Home Button Long Press - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi Folks,
Is there any way (widget/application/setting) to choose custom action on long home button press?
I would like to have this settings:
-simple click = go to the default launcher
-long press = open launcher menu selection & go into selected one
Thanks.

Try this: http://goo.gl/fZfTF

Tried the app, it almost works - can assign double tap to any custom launcher, but unfortunately can't assign single tap to the default launcher (!!!).

Custom roms like aokp have long press soft key actions

Yes you can!

As someone mentioned before, you can use custom roms to manage softkey actions. I'm using LiquidSmooth rom and here is a setting included. I would recommend using it since it is very close to stock.

Great App that allows you to create multiple sofkey shortcuts

I am always looking for Info for good apps, apps that make our phones function even better. Anyways I stumbled upon this app just by doing going through my Apps in the market and finding other apps related or "apps people also installed etc.
It is called home2 home shortcut. What is does it installs as another home launcher but is doesn't replace you current launcher. If you set it as default home it will ask you what launcher you want to use etc. One you do that you can set up the following to open and app and most shortcuts by doing soft key combos
Press home and home again - pick the app that you want to launch when you do the combo
Now click other settings below this above setting
Press home then search key - pick app you want to launch
Press home then back button -pick app etc
Press home and menu button - pick app that you want to launch when you do the combo
Here is a link.

[Q] Trouble with Lock Screen

have 2 question:
1.
Juggernaut 4.1, GO Launcher
using Go Locker (or any other ScreenLocker). My actions:
- Set GoLocker as default on press "home".
- Hold "home" and open TaskManager
- press "home" to return to homescreen
- ... and... my android ask me: request to the default action for "home" button
How can I solve this problem! Help, please!!
2.
Can i use another Kernel with Juggernaut ROM ? Other kernel need to use CallRecorder
Thank you for your answers.
Why would you want go locker set as your default home action? do you mean Go Launcher EX? It doesn't matter what setting you have for the home button; it will always launch task manager if you hold down the home button. when you press the home button and it asks for which app to choose, there should be a little box when choosing to set as default. If you want to change a certain default app. Go into setting applications, and find the default app. Then click on it, scroll down and click on clear defaults.
If you are looking for an app to lock your phone by pressing one of the soft touch buttons. I would recommend downloading "Screen Off and Lock" from the marketplace. It is free and works great. You can set it by holding the Search soft touch button on the bottom right of your phone.
Regarding your second question, Yes, you can install a different kernel. I would recommend wiping the cache partition and delvik cache before installing a new kernel. I have used Synergy kernel on several roms that come with a different kernel.
Please post your questions in the Question forum. You will get more answers and plus it wont clutter up the general forums.(A forum administrator has just moved your question into the Question Forum)
if i set as default home action - go launcher, after launch task manager appears that the same query.
This problem occurs when using the launcher pro or other lockers

Any way to change Home button?

Any way to change Home button double tap to recent app instead of S voice?

Try a different launcher such as Nova. You can assign the button to perform the action you want. Plus, at least for me, a scrolling dock is great. If you get Nova Prime you can also add gestures to perform your preferred action. There are others that do some of that too, but I have ended up sticking with Nova...
Good luck!

From what I can tell it is the always running s-voice app that intercepts the home press and so it waits for a split second for the 2nd home button double tap. It is not some function built into the system that can be hacked to something else. If s voice is disabled, the home button speeds up but there shouldn't be anyway to use double tap unless another app such as one of the 3rd part launchers is used. Maybe some one could make a mod of some sort to watch home button press and activate on a double tap for those who don't want to use a custom launcher.
personally i wish a double tap went directly to a google voice search
This is an option in S-voice settings . It's enabk d by default, but can be disabled. I've disabled S-voice on my phone altogether, so I can't remember exactly where it was. However, if you hit the menu button while in S-voice, you should see a lot option that says something along the lines of "open/launch S-voice by double tapping home key".
It will make the home button respond faster, however it won't launch the running app selector.
But, you can still launch the selector by doing a long press of the home key.

[Q] ROMS that can take screenshot WITHOUT using hardware button

I want to take screenshot without using hardware button (vol down+power), for example long press navigation bar or any other on-screen shortcuts.
I have tried AOKP rom but unfortunately the navigation bar doesn't have shorcut to screenshot.
Thanks a lot!

In some ROMs (like AOKP) you can edit the power menu to have a screenshot button.
It's buried in there somewhere, I'm using a stock MMuzzy ROM so I don't have the power to do that.
It's not exactly what you wanted, but you can hold down the power button and then take a screenshot with the button in the menu.

Can any ROM do this without even long pressing the power button?

Not that I know of, however, you can get an app like Screenshot Ultimate to have a button overlay, or even a button sitting static in the status bar.
Here's the trigger list to which you can set.
- Overlay icon which is visible on top of all screens (icon, button or custom icon)
- Shake
- Service icon click
- Audio
- Power connect/disconnect
- Folder listener
- Webserver
- Camera hardware button
- Long click search hardware button
- Custom shortcut
- Widget button
- Button inside the app
- Intent (Tasker support)
- Interval
- Cronjob
use any custom rom with Custom Ring Targets Settings, from there you can set a toggle to take screenshot
Cyanogenmod's navbar shortcuts can do it.
Just as you said, long pressing in the navbar (previous configuration obviously)

Custom navbars not working

Hi.
So I've been trying to get my navbar buttons to work as they did in my previous phone. What would be:
Recent apps short press: open menu
Recent apps long press: search
Recent apps double tap: open assistant
Home button short press: home
Home button long press: recent apps
Home button double tap: split screen
Back button short press: back
Back button long press: kill app
Remaping the buttons doesn't seem an option since the soft keys are not detected as buttons. I rooted my device as well.
I've tried several methods using other apps that should replace the stock navbar but those despite being shown they do nothing.
I would also like to have it so the home button is disabled when typing.
I would really appreciate some help. Thanks
-Device: OP5T
-OS: OOS9.0.5
-Rooted with magisk. Twrp recovery. No xposed
Most of the functions you listed can be achieved by using the navbar customization built into Oxygen OS. (Settings->Buttons->Navigation Bar->Customization) The kill app button could probably be done with Tasker.

Although it is true the actions themselves are available on the stock menu apart from search and kill app. The short press action cannot be changed
Ah, didn't notice the menu one. Just for curiosity, do apps still support a menu button function? I haven't seen a hardware menu button in years.

Oh yes they do. All of the ones I use at least it just opens whatever menu the app has that you would access by pressing on 3 dots. I just hate that some apps use other methods so you always have to think how to open the menu as oposed to just pressing the same thing
