Is there something about this version of android that makes it almost themeless? Or is it just a lack of themers?

Pretty much this. Gingerbread and previous were, frankly, not very good looking. ICS is very well designed and thought out (though there are definitely inconsistencies in styles between apps, still).
Well I agree it is very well designed, but the colors could get rather boring. It would be nice to switch it out.

There are lots of themes for the Nexus, although their UI was very well thought out to begin with.

This has been discussed a few times. I am near certain of it. It is extremely difficult but not impossible to port over a different UI to a phone. Whether you are talking Samsung Galaxy to Samsung Nexus or Sony to HTC. There are certain things in those phones that run the custom UI. Most projects get abandoned fairly quickly. Your best bet would be to flash a custom from like cm10 and find a theme for it. There are some launchers that can give you the feel of touchwiz. I am pretty sure I even stumbled across one in the themes/apps section.

Don't see why not?
We got sense running, not sure what Sony port but a Sony xperia rom, why not touchwiz? Alton, it was a port but it was half/half of touchwiz. Cm9/Touchwiz I looked at the framework etc way back when it first came to the incredible.
If we can't get a straight port why not do a half half?
Food for thought..

Just posting a question as I want to know and hear if anyone is even contemplating on making a switch? I'm no iPhone fanboy and think the Samsung Galaxy S 3 surpasses the iPhone 5 on many levels. :good:
Edit: The title states Samsung Galaxy S II but I meant III
I am but i will keep my sg3 as well as my one x.

I won't be switching to the iPhone 5 because I love T-Mobile, I love tinkering with Android, and because I love my SIII.
However, everyone keeps going on about how it looks the same as the 4s and I just can't agree with this. Yes, the front looks the same (just longer) but they really have updated the features that I hated about the 4/4s. For example, I thought it was ridiculous that they made the back of the 4 and 4s glass. It looked lame and was just one more piece to easily break. I also didn't like the silver bezel (not a fan of it on the SIII either).
Now that the bezel is black and the back of the phone is no longer glass, I am actually a fan of it. I especially like that it is a bit thinner than the 4/4s and skinnier than the SIII.
If I was a big iTunes user, needed my phone to seamlessly work with my Macbook Pro (Android sucks at this), and enjoyed the simplicity of IOS I would probably get it. But I'm definitely sticking with Android. The SIII is the most solid phone I've ever owned.
Apple says the gs3 basically is an iPhoneso I got the best iPhone already

True that the SGS 3 might be like the iPhone 5, but I would take the SGS 3 over the 5 any day. The only nice thing I like about the 5 is the aluminum body and how solid it feels (if its anything like the 4). Other than that, they can have it

Ya I believe I've seen one like that as well...I did a bit of research on this and found some reasons as to why there isn't. After awhile no matter what phone I have I always wanna switch it up when it comes to the UI lol. I love pure Google a lot. But missing some of the sense features n all.

Heard about this today and definitely caught my eye. Still at least a year from a factory device but I did see that they will be planning on releasing this on the nexus and seeing as the s3 is one of the largest selling devices I can see the international version receiving this and hopefully our device
Will be keeping an eye on the development of this for sure.

Is already going to be released for the galaxy nexus and supposedly it will be available for any equivalent or better android phone at side point. Even if it isn't official I can see a developer porting this.

Definitely giving this a try as soon as it's available on the gs3. I think once you get used to it you would never want to switch back. Looks like it makes great use of the screen.

Looks amazing, but seems sort of redundant. Why not just team with Google and implement this as a redesign for Android? Or implement it in a similar fashion to CM10.

Here is a more in depth look which shows you some flaws which were pointed out on another forum
"Seriously, no one wants to do that kind of multi-directional swipe. That ignores the fact that the guy demonstrating can't read the text under his finger. And if he used his left hand he wouldn't be able to see the icon."

That's my thoughts if this one dies. As long as the HDMI converter works on them. Haven't researched it yet though.

That galaxy 7" my mom picked to replace hers is doing nicely, I'm not sure it's a huge improvement but it runs well enough and probably lower in price now then it was a few months ago, especially with the first gen n7 coming down to $200 for 32gb. The screen alone would make it a better device then the a100 if nothing else.
OK. Asus memo pad. Its like $100 right now, and it has like a 5340ma battery, I'm all about that! Reportedly they're gonna come out with a new one for $150 though, and the Samsung one has an ir blaster built in, and multiwindow, and since it Samsung there should be a strong development forum to fallback on. Tough call.

Those look good but I'm not too concerned with the root ability ofy tablet, I'm more concerned on what it can do and if its smooth. If I go with the Samsung I'll want to mod the multi window so I can use any app with it though.
