Pardon my ignorance, but is there a way to change the backups location in 4ext recovery? I couldn't find it going through the menus...just curious. Thanks in advance.

If you have installed Rom Manager (altough your recovery is 4ext), then you will find it in the Clockworkmod > backup folder) if not check in the download or 4ext folder.
hope it helps.
Very Helpful!

It helped me!
I had Clockwork installed, then TWRP and now 4EXT and for whatever reason, it did appear in the Clockwork folder Oh well lol.
Per the 4ext developer, it is done by design. Check out this post by madmaxx82:

Hey guys, need help going back to Amon Ra from Clockworkmod. Any help will be appreciated.. Thanks
Install ROM Manager and use it to flash Amon RA, it should be at the bottom of the main screen. You may have to let it reflash CWM first, but it goes back and forth easily.

Easy way? Install RomManager there's a option to flash an alternative recovery (Amon')

I think you are confused,if you do a nand back up using rom manager, then you need to restore it with clockworkmod (via recovery or rom manager) but you can not resore nor back up with Amon_ra using rom manager.
I used to have the Amon Ra recovery then tried the clockworkmod recovery. I want my nand backup from the amon ra but I can't restore it via clockworkmod.

Copy the /sdcard/nandroid/ folder to /sdcard/clockworkmod/nandroid (not 100% sure on the second path, I'll be able to tell you later tonight when I flash the nightly).
Voila, now you have your AR backups, in CWM.
So, if I understand.
I have Amon Ra and want to dl Rom Manager/Premium and flash CW Mod. I will then have a usable option at bottom to toggle between Ra and CW. Restore backups thru whichever one I used to back it up.
But, when I flash back to Amon Ra, I need to close out of Rom Manager and use Amon Ra as I have been doing.
drmacinyasha, I like your idea, but not sure I know how to do that safely. I am not good at ADB or Root Explorer if that is an option. Or do you just mount and do it on the pc?
Ken
Oops,
Guess the first part of my question was answered on page 1. These Looong threads are hard to keep up with.
I am trying to get back my original backup and everythime I try it says:
Checking MD5 sums…
Erasing boot before restore…
Restoring boot image…
Error while flashing boot image!
I think my HBOOT isnt the write version but im not sure.
Did you change the name of it and use invalid characters, such as a space? Or seems your backup may be corrupted.

What recovery are you currently using? Clockwork? If so, what version?
Well, do you have signature verification off? And what's your bootloader say? Have you switched recoveries in the process?

Yes they are off, What info do i need form my bootloader, And yes I went from Clock work to the green one that starts with a A then back to Clockwork.
Well thinking back, bootloader wouldn't matter, as long as you're rooted. And well are you trying to restore an amon_ra backup from clockwork?

You can't switch recoveries like that. The recovery you used to backup is the one you must use to restore. Backup with clockwork you have to use clockwork to restore you can't use RA.

Not sure I'm following ya but if you want to go back to green aka RA then there is a thread in DEV. on how to do it. The pc36img is the easy way. I think its pc36img any way can't quite remember. You put it on your SD boot to hboot and it will ask if you want to flash it. Basically

I just made a backup and none of them will restore. No matter how old or new
How are you doing it? Are you choosing to install zip from sd card? If so... that wont work. Go into backup and restore and restore from there. Make sure to wipe everything first.

Hi , sorry if this is a noob question I tried to backup my latest instal of CM7 the cingerbread stable buil 7.0.0 and after that i tryied a nandroid but when i tried to restore it it fails MD5 sum verification. same happened with Oxigen 2.0.3 backup same md5 eror
is it possible to have a corupt sd? iv done lot of backups and restor in last months..
TY
Alex
Are you doing this through ROM manager? Or Clockwork?
Was the nandroid backup made with CWM?
If they're failing then you can change it so they restore. Go into the folder and open the md5 file and it'll have like 5 things with md5 sums in it. Just verify each .img or replace the right one on your case.

try diffrent recovery. find a clockworkmod thread here on xda and download CWM 3.0.0.5 fake-flash.zip
put it on your SD, reboot into recovery, choose 'install zip from sdcard' and choose CWM 3.0.0.5 zip, it will boot CWM 3.0.0.5 and take it from there

never had issues before allwais may nandroid could be restored
another recent change i ve made was repartinion my SD to Fat 32 + ext 4 (700mb) + linux-Swap (200 m) for better MIUI installs.. could this be an issue for 2.5.0.7 recovery to fail my nandroids?
if I install rom manager from market it does not show me i can change my recovery to 3.0.0.5... maybe they dont recommend this upgrade?
please advice
ty all for your time
They won't show because ROM manager is crap. Try to get the latest cwm - 3.0.2.1 I think. Saw it this morning.

did actually someone else have problems with CM7.0.0 when nandroid with CWM? can someone confirm it works with 3.0.05 or 3.0.1.2 or newer? just don't wont to change recovery who worked just fine for 6 months or so..
Well you can try the fake-flash version to see if it works (the .zip file) - so it won't overwrite your current recovery permanently.
Hi Guys,
I Rooted my HTC Desire using Unrevoked Here
http://androidforums.com/desire-all...nrevoked-windows-updated-20th-may-2011-a.html
after that I saw AR-Recovery (via recovery-RA-desire-v2.0.1.img) and there I created a Nandroid Backup. After creating a backup I saw Nandroid folder made in my SD card with backup inside.
Last night I S-OFF my HTC desire using AphaRev 1.08 and when it asked to isntall CWM Recovery during process, I replied YES..
Now I have CWM Recovery, when I go to it to restore my ROM, it cant locate and use my Previouis backups created with AR-Recovery.
Any Way I can restore those backups since I had lots of applications and settings done with that and I cant go through the whole process from Zero again....
And If I restore the backups when I created before S-OFF, will that turn my Phone S-ON again?
Well, you can flash AmonRa via Fastboot Commander.
Or with unrevoked V3.21

This issue is intimately tied to the inner workings of the recoveries which are obviously different. I don't believe that it's a good idea to restore backups made with a different recovery.
If you restore an amonra backup with clockworkmod or reverse, you will get an usb brick.

ok I might just flash AmonRa recovery.. can anyone give me a link on how to do that?

If you didn't make a nandroid backup (I'm assuming you didn't), you're going to want to look here for a flashable zip of your stock RUU. If you can't find one, try looking for a nandroid backup of your device then port it to a flashable zip. Hope this helps, but this is what I did when I installed CM and forgot to make a backup.

Ohh, I misunderstood what you were saying, you're asking how to do it.
Reboot your phone into recovery (Shut it off, turn it off, then hold volume down and power button at the same time, then go to recovery)
Go to the "Install ZIP" category.
Go to "Install from SD Card"
Go to "Downloads" (I'm guessing)
Then choose the .zip you downloded, good luck.

No, don't follow his instructions at all haha. Take the zip you downloaded and extract it, (should be called a bunch of numbers, it signifies the date it was created) after that place the folder on your internal (or external) sd card in the directory /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/
Or "/ext_sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/"
After that boot into cwm, and choose restore/backup. Select restore from sdcard (or sdcard1 depending on if the backup is on your internal or external sdcard) and choose the file with the long string of numbers, which should be the only on in there. But make sure it matches the numbers that I previously mentioned. Choose yes i wish to restore.
After that just boot up your phone.
