Memory question for One V owners only - HTC One V

How is the memory situation for installing apps? What do you have installed and how much memory is left?
In particular I'm interested in what it says when you go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Downloaded to see if this phone is limited in space for apps. That may not be the exact path as I do not have this phone yet.
Tkanks!

I just get 960mb

Thanks! What does it say when you look at downloaded apps?

Here is mine...
Installed only 23 apps as One V is my second device.

So what is the problem with the memory? On the box it says 4GB, but it looks more like 2GB (phone and internal)

My concern was to see if this phone has the same memory crisis as the Wildfire S, but it doesn't. I've installed over 120mb of apps and still have >140mb free to install more. I've put nothing on the SD card.

Can anyone confirm if the one v will work with a 64gb micro sd card? I know it states up to 32gb but that's not always right.

At the risk of getting moaned at for bumping an old thread, seeing as no one answered it, I can confirm the One V will take a 64GB card.

My icon will becomes like this every time I reboot my DHD.Anyone facing the same problem?
Is it a recurring problem? And it's specifically affect certain application? Backup, wipe data, uninstall and restore in TB should do the trick.
It happens when the application is in sd card. Move them to phone memory or just wait for few minutes. They usually come on their own. Happens to my DHD too.
Oops, my bad. The TB method only works for duplicated icon and (some) missing icon cases. Some of the apps are defaulted to move to SD card (large size issue). And yes, normally it will appear after few seconds (minutes) after reboot. I'm not sure how to fix yours.
Ok,I just moved these apps to internal memory, and I thinked the problem solved,so which mean my SD card got problem?

Owh, I get it. The read speed of your SD card is somewhat a bit slow. But eventually the icons will show, right? It only happens when you reboot your phone and it will grab all the data from the SD card after the error check. There's nothing to worry about.
Yup,I have a class 4 SD card ,so should I change for class 10 SD card XD.1 more question,a slow SD card can affect phone performance(overall ) ?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
You can use it just fine as is it now. But having a faster SD card will boost the data read and write, plus it will greatly improve application handling in SD card. Video recording in higher definition is made possible and smoother. Photos in the gallery will be loaded faster.
Ok,understood, appreciate for your help bro, thanks!

Internal space question

I really want to get the inc2. But with the internal space being only what 2gb. How many apps can u install before u run into problems. I know u can have a 16 gb card. But all apps u can't move to sd. Even if u do some portion is still left on the internal. Well any feedback will help me make the move thanks.

It's 1gb and I have tons of apps..and most apps over 5mb can be moved to sd card.

Do u have over 50 apps on ur device. I'm just trying to get and idea.
I've had about 80 apps and i still had space left. Like knipp said, you can move most apps to SD nowadays.

Here you go. This should give you a pretty good idea of the storage capabilities, couple of screenshots from my phone. 103 user apps I didn't realize I had that many

no need to worry about internal storage. I would be more considered about sd card. Most people put their music and videos on the sd-card anyways. Plus you can expand it to up to 32gb. There aren't many that allow that.

I have over 260 apps including system apps and am only using about half of my internal space.

Speed of internal memory

Is there anyone test the speed of internal memory? Or know any tool to check it?

For what do you need to know that?

I would like to see if it's worth to move some data to the sdcard (by a2sd).

It is because of the severely limited internal storage. Asking that question the other way around has more sense - is it worth to move some data back on internal? Yes if you have a <class6 sd card.
SwiftKeyed from my HTC Desire using XDA App.
Thanks, I know it's limited... so we have to use a2sd.. what if I don't have many app... will the speed affected when i move out my data ? it improves or get worst ?
I just want to be sure, because no one had reported the speed of internal memory. For some a2sd, they move everything to sdcard which I don't know the outcome without knowing the speed of both side. One can try it out.. but knowing before doing experiment is good as well.
Looking at your rom, why don't you try Mounts2sd update?
I don't think there is a benchmark for internal memory anywhere. But without doubt
internal memory is faster than SD Card. Nonetheless, Class 6/10 won't normally have an effect on the phone. Depending what your transfer rates(read speed/write speed), it will almost be comparable to the internal memory speed performance.

A1 SD Bench can test internal memory speed, as you can see from the screenshots

Alright question about the SD card.

So, i have a 16gb sd card in my phone. I've always had one in every phone I buy. The purpose is to have more space for music and movies. With this phone, unlike every previous phone I've had, the 6gb on my sd card is also showing as taking up space in my usb storage (internal). So, basically, having an sd card is pointless since it's using up space on both my sd card and internal storage. This is really pissing me off because I'm now out of internal space because of it. This has got to be a bug, right? If not, this is an insane way of using storage on a phone. Does anyone know how to fix this? By the way, I'm rooted and on FF18. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

Im not sure i understand the question very well but i'll try.
im guessing that you are wondering about the default placement of files on our phone and because the storage is built into the phone samsung made the internal storage the default location for most if not all apps, unless they give you the option to do otherwise. Unlike most Androids previous to those made around the release of the GSII
No,I understand the default thing. What I'm saying is, is when I look at my storage in settings and it shows each item that's taking up space in internal storage, it lists "external_sd" as an item. So it's taking up space that's actually used on my sd CARD on my internal storage. So, I'm losing 6 gb when I shouldn't be at all, because that's on my card, not my internal usb storage. Hope that clears it up for some.

Its just showing that cause it needs to mount to the system. In reality it would only take up a few kb from the phone memory itself just to mount. Otherwise you won't be able to use it.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Hmm..well that can't be the case because it was telling me I'm out of memory when I tried to install an app today. So my internal storage is counting my 6 gigs as part of internal storage when in reality it's just on the card

How good is App2SD?

I've been using DT-A2SD (Dark Tremor) app 2 SD. I'm satisfied enough. But, since it's not developed anymore, I'm looking for another alternative.
How good are those app 2 SD scripts? In my HTC WFS:
- DT-A2SD eats internal memory 126MB for 369MB SD-EXT (Dalvik cache is on SD-EXT). This makes 1:3 ratio.
What about INT2EXT+? It says the ratio is 1:5 *)
*) According to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716124, 100mb internal is needed for every 500mb sd-ext (INT2EXT+/INT2EXT4+)
Has anybody proven it? If the ratio (1:5) is true, I would be glad to migrate to INT2EXT+

I was wondering the same thing. I was always use to dta2sd and I like that there is an app to control it from the phone(Apps2sdGUI) but I see that no one here uses it.

Tested
I finally use INT2EXT+ and sadly it doesn't work as expected. My ROM is often crashed on around 342MB (see the attachment). It think it's not a stable App2SD solution. It doesn't tell you when the internal memory is full. Sometimes, it tells you when trying to install an app. But sometimes, it simply crashed to notify you that your internal ROM is full.
I think DT-A2SD is better and more stable.
This is taken when using INT2EXT+ in almost full memory. The number of apps is almost as much as of using DT-A2SD.
