Soo, I only have one game currently in my One X which is Angry Birds Space but there is just a minor issue with that one..... It drains the battery at the rate of 1% per 1min. For me this seems pretty high.. With my iPad 2 I can play Angry Birds 30min and only lose 3-4% battery, yes it has bigger battery but still.
One X is my first proper fast phone so I really don't have anything to compare it with but it just does not seem right. Is Angry Birds Space somehow using more resources than it should or is the drivers for Tegra just so messed up that it uses all CPU even when not needed?
To the topic then.. Can you guys recommend some games that do not drain battery like hell? Or is it like this with every game?
Yes, HOX CPU consumes alot of power, but i only notice that when running Tegra HD games. Tried Andry bird space one, didn't like it seems like its not optimised for larger screens.
Games i currently have on my phone, Temple Run, Soulcraft THD, Dungeon Defenders: Second Wave. Had others, but can't remember...
I'm running on GSM version with Quad Core, it does drain quicker with Tegra games. I find that turning off auto brightness, and setting screen brightness to the lowest comfortable setting for you game does make the battery last slightly more...
I been playing dude perfect.
It's like angry birds but its basketball related. Shooting hoops with rebounds etc.
I played a good 3 hours and 20 mins before I got the 14% battery warning.

you battery was full? -.-
I drained the battery to 5% in 2 hours of playing Defense Zone HD. And yes the phone was almost at 100% before I started playing. So if you are outside and about to play few hours on your One X, better carry a portable charger with you...
Except the game I have Wifi on around the clock and auto brightness of the screen.

Hi all.
Yesterday i started playing dead space and after 45 i quit and saw that game had drained the battery for about 40%. also the device got really hot on the backside.
i never experienced this before. normally 1 hour gaming = 20% battery and device never got hot (asphalt 6, modern combat 3, battlefield 2, shadowgun)
is this normal with dead space?

I'm pretty sure it is as Dead Space makes your phones brightness to increase to 100%. I had the same experience with the phone getting really hot and battery life getting eaten up really quick.
When i played dead space i didnt see any problem.
Sometimes after playing Asphalt 6 for 2 hours my play was just little warm.
Ps, its bad company 2, not battlefield 2.
Battlefield 2 would be so amazing with 16 player online mode (like on the PC)

Well to be honest with you when playing HD games it eats the battery up a lot.
I play GTA 3 for about a 25 mins and I lose about 14%
How high was your brightness and does this happen when you play games like Shadowgun, GTA 3, Nova 2 and Modern Combat 3 ? cause all of those are graphically intense games.
What Android version are you on ? I'm on Android 2.3.4 and my Build number is 4.0.2.A.0.42
Hi guys, I want to buy the HTC One and I am a big gaming fan. My question is, how much batterylife takes it to play for example Shadowgun for one hour on this device?
Thanks for any answer.
For me it takes about 3 hours and the battery is depleted ( playing a movie+reddit browsing).
:/
Though I'm on the pre-battery fix update (1.26.771.2)
I would say that one hour of ShadowGun takes between 20 and 30% of battery. I'm on 1.29 that has improved battery life, specially while the phone is on stand by.
Yesterday 25-30mins of shadowgun (where cpu is not faster than 1GHz) took 25% of battery. Wifi was on, screen brightness around 40%, GSM signal weak. So it seems that max is around 2,5h with no wifi/data and good reception.
Put it in airplane mode whilst gaming

Yep, heavy 3d games kill the battery, but the trade off is that games look AMAZING on this phone.

How can this be expained?? Big difference!!??
One is fantasy, one is reality.
Lol from my experience you can't play anywhere near 1 hour of shadowgun till the battery is completely dead

Not true. Playing shadowgun or dark meadow uses more battery than the charger can provide. You should get a couple hours or so though

a COUPLE of HOURS? damn, I really must have got a faulty device... 10 mins of dark meadow and boom 20% of battery is gone on my phone. Not joking, I even made a thread about it and I can get just barely around 3 hours of screen time from a full charge, and this is with juicedefender ultimate on. HTC One X has a great battery on stand by but if you actually USE the phone and by that I mean just put the screen on its worse than horrible
Couple hours is when plugged into charger. Without is less but I havent tested it.

At this moment I have the SGS2 and the game uses 25% per hour playing Shadowgun (no joke). The phone does not get warm at all.
Modern Combat 3 takes about 50 to 60% of my battery per hour. And it heats up. Why does the One X uses so much battery on Shadowgun? Anyone?

Shadowdun is enhanced for Tegra 3 devices, so extra effects and and overall better looking game, all 4 cores are being used vs the dual core GS2.

NO YOU CAN'T
if you use 5V charger your phone overheats after 10-15 minutes.
if you use 3V charger (usb output from notebook) your phone will use more power than charger can supply and will discharge - however much more slowly comparing to just being on battery.
OS - 1.28 .
The phone gets super hot around the rear camera area. Im using battery monitor widget and it drains about 30%/per hour which is crazy. This only happens when I play games like angry birds or osmos. Am I running too many apps in the background? I just wiped battery stats and let it drain to 0 and charged it full back to 100.
Screen on plus heavy CPU usage will chew up your battery. Not much you can do about that.

Sadly, that is typical modern smartphone behaviour.
and the cpu is up there, near the camera. thats why its that area that gets hot.
Ok thnx. Does your Nexus's do this too?
I was having the same issue which prompted me to look into ways to keep it from happening. I've tried a few different kernels and various undervolting / over clocking settings.
The majorly discernable change for me came with trying Jame Bond kernel v3.4 ( I think ), which is by default a battery saver on my device and by association keeps my device from getting so hot.
Look into conserving as much battery as you can. Toggle LTE and GPS off before you play a game, stop syncing in the background too. All that little stuff seems to add up quickly for me.

Turn 3G off when you game. It makes the phone heat like crazy for me and makes my battery life suck.
I've noticed jellybean has reduced the heat from under the camera while gaming. On ICS it used to be really hot now its warm but not hot.

I faced the same problem and especially when i played games. Also it was a new development which i noticed almost 2 weeks back. After much research I checked my phone status and battery status and found the culprit to be the "hotmail app" which i had installed after the launch of outlook.com. Battery status showed it to be eating 40% of batter power. I realized the CPU hot issue and the choppy games issue surfaced after i had installed hotmail.
Now I have removed hotmail app and everything is back to normal. Do let me know if you have hotmail app. If not then there is something running in the background that's eating a lot of power and memory in the background.
I've searched and couldn't find anything related to this problem, so I decided to make a new thread.
I noticed my HOX runs pretty hot (around 50C) when playing 2d games like Final Fantasy Dimension, Dungeon Village etc.
Aparently it runs hotter than playing 3d graphic intensive games like Chaos Ring, and uses more battery too, around 1% per minute.
Anyone else noticed this too? Any suggestions on how to fix it?
I noticed this both on Viper room and now on Paranoid Android on my sig.
Thanks for the inputs!
htc overheating
Right ! if playing games have the power save on !, just played real racing 3 on my 42" tv with hdmi over an hour and a case on , my htc one x gets warm but no over heat, give it a try power save on work for me no overheat...

Hi guys, i want to ask some questions about this phone, mostly about its gaming experience. I know that this phone has great all-day battery life, and i also know that Moto G is a great gaming smartphone, if not the best, thanks to its Snapdragon 400 and Adreno 305 GPU. And i believe this phone is capable to handle most of graphically demanding games around Google Play Store. But my question is, what's about the battery life of this phone when playing games? I mean, how long can it survive when playing intense games without resting the screen, of course, from the full charge 100%? I'm actually quite interested to get this phone in the near future because it's affordable but amazingly good.

Well, you wont have to worry about the battery life I have played demanding games like mc4 and real racing 3, and the battery is just not going down fast at all. Like i could play mc4 for several hours, and still 30% left. Ofcourse not with the highest screen brightness. But this phone has just an incredible battery life overall. Like i could go with 30% battery in the morning, and in the evening there is still 10% left. So dont worry about the battery, in my opinion it does a great job.

It really depends on the game though. For example Badlands (a 2d game) is absolutely murdering my battery, while games from the Anomaly series that are 3d last longer. But all in all, you can expect to get a solid 3-5 hours of gaming without issue, plus the idle drain is minimal, under normal circumstances, so you can make it back to a charger an hour or two after you get your first low battery warnings.
