What would cause Titanium Backup to stop restoring? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm using Titanium Backup and I am trying to restore everything on another phone, but for some reason, the backup process has stalled... any idea why?

It if you mean gets stuck at the "restoring" screen for an app, that's pretty normal for me. Just force close it, then try again.

reboot and try again..

Happens every time for me when backing up and restoring more than 10 or so things in a batch. It's like it forgets where it is and gets stuck. Like others say force close or reboot and off you go again

Yeah, that's what I've been resorting to... Wow, that is annoying. I have over 300 apps to install...
Given the fact that I have a 64GB memory card, remounting every time it boots, and other apps that have to start when it boots, that can get really annoying...

Just force close it instead of rebooting. Should save you a lot of time.

So obvious that it's embarrassing... OK, thanks...

Can anyone confirm that this error occurs on the PRO version of Titanium Backup as well? If it doesn't, it would certainly be worth the extra couple bucks.

Vibrate pattern. 1 long followed by 3 short?

I have seached and find reference to this pattern in multiple posts, but never an answer to what it means. Ever since ec05 my phone randomly does the pattern sometimes with no apparent problems or sometimes it happens while loading an app and then it force closes.
Thanks!

try re-flashing and that should solve your problem
Thanks, I will. I was just thinking there must be a meaning to the pattern. I seem to remember my moment did that once in a while also.

Any update if re-flashing fixed it? I'm having that problem as well, so odin again back to DI18 then flash using the update.zip again?
I have been busy all weekend and haven't had time. Will post results tomorrow. I just think there must be a description of what that means since I have had it happen on another android device also.
I think ultimately it may be a bad flash though because randomly I lose my signal and it doesn't come back until a reset. This happens when I am in a low signal area.

I get this too. Usually when an app is force closing.

for what its worth, i wend to eb13 with the samsung tool then to ec05 with the update.zip and its still happening though not as frequent, can't even use my phone as my alarm as it will crash with that vibrate pattern and i'll have to pull the battery, looks like may need to take it to sprint again...

Sorry it took so long to get back here.
I finally had time yesterday to go back to DI18. I couldn't remember the hard reset recommendations so I did that before and after running Odin. I was going to run the update.zip, but got sidetracked. When I got back to my phone it had d/l the OTA. I ran that then did another hard reset and cleared the cache. Then I ran 2.5.5 one click, and I may have even did one more hard reset at that time. (I know a little anal)
I also formatted my SD card (I think I read somewhere that this can be an issue also)
Since then I restored user apps and data through titanium and I have not had a single problem with the vibrate error.
The only thing I haven't tried on my phone is Sprint ID.
I'm thinking there are four possibilities, my flash to di18 may have been bad, the update.zip I used was slightly corrupted or didn't install properly, the SD card had issues now solved by the format, or it's Sprint ID.

You can view files in data/tombstones/ to find out which app is FCing.
can you elaborate on the hard reset?

vol down, camera, power. wipe date option
sorry maybe "hard reset" isn't used anymore, from the WinMO days.
if this happens to you check and see if you have the whoisit app installed this is what caused it on my epic just uninstall it
The 1-3 vibrate thing means an app has force-closed. If you are getting a lot of this after flashing a new rom and restoring apps and data, it probably means that the data is corrupted or not in a format that the new rom can deal with.
The only time this has happened to me is after I have gone from a rom based on eclair to a rom based on froyo, and even then it was the phone data, not the app data.

This mean that there is some corrupt data and that you need to do a system restore from a previous backup or reflash to fix this problem. Usually this happens when your phone turns off randomly or when you forget to wipe the partition or dalvik cache when flashing a Rom or a system file such as stock browser or keyboard through clockwork mode.

Force closes - all the time for no reason

My GF has been running CM7 for quite some time now. This is going on either the second or third time where over a period of at least 3 months, out of no where everything force closes. Boot times are maybe 3 times as long and practically every application force closes upon boot. Even trying to use applications causes force closes.
Has anyone had an issue like this? Starting fresh seems to fix it but only for a certain amount of time.
I'm thinking of just using her insurance to get it fixed, maybe she'll get an Incredible 2.

Clear cache, clear dalvik, and fix permissions might do the trick.

And, if restoring apps with titanium, don't restore system apps with data.
Sent from my Droid Incredible running a random CM7 nightly.
yea make sure she isn't sneaking in some /data restores
Well I use titanium to restore her games only. But I don't think that's the issue. It happens months after. If tried to fix permissions once, didn't work. Every tine I wipe I wipe everything.
I put the 2.3.3 liberation rom on so we'll see if stock fairs better.

If you restore data on the games then if you have any problems after that, that is probably the source of your problems.
It corrupts and jumbles up other data from other apps that cause FC's
If you backed up the games from a Sense ROM then restored it on AOSP then that will almost definitely be a problem, but sometimes people can get away with backing up, then restoring data on similar ROM's (like CM nightly builds)

I have never had an issue restoring non-system apps+data w/ titanium. I've restored from AOSP to Sense and back. Even restored a backup from when I had an Eris over to my dinc no issues.
Just clear all your cache 2-3 times a month and you should be all right. If your still having issues try a few different roms. If your still having issues after that consider reverting to stock to see if the problem persists, if it does call Verizon for a warrenty exchange.
Yeah, I'm really thinking she may have a more serious problem. Her phone never really gets messed with, mine on the other hand has had countless flashovers, titanium backup restores etc. never had an issue. I'd like to think the issue is the data restore but, like I said, the problem happens months later. Plus I only restore a few apps.
Maybe we'll get a incredible 2

[Q] Noob Question - How to diagnose freezes

I'm running Cyanogen 7.1. About two or three weeks ago, I started getting full system freezes which require me removing the battery to get it to restart.
It only happens a couple times a week, but when it does, it comes in bunches, and I often have to pull the battery five or six times before it settles down again.
After restarting the phone, it will get as far as preparing the SD card, and the launcher icons for apps moved to the SD card will fill in in the launcher, and then within 30 seconds or so, the entire phone hangs.
I know you can't tell me what the problem is just from that, but I'd appreciate some advice about any logs or such that I can check.
Thanks
What are your CPU settings clocked at? And are those settings set on boot?

No, I haven't made any changes to the processor speed or the voltage.
Have you tried using another launcher? or clearing the data for your current launcher? back it up before you clear it.
Or try an app like SD Speed Increase? ( https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sdincrease.it )
I know this sounds crazy, but have you tried using a different ROM?
TBH, CM7 scares the crap out of me wit hall the Boot Looped phones that were running it.

+1 only aosp I run is MIUI or decks rarely because I get scared to use.it

I ended up starting from scratch and doing a clean reflash of Cyanogen. I'm assuming it had to do with me forcing all apps to the SD card, so I won't do that this time.
Good call. Not all apps can run from the SD Card. Particularly apps that have attached Widgets and native system apps.

Accidentally Deleted Kindle App?

The other day my phone was acting a bit weird, so I system restored it.
Now, I know some things are affected by uninstalling bloatware, so I'm sure to simply freeze it. The app I use to freeze bloatware seems to have acted kind of weird though, because when I froze the Kindle app, it disappeared, and now doesn't appear anywhere on my Inc2.
Now my phone doesn't seem to want to make calls. The phone app opens, but whenever I attempt to dial a number, it force closes on me. I'm not sure if this is caused by the Kindle app deletion, but it seems to only have begun doing this after it uninstalled.
I also forgot to backup
What can I do? Is the phone app problem caused by the missing bloatware, and if so, how can I get the app back? I appreciate any help on this problem of mine! Thanks in advance!

Massive lag

So I searched and couldn't find anything useful, my phone has a horrible lag! It's crippled my phone to a point where I want to throw that piece of s... out the window! It takes ages to wake up, when I write something it completely freezes and about few sec it's normal again!it's all lag across all apps, tried factory but it doesn't seem to have any effect! Yeah sure I could only run one app but what's the point! My first phone went into bootloop, this is a 604 version! Would root and a custom rom help?

Do you have activated adoptable storage? That means do you use your external SD card as internal storage?
Maybe it is your SD-Card which is corrupt
Nope I didn't do that! But when I restart the phone it feels snappier.. Or maybe it's placebo! Tried the debloater today + I uninstalled quite a lot of apps, I did help a bit
