Hi all,
I would likw to know how can I lock HTC Sense into ram so that it will not restart always. I remember seeing it somewhere where we just need to edit some command in word document or something... Please enlighten me as I tried searching for it but to no avail. I am using rooted stock rom 1.26.707.4.
Thanks.

Has stopped crashing sense for me
Just leave a reply so we know if it helpes also others .
Thanks... But Xmoo, does this method still work for stock roms? I searched through google and there are some people saying the build.prop editing method still can see Sense reloading... I just used the V6 Supercharger script and shall see if there's any reloading of sense then will only try the build.prop...

That's something I don't know. This fixed Touchwiz from restarting when clearing RAM on my SGS2.
This is pretty crazy to me. Why is it happening at all? The phone has 1GB RAM, my old Desire HD has less at 768MB but I never experienced going Home and having to wait for Sense to reload. I've brought it up with HTC briefly and they seem to think it's Sense recovering after crashing, not reloading. I hate carrier branded ROMs, I'm on such an old version.
Hey, I tried searching for the ro.home thingy but there isnt 1 in the build.prop file... how??
Nevermind... I just open the file and add in the command at the bottom... After a reboot I used the browser quite heavily to the extent where usually my Sense will reload... But it didn't... Lets hope its working and not placebo effect... Touchwood As for now... Fingers are crossed!
Is it possible to lock HTC Sense in RAM with unrooted phone?

No it will not. You need root access in order to edit build.prop.
In answer to your question there is no way to lock Sense into Ram without rooting your phone. However you should consider rooting, you wont regret it!
this doesn't seems to work with ice cream sandwich now, is there another solution? this always puzzles me why launchers aren't lock in memory by default, it is the basic user interface.
Goto settings>Developer Options> Make sure "Dont keep activities" is not checked..if yes then uncheck it..

guys hello,
i am new at the android "scene"
andd i need some help. a lot of people report that oxygen v2 rc5 is a lot
faster-smoother than htc sense. now from what i read it's based on gingerbread
right? and if so if i flash my DHD will i be able to root? and if yes could you provide
a noob's guide to flash my DHD?
thanx in advance.
Oxygen, isn't that for the standard desire? CM6.1.3 is fast and android stock. Isn't gingerbread yet though.

don't ask me i am the noob here!
Did you find it in the development section for the DHD??
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
i found it while searching on a different thread and i clicked a link and
there i was:

It's for the standard desire.

ok so do you have any other rom to suggest.
i am looking for one that isn't lacking any features,
is stable and has a smoother scrolling look on like an
iphone.
ps: no i don't want an iphone i just want my brother
who has one to stop using the only advantage of his phone
over mine to annoy me.
Just backup your existing Rom and start flashing Rom's. LeeDroid is popular, I run CM6.1.3 which I think is very good. Have a play and see what you like. Enjoy.

one last thing --> how do you flash a new rom???????
Read the sticky threads on the developers thread. You really need to understand what your doing before going any further.

ok thanx, will do.
ok so i got everything figured out. it's not as difficult as i thought
but there's a small problem. i install clockworkmod recovery from rom manager
but when i get into recovery i see the phone with the triangle. then i press
volume+ and power and the menu appears but it only has the 4 basics
no nandroid. what do i do?

Sounds like you don't have s-off. If you don't have s-off your recovery will be restored to the factory version when you reboot.
Go to the development section and grab the "one click radio s-off" tool. It will take care of the problem for you.
Sent from my performance enhanced Desire HD
ok gonna try that thanx.
read and do this first
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841076
then choose any rom from the development section .. place the downloaded file on your sd card .. reboot into recovery choose install zip from sd card .. navigate to your downloaded file and install
I would recommend Android Revolution HD or Leedroid if you are looking for something very stable ..
ok guys thanx for your help but idecided not
to flash because i did some tricks and now my phone running fine.
1)uninstalled task manager (i am on froyo and you know the rest. haha)
2)uninstalled setcpu (i read somewhere that it may cause problems when running even if not profiles or any sort of overclock are active. that was the case with me, although i will miss the 245mhz screen-off profile.)
3)reduced my widgets and pages from 9 to 3 and 6 to 2 respectively
4)changed some options in launcher pro
these resulted in no more fc's and a lot smoother scrolling in menu, sms, homescreens etc.
despite the fact that when i scroll slowly between homescreens it's a bit laggy.
overall great.
thx again guys. if nothing else, i learnt a lot.
So i just got a new g2.. well new to me used to someone else. The person that sold me the g2 told me its a stock rom however even after a full factory reset it has a froyo 2.2 rom in the about phone but the theme looks like gingerbread on the home screen and when you click applications it show that screen as the cube which leads me to believe its a gingerbread theme. He assured me its a stock tmobile froyo rom but for some reason after a full factory reset wouldnt it not have the gingerbread theme? Is there anyway to know what rom is on the phone? The other issue seems wierd to me is the market is still the old version so the phone has not been pushed the newer market which leads me to belive there might be acustom rom on there also.
Aahhahah dude dude put a screenshot up im pretty sure ur just confusing froyo with ginger because froyo. DOes have cube launcher n there is no custom rom uusing gingerbread theme .

i was starting to wonder if a secret OTA was out and about.
i had the same question a long time ago -- how do I tell exactly what ROM is installed in the phone without having to boot into the rom itself? Like Im in clockwork and I forgot exactly what rom I flashed.... and wanted to find out how to figure it out using adb or whatever.
does the signature of the rom state the actual version?

There are two "identifiers" that are simple to find.
Go to Menu>settings>About Phone.
At the bottom of that page there may be two lines.
Mod Version (tho this line may only show up on MODDED roms), which should tell you the version and name of your mod.
The last line should show you a Build number.
THIS number is the important one. Mine is FRG83. FRG83 is a FROYO architecture, and even tho i am running CyanogenMod, it is based off the Froyo architecture.
If you have something different, you can Google it, i am sure Google will give you something quick if you type in the build number.
edit: Also, the gingerbread "look" of the homescreen, and the app drawer, are stock t-mobile G2, and do not indicate that it is gingerbread architecture. I noticed those "similarities" as well, for the whole 5 minutes i had my phone, unrooted. <smirk>
Ok that is cool thank you that clears up a lot. Then im curious because i Have a samsung vibrant and the market was updated on there to the newer look did it not get done on the g2 or is thre something else i need to do to update that market on the g2?
Thanks for the info....I just want to restate the question differently...
How do I get the actual build into from adb? How would one go about finding the actual version and build if one was unable for whatever reason to boot into the rom to find out?
Other than doing "adb pull /' which would take forever to pull all 300mb of system file..how can I quickly identify it? There must be a way.

t if you don´t have root permissions you can´t 3.0 lockscreen from the recoverymenu...okay...
but, can be i´m mistaken.. i don´t remember all the parameters that you must to enter in the CMD or linux shell (like me) for push it from sdk of android...now i´m mixing concepts in my head (and i can´t see it because i´m writting from my device)but i hope that you need also superuser permissions for it...(root)
EDIT:you can root, install recovery, flash it and revert root access lol

Sorry im a lil bit new to this, (i've rooted my phone before, was running Cyanogenmod 7.0.2, but still.. a lil bit noob) hehe
But what happends when i "root, install recovery, flash it and revert root access" ?
First you will have to root to obtain root access. That is so you can install Clockworkmod which requires root access to install as it modifies the stock bootloader. You will need to install Clockworkmod and then with clockworkmod you will have to flash the required files to get the Sense 3.0 lockscreen. After you have done that and made sure it works you can get a tool from XDA that lets you put all the settings back to stock. But when you do that the Sense 3.0 lockscreen will stay.
I hope you understand what I mean
Yeah im starting to understand, but how and what am i suppose to flash?

You cann flash that you want....a new rom, a kernel,a theme... And the suposed sense 3.0 that you want for your device..
If you are not fully understand browse for this concepts and read a lot before flashing anything....
EDIT:read about the function of rom manager; of clockworkmod recovery... How to root.... Etc..

Im not sure if the 3.0 lockscreen will work on the stock ROM but its worth having a go. For that you will need 3 or 4 files depending on what you encounter.
If you go to the Android development section there is a thread called Kingdom Lockscreen which is the Sense 3.0 lockscreen. You will need to flash the Sense 3.0 weather funtionality and the Sense 3.0 messaging functionality before the lockscreen.
Before you do anything (but once you have rooted and installed clockworkmod) I recommend that you do a Nandroid backup - A Nandroid backup is a backup that is made from within the Clockworkmod recovery environment that you can access either through ROM manager or by holding down the volume button while the device is turned off and then whilst keeping it held pressing the power button. A Nandroid backup backs up your ROM while its in its working state, all your applications will be backed up. Therefore if anything goes wrong you can just boot into recovery and re-flash the backup. A backup is quite large in size though. My last one was about 700MB so make sure you have enough space on the SD card.
So once you have backed up everything you will need to install the Sense 3.0 weather and restart the phone just to test everything is working. That is because if you install everything at once and it doesnt work its next to impossible to find out what caused the fault. Once you have done that you will need to go back into Clockworkmod and flash the messaging. Again restart and once you see that the messaging works you will need to go back into Clockworkmod to flash the lockscreen.
And that is it. If you encounter any problems while the lockscreen is installed (I had a problem where when I pressed power off the phone restarted instead), you will need to apply the fix which is on page 61 of that thread. That should fix everything.
After that you would just need to unroot. There are some tools for that lurking about the forum somewhere.
EDIT: I would strongly recommend installing a custom ROM as they are just so much better than the rubbish HTC give out. Much faster, more secure and there is much better support in place for them as most people wouldnt expect. If you have a problem with a custom ROM and you post it here, you will get an answer within 15 minutes guaranteed instead of having to wait for HTC for 15 days to answer your email and then find out they didnt answer the question but just said "sorry tough luck".

There are no themes for Fresh 4.2 ROM at this time. This is a pretty much stock ROM with few numerous improvements, so any MOD that is not ROM-specific, but works with the latest GB OTA, should flash fine. Again, you have to make sure these MODs are NOT designed for a specific ROM.
To remove clock from the status bar see this post:

and scroll down to options 6, 7, and 8.

Check out UOT Kitchen for all sorts of customizations you can do yourself without having to write code or mess around with system files. It is fairly easy to learn and use even for a n00b. The only thing you'll need to know is how to use ADB. There're plenty of tutorials on XDA for that...

An ruu will give you a completely stock phone and in 9/10 cases will fix all software faults, if your still experiencing touchscreen problems after running an ruu then it could be a hardware fault and you may need a new digitiser.
