Restart
my phone had been working well, normal when suddenly my phone froze when i was listening to music.
so i took my battery out,put it back in.
the as soon as the memory card reloaded it started boot loops.
at the moment im fixing permissions but i cannot do that with my memory card in.
should i just completely reset my phone because it happens when i put any app on the memory card, then after moving the apps if i reset the phone it does boot loops after..nothing fixes it.
its all stock only just rooted.

Man, this sounds exactly like your problem I linked above????
fixing permissions is not going to help, unless the Apps on SD Card can also be included, which does not seem to be possible......
You could also try Stericsons fix permissions App, which only allows to fix permissions for one App at a time....
but if you us told everything last time, there seems to be a problem with that SD Card!!!!
And, off course, just pulling Battery can, possibly, cause corruption, as programs loaded are not closed cleanly, so "unclean shutdown" is bad news.

factory????

[Q] 2.3.5 RUU update - SD Card Problems

Okay, I updated to 2.3.5 europe just last week using the RUU extracted installer. All was well and lovely until two days ago.
My SD card has gone crazy. As soon as I unmount and remount the SD card, the phone reads the SD card in a really weird way. The app drawer shows only a few apps that are installed. Majority of apps that I had on the SD card have now vanished - but are still installed because my internal memory is the same - and they still appear in applications list. It says it doesn't exist?
I've rebooted my phone, hard reset, factory reset, format SD card.. everything you can name, I've TRIED IT. Every time I reboot the phone it happens. apps disappear into a black hole. Also, I've reinstalled all apps thrice and cba to do it again! It says "failed to move application" for most apps at first when I try to move them with the App2SD app.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Should I revert back to my old ROM?
Is there a way to fix this? My phone is S-ON, no root.
EDIT: Now I cannot even unmount the SD card...
I had a MAJOR problem where the phone stopped recognizing the SD card. It would literally say unavailable and wouldn't recognize ANY cards at all.

Have you taken out the SD-card and put it back again? Sometimes the phone gets bad connection to the card and "exercising" it may help.

I've tried everything, even changed back from Sandisk to my samsung SD card. Same problem, it keeps rebooting at times and eventually stops and works perfectly.
Really REALLY annoying. It must be the ROM.
Just use Jik's salsa ROM, it runs really smoothly, frees up memory via link2sd and has new lock screen.
Then install the v6 supercharger and battery calibrator for a really great experience with this phone.
Get an XTC Clip and become S-Off, it's great.

[Q] force closing issue

Hi guys, i have a problem with my 2 months old phone. A few weeks ago, when i tried to reboot it kept force closing and restarting scanning all storage. That went on for 30 times or so and after that it worked just fine. I did not deactivate it for a couple of weeks, but when i did it was all over again foce closing and restarting. I am now too afraid to deactivate the device. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
(currently in stock rom, unrooted)
try go to recovery and wipe cache 2 times

And do fix permissions....also you can wipe dalvik cache safely....in advanced
Edit: Oh oh sorry I see you probably don't have CWM...apologize to you...

maybe you can install rom toolbox lite and wipe dalvil cache maybe... I saw wipe menus in there I think, but never used it.
thank you all for the replies. Will try some of the above and get back to you. I just dont want to get the phone rooted this soon...
It seems that my external 8 GB sd card was the problem. I unmounted and formated it and the phone works again, without rebooting. Now i 'll try to keep most of my apps on the internal storage, or the build in sd card to avoid future problems. Thanks again.

Hi...good to see you're fixed!!
BTW....you can't use the Internal USB Storage [SD] to move Apps to..
In our SGS Apps can only be moved to External SD Card.
unless you do the SD mount-point swap in your vold.fstab file...but as you are not rooted, that is not a runner.

me too. I would like to know how to recover data from it if anyone knows.
I've had this issue ever since upgrading to ICS. It will say sd unexpectedly removed, or corrupted sd card a few times per day. Tried a new sd card, and got a replacement phone from T-Mobile..still does it on every Rom I use. Quite annoying. But, I have found that taking out my battery and holding the power button for a few seconds to drain all the juice out seems to bring it back.

It means that the sd card is formatted to something that its not supported by the phone. I had this problem before, save all the data on your computer, make a folder and name it sd backup. then on the phone do a factory format only on the sdcard. or you can do it on recovery, it will format the sdcard too. then move all your stuff back from the computer and you're good to go
Dude I tried NTFS ext4 and fat32

I have this same issue and I run the stock rom. Has happened on 2 different cards now, with the last one making the card appear unformatted. I have to use data recovery software now to get all my stuff back. I'm thinking about getting my phone replaced as it's a couple weeks from 1 year old.

it happened to me again while i was restoring apps after loading a different rom. this time, i put it in a card reader and ran chkdsk /r on it, and all my files reappeared. so i back it up this time. i am not sure why it happens so much.
i had this with one of my sdcard not long ago. i copied all the data from the sdcard to my computer and formatted the sdcard using another phone and put the data back on it and never had an issue since. i probably could have used the s2 to format while i was troubleshooting but it got fixed before i could try.

If you can save all your files to computer then let the computer format sd card to default fat32 not ntfs. Then move files back to sd card and it should fix the problem. I have done this method several times and it worked for me.

Problems with CM10 (sd card, ect)

Three days ago i found out what rooting was, and i thought i would try it, so after many searches i managed to root my phone. Next i tried to install CM 10 on my htc one v cdma, and at first it kept rebooting, but i managed to fix that. My problem now is that whenever I try to go into storage the phone goes out of settings and says "unfortunately, settings has stopped" i don't think it is mounted, but on the notifications bar it says its safe to remove the sd card, this is not the only problem, sometimes when i turn it on or wake it up the phone background is like copies of things... i cant really explain it, but it looks like it has 10 clocks, or phone icons everywhere, and i cant click on anything.
Can someone please help me it would be appreciated.
ps (I keep hearing about jellyboot 5 kernel, but when i search google for a download it turns up nothing every time, so can someone please projide a link).
Thank you all ahead of time.
u didnt factory reset. Do a factory reset and flash kernel.

Use the 12-30 super sick kernel. It solves a lot of issues. Id also suggest backing all your data from your sd card to your computer and letting android reformat the card.
Sure it takes a few minutes, but it solves problems.

Can't install apps after flashing of roms

After flashing different Android 4.2 roms on her DHD, my friend is seemingly unable to install most apps and seemingly have no access to the SD card. I told her to use the repartition of the SD card function in CWM after flashing the first rom she tried, since she was stuck in the HTC boot screen. After having flashed the boot.rom file so that the OS now actually boots, something still seems seriously wrong after that repartition.
I don't know if apps actually require an SD card to function, but whenever she tries to install for example Tango, it says that the app already is installed on her phone. The reason why i suspect the OS not having access to the SD card is because the ext folders or whatever that supposedly are supposed to appear on the SD card when you install a new rom never appeared. There's nothing on it except the zip containing the new OS.
I can't find any solutions to this for this specific phone, and the information about this that i found in other topics i don't really understand.
Can someone please help us figure out what's wrong with her phone? It worked fine before in Android 2.3.

Hmm, no i don't think she has. But it worked before the CWM repartition, so something should make it work again.
Your first mistake was partitioning the sd card. Thats a waste of time and a headache waiting to happen. Remove sd and see if you can boot phone into recovery. If so format sd on computer do not partition then remount sd. You jave to also reflash rom.
Many people have been having issues with cmw. My suggestion is move on up to 4ext recovery. And stay away from rom manager its garbage.
Good luck

Thanks, that did solve the problem with the SD card. The folders were properly created when she flashed the rom once more.
The problem however still presists with apps; the play store says that they're already installed.
Try clearing play store history in play store settings see if that resolves it.
Edit: Also in memu>app manager try clearing rhe playstore data. It will open as tgo it was never opened and ask to accept terms and agree.
