If you're with Rogers and have a stock version of ICS running.. - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I started a thread below about having to re-flash the stock radio bands and version of ICS that came on my Rogers Nexus because I'm returning it, but now I have a question for Rogers GNex owners that have the stock version of ICS that shipped still on their phone: Can you please start your phone into fastboot (I think this is what it's called? When you hold down the volume buttons + power button) and post all of the information you see on the bottom left corner? Like: product name, variant, hw version, bootloader version, baseband version etc? I just want to confirm whether or not I got everything back to stock.
Thanks and greatly appreciated!!

All CDN phones came with a yakjuux build. I took a nandroid backup of the 4.0.2 ITL41F mine came with:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410310
Your phone may have first come with 4.0.1 but you can return it with yakjuux 4.0.2 and it'll be just like a stock unit that received the OTA.
The zip containing the yakjuux OTA to 4.0.2 contains a bootloader img file for PRIMEKK15, so that is also one you can use that will look like stock. The OTA to 4.0.4 contained no bootloader at all, so units went 4.0.2->4.0.4 or 4.0.1->4.0.2->4.0.4 will have PRIMEKK15 and units that went 4.0.1->4.0.4 will have PRIMEKK14.
The radio that came with yakjuux 4.0.1 is UGKL1; 4.0.2 was UGLA4; 4.0.4 is UGLC1.
Any customer with an unmodified stock CDN GNex should have the same software so they can help you regardless of whether they are on Rogers or not.

[Q] GSM GNex hasn't upgraded to 4.0.2?

First, 4.0.2 is the latest version for the GSM GNex, right?
I thought it was... anyway. I got my phone yesterday and unloced the bootloader and rooted, but didn't install CWM or do anything else that actually required root. The phone did apply an OTA update, but I don't remember if it was before or after I rooted.
Anyway, it is now saying 4.0.1 and 'check for updates doesn't find anything'.
...so, that's wrong, isn't it? Any idea why? I thought rooting didn't mess with OTA (unless you start messing with things too much, of course).
Thanks in advance!
Oh, and it is yakju.
No only updated builds of 4.0.1 have been pushed to the GSM version.
4.0.2 was for the Verizon version.
Ah ha!
Thanks guys!
Just thought I'd mention that I am on a GSM GN and got asked to update to 4.0.2. today. There is a thread in general about it. I took screenshot too. But the update didn't apply right. I downloaded it and hit install and restart but nothing happened. hmmm...
Maybe I was offered it by mistake...
The thread is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1395047
Given that JBQ posted factory images of 4.0.2 for the Maguro/Tuna build I think it's safe to say it's going to OTA. Multiple GSM owners have received the update notification.
Updates roll out SLOWLY and are flagged by IMEI. If your IMEI isn't flagged to get the update yet there is no number of checkins that will prompt you to download it. Normally updates have rolled out over a few weeks. This process was explained by someone at Google a while back. The OTA goes to a small group during which time they can ensure that it isn't causing issues. If that goes well it's expanded to a larger group and then subsequently all devices as it scales up.
GSM version has 4.0.2 update, but not pushed over.
i have manually downloaded the stock image from google and manualy flash it.
i am now running 4.0.2
http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html
what i did was,
backup my system (just incase).
Factory Images "yakju" for Galaxy Nexus "maguro" (GSM/HSPA+)
(all file extract from the 4.0.2 (ICL53F) image)
flash bootloader
flash radio
flash recovery
flash system
and reboot, and presto. you are on 4.0.2.
my experience, this does not remove all your data.
just similar to a upgrade for me.
a side note. i am running everything stock..

Any Canadians that flashed generic fw's?

Wondering if there are any differences in the build/modem the gnex sold here has vs the european gsm one? anybody who has flashed care to chime in, tempted to flash the generic.
i'd like to hear about this as well, i'm still stuck on 4.0.1 while the yakju folks are enjoying 4.0.3
btw have u received any upgrades beyond 4.0.1 ?

I flashed yakju build ITL41D, however have not been asked to update yet and I keep checking. I haven't noticed any differences yet.
I just flashed the yakju build (i.e., the ICL53F system and userdata partitions from here, but kept the bootloader that came with my device (bought from Virgin Mobile), and updated radio that came with the ITL41F OTA update. No issues.

Request: yakjuux faxtory image / nandroid backup for Bell / Verizon Gnexus

Hello, can you please post factory image, or nandroid backup of yakjuux variant? This is the one that is used for Bell Mobility Gnexus , or Virgin Mobile Galaxy Nexus.
Many thanks!
I would like this as well....
I would rather the image from Samsung/Google than a nandroid backup, just as a safety backup.
Anyway, if anyone has the YAKJUUX image or knows where to find it, please let us know.
Thanks
I had posted it in this thread, but the server is down. I'm willing to upload it again, if someone lets me know of a good free upload service.

Anyone have a copy of ITL41D? Or a stock ICL53F yakjuux build? I'm on Virgin and my phone came with ITL41D and I'd ideally like to return to that since I need to swap my phone on a warranty claim. Also does anyone know which radio and which bootloader came with the ICL53F update from Bell/Virgin? I was still stuck on 4.0.1 (seems like everyone but me got the update) before I flashed to yakju. I flashed UGLA4 and the primekk15 boatloader. So if I found a ICL53F build I could claim I got it OTA if I had the matching radio and bootloader...

If you bought it from Virgin (as did I), it came with ITL41D (which is 4.0.1), but was shortly afterwards updated to ITL41F (which is also 4.0.1). So use the file I posted above.
Here is the list of the radios and bootloaders that came with the various yakjuux builds/OTA updates:
ITL41D: PRIMEKK14 and UGKK7
ITL41F: PRIMEKK14 and UGKL1
ICL53F: PRIMEKK15 and UGLA4

You probably want to edit the subject so it says Virgin not Verizon!

Awesome, thanks. Mine came with ITL41D but I did not get any update. I only had it for two days before going to Yakju, but no updates (this was just last week). I tested out the UTL41F image and it worked great, so I guess I will flash that and the UGKK7 radio and hope for the best that they don't notice the PRIMEKK15 bootloader. I doubt they will, as the Virgin people told me that The Source (Radio Shack Canada, kinda) will just swap out my phone on the spot. I'm having weird signal problems. I think the radio is turning on and off by itself. I get no signal about 30-40% of the time, and I'm getting incredibly awesome battery life leading me to believe the radio's actually off when it's getting no signal. Anyways, thanks again!

You likely don't even need to go back to yakjuux, but if you really want to, your backup, the radio, and the bootloader (grab one of the yakjuux bootloaders in the bootloader thread) is all you need.

Ok perfect, thanks for the help! Yeah I probably don't need to but I've just had a couple of friends who say Bell has tried to get out of the warranty replacement by coming up with excuses so i just don't want them to have any reason not to do it. Better safe than sorry right?

[Q] Updates on the GNex

Hey guys, great forum! Grateful for all the support we have here. I have a question that I hop can be answered it has to do with updates for the GNex.
So basically, I bought the Nexus with Rogers in Canada and its a great device. I went to go and check the version and it was still on 4.0.1. I rooted it and then unrooted for personal reasons, the unroot brought me to 4.0.2 because thats the file that the unrooting program had, the phone is completely stock, bootloader locked.
After this, I heard about Yakju and Yakjuux and that Yakju gets updates from Google while Yakjuux gets them from Samsung. So I proceeded to check which one mine was, I used an app called GN Official Update and it told me I am Yakju.
So why am I not getting any updates past 4.0.2? Is it because the unroot process brought me to 4.0.2? Is it because those updates have been pulled for now? I dont think me being with rogers would have an effect but if it does please tell me!
If it helps: Baseband is I9250
Kernel is stock 3.0.0-gaaa2611
[email protected]#1 and the
build is ICL53F
Thanks for any help guys!
4.0.2 is the current official update out now.

You aren't receiving any more OTA updates because there haven't been any
Oh ok, so one more question, then how come when I was on 4.0.1 I never got an update? is that because when i rooted/unlocked bootloader and unrooted thus bringing me to 4.0.2 it somehow brought me to Jakju? I dont get it!
If you're relying on OTAs, 4.0.2 is the latest available.

How long did you have the phone before you rooted it to 4.0.2? Also, it's very possible when you flashed 4.0.2 you switched to yakju I believe. Either way, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Normally when there is a new OTA update, you can find it posted here before it rolls out to your phone.

Just to clear something up, I rooted while on 4.0.1. I unrooted and the file that was there for unrooting was 4.0.2 (wugfresh's tookit). So It WAS possible that when that file was flashed to go back to stock, It changed the updates from Yakjuux(Samsung) to Jakju(GOOGLE) ?

A few points:
1) No one knows for sure who updates any of the non-yakju builds, whether yakjuux, or whatever else. And if anyone (including that app you were referring to that you used, which is not "official" by the way) tells you otherwise they are just speculating. All we know is that OTA updates for ALL builds come from Google's servers.
2) Rooting has NO impact whatsoever on you receiving or not receiving the OTA update.
3) The reason you went from 4.0.1 to 4.0.2 is because you were running yakjuux 4.0.1 (which ONLY RECENTLY received the OTA update to 4.0.2, and not all yakjuux devices have been updated yet), and when you "unrooted", you didn't really "unroot" your yakjuux 4.0.1 build. That toolkit just flashed the yakju version of 4.0.2 over your yakjuux 4.0.1 build.
4) It is yakju, not jukju
5) This thread should have been posted in the Q&A subforum, not General.
6) The latest official build for yakju is ICL53F (4.0.2). 4.0.3 is available via AOSP.

Taken straight from Google's website "
Galaxy Nexus is supported only in GSM/HSPA+ configuration "maguro" and only if it was originally sold with a "yakju" operating system."

Don't confuse OTA updates with AOSP support.

When is JB coming to UAE

Simply put id like to know if anyone in the UAE has gotten JB for their Galaxy Nexus. I woke up today with an update alert, and after applying it, it turned out to be 4.0.4 and not JB. Any hints on how to get it sooner?
If you're takju or yakju you should have it by now.
The reason why you don't have it doesn't necessarily depend on your location, it depends on what version of the firmware your phone has. I'm assuming if you bought that locally it's a non-yakju/takju variant. If you don't mind wiping your phone once to switch over, you can go to takju and receive OTAs quickly directly from Google from here on out. You'll remain "stock", you'll just be switching from one firmware version to the other.
Follow this guide to do so if you're interested: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895
Thnx a lot
I'm also based here in Dubai and I bought my Galaxy Nexus from souq.com. It came with ICS 4.0.2 yakjujp (middle east) firmware variant so I manually flashed it with the ICS 4.0.4 "yakju" firmware to get updates directly from Google. I got the JB notification last week and upgraded over WIFI without problems. Here's the link to the guide in case you're interested -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895
