I guess I was at the wrong thread before for the "type" of galaxy s2 so I got lucky I asked questions before I started messing with the phone.
So I just installed the newest update yesterday so I hope it doesnt hinder my ability to root this phone.
I also have a question..does google wallet work with this phone? It has NFC but idk if its compatible with this phone?
And is S-Voice working with this device cause it seems like a great feature when I read about the GSIII
Anything specific I need to know about this phone....im coming from the mytouch 4g slide and this phone is leaps and bounds better than it....im not a noob when it comes to flashing and pretty familiar with ADB but not familiar with ODIN. Other phones I've owned and rooted: sensation 4G, G2, Galaxy S 4G, mytouch 4G and thats all I can remember now.
Sorry for the noobish questions....but I'll thank who ever helps in advance....I really appreciate it

Google Wallet currently does not work on the GSll. As for S-Voice, I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667046.
To root your phone I will put this as simply as possible:
1) Get USB drivers for our phone (T989) (You can get these from installing Kies)
2) Get a recovery. (Either CWM Hard or Touch)
3) Put phone in download mode (Phone off. Hold both volume buttons. Insert USB that is in computer.)
4) Run ODIN as administrator.
5) You should see a yellow bar filled on Odin below the first square on the far left of the program signifying your device is connected.
6)Under PDA find your custom recovery and click open.
7) Press start.
8) Enjoy custom recovery
---- Now flash super user the same way or just download a rom with s.u access (any rom will have this).
Hope I helped.
This is the EASIEST phone to root.
EDIT:
No updating to UVDLE doesn't hinder your ability to root. But if you put on a custom ROM there was no point in updating anyways.
Google wallet will be functional once official ICS drops.

Not to be intrusive and i know this is not my threat, but on step 2 which i see everywhere, what is the different between CWM hard and Touch? that is the only thing confusing me.
And on step 9...., you say use any rom, you mean like aokp or darksider, which they will come with superuser, once flashed, there is my phone and a better software? that seems to be too easy. I noticed some roms do not come with kernels, should i stay away from them? and use only those that have their own kernels?
thanks in advance, sorry to hijack.

CWM hard is the normal one where you control it with your buttons. CWM touch is controlled by touching the screen.

[Q] Flash ATT i317 "unknown baseband" "no sim"& add other language to a android 4.0
Hi guys, I just get an att i317 galaxy note 2 yesterday, and i am still trying to flash an i717 (N7100) rom on it. I did get a custom N7105 rom on it,
but i am not very satisfied the limitation of the model number (i 317) of my note 2. Any help?
The main reason i wanna flash my phone is because i need more languages options rather than English and Spanish, there is a way to do it, but after reading for 3 hours, i decide to give up. I cannot find a simple complete tutorial to add more languages to android 4.0. If somebody can provide a complete solution for that( readable, understandable ), i could paypal you.
Another reason i am still looking for the solution to flash the phone, is because i just did flash it with a customized rom, the writer said the rom will not changing the baseband. I believe that is the reason it worked. I did try to flash the phone with "revolution hd" and other popular n7100 roms [web //droidviews.com/2012/best-custom-roms-for-samsung-galaxy-note-2-gt-n7100] the only thing is not working is the baseband, i will always get an unknown baseband, and "no sim". I did flash the att radio back to the phone through recovery, it just not working. .
Anyway, i will later upload the att stock rom 4.1.1 with its radio file to you guys, maybe it will help you to get started.

That is a good AT&T TAR from what I can tell.
It has the 5 parts and PIT but it's I317UCALI6_143071_REV04 which I guess in a pinch would work.
I'm have build: I317UCALJ2.
Has anyone extracted LJ2 or have the TAR link?

Or you flashed the whole thing and then you flashed the modem?

What i did is flashing a custom rom for i317, it was based on the n7105 stock rom, however the developer has made certain change that the custom rom will not change the baseband.
The only reason i did flash this rom is to add chinese language option in my phone, and the multi window function.

I have my i317 rocking an N7105 ROM.
Are you sure this is for the AT&T version? When I open the RAR file it contains files in the MDL folder that are named GI317M_DEFAULT_MDL_V3.06.b and GI317M_DEFAULT_MDL_V3.06.b.zip. The GI317M implies this is for the Canadian GN2 and not for AT&T.

Hello everybody
First I want to apologize for the possible mistakes i'm french and my english is not perfect.
I have made a huge mistake. I've take a ROM made for the Gnote 1 and flashed it on my GNOTE 2, I even flashed the kernel and the modem.
I've tried to solve the problem with KIES by restore the microsoftware but i have a permanent bootloop.
I hope that my phone is not dead.
If anyone have a solution it will be great.
Thanks by advance.
Are you able to access recovery and use odin?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Yes I can use Odin an Download Mode. But my fear is after the update via Kies i think that debug mode is not enable.
You don't need USB debugging to be enabled while flashing in download mode. Just get the official ROM tar for your specific version of cell and flash it through Odin. Get a complete ROM from reliable source which should also include modem.

Finally i send it to samsung because flash with odin give me the same issues bootloop
Hi everyone.
Samsung call me back to give me some news of my phone. They ask me 200$ to repair it, because they told me that the motherboard was damaged. Is there any solution ? They don't take the warranty because of the root. Is there a way to put the flash counter to zero with the recovery ? I mean flash a file by the recovery.
Thanks
I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace 2x GT-S7560M with CWM 5.0.0.4 (I believe) installed on it. My phone was crammed with apps and some system applications weren't working (messaging and dialer to be exact), probably because I removed some system apps without referring to the list of safe apps to remove.
I decided it would be best to just start over. I formatted the phone through cwm and tried to flash the original stock rom.
It displayed error in /sdcard/"name of rom".zip (status 0). Installation aborted.
Some extra information about the problem:
- It can't mount /emmc (I don't know what that is)
- It seems to be unable to mount the internal sd card because I tried flashing a zip from there, but it showed some sort of error.
I forgot to mention that I also checked for bad downloads, and have already tried formatting the sd card itself.

Bump.
Please......bump.
I think emmc is the internal sdcard, so it makes sense that u can't flash zips from there, but it doesnt seem right.
Are u able to go back to stock using Odin? and if so, will youur sdcards (both internal and external) work on that?
I'm sorry, but as my name suggests, I am a total noob. Is Odin, in a way, a recovery mode that can be launched from your computer? Will I be able to flash the stock rom though Odin? I never knew what Odin is, but I've heard little about it, sorry.
Sent from my GT-S7560M using xda app-developers app
Yes, odin is a flashtool for samsung devices.
You can enter into download mode on your phone by pressing volume down+home+power (while vol up+home+power should be recovery)
Once in there, u connect it to the pc via usb, and then u can flash it via odin.
Get odin from this thread --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189539
And samsung usb driver from this thread --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2038555
Once the usb drivers are installed, odin (when opened and phone is plugged in in download mode) will recognize your phone, indicated by a colored bar beneath the top left square (cyan if using 3.09 or 3.07)
then download your stock firmware from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ (search for "GT-S7560M") any unbraded will do.
once downloaded, open the AP or PDA button in odin (depends on what version you are using) and load the tar.md5 of the firmware u just downloaded into it.
to the left leave all unchecked except for auto-reboot and f. reset. time and then hit flash.
It will install stock firmware on your phone then
To be entirely sure u get it all right, use this guide too --> http://forums.androidcentral.com/sp...08-guide-how-flash-tar-files-odin-3-07-a.html.
Goodluck!
Thank you! I have one more question, after flashing the stock rom, will I be able to flash normally using recovery?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 for T-Mobile. I accidentally tried to root using a method that was for an older version of android and now I am getting the "Kernel is not Seandroid Enforcing." I think I just need to flash the stock kernel for 4.4.2 and hopefully that will fix it, but I can't seem to find a link to download the stock kernel. I have been scouring the forums for quite some time now. Can anyone post a link to it or can anyone tell me what I need to do to fix this? HELP ME!!!!!!!!!! LOL Thanks in advance for any help. Yeah......It's not booting. It hangs at the Samsung boot screen and has 2 lines of text in the upper right corner. One says "Kernel is not seandroid Enforcing." the second line says something about warranty. I would tell you specifically what the second line says, but I can't read it. The text is too small. If I flash the stock 4.4. from sammobile, will it fix everything? Sorry, kind of a noob question, but I am just not sure where to start. I was thinking of just flashing the kernel as i really don't want to lose any pics and stuff that I have on the phone and I think that will happen if I flash a new ROM, won't it? Sorry for such noob questions. Thought I had a grasp, but 1 little mistake and now I'm hurtin........don't want to make it worse. Thanks again for the help.
I'd Odin flash the stock 4.4 image.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I will give that a shot.
Yeah it will fix it, and you don't lose any pics if you flash a ROM, only data if you do a full wipe.. Now it is recommended to do a full wipe, but for the sake of this situation if you dirty flash a stock ROM, it should boot and have all your contacts, apps, and stuff like that.. if you really need them you can back them up and then wipe, or factory reset, or whatever it is you have planned.. Just make sure you flash a 4.4.2 stock ROM if you do
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
OK. That worked. Phone is booting and working properly now. Thanks for the help. I am, however, still seeing the "Kernel is not seandroid enforcing" and the 2nd line of text as well. I see this during boot. I understand this shouldn't be an issue, but is there a way to get rid of that message?
What exactly did you do to fix it? If you flashed a ROM then it probably has a custom kernel and that's why it shows the message.. You can flash the stock kernel, or do a restore in Odin to get rid of it, but I wouldn't bother unless you return it for warranty
