[Q] Flashing firmware is necessary for now ? - HTC One X

Hi,
I unlock my device via HTCDEV and installed custom recovery.
my current rom is 1.26.707.X
Can i flash the boot.img & custom rom of mike for example , without flashing the 1.28.401.9 firmware ?
i know how much important is firmware, but i cant do it without de-brand my phone.. (that is not possible for now..)

No need to flash firmware, just flash boot.img and then ARHD

Install HTC sync (to get drivers), download the stock ruu (which you'll find in the parent thread) and connect your phone, then run the program. Done.
you can flash a stock ruu from fastboot mode if you have no rom on your device
Can't install the ruu's from the topic in development.,
got hboot 0.93.001.
can't find a ruu for that =(
have you tried flashing a PB99IMG.zip?
haven't found a good one yet.

You can't without S-OFF
and as i understood there is no S-OFF till now, right?
unlock the bootloader and flash it should work i think extract the kernel from the file and flash it seperatly from fastboot.
That is correct
what is kernel? how can i find it?

Doesn't work. Without S-OFF you CANNOT flash another stock ROM
You can flash custom ROMs, though, with an unlocked bootloader

Custom Recovery (clockworkmod, 4Ext, etc) would be necessary if you wish to be able to backup/restore your device via nandroid backups, as well as flash any roms other than Stock (i.e.: just bout everything in the dev forum).
So yes if you want a custom rom you need a recovery other than the stock one.

New One X rooting etc

Hi All
Just got a One X
My old desire HD used to be s-on so i guess the procedure is pretty much the same for rooting etc
If I didnt want to use the all in one tool is the rooting / custom rom procedure as follows -
Unlock bootloader with HTCDEV
Fastboot Flash a custom recovery
Install SU via recovery to root or flash a custom rom that is already rooted
Install custom rom via recovery then flashboot flash the rom's boot.img
Stu
Yep that's it !
Don't forget to make a nandroid backup of the stock rom and keep it safe. You need it to obtain official ota's from htc !!!

[Q] How to STOCK ROM with these files?

Hello, I have a rooted HTC One X with JB 4.1.1 & 3.20.401.1 (CID HTC_203)
There is no RUU file for 3.20.401.1 yet
Yesterday, I tried to revert into stock rom by 3.14.x.x RUU file and got "bootloader version error" so I'm still on this configuration.
Today, I've found this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546970 which gives some files about STOCK ROM.
Could somebody tell me how to use these files for flashing STOCK ROM with 3.20.401.1?
Are those files compatible with my CID as well?
Thanks in advance...
Well, basically you have to have an unlocked bootloader and custom recovery, witch you should have considering that you are rooted..
Now just download the odexed rom and boot.img and flash them using your recovery for rom and fastboot command for boot.img
However, If the only thing you did to your rom is root then you have the stock rom, just open SuperSU and tap "Full Unroot"
Thanx for your reply.I dloaded odexed zip file and flashed it by cwm recovery.finally I flashed original recovery. But i did not use boot.img since I was not using custom rom. (I had deleted some integrated system software, that's all) so how can i verify if the phone gets back to stock rom? Should i wait for htc sense 5 ota update to see if it's ok?

Well you ARE on the stock rom if you have flashed the odexed.zip
Unless you have a non-WWE cid...
You can post your cid here and I will tell you if you are WWE or what you are... The rom I sent you if for WWE CID's and will only get ota if you have a WWE cid...
If you have a different cid, like me (orang001 witch is Orange UK) you'll need to find that rom, or ruu to be able to get otas
To get your cid you can ether get an app from the play store or run fastboot oem readcid...
My device is from France. So my CID is HTC_203....
