Screen went black during phone call, audio still present. Then the phone shut off and refuses to turn on, no charging led when connected to power supply. Battery still had 75% charge during call
Have you tried holding the power button down for 10 seconds?

Thanks. This has also happened on my girlfriends device numerous times.
Similar thing happened to me, i was charging my One X while it was off (the battery completely depleted).
The notification LED was on (red) indicating it was charging, the LED turned off after about an hour of charging, i tried to turn it on and nothing, absolutely no reaction.
I've tried holding the power button for 10 seconds, also tried a vast combination of buttons;
Volume up + power.
All three buttons at once.
Any suggestions before i take it to the shop?
UPDATE:
5 minutes after posting this the LED light turned on, i tried to turn the device on and it did, so everything seems to be fine now, i just don't get how after an hour on the charger, when i turned it on just now my HTC One X battery was at 2%
In any case I won't be letting the battery deplete to 0% anymore
@dusan do you have CWM as recovery? It is known that battery-charge is broken, even when the device is off, when cwm is flashed.
Try to get into fastboot after some while, flash the stock recovery as fast as possible and turn the device off again for charging.
That would explain it, I do have CWM, I don't know how but I guess it charged just enough juice for me to turn the device on.
If I flash stock recovery will I be able to recharge the phone with the device off ?
Also would I lose root in that case?

Hi. So after a long wait I got my Zenfone 2 ZE551ML today. The first thing I did was turning it on and it turned on normally, then I proceeded to make the initial setup (logging into google account, etc) without any problems. Then after about 10 minutes of use the phone suddenly turned off with the battery being at around 35% and didn't want to turn on again. I read that old firmware (like the one that comes default with the phone) had battery display errors so I thought the phone had run out of battery, so I charged it for 8 full hours and I unplugged it now. To my surprise the phone is not turning on either. The only way I can make the screen show something is by connecting it to the charger, it vibrates and displays a white battery icon, eventually changing to fully green (fully charged battery, the green led indicator also appears) only to disappear like 3 seconds after. Can't turn the phone on while charged and can't even make the phone show the battery icon again (unless I unplug and plug again, repeating the cycle). So, what can I do to turn it on?
Thanks in advance.

I have a feeling that you did not hold the power button long enough. Disconnect the charger first, and wait for about 10 seconds. Then, hold the power button for at least 6 seconds. The phone should then vibrate and then you may release the power button. Other reasons why your phone may not seem to be turning on at all might be due to the back cover not being fully locked in, thus not making any contact with the power on the motherboard itself.
Do report back the results.

I did. Doesn't work. I also removed the back cover and pressed the power button with nails with no results either. Personally I think there's something to do with the power button as it doesn't even responds while charging (pressing it should display the battery icon) and the only time I could use the phone it didn't work to wake up the phone or setting it to sleep, only double tapping worked. What is strange is that it worked the first time I turned on the phone though.
Are you able to get into FastBoot mode? If so please try performing a hardware reset including wipe cache partition. Please see the following:

I got that several times when connecting my phone to the PC. I removed the back plate and disconnected the battery, after reconnecting phone booted up.

I am facing same problem.my zf2 power button does not work and unfortunately my mobile switched off.now I m not able to switch on again.nothing happen when I press power button. Is there any other way to switch on ?please suggest me if u get solution
Hi every one,
last night, when my phone was fully charged and the green notification was on, I unplugged it, but suddenly I saw that my phone didn't run. Therefore, I pressed and hold the power button, but unfortunately, my phone didn't turn on. I plugged it again to the charger and saw that an orange light was blinking, and the phone was showing an empty charge icon. I pressed the power button again while it was on charge, and it tried to turn on but after few seconds it turned off. I was really nervous and distressful as it was for the first time to me.
I let it to be charged for minutes, and, then, I tried to turn it on again. This time nothing happened. I also tried the volume +/- and power button to reboot it but they didn't work.
Now, when I unplugged and plugged it again, I can't see even that orange light.
Please, help me.
I just received a used Tab S 10.5 from a reputable Ebay supplier. It didn't turn on initially so I plugged in the charger and it showed a solid gray battery icon with a solid white lightning bolt. I assume that means it's fully charged. Still wouldn't turn on with the power button so I tried holding the power and volume buttons together. I'd get a short vibration after 6 or 7 seconds and the battery icon would go off but it wouldn't start. I finally got it to start (not sure what I did differently) but now it has been stuck on the Samsung Tab S opening screen for several minutes. I tried turning it off with the power button but holding it down for about 10 seconds had no effect so I let it go and the logo screen stayed on.
Before I contact the supplier for a refund or exchange I would like to know a few things. Are the Samsung Galaxy Tabs finicky about turning on? Any known issues with power buttons? What's the proper procedure with the power button alone doesn't work? I've seen both power + volume down and power + volume up.
Update 30 min after original post: my assumption about the battery icon was incorrect. I tried turning it on again it worked and the battery showed 3%. I started the setup but just connecting to my network drained the battery down to 0% (even though it's plugged into the charger) so it shut off. At least I know now I'll have to wait a few hours.

Since the issue has been resolved (and was due to inadequate information on my part rather than a problem with the tablet), I am asking the moderator to remove this thread.
I was charging my phone connected to my laptop, the phone was powered off. I unplugged it and it just stuck like it was still plugged in charging. The charging light is on but trying to rest or boot does nothing. Just makes the charging light turn off for a second then back on.
Is it bricked? What should I do?
UPDATE
I let the battery drain out overnight and plugged it into the wall socket this morning. Now the charge light blinks but no charge icon pops up and it still doesn't power on. When trying to boot it into recovery, the icon pops up again. When I unplug it from charging, the charge light still blinks and the icon stays still. I think it is going to have to be a paperweight.
Anyone ever had this happen?

First, let the phone charge on wall socket for several hours. This is sometimes needed if the battery is allowed to drain to shutoff, and there is unsufficient battery voltage to boot/power-on the phone.
There is no button combo to directly access recovery on this phone, so I think you mean you tried to boot to bootloader (power+vol down). In some conditions like this (battery drained, stuck on boot screen, etc.), you will need to hold button combos for a minute or more before it will reboot. So try to just hold the buttons longer. Also try to do this (hold for a minute+) for power+vol up (this button combo forces a reboot in most situations) or simply just the power button ("regular" power-on).
Power + vol up would have been the best way to force a reboot (works in virtually every condition short of a true brick), rather then let the battery drain to shut-off. Letting the battery drain to shutoff is never a great idea, if it can be avoided, for the reason already mentioned.

Oh man! I was freaking for a while. I tried like everything except holding the buttons down so long. That reset it. It booted. When it booted up I tried to update the with the OTA in settings and it locked again on bootscreen. I did the hard reset again. It didn't update. I want to update it to Android 6.0, but it keeps running into problems some error "unexpected contents on partition - installation aborted." Something like that.
Thinking of trying to flash the OTA or RUU. Do you think that is a good idea?

I did the same a while back. Found my M8 had powered off overnight. Tried the button combos, which didn't seem to work, and thought it was spontaneously bricked. Finally just tried holding power (or maybe power+vol up, don't remember exactly) for a long time, and it finally booted, leading to much relief.

Flash the OTA how?
RUU should be fine, if you version has an RUU.
So I had kept my oneplus3 on charge at around 10:00 Pm yesterday and fell asleep. Woke up around 12:00pm to see it was fully charged so I unplugged the charger kept the phone beside me and went to sleep. Today when I woke up I saw that the phone has a black screen and is completely dead. The LED light is not on. Plugged into the charger no response. Tried holding power button ..nothing. No vibrations or home button lights
Currently, there is nothing going on with the phone. No flashes on screen no LED. Absolutely nothing. Tried connecting to laptop (windows 10) dont see anything. It was working perfectly fine last night and i had used it for nothing but music then.
Question is.. is the phone hard bricked or completley bricked? what might be the reason? I searched youtube only to find 1 person with similar problem who had said that he kept the phone for 48 hours and when it was completely discharged he pluged in charger again and it started working.
I am confused. Have a lot of work documents inside and what if it stays the same after 48 hours?
Appreciate any help on the matter
update: Tried plugging in the charger a few min ago. The led turns red and Vibrates. Nothing else
Update 2: so after 24 hours of setting the phone aside. i plugged the charger and it went into charging. But now am facing a new problem. My bootloader is unlocked and the power button is busted hence whenever I press volume down and plug-in the charger it takes me to bootloader warning screen from where either it goes into charge or i press volume key and it goes into option which I again cant select cause power button is busted. Tried holding down the power button and connect to laptop(windows 10) no device detected and it works like normal charging. Tried to charge for a few minutes unpluged charger and start again .. it was stuck on oneplus screen. Any ideas??
