[Q] Wifi Direct - HTC One X

Hi guys,
Has anyone of you figured out a way on how to use this amazing feature ? Its pretty sweetly implemented in SGS, but the ONE X doesnt have any integrated functionality.
Tried to look for a 3rd party app. Cant seem to find any.
Have you guys been able to use it ?
P.S:
Wi-Fi Direct is a standard that allows Wi-Fi devices to connect to each other with no need for a wireless access point. (transfer files etc)

Any app to access my phone?

I have a sgs2, and for space reasons on the N7 I stored some movies on my phone for a long upcoming trip. Now I'll be deleting stuff as I watch it on my N7, just wondering if there's any possible way I can access another android device wirelessly or something without a network and grab some files off it?
Edit: I think bluetooth may be a viable option but it will be suuuuuuuper slow..?
Another user on here made this app, just can't find the original thread. The links below:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.budius.WiFiShoot
It uses wifi direct, I haven't been able to test it though because my arc doesn't support wifi direct

[Q][SOLVED] Wifi direct transfer without receiver installing any apps?

Hi,
I'm using Xperia Acro S rooted with CM10hikari installed.
I've been searching throughout internet and i can't still find the answer.
Here's the situation:
I have large collection of pictures i've taken during holiday with my friends. Now everyone want the pictures. How can i send all the pictures
1)without using Bluetooth, coz you know, it's super slow
2)without internet connection
3)using Ad-hoc mode, so no wifi adapter, just direct wifi.
5)My android becomes the host, so everyone can connect to me directly and copy the files.
6)NO APPS ON THE RECEIVER'S SIDE. ( it's not easy to ask 10 people to install Superbeam just so they can copy my files).
Samsung Jellybean has built in WIFI DIRECT, but CM10 seems to not have this feature.
I know the easiest way is just copy all of my pictures to my USB drive and then just pass around to anyone who wanted it, but for android sake, i just wanted to know if there's such a way.
Solved.
Used Fast File Transfer. Another awesome file-sharing app that can solve ad-hoc connection.

Airdroid is pretty cool. It can be connected either over WiFi or remotely over the internet. If you connect to your device via the internet though, you only have about 1GB worth of data transfer per month... Can send/receive text messages on your computer and transfer files to and from the device. It's not the same GUI as the device.
LG OSP is a neat idea, as well. Don't remember if it can connect via WiFi, but I know it supports USB connection. Basically, you get your phone's GUI and functionality on your desktop. I don't think this can be used in anything but official LG software.

Miracast or Screen Cast option during Hotspot being active?

Is the above at all possible? I've searched around for various options for what I'm looking to do and all avenues appear to have either been patched or I may possibly be on the wrong firmware.
Phone is a uk 855
Current FW is 4.4.2
The problem that I'm having is Chromecast while using my phone as a hotspot. I'm allowed to cast various apps, netflix, etc and they all work fine but what I can't do is cast the screen. This is very important to me as I'm trying to create a wireless connection in my car (As other users have done with different models).
On any of the google Nexus phones it's simply a matter of going to Settings>Display>Cast Screen. Is there a way of getting the G3 to do the same? A hack? A workaround? If there is, I can't find it so really need some guidance.
The issue I have is that Miracast disables the hotspot rather than using it and Chromecast just refuses to work without Wifi being on (which again would disable my hotspot). I simply want to connect my phone directly to the chromecast with no outside source of Wifi.
Apologies if I've missed anything important. I wasn't sure what information would be required.
Thanks
Updated to 5.0 and I still don't have the same options as the Nexus & Sony versions. Is there perhaps a custom firmware that I could use?
Sorry but I think no
Surprised to find a "No" with Android, a first for me

Native support for WiFi direct sharing

So I wanted to share some files with a friend of mine and I connected our phones through WiFi direct but the share button displayed no WiFi direct option either in solid Explorer or the built in file explorer. Is there a way to use WiFi direct without using apps?
I'm not sure if it works because it's 1:15 am and I don't have another device close to test, but if you enter the WiFi menu and click the 3 dot menu you'll find the Wi-Fi direct pairing UI. Once both devices are paired an option to share via Wi-Fi should appear, I'll confirm later on when I have another device to test it

This is what I tried. But didn't work. I am using viper though so maybe that affects something? Please test and share results. Thanks

You're right, it doesn't work, I tried with my friend's OnePlus 3 and they paired but there was no option to share on any phone. I usually have superbeam installed and some of my friends have too so I didn't bother about the native support.
After some research looks like android provides the protocol but has no native app to share via this method (like the android beam one which appeared in Lollipop if I recall right) in the past I used oem options like S-Beam for Samsung or Smart Share for LG devices but ironically and despite it being an open protocol, they worked fine just between phones of the same manufacturer (s beam or the Wifi Direct option working fine between Samsung devices only and smart share between LG devices) I don't know if that changed so far, I could try with my GF S7 to see if that changed but I don't think it would add to the topic.
Superbeam is like the general solution for me, but requires to be installed on both devices sadly

Haha I would've preferred native support because having the same app is generally too much of a hassle for instant sharing. I wish they would've implemented it in the share functionality on the file explorer but oh well. Really crimps the power of WiFi direct. Thanks a lot for checking though.
