[Q] Bluetooth 4 Heartrate Monitors and Headphones.

I have a Moto Droid Razr Maxx that supports BT 4. I would like to use a BT 4 heart rate monitor with it. I've only found 2 models; Wahoo Blue HR

Does anyone have any experience with these? Also it looks like the polar is broadcasting on 2 frequencies which may reduce battery life? but can make it more versitile.
I'm also thinking of a BT 4 headphone, Motorola SF600;

I think I'll be getting the Wahoo Blue based on this review. I like the custom firmware.

Also the Motorola SF600 is not BT4.

Another update, the Droid Razr Maxx will see the Wahoo Blue HR but will not pair with it. I guess next up is the Polar H7.

Bluetooth Smart Ready

Has anyone gotten it to pair with a bluetooth 4.0 smart ready device? I am trying to get it paired with a heart rate monitor.

How about the new Jelly Bean ROMs for the Galaxy 3? Maybe (hopefully!) they have this issue fixed?

I do hope they fix this soon. I now use the Polar Wearlink Bluetooth Heart Rate Monitor but I'd like to use the new Polar H7 HRM that has bluetooth and 5 kHz technology so you can also use it with your cycling computer and at the gym. I also hope it is more gentle with the battery.
The H7 works fine with my wife her iPhone 4S. It works great while cycling. You can monitor your ride with your cycling computer while the phone in your pocket records your ride with Endomondo and gives you advice if you have setup a specific training program.

Mine pairs flawlessly with a Bluetooth 4.0 USB adapter. This is the one I use: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007Q45EF4/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01
I am even running it on Windows 7 x64 Enterprise without issue, whereas others have trouble working correctly in Win x64.

I don't see how I can use that adapter on my Galaxy S3.

you could try it with an otg adapter ... i don't know if it will work, but it might.

[Q] Polar H7 heart rate sensor and the HOX

Does anyone hva a solution for the Polar H7 heart rate sensor not working on HOX? The H7 utilizes the new bluetooth 4. The HOX supports this standard, but Android seems to lack native support for it?

I do not have a solution but I can share my experience. I just bought the Polar H7 this morning and successfully paired it with my Motorola Photon Q 4G which also supports BT4.0.
After reading a lot of user experiences on the Internet it seems that this isn't a native Android issue as many have suggested, rather, you need to make sure you are using a heart rate monitoring app that can detect BT 4.0 devices. I'm using MapMyFitness which works fine but I've seen reports of many other users using apps that do not detect heart rate on both Android and that other fruity OS when paired with the H7.

Bluetooth heart rate monitors

Hello all, I have just updated my GS3 to Android 4.3 stock and was looking to purchase a bluetooth heart rate monitor to use with runkeeper or endomondo.
I have read a lot of articles about the issues of android bluetooth 2.0 and the upgrade to 4.3 giving the GS3 SMART/Bluetooth 4.0 support. As this update has not long been out for Vodafone UK (I am not sure of the rollout times for other devices) I am struggling to find anyone who can confirm if any of the 4.0 HRMs actually work with the stock ROM and these devices.
I was looking at getting the Kyto device or a polar H7?

I can confirm that stock 4.3 works fine with Polar H6. i've used Runsastic Pro and Polar Beat. Tried Endomondo quickly and it didn't find HR.

One and heart rate monitor belt Polar H7

So I bought the Polar H7 heart rate monitor belt. It transmits both on 5kHz and also BT 4/BT Smart/BLE. I tried to check beforehand if it was compatible, which was not easy as HTC does not say that One is BT Smart Ready (that is the term for a phone) and the accessory shall be BT Smart compatible. So this post is just to bring the good news and to say I got it to work
OK, it is not so difficult as both Polar H7 and One is listed on BT's official site. Then I guess it should be straightforward..
However the app Polar Beat which goes together with H7 is not compatible with One, I tried to install it, but it is not possible to get it to work. So then what?
You use another app as iCardio, Runtastic pro or Endomondo, Endomondo which just today got support for Bluetooth Smart.
This works OK. However for stationary training Runtastic will not calculate kcals, so using iCardio or Endomondo should be the solution. I have not tried either of the last two yet.
Edit: I tried Runtastic Pro, iCardio and Endomondo at the Gym, 1 hr 20 min of Circle training not too hard intensity, I got 1055 kcal burnt with Endomondo which seems very high.
With iCardio app I got 724 kcals burnt which seems more reasonably. Probably high too, but at least more likely.
So I guess to soon to be impressed by Endomondo's new support for BT Smart
The blocking of Polar Beat seems to me to be because of commercial partnering between Apple and Polar, and possibly Samsung.
I have even called Polar headquarter in Finland to get an answer, but they will not say anything.
Some places it says that Samsung S4 and S3 is beta testing for android, I do not know. Of course, it is possible.
Anyway the belt works with different android apps, but I miss the Polar Beat app which seems a little more refined and advanced.
I would think Polar would want to sell the belt H7 to as many customers as possible, but I guess they are comitted to Apple and possibly Samsung.
As the belt both communicates with 5kHz and BLE it will show your pulse on training equipment displays in the gym and also on a Polar BLE compatible monitor as RCX5 or another.

I am in the same boat and I used to use Runkeeper to track my runs and i loved it. But it doesn't support this feature and after inquiring with their help team it seems as though they have no intention of supporting it any time in the NEAR future if at all. I have since moved over to Map My Run and Map My Fitness, they can log indoor activities and pair VERY easily with the Polar H7. It's not a perfect situation but I hope that helps you until everyone else catches up with the curve.

Yes, like you, I manage , but I hoped Polar would make it possible to use One with Polar Beat.
Or that it will be other good apps to use.
At the moment I use several, but am not happy with any one.
I have used several apps, among them iCardio which pairs easily.
I was surprised that Polar Beat have released an update April 29 and now it is possible to install the app on HTC One, M7 and probably lots of other mobiles with BT 4 /BLE.
Good news, I thought.
However, so far I am not able to pair and get the app showing heart rate.
I have used my One with H7 and 4 apps and never had any problems pairing.
I even used 3 or 4 at the same time to compare, and no problems.
So I hope Polar will fix the app in a coming update, or does anyone have a solution?.
Update : I fiddled around and finally managed to pair with both Beat and iCardio active and paired iCardio first. Then Beat found the H7 belt and heart rate worked and showed.
I will try out Beat now and see how things works.
