what are you two getting as far as battery life
Blazer 4.0 or 4.1 rom. EL29 or FC24 Modem is Bo$$ for battery life.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
FYI.. everyone has a different experience with modems.. one person may be best with el29 another may be best with FDwhatever, and as far as roms go your probably going to hear alot of blazer, and calks.. battery life also depends on stuff in your phone.. like apps and settings.. 3g, wakelocks, background data, wifi.. all that kinda **** will vary your battery life..
you probably already know this, but just pointing it out.. trying to help out around here. =)

Two days on charge, almost 3 or 4 hours of on screen time.
I've gotten the best battery life absolutely hands down on codename YMMV
I just went to calks e4gt 3.0 first time ive been on gingerbread since i got the phone bc as soon as i got it i went to ics lol. very smooth. calk always does amazing work. ill let you guys know how i end up and yea i usually dont mess with profiles seeing as how it already has a battery saver script but i usually roll with 3g off all day unless i wanna surf the internet a little bit then ill turn it on check fb..etc then turn it off drastic increase from having it on all day
I'm using blended ROM from from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20166744 so far I've had excellent battery life.

Wow that's nice. I could probably get that too if I uninstalled tapatalk and angry birds lol.
And I'm running cm9 too (shabbypenguin8-06). Lasted 16 hours before it died today with 3 hours screen time. Not too shabby imho (pun completely intended lol)

Screen on time?
Yeah..screen ontime would help. I usually last like 14 hours with 5 hours screen on time. I don't hold back since I have a spare on the external charger lol.
Its ok if you're a hard core user like having your face stuck on the screen all day long

You should give undervolting a shot if your kernel supports it. That helps with reducing power consumption while in use, while juice defender helps with reducing power consumption while not in use.
Heres an update no charging

That's not very good, even given the fact that you're on 4g the whole day.
You need something like JD. The 4g looks like it's killing you.

Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
yeah that's rather bad. i would put on average that our phone would last 4+ hours display on screen without the use of JD and other stuff.
I would say voice uses more battery than display on.. but barely... like 1.3 : 1 ratio in use voice : display.
Your android system looks a bit high too. Maybe a fresh wipe and install would help things.

Dude.. 22hrs? I need your current setup lol that's a decent battery life i would be happy with that!
it's not your signal, your signal is mostly green when in use. and as you can see the cell standby and stuff is a small %. but yeah try a different rom.
I'm torn between the two.
Depends if you want to stay on GB or try out ICS. Both are smooth, fast, and offer great battery life by excellent devs. I'd say try out Calks latest which is actually 1.6 but if you do, make sure you read up so you don't brick. You should also consider CM9 alpha 4 rom for an AOSP, pure ICS experience.

Does Blazer really improve battery life a lot?
Thanks for all your advices. I am going to root my cousin's Epic 4GT and want to flash a rom that will impress him.
I have been doing a lot of reading on the forum and felt that GB ROMS are better safe than the latest ICS ROMS. So looks like it will be Blazer ROM then.

And that was with pretty bad service mostly, and I was still over 6 hours screen on time at about 7% so if you're gonna say something about the few minutes it charged early on, I still got crazy battery life.

I am on Calk's 1.6 right now. It runs smooth, and is certainly an acceptable daily driver. I get about 15-18 hours out of it now; where as I would get about 25 hours on blazer.
So, for me, blazer has better battery life and was literally a perfect gingerbread rom.
Calk's 1.6 we could call a near perfect ICS rom, and once the OTA is here it'll just be a tossup. IMO
So my cousin upgraded to the white Epic 4G Touch earlier today and we rooted it right away, flashed it with Blazer 4.1. It runs very smooth!!

Help please.
My Epic 4G Touch suddenly said my battery went from 94% last night to 0% within 10 minutes.
I've tested and wall charged all my batteries, even re-flashed my ROM and still get the same reading on the phone.
Plugged in, it works, but if I unplug it, it shuts down immediately.
I have work deadlines to meet and I'm a little frazzled. Am I screwed??
Thank you for any and all advice!

This tip is not rom specific and specifically for people where battery is dropping super duper fast on any rom. I'm talking like a percent every few seconds or so. This happened to me and I tried all the stuff I had read about like, dimming display, shutting off sync, disabling led's, disabling sounds, disabling haptic etc...
With all the apps that are normally discussed for sharing and vieweing battery life, there wasn't an app that was able to show me my current cpu usage level (that I knew about). I found a free one by searching: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eolwral.osmonitor&hl=en
and the second I launched it I saw, unfortunately, that ChompSMS (my go to program for years) was the culprit. Apparently it didn't play nice for whatever reason on my first CM9 Beta1 fresh install.
I uninstalled it and cpu went back to normal etc... now I'm on GoSMS... boo : )
Anyways, hope this helps someone who has the uber mega battery drainage and doesn't know why as I was stumped for a while until I used that app.

Agreed. Had my E4GT for a year now and my stock 1800mah battery just popped a couple of days ago. I think it had been going south for the past few months, cuz right now I'm using my old OG Epic's 1500mah battery and the battery life is better than ever! Dunno why the OG Epic's battery is working so well (considering it's a year older and been passed around the family a few times) but hopefully, my replacement 1800mah will be even better whenever it gets here...

I picked up an Anker 1800mHa battery + charger from Amazon.com and I'm very happy with it. The new battery seems slightly better than my OEM, but I don't think by much. Anyway, I picked up the Anker specifically identified for the E4GT for around $10 (and charger for $10). There are combo deals for other phones that I think are 100% compatible with the E4GT, but I didn't risk it. If you can be confident in what's compatible, you should be able to get 2 batteries + charger for $20.
Please don't rub my nose in it if you get that deal.
I've been running StrongSteve's Blue GB based ROM since last Fall, but he's moved on and I'd like to get on an ICS or JB ROM. The problem is, I tried Blazer's ICS ROM and was only getting 6-8 hours of battery even after calibration...went to my NAND backup of my GB ROM and was getting 3x that. I ran Blazer's ROM for 2-3 weeks, but couldn't take the terrible battery.
If there is an ICS+ ROM out there with similar battery to my trusty ol' GB one, I'd be willing to give it a shot...even if it's a ROM + kernel combo that's getting great battery, that's fine too.
Thanks.
Sturmie

I'm working on this one as well. I listen to Tune-In for the first 5 hours of the day at work so my numbers are skewed.
On unOfficial Rom I could get about 5 hours and still have 10 to 20 percent left, depending on how much time I spent on the phone.
Now on Goodness, I'm lucky if I get to 4 hours before the phone cuts off. I'm thinking it's some of the speed tweaks but not sure.
Still investigating; open to suggestions.
I don't have any proof for my theory. After a month or so of getting my phone, I got an official Samsung external charger for this phone from amazon. 99% of the time I charge the batteries with the external charger. I had my first extended life battery start to lose life after a few months. I feared it was the from but it wasn't. It wouldn't charge in the phone either. I fully charged it in the external then ran it until the phone shut off. I did this a few times of full charge then run until dead. The battery seemed to work decent again and the phone would charge it too. I don't know why either. I have 3 OEM batteries and 3 trexcell extended life. I ran all the oems to 50% charge left then switched to only running the big batteries. I read that lithium ion batteries store better if they have about half a charge left on them. Don't know how factual that is but I did it anyways.
Shadowgod's universe rom is the best I've experienced.
