So, to start I have not meddled with my phone at all for a couple of months now. I have been using the MikG rom with no issues, and have never had any issues flashing roms or finding the answer to a problem on the forums here. But I am stumped on what my problem is or how to fix it.
Just the other day I restarted my phone, as I said I have not been messing with rooting, it was just a simple reboot. When my phone started up only the top bar loaded and nothing else. I could still get phone calls and text messages and the notifications would update, but was entirely locked out from doing anything other than being able to see the top bar. I restarted a few times hoping it was just a fluke, but the same result every time.
I then reflashed my rom but got the same result. Then I flashed the newer version of my rom, I still could only see the top bar, and nothing else. And yes I wiped all data/cache/davik and reformated my sd card.
Lastly I tried flashing an entirely differnt rom, but that only resulted in putting me in an endless bootloop. I have tried a few different roms and all put me in bootloops.
I am afraid this might be a hardware issue, but I figured I would ask on here to see if anyone had any ideas what my problem might be. Any kind of input would be greatly appreciated :\
Can you tell me what Rom you flashed afterward? I was using mikg for awhile, but it did the samething. I wiped the hell out of it. And flashed another Rom and it works. If you wipe again and it doesen't work, try reformatting your SD card.
Hardware would be like dropping your phone and some of the buttons not working. I think its more of a software issue....

And did you reformat your SD card on your computer or just phone?

Thanks for the reply
My first instinct was to go back to the roms I used prior. I tried Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo and Synergy since I have used them both and had no issues with them when I did.
And I reformatted my SD Card on my computer
Can I have you pm me your email address?
I might have a couple of zips for you to flash.

Ok... here's the deal. I just decided to switch roms finally to see what is new out there. I had been running an old version of Uber Kingdom. Here is the problem I am having. It is boot looping. Relatively simple problem to fix usually. But wait, there's more! It is boot looping in every single rom I install. Sometimes it won't boot to clockwork properly either and I have to pull the battery. Is there someway I can fix this? Or is this a hardware problem (which I kind of doubt)? I just don't understand what the heck is going on. I have been flashing different roms left and right for the past few hours trying to get this thing to stabilize. Sometimes it will boot up into the rom, I will get mostly through the google accounts setup, and then it will restart, and then loop. Other times it won't even get past the white incredible screen, and then sometimes it will make it into the rom splash screen. I have attempted to install CM7 nightly, Uber kingdom, and Synergy so far. I can flash the new rom, I can mount the SD card in clockwork, but then it begins to loop again as soon as I leave clockwork.
Let me know if you need any other information.
Is there a way to just completely redo EVERYTHING, clockwork, rom, everything, just to make sure I have a nice clean slate?
Thanks a ton for reading through this novel. I am extremely frustrated.
~Will
PS, I may not get back to this thread until morning. I have to get to sleep for work. Sorry if I don't respond right away to information requests. Thanks again!
If you can mount the SD card, download the stock RUU from www.dougpiston.com, put it on the root of the SD card named exactly PB31IMG.zip, and boot into hboot to install it. Your phone should be restored to stock, a clean slate.
Tried a different SD?

How are you downloading and flashing the ROM? I had this problem when trying to do everything through Rom Manager. Even trying to flash in recovery with a ROM downloaded through ROM Manager would loop.
Update
Well, I was just getting ready to flash the original RUU when I tried one last time to restore my old Uber rom setup and it worked (whereas the last 3 times of doing exactly the same process didn't). It stopped looping at least, even though I am still running the same rom I was before. I think tonight I am still going to attempt to flash the RUU anyway and start over anew.
To answer the questions before, No, I did not try a different SD. I didn't know it could make that much difference. Still on the original one that came with the phone.
As the downloading and flashing process goes, I was downloading direct from the XDA forums on my laptop, then transferring the files via USB. I have never really liked using the Rom Manager. It cuts me out of the XDA loop and I don't get to see all the bleeding edge discussions, etc...
So I will try to flash everything new tonight, and then post my results for anyone who is curious. Thanks for the help guys!
Running Synergy RLS1 my phone app (com.android.phone) keeps not responding apparently so I get the popup for wait or force close. If i reboot it fixes it for a while but it keeps happening. Im worried im missing calls or texts. And what if theres an emergency and I cant make a call lol. Is this a Synergy issue or what? PS I tried fixing permissions.
You have proper version of hboot and at least a 2.1.x radio?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
To be honest, I have no clue. How can I find out and is that something I can fix without reflashing/wiping/etc.?
Boot into hboot menu; device off, hold volume DOWN and power until booted into white screen. Hboot version is listed at the top. Use volume button to navigate and power button to select. Radio version ; Settings, About Phone, software information, look at the baseband version, that's the radio.

Hboot 0.92.0000
Radio 2.15.00.07.28
Hmm, which version of CWM does the thread say is required, and are those versions of hboot and radio acceptable per the thread?
Got ample space on the sd?

What clockworkmod recovery version are you using and what was your rom installation procedure?
ive been using rls1 since it was released and this just started happening the other day. i think it may have something to do with Faceniff. I remember it starting sometime around installing and using that app
Do you know what a clockworkmod is Paintboarder? Its a recovery system and you can find out easily what version you are running by using Rom Manager in your app drawer, and just look under recovery, and it says current recovery: Clockworkmod ?.?.?.?
Hope that helps you if you dont already know. And maybe your getting FC's because you didnt do a clean wipe and install. Did you try fixing permissions?
im completely aware what clockworkmod is. im not that much of a noob. im running 3.0.0.8. like i said. my installation process couldnt be the issue since i have been running without issues since the release of rls1
the issue is seeming to have receded a little since removing Faceniff. That doesnt mean it doesnt still happen. It does. And btw read the OP. I did try fixing permissions.
My bad, didnt mean to downgrade you just wanted to be sure. Well im running Synergy RLS1 right now and i havent experienced that issue. If it were me i would just try reflashing it. So far it is an amazing ROM.
Sorry man i guess i looked past that part about the fixing permissions.
flashed a different radio i saw in someones signature. seems to be working fine now. also i had the 3G and 1X connectivity issues and the solution in the ROM thread fixed it.
I'm using the older incredible without slcd and have had no issues, wonder if that connectivity issue is tied to that in any way? Guys with the newer incredible vs. Old
Dink sporting Synergy RLS1. Xda app.
Mods and not wiping seem to cause pretty much every error with FCs that I run into. Only time I get them reintroduced it seems is if I freeze/remove something that's needed by another program or if I restore data for certain programs (which were backed up under another ROM).
I have RLS 1 installed too and it ran fine for about 6 days before I started getting fc's. I was rebooting at least once a day the first 6 days then I didn't reboot for 2 days and started getting fc's. So I started rebooting daily again and I don't seem to have any more problems.
My phone was running great for about a week with this rom but today it has shut itself off twice. I am also using the ics theme. Any ideas as to why its doing this all of the sudden? Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

First off are you undervolting? Secondly if you have an issue like this it can be the cause of a few things. Did you restore data with Titanium Backup?
Also, even though it may not be specific to this rom if you do a search on here or google for random reboots you may find solutions that others have had. I understand the rom may not be the same but quite honestly this is a semi-common issue with custom roms and this question has been asked quite often.
Good luck and when in doubt wipe/format all and just load the rom and run it for a few hours without any apps
Did you put that theme over a stock rom?
odexed?
I put it over the blazer rom which it was made for. I cleared delvic cache and cache partition and it hasnt rebooted since and that was hours ago. Is that something you should do every once in a while to keep it running good?

Also no I am not undervolting or overclocking or anything like that. All system settings are default.
Well I thought everything was ok with the phone but it is restarting again! I am getting really frustrated I love this phone but I dont know how much more of its bull**** I can take! I am getting ready to throw the ****ing thing out the window! How would I know if I am undervoltin or anything like that? I did not mess with any system settings when I installed the rom.

I did not do a full factory wipe because in the directions he said to just flash the blazer rom 2.0 then a modified calkulins wipe then flash the 3.2 He said no data wipe was required.
Hey I was just wondering could this be caused by a faulty sd card? I noticed yesterday that when I went to access my sd card it was unavailable. Could the sd card bieng faulty cause a system crash that would lead to a reboot? I do have some apps installed on the sd card.

If you really want to fix your issue you have to troubleshoot to death. Do it all, format sdcard, do a clean install and anything else you can think of. Thats the best way to troubleshoot. Just nandroid your setup now and use TB to save data and go for it....
Don't worry bout asking us since a response may not come fast enough so just jump right in and get your phone up to speed. Or your can odin a stock EL26/13/30 rom..
To make the long story short, I went from stock to rooted and the debloated it. I also manually flashed the latest TWRP 2.3. I got excited reading up on the LiquidSmooth and decided to try it. Everything went fine but I noticed that it wouldn't read my class 10 64GB microSD. I decided to go back to stock using a recovery version flashable zip. It gave me the errors I'm seeing now I thought I should try the stock, untouched .tar.md5 and use ODIN to flash. Everything went smoothly again but I'm still seeing the errors.
It's a bunch of "Unfortunately, ----- has stopped." errors. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
After trying a 2GB microSD, the errors went away. I'm starting to realize the root of the problem here is my 64GB card. Hmmm... I never had this problem when I first bought the phone. It read the card just fine. It all started going wrong after flashing LiquidSmooth.
Factory reset. You've got left over data causing conflicts I'm betting.

Thanks for the help, Doc. I just tried that now and it's definitely my card. Each time I switched roms, whether through recovery or ODIN, I cleaned up everything including a factory reset. Just now I did it in the stock recovery and it still happens. My last ditch effort here is to use the SDFormatter and see if my card is salvageable. I don't know exactly how I borked it, at least on Android devices, because my PC would read it just fine. Anyways, I can always exchange this if it's broken. I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience that's similar to what I'm seeing.
Problem solved! That took a long time to format my 64GB to exFAT using SDFormatter, but with full overwrite and adjustments set to on, it now works as it did when I first got my phone. Time to root again.
Is there a way to undo the leaked ICS firmware I've flashed? I've been hit with the post viper CM10 lag that seems to be going around and I thought I'd try everything to get rid of it.
Have you tried chilly's super wipe? There is a thread for it.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda app-developers app
Same here. I super wiped two days ago and formatted my sd card. I thought I had it and my phone ran fine for a day. I charged it over night and when I took it off the charger, it was shot again today. When it actually boots, I can't get past the unlock screen. It holds there for about a minute before going into a boot loop. I didn't even think of the ics firmware. Maybe I'll try going back to stock tomorrow and then reflashing cm10.

I don't know if it's the firmware or not, but I thought it was worth a shot. I have used chilly's wipe and I have gotten the huge lag since then. I'm running his PAC rom now and I used his wipe twice before I installed. I've also v6 supercharged so I'm waiting to see if it happens again. Is there a copy of the old firmware that is flashable like the new one?

There at threads for different ruu's. I'm not sure which one you need. Search through those. Also, when your phone starts lagging try connecting to a computer in adb I think, someone posted that that fixed theirs temporarily. I think they narrowed it down to the SD card being bad and with it connected it dismounts the SD card and doesn't have the problem. That might help.

I'll give that a shot next time. Usually I just pull the battery and install cm7 so I have a working phone.
Okay, 1st you need to return to stock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599767
After this process you need to flash cwm and superuser:
I believe this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751796 has all the files (including adb) set up in one .zip under "TACOROOT"
Or just download them from here:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/77740451/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-vivow.img
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/77740451/Superuser-3.0.7-efgh-signed.zip
This is what I did to remove the firmware. I didn't have the lag, but I was hoping to solve camera issues.

Just a quick note...When I was running CM10 I would get the boot loops at the lock screen, but if I just let it alone, it would loop 2-3 times and then settle in. It took a while, and I avoided rebooting my phone at all costs, but have you just let it sit for about 10 minutes to see if it pulls out of the boot loop? Mine usually came out in less than 5, but you never know. After it booted up it settled down and ran fine. I've never used the Venom rom or super wipe though, so ymmv.

Mine doesn't boot loop, it runs great for a few days then starts to lag so bad it's unusable.

Some have reported that it's linked to a usb / sdcard / storage issue. Lag starts after connecting.
