Voice Mail Dialing Problem - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I am having a problem with dialing access code to retrieve messages. When asked to enter access code, I enter it, it shows correct on screen, but I get the message code error with some digits doubled. In other words when it repeats my access code and says instead, say 1234#, it says 12234# or 12334# even thou it shows on the screen 1234#.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Rick

Though I don't have the answer for this, you can help the people who would be able to answer it with giving some more specifications on how your phone is set up.
Such as Rooted/Unrooted. Rom/Kernel/Modem.. Etc.
The ideas I have are only checking the PRL and such to make sure they are up to date though it seems like it would most likely be a modem problem.

Sorry I meant to include that info. Guess I'll try your ideas to see if they make any difference.
Thanks,
Rick

[Q] Flash help please

I had my Epic touch flashed to Boost, but my MSID is 0000000000 instead of my number, which is giving me error 67 and no data connection. When I go into the menu using the MSL to fix it, it won't take. I select the edit screen, and it has a box at the bottom which says "touch here". I do, then the key pad comes up and I type the number in, but it won't delete the "touch here" characters, and then when I go out and click done and it reboots, theres still no data, and I go back in the the MSID is back to all 0s.
I literally got this phone yesterday and I'm not sure if there's a problem with the flash or if its user error on my part not knowing how to edit my MSID.
Thanks for any help you guys can offer.
I believe you can edit the msid from qpst build 323. I personally use cdma workshop tho.
Sent from my BAD A$$ EPIC TOUCH 4G
I tried finding CDMA workshop, but I couldn't find a free copy. I didn't want to spend $200 just to fix my MSID.
I will try QPST though.
Thanks, will let you know
I did not see anywhere to enter my MSID in CDMA or QPST, but that is most likely user error, I havent used those programs much.
UPDATE: I did get the MSID changed and it saved, but it is still giving Error 67: Data username/password.
Anyone have any ideas how to change this, or should I just reflash it?

Rogers (CANADA) Messaging Center Number

Let me guess...
You've discovered some hidden menus recently by typing codes in the dialer and find out this one: *#*#4636#*#* that open a "Testing" screen showing options like this:
Phone Information
Battery Information
Usage Statistics
Wi-Fi Information
Then you went to Phone Information
Tried some options (maybe played with SMSC:_________Update / Refresh ) but that was not doing anything so you exited the menu.....
after a while you wanted to send a text or someone was asking you "Did you got my text?" and you didn't....
Here's what hapened: Accidentaly you erased from your phone the "Messaging Center Number" wich is responsible for giving your phone the access to the SMS/MMS central of your provider.....resulting in loosing the ability to send/receive messages.
Don't worry, after having navigated XDA Forums I finally found my way to make it work again (yes that's because I did it that I now now it).
By the way, even if you Factory reset, flash a new rom/radio/kernel that mistake is gonna stay. You need to enter the number again.
in the *#*#4636#*#* hidden menu,
scroll down to "SMSC:"
in the box type: 0791715097960300
press the "Update" / "Mettre à Jour" (first button)
Now exit and Reboot the phone.
To test it, don't try to resend an old test message as it contain old message center number. I even suggest to delete previous text messages from your inbox if possible.
If it worked, everything should be fine by now. (you can even kudo me for this loll)
NOTE:
The real Roger Center number is +17057969300
the thing is that it need to be Encrypted in Hexadecimal PDU format.
(user MarcusVanSciver on XDA shown that link in thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412261)
That was for Orange Network (european have 8 number to phone number instead of 7 so I had to add a 0 at the end to make it work for Rogers)
after Encryption the number was now: 0791715097960300
This worked for ROGERS, the trick could maybe work for other networks but I can not validate the info. (but for sure this will not be the same number)
This had been tested with stock rom and Custom Rom With Custom Radio and Custom Kernel.
If this helped you, please give credit to this post ;-)

Easier way to do it without mucking around looking for your SMSC. It's how I got mine up and going again!

Hey man, this might be a bit old for you but i just got a galaxy nexus. I am having the outgoing text issue. I've tried that number and everytime i hit update it just says update error. Think you mightbe able to help me?
Damn this doesn't work for me
To program the SMSC (Text Messaging) number on Android devices, please follow these steps:
Go to the phone application.
From the phone application, press *#*#4636#*#*. (You will have to press the Call or Send button after entering this code in for some Android devices).
Tap on Phone Information
Scroll to the bottom to where it says SMSC and enter this number exactly as you see on this page (including all symbols): +17057969300
Press Update.

[Q] [AOKP] Questions for AOKP rom

Got a few questions specifically regarding the new aokp JellyBean rom for the Epic, and I thought I'd post them here since the original thread got shut down:
1. Is there any way to get the "enter" button to not send messages in the SMS application?
2. Is there any way to prevent the "mount your USB storage!" popup from coming up every time the device is connected to a computer?
3. Back on the samsung based roms, I was able to to type ##debug## to get to a menu where I could force 1xrtt mode for extremely low signal situations. In the new rom, I found you can get to that same menu by typing in *#*#debug#*#*, but any screen prompting for the msl code is now impassable. I know my msl code, but it gives me a "modem error" no matter what I type and asks "modem exception occurs", to which the only option is "yes" (clicking it just closes the application).
Any way to get around this?
Thanks

1: press the function key before enter.
2: No idea.
3: Have you tried using voice search to access the menu? Also, you could buy ROM Control for this.

2. Turn on USB debugging in Settings - Developer Options. If you can't find it, go to Settings - About phone, tap Build number 7 times and return.

Sorry, I should've been more specific. I was actually aware of this, but I was hoping that there would be a way to change this functionality on the stock messaging application so that I don't have to hit the Fn key to get the enter button to do what it's supposed to do.

It's not that I can't access the menus, it's that some parts of the menus prompt for my MSL code before I can access them, and for some reason, typing in my MSL code (000000) doesn't do the trick anymore, it just gives me that "Modem Error" and lets me know that a "Modem exception occurs". My only choice in the dialog is "Yes", but that just exits the menu completely.

I actually do have USB debug enabled already and a widget to easily toggle it off for use with computers that don't have the driver installed. I see the popup upon USB connection with USB debug enabled or disabled.

I'm not sure if you're saying your MSL code is 000000, or if you were using zeros as placeholders. If you are saying that your MSL is 000000, that would be very unlikely. To get your correct MSL, use a Terminal Emulator of your choice and type "su" and press enter, then "getprop ril.MSL" press enter again and you should see your MSL. Also, you wouldn't happen to be using a NS4G modem, would you? I'm not too sure on ways to fix this, because it hasn't happened to me.

Good question - My MSL is, as a matter of fact 000000, (I even doublechecked with the terminal on the off chance that something changed it) because I changed it to that to make it easier to access in CDMA workshop, qpst, and qxdm back when I was working to clone my old phone's service so that I could continue using my sprint sero $30 unlimited data plan.
As for the modem, I am still using the stock Epic EL30 modem. Would this be causing the problem? And if you don't mind sharing, which rom and modem are you using? What happens when you dial *#*#DEBUG#*#* at the dialer?
Thanks

Like I said, I'm not sure what causes the modem exception error. I'm using Effsi's 0611 build of PACman ROM with didhiy's 0606 nitest, and the NS4G LF2 modem. And when I dial that, it prompts for the MSL, I put in my MSL and it goes to the debug menu with no problem.

Urgent help needed! Can't sign into Play Store to install Authenticator!

Sorry, I know this isn't specific to the 10, but I'm desperate. I just wiped my phone and now I can't sign in to Google without the Authenticator app (which I can't get because I can't sign in). I can't change my 2-step verification settings from my laptop because it requires a code as well. What the hell do I do?!
Edit: I don't have backup codes, but I did setup a backup phone. When I click "Try another way to sign in" it doesn't show any backup options, though.
I've always just had it text me during first time setup..
Yeah, normally texting is how I get past it if I don't have the app installed did you not configure it with your phone number? I even have my wife's number as a backup to my backup
I did have a backup number, but for some reason it's not showing up in the options.

On the phone click "problem with code" and then select text, it will automatically receive the text code and enter it automatically
or
On the website click "Try another way to sign in"
In either case the only options were to enter the code from the app or initiate an account reset.

Question Caller ID Issue

After I've rooted my phone, I've disabled Show Caller ID(so that others can't see my phone number), and now I cannot enable it; It shows an error "Unexpected response from network" I tap Ok and another error pops out "Network or SIM card error".
I've tried to reset the dialer app and it changed nothing(about the error).
But one thing that I wasn't able to do is to locate directly where this setting is stored(in the directory), and it has something to do with my phone number, since whenever I use a different SIM it enables Caller ID; While still being unable to access the setting itself -- uses default.
Or are there other ways to fix this?
Thanks in advance!
You'll need to talk to your cellular service provider to reset this if you see that error.
