One X and Skype - HTC One X

Hi, I went from Winmo to the iPhone and Skype finally worked . Still it had a lot of bugs. Now I'm on Android for a week and I find Skype completely unusuable.
The video chat shows 2 images on top of each other. Audiolevels are flawed.
And text chat is extremely slow. I get to see a new msg sometimes 2 Minutes! after the notification and also typing is wet laggy.
All in all - useless.
Is it just me?

Same problems here.
Also it only works in landscape. I hope there will be an update soon...

Wasn't there a modified Skype posted somewhere in the forums? With mods to make it more usable on One X?

Just to confirm its been unstable for me too... Not heard about this mod to make it work though. Could be interesting.

Yup.. I tried the modified version but no go... Its waste of time... The audio from the other end during a call, is heard through the earpiece as well as the loudspeaker! The same applies for all Voip clients except VOX Mobile.. Vox mobile works flawlessly!

i had no problems with skype, video and audio quality was flawless.
i tried it on stock 1.26 though, don't know about 1.28 or custom roms

My skype has worked perfectly always... never heard of any problems with skype with android except for the 'ancient' days maybe...

@hapticc -Thanks mate.. Thats how Ive been using it so far awaiting for an update
@ all -Thats strange.. which version of Skype are you guys using? So far I tested it on 3 different One X handsets and the results are the same (sound output through the earpiece and Loudspeaker on a call)... BTW mine is PJ46100. Made in Taiwan..

I am using the the official Skype that you can find and download on Market or Playstore.

used it twice last week and thought it was excellent. Audio and Video were better than expected.

There was an update in the meanwhile and it´s a lot better for me now. Also texting works.

I'm anxious to upgrade my phone to a later Android device (OneX or SIII) but still hanging back with my Motorola Atrix 2 w/2.3.6 installed, this appears to be the last functional version of Android Gingerbread (Honeycomb 3.2.x it still works fine too) it runs fine on. If Skype were still the same company prior to Microsoft Pw0ning it we would have a fully functional version of Skype for ICS. Also, ICS doesn't work on my Japanese Tablet: Sharp Galapagos 7" so it's a global issue with Skype.

Flash 10.1 apk

I was reading the news last night and it would seem some clever bloke has managed to get Flash 10.1 on the Evo 4G with Eclair. Well I took the plunge last night and it works on the Desire too. The playback for me wasn't brilliant on video, but games and websites that didn't work previously now do.
you guys might want a look while we wait for Froyo.
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/flash-10-1-for-nexus-one-works-on-htc-evo-too-no-froyo-needed/
It's been posted in ROM Dev but people are saying it's not working...
thats odd it's working here... hmm.
I tried youporn and even that worked, but due to the framerate, I now understand the real meaning of jerking off lol.
Tried it and but didn't work on bbc

Are you sure you're not just getting fed the MP4 video files like most video sites offer? How do you know it's Flash?
I just checked and youporn works for me without installing anything.

If miniclip works then you know flash 10.1 is working.
As that is flash based games which wont work on lite player.
Video sites like youporn have worked on my desire and I haven't had chance to flash it yet.
Just thought 10.1 would mean better framerates.

oh my bad lol
anything that dont work with flash lite? just test that ha ha
I got a site that dont work with flash lite but I doubt many people on ere would wanna see that. lol
try Kontraband.com
this site doesn't work on the desire without 10.1. I never got it to work before i installed the apk. youporn was a bit of a joke, but kontraband, adobe tv also works.

Kontraband.com games are also working
Apart from touchscreen not working on them so it being useless. The games themselves are loading up and running fine here (this is where I dearly wish I could take screenshots).
Some vids which are using Flash embedded within sites also work fine with the stock Flash lite, but others don't. For instance, this viddler embed works fine for me from the stock Desire browser:
http://m.lifehacker.com/5303091/springpad-takes-your-life-data-mobile
But any site with YouTube embeds doesn't. I'm not yet sure why one works and the other doesn't.

[Q] Bluetooth Stack

I'm sorry if this has been brought up before. I am new to the forums but have been following the forums for a while.
I have a rooted HTC Incredible (2.2) and I recently ordered a bluetooth keyboard for typing and playing games. I have been reading about how HTC phones do not use an updated bluetooth stack.
After coming across that, I started searching for a solution. I have been searching for weeks and still haven't come across a definite answer. With that being said, does anyone have any information on how I would go about updating the bluetooth stack to a stock Android version so it is usable with the new keyboard?
Thank you in advance!
So, I recieved my keyboard today and of course, it doesn't connect. Now, the weird thing is, is that it claims to be compatible with Android 1.6+. Doesn't HTC use a Bluetooth stack from 1.6?
Any help would be great.

Get a mirror - Skype video calling now runs on Desire

Update today
Yup. Tried it. Works great. U'll def need a mirror and an extra hand cos it gets tiring after a while.

lol nice - I don't suppose anyone knows if it works on a xoom yet?
I'll be annoyed if it does as my other half wanted to skype to her friend but we had no camera other than the xoom and now I got a camera for her laptop as I couldn't convince them both to use googletalk
I bet Skype is still buggy though.

Yep. Major buggy. Couldn't get vid to work, mute and speaker buttons not working. Still have to sign in and out everytime otherwise it constantly runs (not a bug, I know, but a bloody big annoyance). Uninstalled to an earlier version.
i'd use gtalk if i had friends on gtalk... then again i have no friends on skype either
i'm still not big on the whole video chat to be honest anyway!
It's still got issues. Having to sign in and out all the time. Having to type password each time. Some online contacts don't show for ages. Getting missed calls without so much as a ring. But so far video was very good but as expected big drain on battery due to screen on(video) and skype seemingly running in background.
Overall I'm happier. Now where is that conversion kit to use the back camera as a front camera. What came of the OneMoreFace concept. We could do with something like that nowish.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
tried it from my Desire (froyo) to an iPhone/skype.
I received the video from their end, but couldn't send out my video signal :-(
I'm on Reflex S and its no good, my video initializes but then as soon as call is answered, blank screen it just goes black, but I can still receive theirs....
Tried it today, didn't receive nor i could send my video.. Quite dissapointing, but fingers crossed they fix it soon.
Has anyone tried this on the stock 2.3. It didnt work for me.
I tried this on skype this morning managed to get it to work. Seems to look alright on the computer over Wifi. Havent tried over 3G yet. Audio quality does need improving though, but the video seemed alright, a bit slow but alright.
I can report that using InsertCoin CM7 HBOOT/STOCK 1.0.9, the new Skype version does not allow video for me.
I use instead the patched version here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16323558&postcount=1028
version 0.6 based on the previous version.
seems to work really fine once you set the resolution to Force 320 X 240.
Cheers

it doesnt work for me either on IC 1.0.9
i think maybe cause its is an Ace S based rom (DHD i think ?)
Yup, I have Insertcoin 1.09 using latest v06 snq kernel and it seems not working.
works for me here with plain IC 1.0.9 and using v0.6 of the skype mod (not Kernel), but need to set the camera option to "force 320x240" otherwise it will not work.
Nice news, i will give it a try shortly
On my desire with CM7 new skype is not working properly. I can't send video.
Patched version mentioned by Biafolio is working on Cm7 Rc 7. 1 if black screen problem checked in advance settings. Thanks.

It worked for me either instead of version from the Market, but the phone unexpectedly rebooted two times. I guess it's some kind of a bug.
The most strange of all that I was not using the phone at that moment. Well I've uninstalled patched version and now I'm waiting for the next official release from the Market.

the stock pic&music apps can't find songs&pics in sdcard in cm10?

just the title, any one had that?
yes up
wanted to flashed it but once i saw your thread am having a second thoughts now, it is still in alpha but almost finished and as mentioned in there thread a "daily use", how is it so far and which boot.img did you installed with/without sweep2wake ?

maybe everyone has a little issues here or there, but in general, the other ones feel:it's very good, maybe even for daily use,(read in the forum) ,not every one face the problem(can't find songs &pics),but how does the problem happen ? how to solve it ?
this problem also exists with cm10 for the ville,.. did you hear from any devices not coming from htc with this problem?
You might consider Meridian, my media player of choice for the Android platform. It is very intuitive, excellent features, such as a native digital EQ, etc. You can specify several media locations to search for music, video, etc. It just received an update over the weekend, which helped aestheticly, and the developer is constantly enhancing the app. I'm using it in the gym right now, on the StairMaster. Coupled with Beats Audio, it is unbeatable. Have fun!

nexus s &galaxy nexus had that problem, cause devices which can update or flash rom to 4.1 are not so many, it's a issue caused by the system-jb,i think~ follow the update of cm10 by tbalden, and still no solution~ also little feedbacks about this issue in the one x forum

Could someone please tell me the most stable 4.1.2 rom?

Need to know for a little experiment I wanna try.

There's a thread reporting current bugs.
Those bugs are still important but I can say that these ROMs already work very good.
Thanks to dman for original work and, lately, to spyke555 and kick who are really doing an excellent job (development was almost dead before they committed and i'm very thankful to them for what they are doing).
I've seen the current bug thread but it's for 4.2.2 I need 4.1.2

He already answered your question, the 4.1.2 weren't ever completed, they were abandoned... hence why the issues in those roms are still present.
Install PACRom 18.2 and then apply the fixes for keyboard etc. I think the fixes are in the litekernel thread. Put on the latest litekernel for 4.1 keyboard fix, lights fix and you'll have the best working 4.1.2.
Note - skype and bluetooth headset still won't work, pretty sure the camera issue with rotation is still present. I ran pacrom 18.2 for MONTHS without any issue except those listed and the wake lag.
I was trying to port something, not use it as a rom.

Skype Working
Camera Working
Google Now Working (this seems to be an issue from all custom Roms)
Since I've seen most these features working but none on the same ROM all together

Skype works for text messages, but received audio in calls is corrupt. The core of the issue is audio playback breaks when an app opens the microphone. (Ironically, the microphone itself actually works fine, i.e. voice recognition has messed up audio cues but it does process what you say correctly.) Current hypothesis is it's a driver issue. Research is ongoing. This is a longstanding issue going all the way back to our very first JB kernels.

This is actually a known problem with Google Now itself, it depends on an instruction set the Tegra 2 doesn't have. The Galaxy R and the Galaxy Note 10.1 have the same problem, on ALL Jellybean ROMs, even official. Bug Google, not us.
There is a workaround: downgrade GNow to a working version (possibly by flashing old gapps), then disable "Hotword detection" in settings. Once that is turned off you can upgrade to the latest and it will still work.
Thanks for the reply

Thanks for the reply but:
1) GPS was not locking for me until I changed the gps.conf file in MOST of the ROMs I've tested.
2) Music didn't work on one rom I tested (now and then the music player started lagging and it automatically stopped every few seconds for a few milliseconds)
3)Thanks for the Skype reply; I was hoping there was some version with this fixed but evidentely not.
4)Camera flips orientation in all the roms I've tested. HDR just worked in 1 of them. Camera actually crashed from time to time in one of them.
5)Oh, sad about the Google Now fact. It's actually one of the main reasons I wanted JB
The skype thing Can't be a hardware issue since I've used skype several times before rooting my device. The issue you are talking about happens on google voice sometimes; therefore I'm guessing you're right on thinking that the problem is on the driver.
I'm very interested in ROM building since I'm an app developer for android and a C++ programmer; yet I've been too lazy to check how it worked. Are the drivers we are using open source? or are we just messing with the conf files trying to get things fixed?

hi,
thread how to compile from source:

AFAIK drivers are not open source if they were there wouldn't be so much problems with them. They are ported from other devices similar hw but with code for them.
