Hi,
I need a car dock that will fit both One X and Desire HD phones. Mrs has the DHD so the official One X dock is out of the question.
Not fussed for active dock as position of the usb port is different on both.
Suction mount for screen preferred.
Any recommendations?
Rob
I bought this & it's absolutely great! It will definitely fit both phones & is very sturdy. I have it mounted on my dash (using the supplied pad) but the suction device seems that strong I'd have no qualms putting it on a windscreen. Cheap as chips too.
You can get 2 brodit mounts for the 2 phones with one proclip and use a 'move clip' to swap the mounts as you share the car. Linky: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHLbcIMa2io

Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestions guys!

I am after a mount which will clip onto a car vent and hold my Galaxy Note. Can anyone recommend any please?
I had the clingo car vent mount for a while and loved it. It didn't leave sticky residue but still held on the device by simply sticking it onto the pad. (yes, it really held it up quite well). However, due to the heat down here in Florida, the pad became overly sticky and began to deteriorate. So my recommendation would be to purchase the clingo if you live in an area that doesn't get too hot during the day, or you are able to bring it inside when you are not using it (it has a quick release on it).

I just ordered this (granted it will be used for my Galaxy tab 7.7), but I will report back when I get it.

$6 shipped. Worth a try.
I have this same one in car...works very well...I am looking for a good protective case tho and if it's a faff to take off the vent holder will be no good !!!!

After a lot of head scratching, I use the Tetrax air vent mount. Worked fine with my HD2 and now my Note with a Case Mate tough case on - works brilliantly. The magnets do not affect phone performance.
Arkon has a vent mount that will work for the Note:

Thanks for all of those replies guys. I've actually ended up going for a Mountek 'CD Slot' mount due to many raving reviews around here in general car mount threads.
I'm looking to find a Dock that I can use in the car. Unfortunately I have not used one since my old D1 days, and am way out of the loop as to what the good ones are. Any Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I use this one.

i wish these case making companies would make mounts too.
i don't want to use a poorly made, time consuming universal grip on my phone because it has a case on it.
recently bought a mountek universal based on high reviews and testimonials. seriously though, that product is a joke. the grip is not strong and the mount has an inherent design flaw... it is designed to literally seperate by putting pressure between a cd slot or dash seems and the screw to make it tight WILL jack up what you are putting it in. i returned it.
otterbox cant make a mount that fits its line of cases? i have a commuter case and i wish there was a specific mount for it
i have a couple ideas to get one, but it would cost me several hundred dollars and lots of time.

Bought the Original HTC Car Dock from HTC, bit pricier than i would like ( almost 35 from amazon.de) but i have to say that its great. The fact that the recharge cable is attached to the dock and charges every time you put them in the case is really practical.

I like this. And the fact that it would support my case is even better.
If you have an OtterBox Commuter on your One, and a spare dash mount cradle for a Garmin Nuvi GPS(mine was a 205, I think...), your phone will snap into the cradle like it was MADE FOR IT.
I discovered this because my Nuvi died, and after I took it out of the cradle, I was thinking to myself, "this doesn't look that much wider than my One...". And sho-nuff, the One snapped right in.
Perfect for using it for Google Maps, but also just about anything else hands-free, and a perfect dash-cam if I ever get pulled over by some crooked cop! Enjoy!
can you order the mount separate? I've been looking for a dash cam mount, but most of the universal ones are too bulky and I feel like they'd "un-class" the interior of my car haha.

Here you go dude, found it on Amazon in 15 seconds!

I'm telling you guys, it's fantastic. I'm getting a UAG case in a couple days, anxious to see if it fits that, as well.
This mount below also works great with cases. I have a commuter case and a dodge ram so dash is long and windshield to far away to use short mount like OP listed.

Ya its $20 bucks, could prolly find cheaper elsewhere but it is very sturdy, not a cheesy cheapy!!
I just tried it out and you're right! It fits perfectly! Thanks for the tip!

I use RAM mounts and their x grip cradle for my phones. Very stable even during 1g cornering forces on track days.
I've been on a bit of a quest for a portable tripod/tripod mount, after seeing this thread on the chinese oppo forum:
http://bbs.myoppo.com/thread-1884872-1-1.html
The problem with many mounts is they can't handle a phone as wide as ours ( ~ 83mm / 3.27 inches).
The photos in that thread imply it is a Fotopro sj-80 or sj-70 mount, although I have no idea where to get one.
The istabilizer mount XL/Mount Flex looks extremely similar:
http://www.istabilizer.com/store/flex.html
That would be great!
Especially considering the unique O-Click remote (which works great by the way), the mount combined with the camera swivelability would make for a nifty photo taking device!

Anyone tries this?
I have been thinking about this sort of thing, so I just found today.
i.Trek Super Mount Metal Smartphone Tripod Adapter
In case that there is nothing about the hands, it would be good for us to use it without getting worried about the sizes.
Here it is :
I bought the I trek.its interesting but im not particularly comfortable with using it.you worry about overtightening it and cracking the screen

Yes... I think like that so. But I ordered both Mount XL from Amazon (cheaper) and this i.trek from ebay.
I'm ok with IDW holder as in the pictures here.
Hi there,
Considering the huge size of the phone, not all car phone holder work with it.
I bought this one from AliExpress:

Cobao brand, around $6, no problem at all, it's big enough for the Mi Max 2, even with a case. I'm using a very slim case, but there is plenty of room for a regular case.
I only buy holders that can "grab" the vent with a hook and a spring, those are very stable, so I didn't consider other options.
You can find it here (not sure if AliExpress store links works for long but just in case): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Cob...Iphone-6-Plus-5s-For-Samsung/32714737459.html
Thanks for posting the tip!
I ordered one like that. This brand "Cobao" makes some really funky accessories. Even phone holders to fit into car CD drives.
I never used a mount that grabs the vent. Interesting concept. I'm always concerned the mount slips off.
Already had one mount that slipped off the mount, breaking my phone screen when it dropped on the shift stick
Another Option
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00A2AEEGE/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I picked one of these up a while back. It's big enough for the Mi Max 2, but a little too big for smaller phones. Depending on the car and who rides shotgun, it may be a good idea to grab a drill, some bolts, rubber washers, a sharpie, and a screwdriver to mount it properly.
I drive a tiny 97 Corolla, so the back seat was nonexistent to fit this in its intended position. I put it right through an aluminum plate used for supporting an optional "premium" stereo. It was premium for 97, I guess. Now head units are so proprietary that a phone is the best you can do for music in most cases.
Get the Baesues Gravity Lock Holders. They work great even on bumpy terrain unlike magnetic holders but still allow popin/popout usage.
