Am I the only person who has thought of this? I have multiple batteries and it kinda gets old having to reboot every time I need to switch batteries, so I thought that maybe there was a way to mod 2 of them together in order to get longer battery life.

Good idea!
You'd have to figure out which terminals on the battery are Positive/Negative/Temperature. Then you want to connect the batteries in Parallel, (Positive to Positive, Negative to Negative) don't mess with the temperature terminal. Check the volts before and after! They should be the same!
I did a Google search in hopes someone else did this with a cellphone, but didn't find anything. So here is a Instructables about creating a external battery source. It has good information about what you want to do.
http://www.instructables.com/id/Double-Capacity-MintyBoost-with-4-AA-Battery-Holde/step10/Connecting-battery-banks-in-parallel/
Happy Mod-ing!
That is already what most of the "extended" batteries sold are and why they are twice the thickness. Hong Kong thought of it awhile ago.

I just keep an extended battery case with 2 normal batteries under it. But yes, good idea
sent from my always aosp epic
Perhaps take the housing of one of them cheap extended batteries and replace the 2 cells with 2 oem 1800mah samsung cells from the new epic.

What would be interesting would be to mod the software rules to allow a hot swap of batteries if plugged in... just my $.02

+1.....that would be a good mod
So I ordered a 1800mah battery for the epic. It fit and everything but literally while charging it and on browser on just data, the battery life decreases while on the charger. It also almost died at school today. On my 1500mah, I ended a 7 hour day with about 30-40%. On the 1800mah, I got down to 20 and below. If kind of makes me mad that I bought a bigger battery and out sucks. And what is a good 1800mah battery for the epic?

The battery from the Epic 4G Touch is your best bet. And as for it dying on the charger, it's the charger, not the phone or battery. I know this because it's happened to me. Try a different charger

Yes I ordered the Samsung epic 4g touch battery. And sadly it isn't my charger because I am using the same charger on my 1500mah battery and its charging fine.

Not always the charger.... When I'm on 4G and trying to use Google Maps even plugged in I drain my battery. If I shut GMaps down, it starts charging as per normal.
It was really frustrating when I first got the phone, as I was in the process of moving to Denver and knew where nothing was. Now, at least, I know the area well enough to just have it on at the start or end of trip.
The Anker samsung battery (search amazon for it .. ~$10 and 1800mah) has shown good results for me.

And if I do actually have a defective battery, I will try it. And does it actually give you more battery life and if so, how much?

it is normal for the phone to consume more power than the charging pack can output....... you might not of had this problem because the 1500ma battery uses less energy than a 1800mah battery(hence the extra life..) if you charge with a USB 1A charger it should charge the new battery better. also, turn of 3g and watch your battery charge about 2times faster than with it on.

Ok the battery consumption makes sense. XD. But then how about mutt phone battery dying a lot faster then the 1500mah battery?

Anker
And yes it does perform better. I have 2 1800 mAh Anker batteries and there amazing I got a deal for 2x 1800mAh batteries and the charger from Anker. For 20$ on amazon don't listen to reviews they said the charger is bad but mine has performed well for several months and still is. I. Had gotten 4 days before on CM9 with minimal use and on regular basis I get 12 to 18 Hrs with 3 Hrs of screen on time

This is the one I ordered -- getting about 20 hrs of battery life vs. 12 hrs on my stock (2 year old) battery. Non-OEM batteries are typically a hit or miss, but amazon's return policy is dead simple and free, so IMO worth a shot.

No problem, any other battery that isn't by Samsung would generally be non OEM
I know it's necessity is argued but I'd like to ask if anyone has noticed a difference when wiping battery stats on this phone.

No. and please search. There was a big thing about this a couple months ago from a Google engineer.

I am aware about the statement from the Google engineer but I have read other anecdotes about it making the battery percentage reporting more accurate. I was curious what peoples' experiences are with this phone.

The battery stats have nothing to do with actual battery life but can make a difference in the reporting of the charge level to the operating system. The only time i've noticed anything more than a negligible difference was when switching from the standard battery to a 4400mah extended battery. Before wiping the battery stats and letting the OS 'learn' how much charge the battery was capable of the battery gauge would fall down to 3-5% normally and stay there for hours on end, with the screen on and playing FF3 at the time.

Thanks. I'll probably do it when I have some free time since my battery life seems a tad bit short from what it should be. I usually get it plugged in before it goes under 20% so I don't know how it behaves at single digit percentages.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
I use my phone a LOT. Everyday, I end up charging it from around 30% to fully charged about two or three times a day.
How is this going to affect the life of my battery? How long should I expect my battery to last at this rate? I've never given it much thought before, as I've always had a removable battery, making replacement cheap and easy, but the LGOG just has to be different...
Dude stop being so OCD. A battery is good for about 2 years and by then who cares if the battery goes bad.

Hello! I have problem with my phone. When battery is on ~ 50% it is turning off. What i can do to stop it? Sorry for my bad english...
You should let us know more about your setup, like which ROM you are using, what kind of tweaks / scripts you have.
Check if you have some kind of software etc. with which you can setup a battery level threshold that makes the phone shutdown when crossed. I think I saw some Roms with that kind of setting but I maybe wrong.
The worst case is unfortunately that your battery is nearing its end of lifetime. What you describe is pointing to that possibility. How old is your battery? These batteries usually have 1000 charge/discharge cycles as their lifetime.
Note: there are so many threads about battery issues. Maybe the moderators can combine them and make it a sticky. So people will know where yo go....

Maybe someone can help me choose good battery what will work longer...
Well you can buy an original samsung battery if you can. Because there are some cheap knock offs and it is very difficult to tell whether they are as good as they say they are. However, there is one battery ( extended 2900 mAh) in the accessories section that is tested by many here and I heard good things about and almost doubles the usage time.
But it comes with its own battery door as it adds some bulge. Here you can find some info in this thread
Also you can check the discussion here
