[Q] Where can i find Stock 4.0.4 - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Where can i find a really stock 4.0.4, only with root and flashable with clockworkmod?
I was using the rom on the link below, but the dev startd to mess with colours and battery mods so this is a no go for me since i really want a stock 4.0.4 with root and a custom recovery
link from the rom i was using: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1582516
Sorry for my bad english

Just flash the google images, and download cwm recovery, after you've flashed the google images flash recovery and then download SU.zip and install it via recovery. Its very easy, its how I did it but I'm back to custom now

Nexusshacks.com (google it, that may not be the exact URL) you should be able to find it there. Sorry I can't walk you through right now, I'm very busy. When I get home I will look for a good video or something if you still need help. Nexusshacks has awesome tutorials.

use search
Go to bixie's jb rom thread, he has there linked a supersu+busybox cwm flashable zip, dl that and copy it to the device. Dl also a non-touch cwm image.
Unlock your bootloader, bla bla follow guides on how to set up/use fastboot, BOOT cwm (not flash it) with 'fastboot boot cwm.img', flash that supersu zip, reboot. Done, you rooted jb, install voodoo root keeper or something, back up root. Thats one way how to root a Nexus. You can even relock your bootloader after you finished customizing.

Use bixie's jb ROM, it is already rooted and works paerfectly.
Download this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310
It roots in a couple keystrokes, and allows you to do almost anything else you would want to do effortlessly. It's come in handy through many-a-flash for me.

op asked on how to root through fastboot. If he wanted a custom rom or a toolkit, he probably would have gotten it already.

Thank you,
I was trying an older su.zip and it didn't work but the supersu worked just fine.

ota update issue

Hi guys I'm trying to get my nexus updated to JB. I am on 4.0.4 rooted using the toolkit. I have flashed stock recovery back to the phone using toolkit. I'm getting the attached error. Any ideas anyone?
Thanks
step 1) STOP USING A TOOLKIT!
step 2) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895

Well first of all, I definitely don't recommend you using toolkit. Using it has higher chance of bricking your phone.
It seems like you might have to boot into the clockworkmod recovery and from there, flash the zip. It's faster than the way and also doesn't give you those kind of headache

Hi guys when I say toolkit its the specific gnex toolkit. I thought this was a well received method for rooting - no?
Are you sure you flashed the right stock recovery for your phone?
Ya definitely flashed right stock recovery. It's very easy using the toolkit.

so is fastboot
fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img
I've used the toolkits and fastboot on 3 different gnex's and not had problems either way. If you fastboot incorrectly as well it's possible to brick your phone right?

well yeah if you fastboot the wrong recovery, but if you typo the command, it errors and wont flash it.
The OTA failed not because of your recovery but because of /system/usr/keylayout/generic.kl not being stock or missing.
You can either find that file and push it back and then run the OTA hoping that's the only file you modified.
Or flash the stock JB image following the link Zepius posted in the 2nd post.
I used this thread to help me update to JB when the OTA wasn't showing up for me (I was impatient).

Nope. Odin yes. Fastboot no.
OP: And as El Daddy said you (or one of your root apps) prob changed something related to your keyboard, so you need to replace that file with the stock one.

Hiya - thanks - I browsed to the location and found a generic.kl.bac file - renamed this rebooted and the OTA went through no problems

Returning to stock using a Mac.

Can someone please let me know how to do this. i have search everywhere and no one says anything. they only provide a link but it does not provide step by step nor links to do this. my Gnex is unlocked but not rooted. I would like to go back to stock so that i can update to JB. Thank you in advance.

Well if you're only unlocked, and not rooted, have custom recovery/ROM or anything, you are completely stock. Just unlocked bootloader... OTA has nothing to do with unlocking bootloader. Also root doesn't stop OTAs. Just FYI... Only flashing custom ROM, custom kernel or custom recovery or a change to a system partition stops the OTA.

Anyways, here is the link. Whenever efrant tells you to either "fastboot" or "adb", just put ./ in front of it. That's the command for Mac and Linus

Yes you can use that guide for toroplus (i.e., Sprint) devices as well if you have the images. But since you don't have the userdata image (and therefore you skip that step), you may need to boot CWM and wipe /data and /cache, but only if you experience a bootloop.
So in recovery I have to flash each image? That's the part I don't get.

You cannot flash image files on any recoveries. You need to do those in fastboot mode using command prompt.

Follow the guide. But for the userdata image (which you don't have), boot into recovery and wipe data.

JB OTA won't install- says install untrusted zip? in cwm

I started doing the Google framework force stop and clear cache today while on wifi and was prompted after 5 or 6 tries. It downloaded, verified download, rebooted and TRIED to install. About 15% through, it said untrusted zip and cwm screen popped up top and asked 'install untrusted zip?' Of course I hit yes.. why isn't it trusted? Its straight from the carrier. Anyway it immediately said installation aborted. I repeated this process again and got the same results. Please someone help. Now that JB is finally here my phone won't take it???

If you have CWM flashed, you have to manually flash the update -- it won't install over-the-air. If you want to install it over-the-air, flash back the stock recovery then accept the update.

So either way I will lose all my settings, home screens and what not?
I used Galaxy Nexus Toolkit to do all of my rooting, installing CWM and all-- is there a way to accomplish what I need to on there?

It's exact. But root can only be done if you have bootloader unlocked, and with unlocked bootloader can not install OTA updates

No, updating using an OTA update file will NOT make you lose anything.

Gnex Toolkit wasn't working because of some missing file... re-installed it and flashed the stock recovery via Gnex Toolkit (I think). Is there a way to check which recovery is running? Anyway, if it is indeed stock, I just got prompted again for the OTA JB update.. it's installing now.... fingers crossed!!!
..OK so now it rebooted... started installing, got about halfway through.. paused, then it went to the stock recovery screen and stayed with a red triangle around an exclamation point! What is happening here?!
I have now re-locked the bootloader and received the prompt for OTA again....
Still won't work for me. I've tried even flashing the stock image and it won't install at all. Actually nothing is installing.
I've never done anything to the phone besides unlocking the BL and rooting and switching to CWM. It seems to have something to do with the SD mount.. nut then again I have no idea.
Where's all the Android gurus at?

You have a couple options here. Two that pop into my head immediately are download a custom ROM make sure it is for whatever device you have I.e. maguro, toro, toroplus. Boot into recovery and follow the directions in the ROM thread to install. Or download the stock images for your device and boot into bootloader and fastboot flash those. There are guides everywhere to do this.
Edit: forgot to mention that in recovery if going the ROM route you need to get that ROM. zip onto your SD card. Do it by mounting SD card in storage and adb push the zip to /sdcard.
