If you abort repo sync will continue when you use repo sync again.

Ya it should restart where you left off

[Q] Compile CWM from source? Cant find repo?

I want to compile CWM for a kernel i like but every tutorial i find tells me use repo and sync with CyanogenMod github or something like that. Well every site i go to to find a way to get repo has a broken link to the site. So is there a way to compile CWM from sources without repo? Or can anyone show me a like to a repo download for Ubuntu 12.04? I mainly just want to compile CWM to change the color and add an AROMA File Manager option to it.

Scary huh...LOL! Your name is on your Build Prop in your builds.
yeah but still... Google is scary!!
but anyway, I'm glad that someone enjoys the ROM.. tbh I just built them from source, so I think the performance should be identical to AOKP team's releases.
the reason i built them myself is i want to use bleeding edge builds, AOKP team have always been doing awesome work constantly, but they don't release builds that often, so i decided to build them myself..

CM-11 Snapshot M13

If, like me, you despaired of CM ever releasing another "stable" version of CM-11, your wait is over.
I found out they had FINALLY done another M-SNAPSHOT code freeze, so I synced the source and built one of my own.

Link removed. Apparently we can't post links to builds any more without a full kernel code dump in the post.
If anyone is actually interested, PM me and I'll send you the link.

This has been the case for as long as XDA has been GPL compliant. Any distribution of a binary (meaning kernel boot, img) that is not unmodified manufacturer's stock requires a link to kernel source, not a code dump. Anyone building CM from source should have no issues getting the link to source code and including it.

There is no kernel source in that link. Please post proper kernel source.
Edit: Thank you for updating the link to kernel source

GPL Source Request

Hi all,
I've created an issue on Motorola's kernel-msm repo that is a request for them to release the kernel sources for the G 5 Plus (Potter).
The post is here - https://github.com/MotorolaMobilityLLC/kernel-msm/issues/104
Please feel free to reply with similar requests so as to get Motorola moving on a proper GPL source release.

:good:
The sources are already out....
Oh really? My bad... Can I just pull from that kernel-msm repo mentioned in the original post? Or is there a different repo just for Potter?
It looks like the source release for NPN25.137-15 is tagged here:
https://github.com/MotorolaMobilityLLC/kernel-msm/tree/MMI-NPN25.137-15/
It's a bit older than the version shipped with my phone but it could work. I'm going to see if I can compile it later.

Why'd you edit your post? I took a look at Alberto's repo and it looks like it would be compatible with our phones.
Seemed like a decent course of action to take. Did you try it yourself? Did it work? Don't just provide no reason, let's get hacking...

Man yes let me mention the guy who successfully able to build with Alberto's sources. He is @i.snehal.kiran.
He has done this to compile but unfortunately for some reason he doesn't able to get the device to test. His msg is below
basically i have taken addison device tree ...just change the kernel path and defconfig name in boradconfig.mk ..makes it build boot.img
the source provided by motorola on github is full of errors..so use alberto's kernel for addison till you get official kernel from moto
https://github.com/Alberto97/android_kernel_motorola_msm8953
I edited the post bcz I thought u want to work with custom kernel for stock rom. And I thought this might not be useful.

So what happened next? Did you tried something?
Edit:- btw one of the guy has replied positively on issue. :Good: I think we'll have a separate source soon.

I got as far as getting the LineageOS sources pulled for 14.1, had to do it twice since it was too big for my home directory so I had to create a new volume and run repo sync again. Took forever, but at least I have the OS sources downloaded. Now we're at the point of getting that kernel and setting up a device configuration for our device. Once we get that, then I can see if we can build and flash.

The Error is repo is not reccoginzsed as an internal or external command, I have installed the repo, thanks for the reading the post

I'm working on porting one myself. Repo is available within the Ubuntu apt-get repository. That can be a simpler way to install. However I'd suggest the curl & chmod method method for the latest binary as well as getting good experience.

Follow the instructions to add the repository, then do an initial repo sync, I hope you have plenty of drive space cos some roms can take up many GB
The manifest instructions even link you to the guide for setting up git and repo
Ubuntu is usually the best platform for this, it might work in Windows subsystem for Linux but I've never tried so couldn't tell you.
Haven't built a rom for a while but you used to add device tree urls in .repo/local_manifests/roomservice.xml, it's probably still done the same way. (.repo is a hidden folder by default so, in Ubuntu, you would press CTRL+H to get it to show up)
If you don't know how to install repo then you will likely need to do a LOT of reading before you can even think of firing off a build.
