And some others recommend RAM Manager Pro.
I am not sure, but I use Zepps V6 SC [latest beta''s linked] for it's use of KAK also, and Nitro, and Widgets for Fast Engine Flush [Recover RAM] and Super Clean Reboot, wiping the Dalvik on reboot!!!
And, of course, it's free!!! but you can donate to Zepp

When you run v6 supercharger you can use option 21 for nitro lag. It is ment to help with smoothness and make it more snappier.
You can also add daily schedule's with script manager to run a fast engine flush(Recovers ram and reduces lag) and then you can have widgets on your homescreen to make sure its working or to use different settings as in more multitasking or aggressive settings...
I use ram manager myself as i find it better for gaming. Simple as irish said. V6 is free but Ram manager is easier to use and less complicated but you cant run engine flushes or wipe dalvik cache. But ya can wipe dalvik cache with Titanium backup or Clockworkmod and then and quick reboot helps as well...

I would recommend you go to the link I provided, and learn about V6 directly, by reading Zeppo's own words, and the comments of various users, there is much to learn, and it is useful.
I have compiled this little Slide Show, to show how widgets, Fast Flush to regain Memory, and Superclean Reboot, clearing the Dalvik Cache....
I used Script Manager [ads] in conjunction with V6 SC......
and the scripts are Zeppo's.....
you must make them Favourites, and Root, in Script manager!!!!
BTW, Hi Snwman....
AKAIK, TB only allows you to Clean Up Dalvik......
it doesn't wipe it if it deems it not necessary, in other words, if you have Apps which match what Dalvik has....
SuperClean wipes anyway...poof!!!!

Your right had a look there thought it said wipe. But you can always use CWM to wipe dalvik cache.
Either way it's best to try each out them out and see what works for you
I use v6 supercharger for a while, and very satisfied with the performance boost so far..
Try it for yourself
i am using v6 superchager, and it is awesome
I'm using the V6 script as well and just to add to everything that's been said,I noticed if you're running stock TouchwiZ and you have empty homscreens, don't delete them. Its better to keep all 7 homscreens.Deleting them seems to permanently take away the smoothness you get after using the V6 Script. Can't explain why but just my observation.

Correct, good catch, I edited the OP.

Is anyone trying this rom ? Hello where are you people !
VillainROM 11 has been working flawlessly for me all day with significantly greater battery life than 10, and any other 2.1 ROM for that matter! Hoping this is will be my last flash for some time.
Flashed after dalvik wipe from 11, add all seems well. Are there any changes from 11

Lots of stuff in the OP that wasn't in 11. Livewallpapers, Rosie config, Friendstream, News widget fixed, etc.
Great work as usual! Downloading now.
And one more to say that after a dalvik wipe from 11.9.1 everything is fast and stable.
First ROM (besides your test release) that im 110% satisfied with.
All connections work, WIFI, 3G with GPS and navigator, no problems at all.
Thank-you for your hard work.

this rom is spot on, fast and stable, big thanks & congratz on a fine rom
INCREDIBLY long boot time, just completely wiped + reflashed as I think it was bootlooping... never had this before on a ROM.
This is the final rom until froyo ones. No more flashes backups etc.. GOOD WORK SUPERB rom. Thank you so much !
Edit :Much much faster without ocerclock widget , and supports Turkish ! ( with morelocale)
Thanks guys for this great rom!
Seems to have everything I want from a rom! I have removed the apps you included (personal choice), but have left things like FriendStream and all the generic Android/HTC Apps.
Seems very fast and stable so far.
Good stuff!
Oh and Dalvik to Cache, hehe, thanks! Love the amount of free ram!

Re-Introduce Orange Glacier 2.0.0
The reason I created this ROM is NOT TO COMPETE with anyone else, it is mainly for myself. I wanted a light weight ROM that's STABLE and FAST but I also wanted to try something slightly different.
I WON'T BE Updating this ROM unless something is Seriously WRONG with it...
(I WON'T BE taking FEATURE REQUESTS and such, most can be added by yourself from various mods found in the Theme and Apps sub forum )
So here it is: Orange Glacier ?!?!?!?
Why the name:
Because ClockworkMod Recovery (3.0.0.5+) for Gingerbread is colored Orange for EXT 4 partitions and since this ROM uses EXT 4 File System (FS) as its primary FS, I decided to name it this way.
So what is in this Orange Glacier?
1. Completely rebuilt from Stock Image
2. Uses exclusively EXT 4 FS
3. Moved all optional Apps to /data/app partition for easy uninstall (including most Google Apps)
4. Rooted, /system set to RW by default
5. Deodexed, Zip aligned all /system/apps and framework files using ROM kitchen from fellow XDA member.
6. Dalvik memory boosted from default 24MB to 36MB
7. Few CFS tweaks
I want to Thank the following:
TeamSilence for inspiring me to start it all,
Pack for the awesome battery mods,
dsixda for the easy to use ROM kitchen (highly recommended to anyone interested in cooking their own ROM, it CAN'T be easier than what he provided)
Installation:
The File ==> Orange Glacier Version 2.0 <==
WARNING: The INSTALLER WILL ERASE ALL USER DATA AND SYSTEM DATA!!!
Requirement: MUST HAVE CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY 3.0.0.5+
1. Reboot into recovery
2. Wipe Cache Partition
3. Install zip from SDCard
4. Once installation is completed, select Reboot System Now
Note: Upon first reboot may take up to 4~6 mins.
The following pre-installed Apps will need to be updated MANUALLY from Market by searching for their names:
Google Search
Youtube
Google Maps
T-Mobile MyAccount
T-Mobile TV
Qik Video Chat
TwonkyMobile
Google Street
All Built-in Games (Monopoly, NFS etc)
or they can all be easily un-installed because they are NO LONGER System Apps.

There's nothing special about this ROM.. It's mainly stock with the tweaks I mentioned in the OP...
stock is good for my battery i need battery more than fancy animations and all this gingerbread stuff
Sweet! Downloading now. Thanks Faux!
BTW, are there any known bugs/issues Faux?
Everything you have done is so amazing, so everything you do, we would pay special attention~~Tky Faux!!
nothing wrong basically itsstock with a few additions like battery mod and lil visuals here and there and speed up alot i dont feel no lag at all everything works idk bout ffc on qik cause my girl dont have but evrything is good to go
Well, this ROM gives me the best data speeds i have ever had. Unfortunately, every time that i reboot, it erases all of my screens. not sure why and OP says no support for this ROM. So i guess i will flash something else. It pains me to have to give up the data speeds.

He actually stated no support unless something serious is wrong. That seems pretty serious if happening to others as well. I would love to load a "de-bloatwared" stock image with good speed and full functionality. I can't wait to hear more feedback on this one.

First of all let me thank all you member of this newborn community which is the Galaxy W's! Without you guys there would be no point in releasing this anyway.
First off credits:
Arco68 for helping me guiding me in this odyssey that is making Android builds and teaching me how the updater-script thing works and for allowing me to test some stuff which really helped me release this. Also for his custom Ancora kernel
knzo for helping me get started with Android and giving me the first tips that helped me want to learn more and do more. Also for his build.prop tweaks which are pretty handy
qzem for being one of the motivators behind the community and how got us the RZR Recovery as well as getting me Arco's kernel when my computer was being a slut.
dsixda for his awesome kitchen in which I cooked this ROM.
zeppelinrox for his funtastic V6 Supercharger script
Now what does this ROM have?
It is based on the Samsung Stock 2.3.6 ROM (latest EU ROM) but has been modded for better performance.
- Deodexed
- Zipaligned
- Rooted
- Busybox'd
- Has task killer tweaks
- /data/app functionality
- Custom Kernel by Arco68
- Roboto Font from Android 4.0 (ICS)
**NOT SO SMALL (xD) AND (POSSIBLY) MOST STABLE RELEASE YET**
The only things left from the TouchWiz UI are the Launcher and the Social Hub (because I really like it. The Hub that is. Launcher sucks balls.) apart from things tied to the framework like Phone, Contacts and Messaging.
In the instruction at this time (time of V3 release) I'll leave also instructions to integrate V6 Supercharger by zeppelinrox which should make the phone much more fun to use
A OC Version of the ROM is coming in the next few days aswell, as soon as I make sure it is stable.
Without further ado here's the link:

Instructions for Flashing:

(2) Make a backup of your current ROM;
(3) Wipe data/cache
(4) Format /system/
(5) Flash the ZIP
(6) Enjoy.
Instructions for V6 Supercharger
(1) Download this file and put in somewhere in your memory card
(2) Go to the Market and download "Script Manager"
(3) Open Script Manager and go to Config and choose "Browse as Root"
(4) Browse to where the script is and choose it
(5) Select only the ROOT symbol and then RUN
(6) First choose option 2 and when asked again choose option 6 (if you feel like taking a chance, choose option MEGA RAM 2) and V6 will install.
(7) After you are done with installing browse to /data/ in the memory of the phone, a file called 99SuperCharger.sh will be there
(8) Choose it, select run at boot
(9) Reboot and you should be done, enjoy.
For SuperCharger updates check HERE

AnTuTu Score w/ OC and Supercharger (option 6): 40xx
(If you're updating from V1 or V2, I advise you to backup your apps and do a full wipe)
NOTE: IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH VIDEO, JUST INSTALL A VIDEO PLAYER AND IT WILL WORK FINE. I RECOMMEND MX VIDEO PLAYER.
F.A.Q.
(1) Will this ROM work on the Exhibit 2 4G?
A: No idea. Ask the devs for the Exhibit 2. The hardware is quite similar but some things do differ.
(2) Is this CM7?
A: No, it is not. I'll get on that when I can.
(3) What are the advantages of this ROM over stock?
A: It is rooted and much faster. Try it out yourself.
(4) What are the surprises you were talking about?
A: Unfortunately they couldn't be released at the same time as this ROM, so you'll just have to wait.
(5) Will you update this further?
A: As of V3, I dunno. I pretty much done everything I had to do to make it work as powerfully as possible.
(6) Is this overclockable?
A: It is as of V3, download the OC Rom.

KP, a small question.
Now that the phone reads the external sd as the internal memory, I can finally see some use for the 16gb micro sd I was given for Xmas.
But I do want to keep all the data I already have on the one I was using up to now, so if I transfer the whole card on my PC and then on the other (bigger) card and finally put it in the phone, will I have all my data or will I be missing something because they are hidden Android system files?
I wanna sleep now it is 4am 'ere but because of this.....Thanks to All for BullDozing......

Those IO results are not real anyway. ...And thats only for data2sd / data2ext. Increased IO score when /data partition is moved to sd-ext is a bi-product, but it doesnt make the device any faster. Its just due to read / cache.
Benchmark means nothing except showing off. Benchmarks on my rom are not the fastest, yet in real life usage, its very fast.
Yes of course. I know the general opinion of these tweaks is that it is just for showoff, and that it dosent really show for real.
Are you familiar with other speedtweaks that actuallly does improve performnace?
And still. Are you familiar with the formatting and rules to the init.d scripts? I really want to apply the tweaks posted in the attachment in the first post.
Help me please.

Not those particular tweaks no,

Ok :good:
From my experience most of these tweaks are not needed if you are using Arcos CM9 or CM10, as the ROM is already opitmized.
When I was using Samsungs GB ROM some of these tweaks indeed improved the ROM, but while trying them in CM9 there was almost no difference because as I already said Arcos ROMs are already highly optimized.
Furthermore I find it very risky tu use them all together. Especially speaking about the Dalvik VM Tweaks. They can make the ROM unstable and cause misbehavior. It´s also known many build.prop tweaks that work well in GB and are improving the ROMs bahavior are causing the opposite in CM9 and CM10.
What I´m missing here is a full list of the tweaks that are added into this build.prop and what changes where made to the Dalvik VM.
A flashable Zip which is also making a backup of the present build.prop would be also preferable.

yes I know that and I also recognize cm10 pretty good performance compared to GB or CM9.
but I have a problem when I play HD games, I get LAG. I tried to tweak the build.prop and the results are quite satisfactory and I can play hd games smoothly without install script.
I agree with honeyx - instead of re-using and re-merging tweaks, that initially came up years ago, we should focus on evaluating and mythbusting all those things.
The problem especially with such compilations is, that they contain dozens of configuration changes, initially thought for other android versions or devices. In many cases they simply have no effect or they make no sense.
Besides this, some changes can also be set via the UI:
E.g.
Code:
persist.sys.purgeable_assets=1
[...]
persist.sys.use_dithering=0
is also available via the Performance menu in CM (and i would not recommend to activate the first one).
I appreciate the effort made by bacrot78, but i do not think its the way to go when tweaking Android.

I understand your point, but again. In the first place i doubt all the tweaks there are necessary to improve the performance in games. Most of them can be applied via the UI without the need to add them into the build.prob. Others are already implemented into the kernel, so also no need to add them into the build.prob.
The ones that probably imprived your gaming experience are the Dalvik VM tweaks. But changing them can improve the performance a bit but cause instabilities. So you are turning your stable ROM into a unstable pre Alpha state just to play your games a bit more fluent.
If I were you, I wouldn´t play with the Dalvik settings but leave them as they are and wait till Arco releases Kernel 3.x with full butter support. He is often also updating the GPU libs, which can also boost up your games.
This is not just a good advice because I´m talking from my own experience where I also tried to optimize the Dalvik settings by just enabling and disabling some features to make the phone act faster. The result was an unstable SGW which kept to be unstable even after restoring my backup I made before adjusting the settings. So I had to make a total reset to get it working like before.
Furthermore adding such tweaks into the build.prob is like playing lottery. You can find one setting alone will improve some things. Another setting alone will do the same with other things but both together will cause the ROM to become usntable.
So it´s like XR-7 already said. This thread should be better changed into a discussion with the focus on evaluating and mythbusting all those build.prob tweaks. By trying them separately. One after the other and together.
Owh good review. I respect you, this thread turned into a discussion thread was not a problem maybe we can review together with the requisite mod BP installed ROM without a script. Since I also need input from all of you.
thank you
