Hi,
I had read earlier posts of the matter.
Most of them outdated. So I hope I can get an answer here.
After setting up Exchange credentials I am forced to enter a PIN\Password, and cannot use alternate ways to unlock my device such as pattern matching and face unlock.
I've seen .APKs for older models that bypass this.
Is there any thing that would work for my HTC One X?
If there is such a mail.apk that would allow me to do so I will probably need to root my device to use it right?
And yes another noob question incoming, brace yourselves-is it better to hold off with unlocking via HTC dev (required for rooting?) because they void the warranty if you do it through them?
any other idea of how to work around this issue?
thanks.

big big bump for this ...
I have a PIN on mine because of the exchange policy and it annoys me how you need to hit ok after entering the numbers when things like iOS and WP7 unlock straight after the last digit ..
Also anyone notice the lag when entering PIN?
Pattern unlock would be awesome ..
hmm.. another bump maybe?

Hi I Need Your Help To Unlock My Phone T-mobile Dash
Had you done some basic research you would have found that there is no "free" solution out there.
You can use iemi-check for $38, or there is a member here (whose name is slipping my mind -- I appologize) who does it for cheaper.
If you have tmobile for more than 90 days, just call tech support and ask them for the unlock code (for free).
yea...the only free way is just call them. they emailed my code 2 days later. just make sure you acount is all paid up and you have maintained service (with no missed payments) for over 90 days as stated above

What type of lock are you referring to? The guys above are referring to a SIM unlock, but there are two other types as well...
CID unlock- Is required to operate software/operating systems of other carriers on your device; this can be costly through imei-check, but you can get around this by using CID bypass software such as JumpSPL or Haret.exe (it'll bypass the CID lock and allow you to install whatever ROM you desire)
Application unlock- Is required to operate unsigned 3rd party application software on your device; software such as SDA app unlock or SurrealNetworksApplicationUnlock works great

In my experience -- people who don't specify what type of unlock are generally looking for SIM unlocking. But you are correct -- never assume anything
u know its sad they keep saying there is no free way to unlock the imei ok maybe im asking the wrong question how do the pay sites do it . maybe its not free but i am sure its cheaper and say say its not free well what are they doing who are they paying i guess the question is how are they getting the code
so like alot of the other tthreads, i wont bore you with details on how a toddler managed to turn on the screen lock and enter the same code twice and lock me out of my phone, question is, i heard there is software that can "break" thru the passcode, or read the passcode so i can either disable it, or find out what it is,enter it and disable it.
i was told SN-RMS will do it but:a. its carrier only, b. nothing in the product manual mentions anything about this being a feature or ability
will QPST or CDMA workshop work for this? a hard reset is really not an option, since i was a moron and didnt backup my stuff. any suggestions?
TL;DR : What software can get into a phone while the security lock screen is on to either disable lock screen, or read passcode so I can disable it. TIA
This has been discussed before and due to security of the rest of our phones I dont think you are going to get any help on this topic.. If I were you I would go to your closest sprint store and see if they can help you. Good luck!

I have one question, is it possible to unlock phone one this way?
Actually I need answer for the fallowing question : "How many attempts do I have to try to unlock network".
I want to make application which will try every single combination to unlock network. If there is not limit I think this will work just fine.
Thanks in advance
Usually 10 attempts on most phones,
There's from 5-10 digits for unlock codes or thereabouts. Some might be checksum digits or something, but unless the algo has been cracked noone knows which digits do what.
My Dells have 8 digits, some old LG Shines had 16 digits for example.
So unless you feel like playing russian roulette with your unlock chances you're not gonna get anywhere by brute forcing.
Usually once you run out you need the manu to apply some magic to add more chances, it's possible to find out how they do it but if that happened you'd prob already have a method to completely bypass the lock by then(?)

Yes, you get get prompted with an option to answer or decline without unlocking it. I have my One tied to an exchange server tied to mine with strict security policies (disables message previews and forces deletion after certain amount of tries) and I can still answer without unlocking.

Very strange. I have had my phone setup with a security pin since the day I got it and I have always been able to answer my phone without unlocking it.
I'm on stock kit Kat and it works fine. I have pin setup and when someone calls I can answer or decline. Probably just because viper is based on another device. Viper will probably update our base at some point.
Thanks for the replies.guess I'm flashing kk tonight cause that's annoying
What would be the optimal way?
I 'd prefer a free way, if I wont brick it.
Sorry for the dumb question, I googled, but found no info on it except sellers trying to sell unlock codes.
This is my first phone I need to tinker with so I'm confused.
Thank you in advance!
If anyone has the same issue, its pretty easy to do so.
att . com/deviceunlock/#/
Just complete the form and it you get the unlock code immediately. Be sure to confirm from the email, and then dont wait for the next email but go immediatly to the "check device unlock request status" or something like that(its a link they will give you once you confirmed the request).
