[Q] Which of these Roms should I use? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys, sorry if this seems trivial, I feel bad for asking this after watching such an epic registration video (which by the way is better than reading all that stupid text and actually kept me interested).
I was deciding whether I should use Android Revolution HD or Codename Android for my phone, or if you think theres some other godly ROM I should be using. I'm trying to keep the phone as stock as possible while getting the tweaks to make the phone amazing.
Thanks~

Its all personal preference and all these devs do great work. Code name android was my go to for the past couple of days, switched over to the latest eclipse with Franco nightly kernel and I don't think I'll be switching back.

Stay stock, get a custom launcher and custom kernel is another route. I am stock imm76i, nova launcher prime and ogdobber's 3.1 kernel that allows uv's. I am a battery mizer so if you want some performance find another kernel.
bow chicka wow wow.

[Q] Query What is the best rom for Galaxy Gio?

Hi, Community
Guys, I new in the world android, but i decided to buy my firts android and is a Samsung Galaxy Gio.... a friend told me that these phones can be overlock the proccesor and much more.
but needed a rom mod to make all these things with a stock rom will not let me, here's my question which of all these roms are the most stable mod to work well as stock? and please tell me what are the bugs of all those roms mod if you have any?
Thanks guys for help me in the world android
For me the Particle ROM as I do not like custom launchers. I'm really satisfied with TouchWiz.
There is a small issue with Wifi though, it disconnects every once in a while.
Aside from that, stability, performance and battery life is very impressive.
hey there,
I use Particle Rom....impressive battery performance etc...
I also use a custom launcher with it called GOlauncher EX - I love it.
hey there
I've been using CyanogenMod 7.1 RC3 since a while, and for me it works perfectly.
However,I'm not totallly satisfied withthe battery lifetime, except that, it works awesome, I've been able tooverclock it to 883 Mhz.
And if you are satisfied with the TouchWiz UI, you can find a tutorial in CyanogenMod 1.st post, posted by me, it shows you how to put TouchWiz UI on CyanogenMod.
I hope I could help, however if youstill have any questions, PM me anytime I'm usually checking XDA.
I'm using GioPro 1.4 for 1 week almost and i have nothing bad to say about it, except the battery life ... can't get more then 24hours, but i'm playing 2-3 hours and wifi its always on. but it works like a charm. + I use GoLauncher ex and DT app2sd . i have arround 40 apps installed and 178mb free of phone memory
Using a CM 7.1 RC2 modded a few by me. faster and more stable of rc3.
Anyone had score in quadrant like 1800 apart from using CM 7.1 RC2?
Im using gio pro 1.4.& not many bug in this rom.simple & stable

There is no "best rom", what can be best for me...probably cannot be the best for you. So, this can be a redundant thread since everyone can have a different opinion. The best way to do it..try every rom..and the one you feel it fills your daily needs..that's the one
On that note, thread closed.

[Q] Recommend a ROM?

Can anyone recommend a ROM for someone who likes a stable phone, but also wants features like OC? I'd love to have something that auto updates (or manually updates) over the air so I don't have to keep re-installing all my apps. Currently on Android Revolution 2.1.3, but it reboots daily.
I would go with AOKP but to be honest getting recommendations from others is useless. You should put a few different roms on your phone and play with each for a few days to see which one you like. I did that but always ended up going back to AOKP. Have fun.
I recommend Apex
by bigxie + nova launcher. Stable, fast, excellent battery life, OCUV included.

I have tried a few of the available ROM's and so far the two I like the best are the Manhattan and Fox Hound ROM. Great battery life and very stable. Just passing along my experience on the GN GSM.
I recommend you make a Nandroid of your current set up and start downloading and flashing, just a thought...
curious as to why these threads pop up day after day the answers you are looking for are in the 1st page in development section. the popular roms stay on the first page, the popular kernels are included in the popular roms, and popular kernels as a stand alone generally stay on page one as well. each device acts differently to each rom/kernel, the CPUs are like snowflakes. no two are made alike, therefor a device that flies on rom 1 and kernel 2 may not runs as good as your buddies device with the same software he is using, rom 2 with kernel 1.
I would like to install AOKP, just wandering if it works with 4.0.2 it says its built off 4.0.3 so wasn't too sure. Also everyone uses francos kernel, but I wasn't sure if it works on CDMA phones when kernel is GSM? Or am i totally wrong im learning flashing soo im a newb still lol

A ROM like AOKP replaces your old system. So no need to worry about what's on your phone now.
As for the CDMA part, look in the CDMA developer section. All the comparable kernels, ROMs, etc will be in there.

im newbie in here..thats why im asking you guys..
Welcome to the forums as well!
Right now I'm trying out AOKP (Build 5) after coming off of CM 10 (M2). Both AOKP and CM10 are pretty rock solid to me - I've never had any issues with either of them. CM10 have higher benchmark scores than AOKP did, but AOKP (to me) has a much better battery life and allows for far more customization (colors, lock screen, menu, toggles, etc). But even though AOKP doesn't score as high, I don't see any "real" performance hit... if any. I've never really trusted benchmarks on how well my phone will perform... I just like having high numbers to show off ;D
Overall, AOKP is doing wonders for me! Running that along side Air Kernel (with my beloved SmartAssV2 governor).
Here's my advice to you:
- Download a ROM you think you'll like; CM10 for example.
- Go into your custom recovery (CWM or TWRP) and flash it.
- Get it setup the way you want to (ie: Add your apps, settings, kernel, etc)
- Make a Nandroid backup (include boot.img to keep your kernel)
- Wipe everything afterwards and flash another ROM! (like AOKP, Codename, etc)
Just keep doing that until you think you know what ROM you wanna use. Then you can just restore that backup you made and you good to go! ^_^

Rasbeanjelly + trinity kernel...

-Codename android is close to stock with some of the goodies from AOKP and CM10
-AOKP
-Paranoid android if you like messing around with the DPI
Those were my top 3 roms. Feel free to browse and choose a rom in the dev section.
Good luck!
I like MIUI. I recommend downloading different ROMs and trying them out and seeing which one you like. Some are similar to stock but enhanced functionality others are like HTC Sense or TouchWiz with a very different look and feel.
Try a few out.
I personally like the stock experience. Being with Verizon (Toro), we don't get the latest updates 'til probably around 6 months after. In this case, I use BuglessBeast to get the latest with stock experience. Hope that helps!
Read through some ROM posts before flashing. Bugs can pop up in the best of them. I personally like Codename. Just depends on how much customization you want. I agree with the other posts about trying more than one. After all that's half the fun.
My personal favorite is Bamf + diet kernel. There is no bugs what so ever and it is very stock with the customization features that you want.
Xenon HD +Trinity kernel ftw.

I'm running XenonHD form Oct24th. I have tried others and found this ROM working well for me. I did run the XenonHD from 9/29 prior to that. Apparently when I installed a version after 9/29, that one was not behaving well. So I went back to 9/29 until today.
Just finished the install a couple hours ago.
I find the battery life of the XenonHD rom to be very good (for what I do with the phone).
Surely there are many other great ROM's out there and the best ay to find YOUR Rom is to try a few.
Good luck and have fun with your GNex.

[Q] Stock vs rom

Hi there,
I bought a Galaxy Nexus last month (came from a LG 2x speed, waiting forever for an ics upgrade) and I got a question. Been running stock android and I'm rather pleased with that. I had CM10 on my LG, and miss some features of it, like the toggles and volume options. But I really like the stability of stock android.
Since 4.2 I've been experiencing some lag, now and then. Especially when scrolling in Whatsapp. Does switching to a custom rom, like CM10, Paranoid Android or MIUI make the phone notably faster? I read some roms have GPU-overclocking, will this make the lag go away?
And are such roms stable? I hate removing the battery or not being able to answer calls, makes me feel like an idiot.
I know this question probably asked some times, but the rom development changes every month and I couldn't find a similar recent topic. Summarized: should I be rooting my phone and install an awesome rom that kicks the ass out of stock android, or should I better stay on stock?
Thanks in advance!!
Greetings,
Remy

[Q] Recommend me a ROM?

I have had a look through the rom's for the i9195 and can't seem to decide which to get.
My main problems with the stock touchwiz rom are:
Terrible battery life (Having to charge twice a day sometimes)
Occasional lag
Touchwiz itself, I prefer stock Android
So I want a good stock rom, or something customised with cool features which I can atleast get a day's heavy use from.
I'll miss the little things like saying cheese to get the camera to take a picture, anything I can do to get this back?
It must be stable.
Everything must work.
Another thing I want but doesn't have to be incorporated in the rom is a launcher that supports placing apps inside the app drawer into folders, any suggestions? Must have the look of the stock android or nexus 5 launcher.
Thanks In Advance

I'm pretty sure asking for recommended ROM is against the forum rule, but since your problem lies elsewhere, so here it is: You can stay with TW ROM and improve your battery life by using custom kernel. The CPU governor is the main reason for poor battery life.
As for ROMs, well there's a few to choose from you got to do some research yourself. But I prefer Slimroms since it bare minimum.
You're free to use any launcher as you please even on TW. Note though flash kernel or ROM will trip knox.
well..
