[Q] Home replacement and app drawer with folders - Galaxy Ace S5830 Themes and Apps

I'm, trying to find the best home replacement for my Ace. I love Go Launcher but it uses too much ram.
I need a launcher with folder in app drawer. The ones i know are:
- GoLauncher (heavy)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gau.go.launcherex
- QQLauncher (some bug for me)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tencent.qqlauncher
- Nemus Launcher (not so eye candy)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nemustech.launcher
Can you suggest me some other free launcher with this function?
I realized i can change all the roms of the world but ram problem still exists if i use golauncher...

Zeam Launcher: For extremely light weight effects but can be less smooth. Very little RAM.
ADW Ex (not the free version) : For good customization and good speed.
Launcher Pro: For moderate customization (not as much as ADW Ex) and good speed. Lower RAM than ADW Ex.
All of the above use less RAM than Go Launcher Ex
360 Launcher: For extreme modifications, effects, lockscreens, etc and good speed But can use a some RAM like Go Launcher Ex.
Personal favourite ADW Ex and 360

My first choice is GO launcher but since it will make ur phone kinda sluggish id suggest the paid version of ADW Launcher

Ok but i need a launcher with customizable folder in app drawer, ADW has categories but not user friendly, LauncherPro and Zeam haven't that function.
I need it because of about 90 apps installed and i need folder to manage all

Why folder in app drawer? Use a widget instead..helps in quick access as well.

I just switched from ADW EX to Go launcher. ADW FC's WAY too much and for no reason. Even just hitting settings and back to home screen FC's the launcher. I love it and all and its the perfect launcher but that's the only draw back and its annoying as hell.
SPB shell is pretty good too. But it takes too long to load when it FC's which is rarely.

Lighting launcher
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.pierrox.lightning_launcher (sorry, I can't post links)
It's free and only 55kb. Yep, 55kb. At first I couldn't believe it.
I've tried almost every launcher out there and this is the fastest, is much more customizable than GO Launcher and doesn't suck like Zeam Launcher.

It is horrible for me...
Anyway, my post was about launchers with folder manager in app drawer... We are a little off topic...

Well go launcher is fastest but eats to much ram (15-20)
360 launcher is bit slower than go launcher but eats less ram (always 3-4mg ram)

Folders in app drawer, you only going to find that in go launcher and in 360 launcher no other launcher have that feature. 360 launcher its faster than the go, just try it...

Hey !
You should try this Launcher !
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1345601
The Launcher isn't that old and optimized like other Launchers
but it's quite smooth and there're a lot of themes for this Launcher availiable ,too

I tried market version but I have more memory usage than go launcher ... about 20mb or more on my ace ...

Just wanted to post this , It is on the market too. Very nice launcher with sideways scrollable dock and pinch to select different homescreens.
and of course very speedy.
the xda thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=664149
I´ve been using this for awhile now and i think it much smoother and faster than LP. I really recommend this homescreen!
I just downloaded Zeam and I'm test driving it now. That and skyfire browser. Both look quite promising so far.thanks for the recommendation.
Just downloaded this and it is now my default launcher, thanks very much
I really should change my signature as I dumped the Blackberry for Android
I just found this other day, Man I've been missing out on some speed!
I've been a fan of LauncherPro for a while and brought it even though I never use any of the widgets that come with it. Sure LauncherPro is AWSOME but Zeam blows it out of the water purely based on speed. I sometimes run out of memory and LauncherPro reloads itself or has a fit (hey the developer even knows this so he's doing a complete rewrite of LauncherPro NOW) but with Zeam I have yet seen it reload itself due to lack of memory, and even if it did reload itself its hell fast!
Zeam full screen mode with LCD Density Changer set to 180 and a decent Clock wdiget makes my sgs look all so pwetty and no fear of ram issues as Zeam only uses 10megs while the Best launcher which is LauncherPro uses about 22-30megs. Sure Zeam don't have ALL the features and widgets that LauncherPro has but damn, with the extra speed and ram you can find 3rd party widgets
I give this launcher two thumbs and toes up

make zeam the default - sort of
Hi,
I also love Zeam, but would like to make it my default launcher. When I reboot my Galaxy it still comes up with twlauncher as the default interface.
Can anyone tell me how to make zeam launch rather than twlauncher?
@ninereeds did you check the box that says "use by default for this action"? if so then it will go into Zeam each time.
i think you can only do this once otherwise it goes to tw launcher. if you missed out then the simplest way would be to uninstall zeam, then reinstall, press the home button and it will ask you again what do you want to open.
hope this helps
Does this launcher have a selection for Swype up-applications ?
Im using ADW and in swype up i have enter an application which is very usefull for me...(its a screen off application and with a swype up with my finger on the screen the phone closes)

You need to download Home Switcher from the market, you can then setup Zeam as your default launcher from there, when you reboot Zeam will be the launcher plus Home switcher is Free
Definitely my new launcher! Great post! Love the bar at the bottom!

home switcher doesn't work with froyo though, incase you are using froyo.
otherwise works really good on elcair
I'd like to switch over from LauncherPro to Zeam and try it out again, but I can't make do without either the Samsung widgets or those of LP. If anyone can guide me to third party widgets for friends streams, and other widgets like in LP, I'd love to give Zeam another go...
Gave it a try. I liked it until I tried to find a way to hide certain apps from the app drawer. Looks like that's not possible, so back to LauncherPro for me.
Maybe in future it will get more features, then I'll take another look at it.
WOW miles fast than Launcher Pro. Only setting I'm missing is the hide apps in app drawer which I can live without given the speed improvement and the awesomeness of that bottom bar.
Impressive and certainly has potential but needs more customisation options to be able to compete with ADW & Launcher Pro in my opinion.
Hi,
if you would like to make Zeam as your default Launcher you have to use ClearDefaultHome (Market app and it's free). It's the same as HomeSwitcher but supports all Froyo releases.

[APP] ADW Launcher EX 1.0

check out this new enhanced version of ADW launcher from the same developer as Christmas present.

cool, faster than Go Launcher
Pretty fast, I like it! The app drawer is sooooo smooth (compared to launcherpro). but launcherpro widgets are too useful lol. I run like 4 launchers on my sgs lol.

I agree but go launcher still falls short when compared to ADW and launcherpro in terms of customization options available.

awesome launcher. very smooth. plus very nice desktop scrolling animations.

BR O.J.
Gingerbread launcher has blown everything else out the water for me at the moment. Basic but solid and fast. I have not used my LauncherPro for ages now.
Installed this yesterday and while launcher pro is good this EX version is by far the most advanced launcher out there. For starters there is icon and label scaling, easy icon swapping for not just schortcuts but also folders. Groups in the app tray (although I haven't figured out how they work exactly.) And custom animations. Definitely worth the couple bucks and the small hassle of switching.
IMO this just raised the bar and it should force some new features in the competing launchers which is always a good thing.
only 2 swype gesture, not good for me
Isn't this launcher open source? What's stopping anyone from making a free fork?

Anyone else unable to backup ADW settings? I could the first time but it now give me a "Error backing up ADW settings" message. I can backup the desktop config just fine.

Launcher Questions

I would like to know some of your opinions. Please I am looking for a launcher that has very little to no battery drain. Very smooth. I used launcherpro but that thing never gets updated and the update they just had doesn't fix anything. So Any Suggestions?

Adw all the way. I was a fan of luncher pro but after a lack of updates and home screen Freeze up and other bugs, I'm now a fan of adw.
I choose launcherpro, uses the least amount of RAM of all the launchers. So its the fastest when multitasking

LauncherPro is my choice as well. But, OP, you should try all of the popular free options:
- LauncherPro
- ADW
- Go Launcher (new and getting more popular)
- Zeam (fast!)
- others, but those are the big names
I personally like either Go Launcher Ex (my current favorite) or ADW. The single feature that I cannot live without is the ability to organize the App Drawer.
Go Launcher lets you create folders to move items into. Also has a nice recent list and task manager built into the app drawer.
ADW lets you create categories to assign items to. Dock is a little more feature rich.

+1 GO launcher.
i was using zeam and it was nice but then the orientation started acting screwy...so i deleted it and got adw launcher ex and what a difference! i absolutely love this launcher and they have so many different themes (free and paid) that change your phone and icons such as an ipad theme, htc theme, mac os, gingerbread theme. really great app and i haven't seen any type of battery drain. i used launcher pro but i was really a fan. and like i said zeam started misbehaving. you really can't go wrong with adw launcher ex and it barely touches your memory if you install themes which is nice!!!

[Q] Best launcher and the feature/advantage of that launcher you can't live without

What is the best LAUNCHER in ur comparison..and the best feature that makes it awesome...(eg. mine is goLauncherex coz it have swipe in the screen to do additional options like swipe down for notification or open helicopter view of all home screens).....REPLY PLZ
I use adw ex because its fast. But when Zeam has widget scrolling back i will use that mainly cause, adw ex is fast but it uses more memory and sacrifices graphics. You can check this by using a dark/black coloured widget and then scrolling, you will see it distort.
I use ADW Launcher Ex, it has the same swipe features and many themes available
Sent from my CM7.1 Desire using XDA Premium App
+1 for ADW Launcher Ex, it just seems to move smoother and more fluidly than others ive tried.
Tried several all they all have advantages, still, surprisingly, I am now quite used to TouchWiz on the Galaxy S2 2.3.3 and while it is not perfect, decided to stop bothering with other launchers for now. It does a fair, fast/fluid job and I complement it with a couple of widget-thingies like Elixir and a couple of apps like Tasker and ZDTools.
The good part is that it appears to be very stable. I'll probably keep using it until something amazing shows up.
LauncherPro, tried Zeam and Go Ex, both rather slowly working. But I like the feature on GoEx launcher to open the recent apps out of the appdrawer...
I like Go Launcher's ability to uninstall an app just by long-pressing on the app icon in the drawer of home screen, and that you could add up to 30 screens--something few launchers can do.
ALso the many themes and icons that it has for free download. Font packs though, are not its strength. You'd have to look elsewhere for fonts.

30 screens -> will be BAD SLOW! i have 3 screens and it is really enough...
launcher pro: tap long on an icon, drag it over the trash can and wait -> so you can uninstall it
I love adw launcher being able to hide app labels, looks much cleaner.
Quite like transparent app drawer too!

[Q] Larger app dock?

Hey guys, is there an app I can download that will replace my current dock with a scrollable one (like the one in stock android roms)? I've tried Apex Launcher but I didn't like the fact that I have to re-create all m folders and also it wasn't running smoothly on my HOX (the carousel was lagging), so I'd rather download an app instead of a launcher. Thanks in advance!
I would have said apex launcher. I'm using it now and it is the most lag free launcher there is. One huge benefit using a launcher like this is that it restores your folders and set up nicely with titanium if you are constantly flagging ROMS.
Give it another go as they did have a recent update.
Otherwise try Nova or zeam launcher.

Just tried GO Launcher EX, Zeam Launcher and Nova launcher.
Go Launcher EX:
Considering the fact that I just want a larger dock, GO Launcher EX isn't for me, it's too chaotic with all its features.
Zeam Launcher.
There's something to this launcher's scrolling that I don't like.
Noba Launcher:
I actually liked this one, I find it perfect! But there's one more thing. How energy efficient is it? I don't want it to waste more battery than Sense which already wastes too much battery! Are there any statistics about battery consumption?
Why don't you try UCCW(Ultimate Custom Clock Widget)? It's the best out there and there is a whole topic of clocks made here on XDA:
