[Q] ICS or Arconium ics 2.1 - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wanted to post at arconium thread to ask but xda wont let me,so i thought i might as well just post it here.
I'm using arconium 2.1a with stock kernel at the moment.
And i came across a few problems, not sure whether if its ICS related or arconium related.
1st:I cant seem to have any contacts at the contact bar.BUT i can see my friends name under the call log bar as well as in the sms sender,i can see who sent sms to me,their name is displayed with their phone number.(I imported my contacts using the backup on my sd card).
2nd:I enabled touch sounds under settings>sounds.and its suppose to have a sound whenver i touch the screen, but the problem is i cant seem to control the volume of the sound. Its too loud in my opinion,is it possible to control the sound?
3rd:I enabled screen lock sound but the sound is too squeeky..I notice this during gingerbread too,and i thought my phone is faulty or is this the default sound?Anyway, before i come to arconium,i was using cm9 and i love that screen lock sound. Is there anyway to change the screen lock sound?
Last but not least, hope somebody will be able to help me and forgive me for my blocks of text.

weird default ringtone that i cant change on cm7

hey i recently upgraded to cm7 and ever since then, i have this weird default ringtone thats a mashup of a few mp3's i have (always the same mashup btw).
anyway, when i try to change the ringtone, i can select something else and it is selected but when people call me its still the weird mashup.
i tried searching for anyone else who had this problem and i couldnt find anything. anyone have any ideas?
just go to ur music and select the ringtone frm there or put ur ringtones in ringtones folder in media
doesnt work. again, i can set the ringtone and in settings it will show the correct ringtone selected but when i get a call it will still be the weird ringtone.
Did you do a full wipe of your Data/System/Dalvik Cache etc before installing CM7?
yup .
Doesn't help with a real solution I'm afraid, but I've got the same problem. Overriding it in "profiles" seems to work though
haha thanks that worked!
stupid bug though

Sorry that iam slow in the brain...but what do you mean by Overriding it in "profiles"!?
Regards
I have the same problems on a brand new with stock rom Android 2.3.3.
Override it in profies? What does that mean?
Go to profiles and set the ringtone from there.
Simple.

Device: HTC Wildfire, 16GB Kingston micro SD
ROM: CM7
Recovery: CWM
Status: Overclocked @ 726 MHz - stable
I had the same issue and had to do the same fix. Setting it in profiles did work. Weird.

Huge sound settings bug

You can easily miss this one but it is very unpleasant if it catches you off-guard. Please read carefully. I posted this in the Desire and Desire S forums because those are the phones on which I discovered the bug. If anyone has anything against it please feel free to delete either thread.
I found a humongous BUG in a new Sense / GingerBread (I haven't tried FroYo, it may exist there also). I confirmed it on Desire with AceSMod007, SGBS and Cool3D Sense 3.0 and original stock ROM on HTC Desire S. Whatever the culprit is, whose ever fault it was, HTC or Google screwed up big time (something like famous -88dBm-wifi-stupidity)!!
Problem and how reproduce it:
1. Put your child to sleep (important!)
2. (…2 hours of hard work later ) Set the ringer volume to minimum so that you can hear it in a complete silence while your kid sleeps and you are working on your computer. Or you could be on a meeting… my point remains. Let's say that 30% is enough for the ringer volume.
3. Do whatever you want with the phone: play YouTube video (on very low volume, of course), enter your favorite navigation app, browse contacts, surf the web, change sound profiles with the official HTC widget… but please, for the love of god, DO NOT touch the Dialer App (the big phone button at the bottom of the screen)
4. As soon as you enter your Dialer App (weather you are about to make call or you are answering the incoming call or you just want to see call history) the strangest thing happens: our beloved phone decides that it would be appropriate to increase System sounds volume to maximum.
5. That is not the biggest problem. This one is IMPORTANT: After you initiate a call (using Dialer) ringer volume goes back to the value it had previously when you received your last call. Weird?! Steps to reproduce a problem:
a. set your ringer volume to X%, (X > 0)
b. receive a call (call yourself from your other phone and reject it), note that X% should now be "remembered"
c. set ringer volume manually to Y% (Y ≠ X, use some extreme values to tell the difference easily, say 10% and 90%)
d. enter Dialer app and call anyone (12345 will do),
e. hang up
f. check the ringer volume – it went back to X% (scary? )
g. in special case, if you initially set X to 0% the ringer volume will not revert to 0% but will stay Y% instead (hence the X > 0 restriction in the first step)
6. Ask yourself: Why the hell Dialer app changes my systems sounds or ringer volume and should I really (REALLY?!?!) check the ringer volume each time after using my phone just to be sure nothing will go wrong in a "silent environment"??? WTF?!?
Can you guys confirm this please? I checked system sounds volume using sound mixer in Notification Toggle app but I am sure there are other ways to check it. Ringer volume is present in the settings.
I am planning to contact HTC but knowing how useless is their support do you think a petition is the solution? Or should we send them a ton of mails?
Note: Once more, this is tested with Sense ≥ 2.1 and GingerBread ROMs (including Desire S stock). You can try it with FroYo if you like.
Best regards to all of you!! I enjoy being part of this community and during past few years it taught me a lot.
Thank you!
Nice catch, any reports on devices from other makers than HTC?
interesting..
Nasty!
For those that have the all powerful (although not free) tasker application, I wonder if we could use it in order to reset volume levels to ensure that you don't get bitten again!
Not got time right now to test....I wonder if bug still there on sense 3.0 and sense 3.5?
hmmm very interesting...

I really hoped that devs like you will stumble upon this thread. Now we have a chance... or at least a hope.
I wonder how things are doing with AOSP GB ROMs? Anyone?

Thanx for the suggestion! I am using Llama for a while and I totally forgot about Tasker. I played a bit with Tasker Trial version today and it can be "fixed" this way. Althougt Tasker must be paid for after 7 days and this is not actual solution... but it works If anyone needs Tasker guidance feel free to contact me.
This strange sound bug is present in the official ("developers") 2.3.3 Gingerbread update for the Desire, tested and confirmed!

Sound When Ringing Anybody

The sound when I ring someone the beep not the ringtone or any other sound seems to have changed today... I'm guessing its due to me trying out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1385236 and supercharger v6 + the v8 3g and kernel tweaks...Anybody know which one of these changes messed with the settings?
Most likely JIT or supercharger but cant be sure, just uninstall those and see if it's fixed if not uninstall the rest, still not working? backup, reinstall rom
Just reflashed using SEPC and the sound's still there =S - Forgot to add sometimes the old sound rings...

I thought i understood your problem but i don't please explain fully
Basically, the tone I hear when I ring somebody(they haven't picked up yet) the "beeps" has changed . Although occasionally on random calls it's back to the original tone.
That's mostly a network issue then, specially since you've changed everything on the phone, try a different sim card and try ringing off that
Yea, thought so, but the fact that it was the same on unchanged stock means it wasnt anything I'd done

[Q] Automtically silent mode after 10 pm

Hi,
I hope some of you can help me.
I just got an Xperia Arc S.
Some how, the phone turn it self into silent mode every night at 10 pm. I have no idea about how and why this setting is applied to my pohone.
I do not have any app specifically for this.
Does anybody know how to remove/change this? I have searched every inch and corner of the phone. It is very inconvinient that I do not hear my calls after 10 pm.
I know I can use apps to administrate profiles, but would like to know why and hoe this is happening.
I have installed the new ICS - and every thing seems to work just fine - but the problem was there before I installed this.
Hope some body can help.
N.B. After updating to ICS the option for sound control when the screen is locked, has now be replaced with the camera instead - can this be changed?

When im talking on the phone my notifcation ringer wont turn off at all.

So when im talking on the phone and i get a incoming text message or email you drag down the notification bar and it stops ringing NO not my phone it keeps going until the entire ring-tone is done. Normally this is not a problem when your ringtone is 1-3 seconds long BUT when your ringers is an entire minute+ long its a HUGE problem cause you cant hear what the person is is saying with loud music coming through the same speaker....Ive been keeping the tones short lately but this problem needs to be addressed......The only way for the music to stop is to let it play all the way through or restart the phone ive tried opening the message and i tried deleting the message nothing works but those 2 options can some1 help btw im on fd26 but this has been a problem since i can remember at least build fd19.
The issue appears to be that a ringtone has been assigned by default for notifications. If this is from a custom ROM load, it should be addressed (clearly) with the developer, not here in the Q/A section.
The only thing you can do to correct the problem for now is to change the notification sound for each app (and the default one as well) to a proper one.
im on a stock rom so im not sure if its a bug or just my phone issue.

Totally stock? You changed the notifications sounds and it's working correctly now isn't it?
