takju - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

anyone jumped the gun yet and flashed these images?
it appears to fully support google wallet also..

all it probably means is that google wallet is included. but it is interesting if yakju and takju can be flashed.. i don't see why not, but i wouldn't wanna risk it.

I sure would (;

it seems to able to be flashed on the yakju phones with no issue..

It is just an app that check if product name is yakju, if it is not, it will say it is not updated by google. Time for an app update to check if product name is yakju or takju, or do anyone believe that Google is selling a phone that it is not going to support/update?

i wonder if takju will become the official google distribution and will receive the updates first, followed by yakju and then the rest of them when Samsung give its ok...

That checker is only as accurate as the person who coded it. It checks for mysid or yakju and if it doesn't find either, it outputs the not updated by google string. It doen't check Google, or anything else to verify results.
JBQ said it was supported on AOSP, proprietaries, images, everything. Updates will come from Google.

Google isn't going to have two products called takju. Also, this doesn't surprise me. ICS was built using a Nexus S before the Galaxy Nexus devices were built.

I, too, have had success so far flashing from yakju to takju. My device came with yakju to begin with though...

Feel like there's no reason to flash this if you're already on yakju. That being said I've already downloaded the images...

Also to include, this was first found out when a guy bought a Nexus S on eBay. It came with ICS on it. Google remotely wiped the buyers' phone.

It is annoying, but more importantly, very misleading when devs use the word "official" in naming an app like that.

4.1.1 Jelly Bean OTA rolling out NOW for GSM devices!

It's official. The GSM Galaxy Nexus Jelly Bean FINAL OTA has officially started rolling out. Final release, folks! We ain't talkin' previews here.
Build version number seems to be JRO03C, rollouts for takju and yakju on maguro devices have been confirmed, no other concrete info yet on any other builds/versions.
Changes? Seems to be pretty much the same as JRN84D, probably with stability fixes, etc. But when comparing with ICS, there are many new features obviously.
OTA update links:
takju 4.1 JRN84D to final 4.1.1 (JRO03C) : Download official ZIP (thanks CocoCopernicus and mbirth!)
takju 4.0.4 IMM76I to final 4.1.1 (JRO03C) : Download official ZIP (thanks a lot lostinbeta!)
Yakju 4.0.4 IMM76I to 4.1.1 final JRO03C: Download official ZIP (Thanks a lot jellymelly)
Instructions on how to flash the update links, are on Efrant's thread here. Note that you need to be on 100% stock to be able to flash the zips. That means, your radio, bootloader, kernel, boot, system, etc should be completely stock. Rooting is fine though, the update should flash fine on rooted devices but you might have to restore root later on.
Update: Search functionality is NOT being removed with this update, as per this quote from The Verge's post:
Update: A Google spokesperson has informed us that the company has not pushed out any changes to search functionality in connection with the Jelly Bean update.

takju or Yakju?

When my new Galaxy Nexus arrives, how can I find out if it needs a takju or Yakju update?!
Just want to download and prepare everything in advance...
Where did you get it from? Takju phones are only available on the Google Play store. Other variations are sold overseas. You can download the "official GN update" app (name might be a little off) from the play store and it will tell you which version you have.

Download this app from the Play Store to check the version of your device: GN Official Update Checker
Use Maps
you can find out if it's yakju or takju by simply
*going into the maps app
*settings
*about
the version should be under device
eg
samsung yakjuxw
Unless you have google wallet, you have yakju. Yakjus are far more common and seem to get the updates a tiny bit earlier in the rollouts.
with CM10 i have yakju and with AOKP i have takju? strange no?
And with the stock rom i had yakju too. I think this yakju/takju thingy doesn't matter when using custom roms, am i right?
you can get you product name (takju yakju etc) by:
Code:
adb shell getprop ro.product.name
adb.exe is included in the Android SDK.
there are just different software profiles for Galaxy Nexus the hardware profile however is the same - 'maguro'.
I used to be on yakjuxw but flashed takju as it updates faster.
basically
takju = yakju + google wallet.
takju & yakju are both GSM/HSPA+
takju & yakju are distributed by Google
yakjuXX are distributed by Samsung
actually this name you can change it anytime from /system/build.prop.
so, yes it does not matter much

If you want to know how to flash it go to the Galaxy Nexus forum and you'll find a guide. It's very complete and well written so you shouldn't have too much trouble flashing the update on your phone. (or you could wait for a few days and hopefully you'll get the update via OTA, I'm sure it will arrive soon... well if you are on yakju anyway)

4.2 was released on Takju first and Yakju got it about a week later. They get the updates at about the same time anyway as they are both updated by Google.
People if i got yakjuXX will i be able to use fastboot & flash cyanogenmod stable for "maguro"?
Yakju got android 4.3 before takju, so yakju is better.

Normally takju gets updates first but that all changed with 4.3, yakju got 4.3 update before takju, so I'm guessing Google changed their minds an made yakju their first choice from now on with receiving updates first.
When maguro was released, there was only yakju. But then again, there's no real difference between the two.
a maguro sent this.

That means you're getting OTA via Samsung, not Google. What I recommend you to do is use Efrant's guide to convert from what you have to yakju or takju. It only takes few minutes... Make sure that you got everything backed up, since the process includes you wiping EVERYTHING.
But when I connect my Nexus to kies it keep saying "connecting", tried on two different computers.
BTW, am I running the right firmware?
Well first of all, Gnex doesn't use Kies... You need to download the drivers yourself
And what do you mean by right variant?
Samsung use kies right? Where can I get the driver?
I think I am using Verizon firmware?
Are you with Verizon? If not, the answer is no.
Only device with Samsung Touchwiz uses it. Gnex is a PURE ANDROID. Without any brand bloatware. That is why it doesn't have Kies.
Verizon variant is mysid and if you have GSM Gnex and you can text, call and etc, you don't have Verizon variant. You don't need to worry about that.
You can get the driver and how to install it from this post
according on the web, IMM76K seems to be a Verizon firmware?
That is Verizon Android 4.0.4 version (I think). Mysid is like a "codename" for all Verizon ROMs. For example, CM10 for GSM Nexus is either takju or yakju, but CM10 for Verizon will be mysid. Hope that answers your question
how can i update to 4.1.1?

OP: If you don't want to convert to yakju or takju, you just need to wait. From what I know, your variant doesn't have the Jelly Bean OTA yet (Blame Samsung). I personally would just convert it and get it over with. That's what I did, and I am very happy with my decision. Photos and musics and the moved to your computer and apps+data can be backed up by following this guide
I thank you for your help. Here are my last questions:
How to tell if my phone is an import and find out where it is from?
BTW I still can't update (not flash) to 4.1.1
Well the variant can tell you if it's an import. For example, you have yakjuzs is a China variant, so it is an import. If you had takju, it will be from US. If yakjuux, Canadian. Something like that.
Ok i think mine is not an import then, thank you very much!

There are ways to unlock the GN without wiping data (it involves using an exploit rather than "fastboot oem unlock").
ezekeel's app has such a method.
However: I am not familiar with the Verizon GN that you say you have. I can't say for sure the app will work with it. You can ask around in his thread. There may also be other ways I'm not aware of.

Imm76k.i9250xwld2 is not yakjuxw 4.0.1, it is yakjuxw 4.0.4.
You can find a yakjuxw 4.0.1 ROM in the dev section. Once you flash it, you will get updated to yakjuxw 4.0.4 and and possibly yakjuxw 4.1.1.

Yes the factory image hit, but the OTA isn't available.
Word is that the images weren't even supposed to go up today. There was supposed to be an OTA to Google employees' devices for final dogfooding.
When it's officially rolling out to takju devices you'd better bet its rolling out to yakju at the exact same time.
