I know hat there is already a thread about this, and i posted there something that i tought it resolved the issue, but in fact it did not.
When i'm playing music outside of the google play music and press pause, either trough the status bar or the widget, sometimes the status bar controls stay there, which is what i want since sometimes you just want to pause the music for a couple of seconds, but most of the time they just vanish and i have to go to the music player to contiue the song.
This happened on CM9 and now i'm back to stock 4.0.4 and the issue still persists.
Does anybody know a fix for this?
I haven't had the controls vanish while using the phone but it gets closed pretty quickly by the system when your phone is in standby. I think it's because the player is holding a wake lock which would drain your battery if you'd forget the player is still on pause.
I use the widget as a workaround to quickly start the music again since it remembers the last song and position.
Yes! They go away once you enter the play music app. I know its a drag, but I get used to it now

Thanks for the responses, i know that when you are on the music app it goes away and that i could hold wake lock and drain the batery, but that is useful when you going to see a video for example or respond to e-mail and want to concentrate, them you could pause the music, do whatever you gotta do and then play the music without ever leaving to the home screen.
Does anyone knows how to resolve this? bump...

Same applies with the lock screen controls - when you pause, quite often the controls will mysteriously vanish and leave you having to wade back into the music app (which is quite a pain). Wonder if it's a memory management issue - i.e. if the music app is no longer playing, we can recycle it
Oh, as for your comment - if you can't post anything helpful, best to leave this to the big boys

Hey man first thanks for your comment, this guy just seems to be troling a lot of post lately.
And yes sometimes it vanishes from the lock screen, the thing that is really bothering me is the fact that there is no consistency, so i can never be sure if the controls will be there or not
use the cm9 player it has a option to keep notification on pause.
Hey tks for the reply, i am on stock 4.0.4 for a few weaks, i was running cm9 but it seems that they will never put a beta so a went back to stock, how can i get their player? also does it sync with google music?
Get from the cm9 site. I'm also using dsp manager.

I've encountered a strange problem lately. Within the last few days, my music apps seems to start playing on their own. This does not seem to be related to putting in or removing headphones, as I have not used any headphones for quite some time. Rather, it seems to happen after I perform certain functions on the phone.
For example, it happens whenever I use Astro to move or delete a file. Immediately after performing the cut or copy, the music starts. It has also happened after I disable bluetooth and/or turn of the screen.
What's strange is that it is not always the same music player which opens. Sometimes its HTCMusic and sometimes its DoubleTwist. As an experiment, I tried freezing HTCMusic with TitaniumBackup and then installing the AOSP music app from CM6. Same result.
I'm using Calukin's ROM, but have been for several weeks without issue so I don't believe that is the cause.
Any ideas as to what might be going on here?
Bump. Really need help figuring this out. Late last night, my Evo was tucked away for bed in its charger. All of the sudden, the music started blaring again. Nobody touched it. In fact, my family was all asleep when it happened and it woke up my kids. Thinking I'm just going to have to start over with a new ROM if there's no answer.
What's odd is that whenever the music starts, I will open the music app to kill it and the app doesn't know it is playing right away. In other words, the play button is displayed, rather than the pause button. To kill the music, I have to hit play, then pause.
I assume you're not running any tasker profile or other program related to running sound based on a condition?
Have you explored the possibility you have a music-loving ghost living in your home?
There is a bug where sometimes a random song off your memory card gets used for a notification sound, you may want to check those out. Last time I did an OTA update it changed my facebook notification to baby got back and the only way I could get it to stop playing was to mute or reset my phone lol
Before anyone rages me, I searched every thread on HTC Vision / G2. I looked at the similar posts:

None have anything to do with my issue. My own thread (I started in May of 2011) doesn't work this time around.
My issue: Music will pause when I receive a notification. I get a lot of emails / texts / whatever, and it's annoying as hell. When I'm listening to my music, it'll just pause it and play the sound. I've scoured all options. It happens using Winamp, Music and the newer streaming Music player. I've cleared the cache in DSP Manager, I've looked in CM Settings, nada.
Now, I'll say: This does not happen in CM Nightlies below 210. I flashed the latest: CM7 Build #227. I'm not overclocked, I'm not running task killers or memory managers. I wiped cache before updating... I can wipe everything, but I'd rather leave that for last.
I'd like to keep as up to date as possible with builds... But this is just driving me up the wall. Anyone have this issue?

Do you have a notification sound on?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
Yes. The notification sound cuts the music off.
Then turn it off lol. I'm pretty sure it is supposed to be that way. I would be pissed if it didn't pause my music lol, but I only get a handful of texts
So wait, you're telling me the way to fix this is to turn my notification sounds off? I'm not trying to sound like a **** here, but that defeats the purpose. I need to hear my notifications and also don't want my music cutting off when I get them.
I'm a Sys Admin, so I get a lot of emails and texts. If I'm on the train trying to zone out from work and it takes me 10m to listen to a 5m song, I lose my ****. Also, I can't afford not to hear them... if some box goes down, I'm responsible for getting it back online / notifying the business.
Any other suggestions?
that's fine but the reason you didn't find anything is probably because you can't do it easily. the very idea of that is to notify you if you don't hear it then you don't know it unless you check, but then again if your gonna regularly look for notifications why not just manually check. Just saying not being a **** or anything, btw you mean like when the phone is in silent mode?
---------- Post added at 12:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:44 PM ----------
just sounds like it would take some work to pull off, have you tried google? maybe an app developer got annoyed about this enough to make an app, i dunno wish i could help more
I don't want to keep looking at my phone and pulling it out of my pocket every 20 seconds to see if there's a notification. My phone is on loud. Not silent mode. I can hear the notifications, it just completely cuts off my music to play the sound. I work in The Bay Area, and the train I take home is crowded as hell. So, I'd rather not be reaching in my pocket to see what the deal is if there is nothing on the phone.
The thing is: It's always worked before these new builds. Stock 2.2 for the phone worked, CM 7.1.0 Final worked, and every build after that worked up until 210. I just want it to work like it used to.
I'll get on Cyanogen's Bug Tracker and post something on this. In the meantime, I guess I'll have to find an old build and flash back.

Have you tried to going to "Music Settings" and check the box saying "Focus loss ducking"? Its very simple so maybe you have but how do I know, right?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
That option doesn't exist in the Music player that syncs with Google Music, however; it's in Music.apk (The normal stock one). I'll try that out. That's the option I was trying to remember where it was. I'll try now. Ty
EDiT: Nope from stock Music App.
Trying from the other one.
EDiT: Nope.
Couldn't find it or didn't work? What rom are you running? And when you say pause do you mean it just completely stops and you have to press play to restart music? Or do you mean it pauses temporarily and then continues to play after the notification? I know quite a few questions. Lol
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Didn't work. Running CM7 Build #227. It worked on ROMS > 210. And I mean it pauses to play the notification then resumes music.
Maybe totally off, but you could try MIUI, it has this option. Maybe you will like it more than CM
Loving my Nexus so far, but I am experiencing a few frustrating issues and I wanted to see if others are having the same problems.
The first is that the Google voice widget doesn't work right. It will load my conversations, but at some random point the widget will go blank. Deleting and replacing the widget seems to work for a short time before it happens again.
Second issue is the Google Music lock screen controls are dead for me. Fast forward and rewind do nothing, I have to unlock the screen and use the app itself. This seems to be the case whether the app is open full screen or not.
One other Google music issue is that, when I start streaming an album, it almost always stops at the end of the first song, not locked up but just sitting there doing nothing until I skip to the next song and from then on it works fine.
The low res thumbnails in the contacts app really bug me too, but at least that seems to be a documented issue (that apparently won't ever be fixed).
Again, I love this phone but Google gives way too much fodder to the haters with stupid sloppy little issues like this.

Having the same issue with the Google Voice Widget.
Glad to hear I'm not alone, meaning somebody is likely working on a fix... I hope.
Hi Guys, I have a G3 (D85510L) 4.4.2 unrooted and running Next launcher. The problem I have is when I play music with
the screen off, when I unlock the phone the music STOPS coming out of the speakers or headphones, bluetooth or
wired but the player is still running, so I then have to unlock the screen and then press the volume up or down just
once to get the sound back again if you go into the sound setting on the phone the media bar is at whatever it was at
before I unlocked it. Even if I stop the player and then start it again still NO sound :crying: .
Things I have tried,
Reset the phone 3 times but each time I do it works fine for about 3 days and then
the problem starts again :crying:.
Gone through all my apps but can't see anything that would cause it, apart from Google now and Commandr for Google
now, I have been in the settings and uninstalled them and tried again but just the same.
Also the Voice Mate app I tried the settings (I can't disable it) but again it was no good :crying:.
Tried some audio manager apps, no good :crying:.
I have used the stock player and PowerAmp Player but again no good :crying:.
Changed the lock screen from swipe, Knock, password and pin but still no good, BUT it will work fine if there
is NO lock screen set :crying:.
I have no idea so any help will be very welcomed :fingers-crossed:.

I'm having trouble understanding your problem. Does the music pause when you open your phone or does it just mute? And calm down with the emojis bro lol
Hi many thanks for your reply, well to be honest with you I don't know if its muting as I would not know how to do that. What happens is the music just stops coming out no sound but the player keeps going and even if I stop the player and start it again still no sound and the only way to get the sound back is to press the volume up or down.
But I was going to update this morning as I have found out what the problem is, it my flash light app (tinyflashlight by Nikolay Ananiev) from the play store I have had it for years.
As I said I have only had my G3 for about 4 weeks but this time when I was setting it up I turned on the voice activation on the torch app for the first time, so when I turn on the lock screen and you say "torch" it turns the torch on, and that was what the issue was.
So posted the reply just in case anybody else has the same problem.
ps. sorry about the smilies I was on a downer, but now I'm not life's great

Ye you never want to be the guy who uses too many smilies. It just looks weird after a certain point. And for future reference anything that affects the lock screen will most likely affect your music players performance on the lock screen. So if you run into any more similar problems check if you got any apps that affect the lockscreen recently.
i got the update this morning and its horrible!! Its littery and buggy. The animations are cool and the new icons are neat but, youtube music crashes frequently and the audio drops every once in a while also just randomly pauses the music entirely. Im using the same playlist ive used for years and across 3 phones. The music player in particular is where ive spent the most time since the update, hence why im picking on it. FB is sluggish now too. Battery seems to be operating as normal, but the entire GUI is not only different looking but also is just glitchy as all hell. Lets hope they patch this bugger up
Edit: for those who use facebook messenger chat bubbles, like i do, youll see a rather artistic change in the animation of the chat bubbles too. Its really weird. It makes the bubble collapse as it rises and then goes around the screen to wherever you put the bubble resting place. They dial pad for when you reboot looks very iphone-ish as well. So does the volume indicator on the media player controls. Very weird update.
