Question GSM - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

if i buy a gsm nexus will i have 4g on t-mo?

Yes

Yes it will.....HSPA+ to be exact....

The phone is capable. Whether T-Mobile is capable of delivering 4G speeds in your area is the real question. Phoenix 4G speeds stink for me.

[Q] Verizon 3G?

I can't find anywhere that says that galaxy nexus will have CDMA. Does this mean that when I have no LTE coverage there is no 3G to fall back on?
I want this phone but according to my friend LTE coverage in our town is spotty...
There will of course be 3g. No market in selling a phone if there's no 3g since 4g isn't anywhere as widespread as 3g is at the moment

Thats what I figured, thanks.

T-Mobile Galaxy S II "Hercules" on AT&T

Hello. I was wondering if an unlocked T-Mobile Galaxy S II (with the 1.5Ghz processor) would work on AT&T's 3G network? Also, what about 4G? Would the antennas support these data speeds on AT&T?

Keep 3G active during calls?

Does anyone know of a mod or rom that has the ability to keep 3G on during a phone call, when outside of lte range? I could do this on my thunderbolt so I'm sure its possible on the nexus. I couldn't bring much up on the search. Thanks

It works on the Thunderbolt because it has SVDO for simultaneous voice/data over CDMA 3G. The Galaxy Nexus doesn't have this to my knowledge. Its a limitation of CDMA and the chip used.

An SVDO chip set is needed. The galaxy nexus does not have that chip for the CDMA radio
Damn! Thanks though. I guess I have to wait for lte. Hopefully not much longer

I am in the same boat. Verizon's next major 4G roll out is going to be in March. Hopefully my city is included. I know its been over a year since they've been upgrading towers around town. Shouldn't be too much longer

I believe it's only been on the Thunderbolt and Rezound so far.

LTE Nexus Blows? Atlanta Area? Or Is It Sprint?

I bought the Nexus before Sprint came out with LTE but I made sure it was the LTE / GSM Version. Had LTE for a little while but it seams like it has completely gone away. Is it the phone , network, or is Sprint throttling my speed and kicking me off 4G LTE because I download to much?
Anyone else having this problem or experienced anything else like this?

I'm sure its sprint since their network is the worst ever.

there is no LTE/GSM version of the galaxy nexus. you have the CDMA variant.

Ya it isn't your phone, its definitely sprint. They're currently in the process of upgrading their network so coverage is a little spotty. Check out s4gru.com they have all the coverage of sprint and have a detailed list of cities currently undergoing network vision upgrades.
I checked sprint site and it says I am covered and I have had the coverage and now its gone so weird.

mmmmmaybe...I think the basic voice frequencies would work but I bet you wouldn't be able to get LTE from Verizon with the Sprint version of the phone. Essentially, all the reasons to switch (like better network speed) would be off the table if you used a Sprint phone.
I was on Sprint for a few years and just jumped to T-Mobile (got the new SGS4) and it's an AMAZING difference. T-Mobile's 3G speeds are 2x faster than Sprint's 4G LTE. T-Mobile's LTE knocks my socks off.
It's worth it to sell the Sprint phone and make the jump to T-Mobile IMHO.
So yea. I did that. Tmobile is better. Thx
