So I keep hearing of people wanting the 1.28 (or fabled 1.3X) update. I would acutally like the 1.26 update ^^. My One X came with 1.19 .
My question is, can I update without unlocking the bootloader and doing all that business? I would like to keep locked and stock for a bit longer before I start messin at roms and things.
I have read about the Paul O'brien repackage, but again, it looks to require unlock though I could be wrong.
Thanks
David
You should be able to using the RUU. You would need to get the RUU for your region though as another one would fail while updating.

I had the 1.19 before. I upgraded to 1.26. But u need the 707 rom not every 1.26would work with your phone. I can tell u that 1.26 works better than 1.19 but at least on the 1.19 u have the option to hide the 3 dots. Not on 1.26 they up all the time and no option to hide it. What else ...you don't need to unlock bootloader to upgrade u need RRU
THIS IS THE RRU U NEED TO FIND

So I think I found a 707 ROM, but I wanted to make sure it was the right thing before starting to flash since I am all locked up.
Here They talk about Endeavor Shipped ROMs, which leads to a download page where the first ROM listed is PJ46IMG_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.26.707.4_Radio_1.1204... is this what you mean by a 707 ROM?
It would make sense since what I am currently running is: 1.19.707.1.
A follow up question is this: Since this is an update package (I think) would it wipe the phone in the process of the install? Again, I dont have a backup or a way to backup since I have a locked bootloader (if I understand the process correctly).
Thanks for helping out!!
David
The x.xx.707.x ONLY applies if your phone currently has x.xx.707.x on it
If you have x.xx.401.x then you need the 1.26.401.2 RUU
I have a 707 phone, so i need a 707 rom, I get that. But where do I get one? the page listed only has RUU, and from talking to folks in the HTC ONE X IRC room, thats not what I want.
It is what you want as there isn't an OTA for that build. You're going to lose your data however you look at it

Unicorn animation was horrible on aokp, but all the other tweaks was nice. Personally like the new sense.

Yes. I have not tried with this version but have done it with my evo 3D.
Double click the ruu file and wait till it gets to the readme stuff. Don't continue (and don't quit!)
Go to c:\users\<your user name>\AppData\Local look for something HTC (I can't remember), and inside it there will be 2 directories {<with a bunch of numbers/letters>}, one of them contains another directory {<with a bunch of numbers/letters>}, a file rom.zip in there is what you need.
Note, AppData is hidden in case you don't know. You can just type it in yourself and you will be there.
BTW, 1.26.707.4 has just been updated to 1.28.707.10.
<EDIT: I just checked that 1.26.707.4 I downloaded from the link provided by someone. It's a rom by itself and not RUU>

So with that file being a ROM and not a RUU would that mean that I could apply it using stock recovery and it would not require a wipe of my phone and settings (which I have worked so hard to make beautiful)?

Generally if it is from the same base, you would not have to wipe. Remember to nandroid so that you could go back should you need to. You can always try without wiping first and decide whether to wipe and continue or go back if that gives you problem.

I would think the easiest is to have a custom rom. Yours is 1.19 if I recall correctly. Not sure what that is though.
Monx has a custom based on 1.26.707.4 mixed with 1.28.401.9 (I think. It's the European one. He did this mix just before 1.28.707.10 came out. He said he was going to work on 1.28.707.10. Maybe you can wait for this). After using 707.10 for a few days, I can feel there is a difference; some bugs are gone. Teeter for example is playable now. It was jerking all over the place. Have not tried ninja though. I don't play them but use them to test.

1. HTC s710d in China = Verizon Droid Incredible 2 in USA
They are almost identical.
2.If you are Verizon Droid Incredible 2, you MUST be S-OFF before flash.
3.It includes HBoot 1.02, please pay attention before RUU.
Tips: Now, you can remove hboot from ROM.zip then repack before flash, or Flash the ROM which mod by andybones via Recovery below.
If your phone is S-off, please don't worry about the version of HBoot, because you can always upgrade or use any lower version at any time.

I made a flashable deodexed version if anyone wants I can upload it..
I am having issues with the ROM saying that I have no UIM card or something and wont let me get 3g.. is it because I need to flash that PRL from the RUU? I dont want to mess my phone up and not be able to get back to my ROM before if I install the RUU

Hey guys,
4.2 is here!
Please read - Disclaimer
Fist thing is if you are already running 4.1 or 4.2 DONT flash the firmware zip use the nand if you havn't got the OTA theres no need to use the firmware.zip!
Please do not mess with the firmware zip if you don't know what you are doing! I or anyone else are not held responsible for what you do to your phone.
So please read through and if you think you have read then read again until you fully understand what you are doing!
Things you need to know before you update manually
2. A small update is available that will update you to hboot 1.39
3. Using this update on a Bootloader locked phone will softbrick the phone - access to bootloader and fastboot but nothing else
4. IF you have an unlocked bootloader you can use the small update (as per guide) then flash a custom jelly bean rom
5. Currently it is not possible to flash the H3G Jelly Bean OTA (locked or unlocked)
6. Currently there is no way to update H3G phones to Jelly Bean WITHOUT voiding warranty and unlocking bootloader.
Click to collapse
How to flash the firmware.zip
1) go into fastboot and enter "fastboot oem lock" - the device will reboot
2) go into fastboot again and enter "fastboot oem rebootRUU" - there will be a black screen with a silverish HTC logo
3) enter "fastboot flash zip firmware.zip" (you need the firmware.zip from page 1 for this)
3a) enter the same again, the green bar under the logo should go to 100% (either after the first or second time)
4) enter "fastboot reboot-bootloader" to go back to your fastboot
5) unlock your device again with the unlock code ("fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin")
6) Restore your old boot.img (fastboot flash boot name_of_boot_file.img) and recovery (fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery_file.img), make sure you copied them from the nandroid backup folder we created earlier into the folder that contains the fastboot.exe you're using.
(7) Reboot and you should now have Hboot 1.39 with your old boot and recovery.
(8) If it won't work we still have the backup ready to restore the old system, Hboot isn't changeable right now on S-ON devices outside of the RUU routine - so even if you restore your nandroid you should still have Hboot 1.39 now)
Click to collapse
How to restore from a nand
1) copy the nand files into the correct directory on your phone
2) once the nand is on your device reboot and boot into recovery
3) restore the nad of which you want to use either 4.1 or 4.2
4) let it do its magic and boom you are now restored!
Confirmed working with H3G__001, H3G__003, H3g__G04

Old updates bellow
Update 4/2 - threeUK finally release the ota!
Update 23/1 - ***can someone please save the firmware.zip please and also the jb update and upload them to a file host so we can try on our devices who haven't, got it yet.***
*three Austria and Sweden received the update
Update 19/1 - still not getting any dates as to when it may be expected to drop, only thing that can be confirmed by three us that "its still in testing and they are working flat out to test it" (there words). A personal opinion is that it may be out next week if say at the very earliest, and but who knows.
Update: 12/1 - three UK have confirmed they got a new base from HTC on the 10th and it is now in testing, also conformation that all other countries related with three, did originally approved the firmware. Just waiting for the ota to hit or any other new from three. (bit late of an op update but been busy guys sorry)
Update: 8/1 - well guys we are now officially the last UK network to receive the update, from what everyone has been posting, three are not coming back with a straight enough answer. Yes we know it failed on 3g calling success rate but htc haven't been inform on when we have been told. Also today I got told to wait about 15 days but who know.
update: 28/12 - updated op slightly and moved all old info to the bottom!
update: 26/12 - just seen orange branded handsets have got the update 2+hrs ago. Iv been checking but no update as of yet guys. Please Lmk as usual
update: 19/12 - guys as well you may k of the by now three are saying that the update won't be out until mid Jan! Yes it was confirmed in the ota/eta thread but I think in boxed the user and waiting for a message back. Please let me know if you hear anything as normal. Thanks
update: 17/12 - voda and O2 has released the update! No confirms as of yet for H3G but there was a method tried by myself and a few others where I got the 2 apk's from the small update to try and force the ota. This doesn't work so please don't try it quys.
If anyone get the update please share *fingerscrossed*
Please feel free to provide info on what you have heard either from 3 or any other source, but as usual provide proof or your trolling.
Also add please can no one start putting "no update yet", "nothing yet", etc just want proper info on what is been said about the release.
Iv seen a few threads go up with branded jb updates and decided to contact 3UK about our branded firmware and see where we are with them.
Hope this gives anyone with 3 some clearness as to how long they will have to wait. Although knowing them we will end up getting s-off before they even think of pushing jb.
After the fiasco over the 1.29 update on Three I won't be holding my breath but I hope you are right. After they dragged their feet for so long saying it failed testing then surprised us all with releasing 2.17 instead, you never know they could surprise us all again!
After using JB on my Nexus 7 I can't wait for it on the One x.
Thanks for the heads up.

Instructions: W.I.P.
To install the OTA, your system needs to have all the files it shipped with, untouched. If you've added files, such as Superuser.apk to the system, it's fine, as long as nothing was removed or overwritten. You'll also need to have the stock recovery flashed to your device to install the OTA. (Link below...) If your system files are modified, I'd suggest restoring a stock nand backup from this thread. Before restoring one of these, PLEASE backup your current setup. Also, your device does NOT need to be relocked to install this if you are S-Off. I am unsure for S-On users.

I've always been S-Off before ever doing an OTA, so I am unsure about that, but with S-Off, as long as no system apps were removed or changed, and you flash the stock recovery, the OTA should push and install just fine. You'll also be okay if you added files to your system, as long as you didn't overwrite or remove any. After accepting the OTA, I always flash TWRP again, make a backup, then re-flash SU.

Yep, I got it and installed just fine.
I had to unfreeze my frozen apps (Titanium Backup), restore carrier IQ and flash the stock bootloader (Tmo-M8-2.22.531.5-recovery.img).

I tried to find the location of the OTA but couldn't find it. I looked in /cache but nothing was in there. I'm guessing it's gone now that the OTA has been applied?
Here's a link for now. Feel free to mirror somewhere else, this was just the quickest for me.

If unbranded use e.g x.xx.401.x, You can use one of those no problem I've not tried personally I just use ruu zip similar to factory image on nexus but don't have to use fastboot just vol up in download mode and it begins to flash
Yes nexus is very simple what I like about it, my M9 kinda died last night LCD just has lines all down the screen have to return

Hey all,
First, let me apologize for being that guy. The one who asks a stupid question where the fitting response is "read the damn thread." That said, I'm having a hard time figuring this out. I've read a number of threads and don't fully understand how to get this done.Coming from a Nexus 5 where flashing was very straightforward, so please be gentle.
I'm currently running a stock, rooted, unlocked, and S-ON Htc 10. I would like to upgrade to the 1.80 firmware without losing my data and settings. Can someone help me out and point me in the right direction? Thanks for the help.

I agree, I'm on the T-Mobile version, still on the stock 1.21 but running a great ROM.
Was'nt hard to unlock and root this phone, and put a on ROM too. But this whole S-Off stuff and firmware updating seems so alien and strange to me.
I also coming from a Nexus and OnePlus before that, those phones easy as 1st grade to just flash a zip in Recovery for a new firmware or modem update. Why is HTC phones so difficult to do such an easy task, and the whole CID thing too, WTF ?

A cid basically determines your phones region/network and when/where to get updates.
S-off is turning the security off so you can do things, like update your firmware not specifically released for your cid. In order to do this your cid needs to be changed (super cid covers all bases) and sometimes your mid (model id)
@AliLaPointe depending on your firmware determines what you should do, but I'd highly recommend going s-off. Saves so much hassle.

Shouldn't see that being a problem so long as you choose the 1.80.617 version.
Make sure you read up though, as I have only ever used s-off so I'm not 100% certain and if it doesn't go how you want, I don't want to be held responsible.

You definitely don't need to S-off to update.
There is a 1.80 ruu in the guide section. But you'll lose all data that way.
You say you're rooted, but do you get an error when you try to check for the ota update in settings? If so, there are ways to fix that without losing data.
Read the twrp FAQ (dev section) did help with restoring to stock in order to take an ota.
Sorry but I'm having trouble understand exactly what problem you're having. There's an abundance of information on here already about taking ota. So maybe if you tell me exactly what you're not understanding I can point you in the right direction.

Hey Jolly,
Thanks for helping man. Really appreciate it. So what's going on is that I get an error when I try to update via the normal system option. That said, I'm wondering if I can simply run a zip to bring me up to 1.80. Just trying to understand my options.
