Okay so I presume all of you one X power users have noticed a the horrible battery performance. I only got my one x yesterday and I'm already frustrated with the fact that i yet again have to carry my charger around with me. Is there a fix? I have root and custom recovery. So if there is a fix for this please someone let me know.m
Since I flashed the Revolution HD I got excellent battery performance. Without doing too much stuff (just calling and texting), battery remains > 50% at the end of the day. I would really recommend that rom.
I've just flashed it, going to see how it goes. But I would've expected HTC to bang a beast of a battery for the beast of a processor and massive screen its gotta run. Oh well, still early days, hopefully we'll see massive software improvements.

Not really, no. Personally I did not unlock device, neither root it, neither installed any fix. And I must say that I'm more happy with battery life than I was with my previous phone SGS2. More then 16 hours here with 4 accounts synchronization on, 3g/wifi on, and sometimes gps + music on (for Endomondo). I'm really happy with my One X.
ARHD Rom, auto-brightness, plain wallpaper, no haptic feedback, no roaming, managing syncing, and a few other tweaks will leave this devices battery life as one of the best.

Yep. Relax. I got 6 hours from first charge, 10 hours from second charge, 12 hours from third charge...
After over two weeks I'm now getting between 18 and 24 hours. Give it a couple of weeks before judging battery life.

I try to use as much as I can the first few days, and time it so that you have about 10-30% charge left when you reach home from work/school and then I let it charge overnight.
I know quite a lot of time was spent idle, but 60% after 7 and a half hours isn't too bad http://twitter.com/Dev_Meltus/status/194082996767309825/photo/1/large

Have been seriously contemplating getting the One X.
My first choice had been the Galaxy S3..... but the One X seems the better choice.... I have had the iPhone 4 for almost 2 years, so now it's almost upgrade time If the Galaxy S3 had no physical home button I would be taking it.
Had been worried about the battery life of the one x but after reading these and a few others it seems worth it and it's available in black (dark grey but darker than S3 metallic blue)
I Just hope I don't have issues with app incompatibility for the apps I use on iPhone.
With normal usgae, I've got more than 10 hours after one charge. Not so happy with it but it's good enough for me.

i also want to swap my iphone 4 with One X and looking for different experiences especially with the battery life
I've turned everything off and left my phone on idle, my battery issue has persisted for over 6 months now (I bought it in Singapore on release day). With screen on min brightness, static wallpaper, most apps off, my battery drains fully within 6 hours. If I actually do anything with it like make phonecalls, it drains in hours. The battery phone is constantly hot, when on charge It's almost too hot to hold. If while on charge (AC) I use it to make a call, it complains that it's not receiving enough power. Should I look to get a replacement from HTC? I'm still using stock rom so it should be covered under warranty?
Sounds like the htc amaze battery overheat..
Also get gsam battery app.. it will tell you what apps are using what % of battery.
I also use advanced task manager from play store.. it proved to me how much gmaps Facebook and other bloat was ALWAYS RUNNING!.. I got root and froze it all with big improvements
Some of us who htc amaze w no warranty bought a new battery and that fixed it

Aside from your time travel/exaggeration, I suggest better battery stats, finding out what is causing wake lock, and killing.it.

Hi guys!
I have question.
When i have charged my HOX, and just normally use it, it looks like it jumps from 100 to 99, to 98, to 92!! It just stick to 98 for a while, and after that it jumps to 92 (just an example). I am on leedroid's ROM atm. Is this a common problem?
Thanks!
I'm on stock ROM and using battery widget monitor and I get the same think, guess it's just they way the system reports the battery percent. Had the same issue on my Sensation ad well.

Hmm, i think a software tweak can sort this out. Saw there is a tweak for sensation too right?
When you charge your phone it will charge to 100%, then take itself off the power source. It will then deplete the battery to 90-95% and then go back on the power source until 100%, and repeat. This is why you have those jumps in battery percentage. Once it charges to 100% once, it will be "fully charged" even if it is in one of those discharging states.

I know there are loads of threads about the HTC ONE X battery but I really could not find a proper answer to my question so im starting a new thread. So I have had my 1X since last thursday, just over a week now and the battery life has been utterly horrible. But the worst thing is that the battery life is getting drastically shorter and shorter every day. Now its unbearable I cant even use the phone. I wonder if it might be because I did not do any 'first time battery charge'?. I just booted the phone instantly instead because honestly I did not know that you had to charge the battery before booting the phone the first time. The first time I started the phone it had just over 40% of battery and I used it until the phone shut off and charged it 100% after that while it was updating to the newest software. Is this perhaps the reason why the battery life is so god damn horrible and even worse than other 1X's?. When I charge the phone 100% it drains 1% of battery or more every minute now just when browsing the menu or the web or just doing nothing but putting the screen on. The screen brightness setting is on automatic and I have tried all kinds of battery savers and now im using juice defender ultimate still the battery life is horrible. I kill and close apps all the time and have nothing running in the background when not using it and I always turn off wifi when not using and I turn off auto sync and all the other battery eating tasks and stuff. Still I cant use the phone. When its 100% charged at about 8:00 in the morning the battery is done for at around 10:30 with moderate use. I cant get more than about 3 hours of on screen time before the battery is finished so basically what should I do? Is this normal?

And if you'd have read the other threads that you said don't apply to you you'd realize that because your phone is still new battery life will improve with more charging cycles. If you expect more than 3 hours on the low-end or five on the absolute high-end of screen on time the One X isn't for you. Because of the non-replaceable battery (which shouldn't be a surprise) a lot of us have auxiliary battery chargers for getting through the day when the phone can't be topped up on AC power. Speaking for myself, the design of the phone is what attracted me to it and the non-replaceable battery is a trade-off I accepted. That might not be a trade-off everyone’s willing to accept and the One X isn't going to win any battery life awards.
Autobrightness seemed to cause my battery to drain. Turned it off and its much better (or seems that way for now)

Upload few screens of your battery usage so we can see what is causing such drain. I can tell you already now the screen is the main battery drain. A phone can barely survive 4 hours of heavy usage, especially not on automatic brightness.

Yeah ill do that, how do I take a screen shot? Powerbutton + homebutton thing doesn't seem to work for me :S. Today for example iv'e charged the phone 3 times and after the 2nd charge I used to phone for 5 hours and 25m until only a few % of the battery was left. I had juice defender ultimate up and running most of the time and screen time was at around a bit over 2 and a half hours. All I did was some web browsing and mostly menu browsing and setting browsing on the phone and some xda developer browsing with the app. No gaming whatsoever. Really horrible battery... such a pity considering how much I love the phone otherwise. Its no problem when im at home connecting it to the computer with the usb cable all the time but when im actually using the phone outdoors its frustrating as sh*t.
It doesn't really matter what you are doing, you will only get around three hours of screen on time.

Sounds like a lemon, have it replaced asap. HOX is the only android device I had that gets me through the day w/o charging doing basic stuffs (data always on etc) like what normal people do. I've had sleepless nights last month because my 2-week old GN got pick pocketed battery life for GN in my case was horrible (5 hours).
how do you know if your battery is defective? i'm getting around the same battery life myself :/
This is why unreplaceble batteries suck. I wish I'd bought the s3 instead still though I love the HOX only if the battery was a bit better ffs. Im getting a little bit better battery today but with loads of tweaks, still some 'untweaked' hoxes get better battery lives, still though it seems like there are loads of one x's that have the same issue as I do. Does this mean all one x are different or what?

It happens to me as well, but only if I turn on WiFi and let the phone use it´s online services.
Hoping that the Jelly Bean update with Sense 4+ brings some kind of optimization.
I have my HOX configured pretty much like my SGS3 and my S3 lasts 20, 30% longer and about 7ºC colder.
Same here, kinda want to change my phone again if HTC doesnt fix this problem.
do a battery calibration, app like this works https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration&feature=search_result
before the app 1 day usage = 60% of power left
after = 85% left
HTC made too much of the safty triggers for the battery if u use it lightly every day its minimizing side effects by making new one (less charge)
How long have you had your One X, OP? It takes several full charge cycles for the battery to calibrate, it's one thing about One X that's weird. I remember being completely disheartened with battery life when I first got mine - and it was horrible, pretty much like you've described it, 1% every minute or so - but only kept it because my mobile operator wouldn't replace it before making sure there is a hardware malfunction, which could have taken weeks, and I was impatient. Then I learned from xda that this slow calibration phenomenon is a thing with this phone.
I hope you're right svucinic811 I'm really getting worried here

Will this work even without rooting my phone? I'm running on Stock Sense 4.1, but this seems like it would help a lot.
As well, if you (for a couple days) go without charging your phone in the middle of the day and let it run down until you charge it again I think you will see some results in the battery life. My battery would die everyday before school ended for me (Wake up at 7:00 AM, Phone dead by 5:00 PM). Unless it was just a placebo affect for me, its worth a try.

What's forever? 3 hours is about normal, unless you're heavily using it.
You don't have to calibrate Better Battery Stats. Just charge it up to full, then wait for it to happen again. Open it up, choose Since unplugged (obviously you should not have plugged it in at any point of time since the full charge), then take a screen shot of Kernel Wakelock, Partial Wakelocks and Process.
@Rohin, USB Cable quality plays a big part as well. A cheap rubbish USB cable even connected to the wall socket charger can only charge at 300+mAh, while a good one can charge up to about 750+mAh. About 85%-90%, charging usually slows down to about 200-300mAh, then slows down even more as it approaches 100%.

Batteries are gauged by how much voltage they are pushing in most tests. Though from my hobbies of electric rc cars, I've learned that batteries can change their voltages simply from a temperature change. While these changes may not be significant, they do represent differences and used to play a big part in my fifteen minutes charge cycles. It's harder to receive a positive rating in a cell that is low on power than it is with one on max charge. So if I'm down to twenty percent or so, I use my phone very sparingly. Has been pretty trustworthy for me over the years.
Either way, suspicious battery drain is usually a rogue application sitting there eating resources as the phones we use do seem to monitor battery life pretty good compared to the old voltage meter methods.

I assume you had a good signal everywhere you went? Nothing drains a battery faster than being in an area where there is very low or no signal. It constantly tries to connect and it will KILL your levels very fast. I see this quite a bit in my work place. Employees with Sprint and many times AT&T will complain about their battery dying at work only to find out the phone was constantly searching for a signal.

You know, I totally forgot about that. I used to have that issue with Sprint myself. Killing the data would eliminate TONS of battery usage when I was at work. Now that I'm on Verizon, there's never much problem. But he's completely right. If you're not getting a quality signal your phone may be searching and that can be an all day thing which just eats a battery alive.
I am in a near perfect signal. I'm pretty sure its has nothing to do with coverage. What's strange to me is the phone immediately dies. It will be at 50% and then the screen goes black and won't come back on. Once I plug it in the phone finally comes back on and is at zero.

I'd have to search around, but taking these batteries all the way down actually reduces their effective life.

Basically, the more you drain the power before charging, the less charge cycles the battery will have. Someone who charges at 75% compared to someone who charges at 25% will have more cycles over the life of the battery. I can't remember the exact numbers, but there's been plenty of studies on the issue. And if I'm correct charging at those numbers, the 75% will have more than twice the charge cycles over the life of the battery. The biggest battery killers though are actually higher amperage charges. One study showed more than five times the life cycle at 3.7v per cell compared to 4.3v. And the charging required to power the higher voltages actually cause more damage over time than the extra mah output is worth. The HTC one has a decent setup and the stock charger doesn't over feed the cells. But in not sure if it will make it to the 700 charge cycle that a two year contract may leave a user with.
