getting the top scroll bar - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i know that's the wrong name but if i odin back to el30 is there a way to get that top bar that you can scroll through 4g, auto rotation, data etc or is that only a feature cooked into roms? thanks

Most good TW custom roms (the peoples rom, CleanGB) have the quickpanelsettings app built in so you can modify your status bar power control. However CM9 w/ reloaded mod and stock AOKP can do this as well through their own methods.

[REQ] ASOP Lockscreen and Keypad

Any chance of the ASOP Lock Screen (possibly the black one from the viper rom) for my stock froyo??
also the black keypad with the white #s from his rom aswell.
any chance of a flashable zip for these?
would it be possible to apply these to the stock froyo or do i need a rom??
how about just an all black deoxed dialer??
As I understand it, the builds are different so the framework is different, so the mods for those builds are specific to those builds alone. You can always try, but I would imagine there would be issues. Also, themes only work on rooed and deodexed framewrks so if you are "completely" stock then they won't function.

I'm on my phone right now so posting links ain't gonna happen and I apologize. Look in the development section for roms or do a search. There's the Syndicate rom from ACS, Epic Experience from shyzopunk(look for is di18 version), Androdena from n00ble. Those are the only ones I can think off of the to of my head there's also a stock but deodexed rom from n00ble and a deodexed template from dreamsforgotten in the theme section. The Syndicate rom has the aosp lock screen built in but once you pick a rom do a search for dk18 lock screen our check out my theme thread. The emotionless beast for eclair as I have it as a addon in the op

Yes you can flash n00bles stock de odexed rom and flash the aosp lock screen. If your worried about loosing data I've herd you don't need to wipe to flash his rom over stock but you can look for dreamsforgetton template. His template deodexes your system with out wiping anything. But before you flash any thing please do your self a favor and make a back up with cwm

its all good. appreciate the replies
Through CWM flash the zip in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814789&highlight=theme+template
This will leave your phone as is and deodex (merges your .ODEX files into the apks in both system/ and framework/ so you can any theme) your current rom.
Secondly flash this from CWM after:
http://www.4shared.com/file/udiKZ_62/VanillaLock.html
That is the direct link from MysteryMotionz Emotionless Beast theme for DI18 download of JUST the AOSP Lock Screen.
The dialer I'll leave you to find one you like.

Question...using ROM Toolbox

Question...using ROM Toolbox I tried to install the transparent status bar it requested reboot but nothing changed. Is this app not compatible with our phone? Stock ROM rooted. Do I need deodexed stock for this to work?

I believe you need a de-odexed ROM. I use StrongSteve's Odexed EL29. Using ROM toolbox I can change the battery meter and the wi-fi meter, but even so, I can see the 'defaults' every now and again 'hiding' under the updates. Since one of the limitations of an Odexed ROM is that you can't flash themes, I think it's safe to say that most of the ROM Toolbox tools under 'Interface' are not going to work for you.
If it matters enough to you, you could always flash a de-odexed stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1429243

Well running a complete de-odexed ROM and none of the icon themes are working...I miss me EVO lol

[maybe?] aokp themes

what would it take to make themes like
this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527525
or this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1512762
work with aokp on our devices?
i realize its the same theme but one's for 32 and 31, as well as one being for the gNEX and the other for NS4G. I know gsm phones make a difference, but what? And how can they work? Im gonna do some testing a little later so wish me luck. lol
I've been waiting for this thread to pop up. How difficult is it to port AOKP themes to our device, or even create our own?
the ns4g theme will work for us, its been mentioned in the before through out the thread
So, the thing for me, is that it sucks trying to track down themes that will work with this phone. In the rules, we're not allowed to post anything we haven't made. What can we do to make it easier to find working AOKP themes here?
Make a thread with links giving proper credit to the actual creators.
this has been posted twice in q & a once by me and then another within the past few days. U will probably find a little (not much) info there.

Anyone know if themes will work with Nocturnal Venom? It's AOKP but has also been changed a lot.
I've also flashed galaxy nexus themes over aokp. They have so many over there. I just couldn't get rid of the navigation bar. Probably because they need it on there's. Maybe I just got lucky by flashing them but not my fault if you mess something up.

Would you mind saying what you did to brick it. I want to flash some galaxy nexus themes but am not sure how to. I would assume it would be:
Odin el26 recovery
Flash Theme
Flash ICS kernel
reboot
Correct?
Edit: Was it because that theme was for the GSM galaxy nexus???

[Q] AOKP Questions

I have a few questions about the AOKP rom for the Samsung epic 4g:
1. Is this an MTD rom(im pretty sure it is)
2. If I flash AOKP from CM9 and don't like it and I made a backup from CM9, can I restore that backup and all my apps and preferences will be restored, or no?
3. If I flash AOKP will I lose all my apps from CM9.
4. What are the differences between CM9 and AOKP- mainly battery life and performance?
I will try to answer some of your questions.
1) Yes it is MTD
2) Since they are both MTD, if you make a nandroid of CM9, you should be able to switch back with no problem.
3)Someone else will probably know this one better than me.
4) I know they both come from the same source and are similar but from what I've read AOKP has the better battery life. I'm not sure if performance is much different.
Mainly aokp has more features. You don't have to wipe and your apps will stay.

That is usually recommended for best results but not needed for coming from another ICS ROM. Run a nandroid, wipe Dalvik and cache and flash.

The devs were especially asserting this during the change in builds from Android 4.0.3 to merged Android 4.0.4 a few releases ago..............also for those jumping from other ROMs, but as it has been stated you're ok to not have to wipe coming from CM9...............or else just wipe the two caches prior to flashing + remember to flash GApps 20120317 (+ be sure to make a Nandroid!)
.........sent from today's android = 4.0.4
Ok, so I flashed AOKP but there is just one problem and I also have one question:
1. when I toggle "Enable bar" in the notification bar settings and it says to reboot, when I reboot my status bar dissapears!
(2.) In CM9 there was a toggle in the status bar that toggled 3g, Is there a mod for this in AOKP?
Quick question: Does roaming work on the latest build?
Thanks!

[REQUEST]Add just a menu button to the Nav bar?

I'm currently running Viscious jb ROM. I miss the features on aokp to customize the Nav bar. Is there a quick/flashable way to just add a menu button? I would like to have them in this order. I tried the mod from here: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/29153-mod-411-jelly-bean-soft-key-mods-with-menu-and-search-stockbb/. It worked for me on stock 4.1.1, not sure if it would work for the ROM you're running.
It doesn't mod the battery and adds just the menu key, but it also doesn't put the four nav keys in the order you want.

Already tried it and it didn't work maybe because my rom is completely stock odexed. About the backup I always do it, and I even backed up the SystemUI separately, thank you for the information.

Not many mods will work for you if you're on an odexed ROM, I'm guessing that's what went wrong.
