So what kind of download speeds are you getting? I'm sad to report my iPhone 3GS downloads faster than this phone where I live. This thread is my hope to reach out to the world and see that the phones can download faster than 1.5 mbps.
Thank you all!
Uh yeah,
I'm not in a 4G LTE area, but my "4G" HSPA+ speeds are depressing too, but not quite that bad.
I'm at 3mb down and 1mb up, which is still a joke for a 21.1mbps HSPA+ device.

It's weird, my SGII Skyrocket got around 20mbps and this phone only gets 3-4. I think AT&T does funny things with the data profiles.

is that ok?
22.69 down/ 4.98 up - LTE Houston, TX
Depends.... at my job in the Financial District in NYC I get ~15mbps down/4 up on LTE.
At my apartment in Brooklyn, I get ~21mbps down/6 up.
Go fig.
So why is it I used to get 20MBPS with my GSII but with this phone I'm lucky to get 4? Should I factory reset?

No it isn't.
Vodafone UK currently offer 7.2mbps and have started rolling out 14.4 mbps. However as with anything, only certain areas have the updated speeds at the moment.
Hell when BT had an outage in my area i played halo 2 online, using my treo 750 as the modem.

Since we are going for precision, it's actually 3.5G that's capable of those speeds and those speeds aren't available in the US afaik.See the thread title.

I couldnt get upstream speeds from this site. I may have missed it. I will look again and post later.
For what its worth did a little download test about 10 sites.
Cleared cache. Both had very good signal. I'm on 4G of course. All browser settings identical.
And...yep...Epic was faster 9 out of 10 sites, usually by quite a bit.
And I'm no 'Homer'...actually pushed TMobile a split sec faster to make sure.!
That's because T-Mobiles "4G" is the GSM varient 3G technology equivalent to Ev-Do Rev. B. It's not official 4G, it's "3.5G" technology known as HSPA+. But glad Sprint's 4G speeds are kicking butt where you are. At my house, 4G rarely connects and when it does, it's slower than my 3G speeds. (I luckily pull 2300 kbps on Sprint's 3G.)

WOW, 2.3 down on 3G
id take that any day over 4G, especially if it was consistent
but im not complaining I can pull 3 down in my office, and 2 down in my house...just have to stay still lol
it kills the battery, but my 3G is in the 300K range---
in the dallas area 3g speeds suck all around ... limited to 300 500kbps
4g is awesome u get 2 3mbits easy

You are very luck on 3g! Most people on Sprint 3g get 100kbps to 900kbps. 4g for me anyhow inside or out is 300kbs to 1.9 kbps...Upload 500kbps to 700kbps..I am in Dallas TX in the top 10 market for any rollouts! Sprint sucks when it comes to data. Had a friend that did a speed test yesterday on regular 3g on Tmobile and got 3000mbps up and down. SMH I just only wish.....Feel sorry for the iPhone users who will have no service lol to 500 kbps on average.
Yeah I don't know what's happened to 3G here.
When I had the Evo 4G...Chicago had a big surge here...like AVERAGING 2500kbps on 3g.
Was poorer on the Evo 3D days but not too bad.
Now (with Epic) it averages 600 or so here.
All I can say is....if there is a surge of IPhone buyers coming in they are going to.be monumentally dissapointed in data speeds!
Whatya thinkin Sprint?
I remain on 4G here...(have a MiFi unit in my bag which helps!). Almost always run 4M average on either 4G or WiFi MiFi.

This is a stupid thread. Wifi is the only way to test tue browsing speed. If youre concerned about network speeds, this kind of test is pointless. Congrats, you found ONE place where sprint is faster. Meaningless. At home i get 2mbit down on 4g, at work i get 12. Both spots are deep inside buldings, both in the city.

Ok Einstein....never said it reflected GLOBALLY. Why so irritated?!
It WAS a data transfer test of Wimax vs TMobile HSDP++ of 10 sites I use for 'testing'. Connected to respected networks...not Wifi. (WiFi isn't a network test).
Both had superb signal strength. Both with identical browser conditions.
I suspect if I took both deep inside a building Wimax would not fair as well.
U OK now?

dont like your approach, but totally agree with the message. There are places where tmobile is faster on 3g/4g and vice versa. Not a fair comparison.
Put them both on the same wifi hotspot and then run some tests

I was in ATT today speedtesting my Galaxy Note 4G+ vs Skyrocket LTE.
Skyrocket avg'd 12M Note avged 7M.
Then Dually downloaded Gizmodo, and howardforums etc (bout 10 different sites).... and Note downloaded those sites slightly faster than Skyrocket. Also downloaded a 250+ file and same result.
The LTE speedtests are a crock vs real world performance. Who cares......less you just get off on speedtest app contests.
Edit... Both devices on ATT network. Wifi testing:Note was better by more.
Hello fellow T-Mobile Gnex users. I just received my GSM Gnex last night.
What kinds of speeds are you guys getting in speed tests, and from what city?
I have not changed as settings as of yet, but wondered if there were any that needed to be changed to achieve the best possible speeds, such as APN settings.
Also, were there any specific radios/ "Testing" menu settings changes that you had to change?
In Anaheim, CA.
Outdoors I hit 10mbps versus indoors I hit 3-5mbps.
I didn't modify the APN. I'm on epc.tmobile.com
>8mbps down
>2mbps up
indoors. dallas, tx.
i put my sim in and haven't done **** to the phone.

Thanks for the replies guys. My office is a cell-phone dungeon (Stuck on edge in here). Once I get outside/ "downtown" for my city, I will report in with speeds.
I'm slow I guess...
In Atlanta, getting 4-5mb down and 1-1.5mb upload. Using UGKL1 radio. KK6 caused signal drops (only solution was a reboot) and KK7 was useless - only 2.5mb download speed.
sf bay area -- get between 5-11 down and 1.7 up
have played with with a variety of settings including apn, but doesn't really seem to matter wrt speed

I'm in NYC. The highest I've gotten in Manhattan was about 11.45 Mbps downstream, and this only happened once. T-Mobile's data speeds vary wildly throughout the city and are nowhere near the speeds that forum members from other cities are reporting. On my block (I live in Brooklyn), I've been getting about 1.5 - 1.7 Mbps downstream. A couple of blocks to the North, the downstream speeds are about 4.5 - 6.0 Mbps. A couple of blocks to the East, the speeds drop to about 0.06 - 0.1 Mbps (this is not an exaggeration). I was thinking of switching to Verizon when the GNex was announced, but decided to get the GSM version and ride out the rest of my contract with TMo. I have a two-line family plan, and my wife's line will be out of contract in October. Unless TMo gets their affairs in order, I doubt I'll be renewing.

Eh? the tests I got today are 6-7 Mbps. I even got speeds of 8-10 at one point (not today because I wasn't in that area).
I am in the Chicago area and LTE speeds seem low to me. What is everyones average with the Lumia 900?
When I was in Boston I was getting 15-20down and 3-6up
5-12 mbps here in Vegas.
Here in Orlando it varies pretty wildly based on (I assume) network load. Currently getting about 20-25 down, but sometimes it gets as low 8-10. Up is pretty steady around 6-10.
I got 8-10 down in Evanston, IL and get 22 down in San Fran.
Chicago's LTE sucks. 6to9 down and 1to3 up my galaxy S2 did almost as good and it was not LTE.

I came from a Skyrocket on AT&T and was getting about 30mb/s down and 10mb/s up while on LTE.
My Nexus gets around 3 to 4 mb/s down and ~1 mb/s up on HSPA+.
The strange thing is my wife and son use normal GSII's and they can get 7 mb/s download speeds consistently using the same 'phone' APN as I am. I don't think the Nexus has as good a radio as the GSII does.
Is it a show stopper for you? I mean honestly how often do you see slowness due to download speeds?
I'm glad LTE is here, but for me personally, I can stream google nav with pandora radio at good quality, so HSPA+ is fine for me.
As soon as I stop my car, Im almost always in Wifi coverage
Not a show stopper for me. HSPA+ is just fine for whatever I want to do.
