Excuse me,
Any people try to use the Wi-Fi Internet sharing with other carrier's SIM card? Any limit or need to unlock ?
It will not work. It is hardcoded internally to check AT&T account for tethering plan.

The sim card that is required for our devices to be able to use wifi calling is labeled with a TM9177 (newer sim card) so if you have a TM9073 (older sim card) you need to update that at your local T-Mobile store. it didnt cost me anything. they replaced it with no problems at all.

I've been seeing a major bug lately with WiFi calling. Sometimes (seemingly at random, though always when I am trying to connect to a WiFi after being connected to cell network) the icon will turn RED and give me the dreaded SIM error. Generally this is fixable with a reboot. So if you have a TM9177 SIM and for some reason you are getting the SIM Error code then try a reboot first.
Of course if you have an older SIM then yes, you need to get a new SIM. Call TMO first and tell them to put a note on your account that you are able to receive a free SIM. Otherwise some of the more A-Holeish stores may try and charge you 20 dollars.
No problem so far with wifi calling on my phone.
just goto your local t-mobile store and tell them to change your old card for a new one. they know what to do. and it's free.

Curiosity....what ROM are you using? I wonder if the wifi calling bugs I'm seeing are a ROM issue...
Thank you guys, I will call them first in head of time and then go to the mall. Thank you all!

My cell phone is Lumia 900~ :silly:
If your Lumia 900 is unlocked and you can make calls using other sim cards then the way to enable internet sharing is to reset your device, or reflash would be better, but resetting should be okay... After resetting or reflashing check internet sharing, it should work. To keep it working, do not install Nokia Network Setup app....
This will trigger the call AT&T message. One big drawback to this is MMS will probably not work properly, if it works at all.

this method it doesn't work for me... Another trick?
Dear sir,
Please give me step by step solution for this issue.
4G working fine but hotspot and usb tethering not working in India.
You mean you can't turn on hotspot on the phone? Does your cell company need to add hotspotting to your account?

yes, I mean that. when i tap on Wifi hotspot ON-OFF it says no network or invalid sim. same in usb tethering option. but sim is working fine in 4g network in mobile and internet working fine also in mobile. if still i am unable to make you understand then i can send error screen shot.
Does your carrier have to enable hotspotting? I'm in Canada and some carriers need to turn on the tethering for the account.

No, I am in India and using JIO 4G network - Indian sim (not AT&T) and they don't required to enable hotspotting from their network.

I am too facing this problem with Indian JIO network. Is there a way to enable WiFi Tethering ? Can flashing CM helps overcome this issue ?
Has anyone discovered a workaround for the message "to use mobile hotspot you will need to subscribe to a hotspot service"? I have unlimited data on this line and I would like to use it. Thanks a ton!

That will depend on your carrier. Have you tried the USB route?
Carrier is Verizon. Was hoping not to use USB. Any idea if root / unlocked android will fix the issue?
Try pda net. Some carriers in their infinite power to be an ass block it on the play store. But pda net devs don't give a **** and put it on their website.

What about with T-Mobile? Ever since switching from Sprint SIM to T-Mobile SIM, adding ",dun" to APN doesn't work anymore. Currently using S8+ on Android 9, if that matters

I don't know about T-mobile. I'm on Verizon. I get 25GB of hotspot data with my plan.

Rooting won't help and it's probably not worth the effort. I've used PDANet back when I had my original Verizon unlimited plan. I could connect via USB.
I used to flash the U1 firmware to bypass this when I had a plan that didn't support mobile Hotspot. Before that I used PDAnet for usb tethering or even a different APN setting to prevent blocking.
I have a Samsung Galaxy fold z3 unlocked with a cricket plan I am trying to get my hotspot unlocked it's restricted need help
You don't say whether you have a carrier locked device or if it's unlocked.
But I suspect that this is not controllable on your device. It's more likely that your carrier restricts Hotspot usage by their policy. Why not check the rules for your plan?
Just because your device is unlocked, the carrier may not allow hotspot using their sim. So I'd call the carrier.

Ok, so you have hotspot and it's not working. Have you tried to call Cricket to see what's going on? That would be my FIRST step before coming here.
Once you do that, let us know what they did/said and then maybe we can help more.
