Sorry, but I could have sworn that I could turn off the One X from either being alseep, dark screen or from the Lockscreen. Right now the only way to reboot or shut down is unlocked.
Is this correct??
Thanks
hold down power button for 5-7 sec, message will appear stating continue hold power button to rebbot or something like that

So, i dropped it in the toilet, and afterwards its been acting.... weird.
When i hold the button down the power button, well, takes a screenshot. I cant turn it off unless its and it doesn't ask me to turn it off, or restart, or whatever it used to say.
when i lightly activate the power button, nothing happens.
the volume down also takes a screenshot, separately. so say i can hold the volume down, it takes one, and then i hold down the power without holding the down, it takes another.
ALSO, when the tablet is plugged into anything, it turns on. I cannot turn it off with adb restart -p, as it just turns off then turns back on from the usb.
Yes it is useable, but its very annoying as fast boot requires a powered down kindle.
Im probably missing something, so feel free to ask questions
hi
i recently updated the firmware on my device and when i rebooted it, it didn't go into fast boot. I have tried holding the power button for 30 secs to 1 min but the strange thing is, i am able to change the volume and at one point I could tap the screen and hear keypad noises. i can also access the storage on my computer.
any ideas to exit this?
thanks
Try holding power button and volume up for about 30 seconds or so. When the screen goes dark to reboot, let go of those buttons and just hold volume down. Don't let go until the bootloader screen appears.
If it didn't work, it means you either pressed vol down too late, or let go of it too early. Just try again.
This usually works when folks have issues getting into bootloader.
I fixed it by holding the power button in then pressing the screen. I guess I hit shutdown
like i say in name phone alone unlock display or lock it like power buton is jamed or pressing evry 10 sec, and than say if you want turn off phone press power button +volume up+volume down for 10 sec.and affter that it is same. so is this software bug or it is like i say buton is stuck
Sounds like a stuck button.

Hey, so I was messing around with my phone and using TWRP, I deleted the original ROM and then, having forgotten that I'd deleted the ROM, tried to reboot the phone. My phone is now stuck on the HTC splash screen (which at the bottom has the text "This build is for development purposes only...") and won't turn off, despite me holding the power button for probably 1+ minutes. I'm planning to wait until the battery dies, then once I can boot again try to get into TWRP by holding the power button and volume down. Does anyone know if there's a way I can get to TWRP without having to wait until the battery dies (my phone is at full charge), or whether this will not work and I should try something else?
Thanks in advance!
Press and hold power & volume up buttons until the screen turn black then release both buttons and quickly press & hold volume down button only. This will get you to hboot

Thanks this worked!
Hi,
My Pixel 6 Pro screen went black, but I can still hear and feel that the phone is working. I used the volume up + power button to reboot it and now I touch the phone and I feel it vibrate as it's registering the touches. I also see at the bottom of the screen some white stripes flashing. It seems that the screen is damaged and I need a replacement screen.
Now my issue is that I can't seem to turn it off. As the screen is black, the only way to shut it down would be with hardware keys. But up until now, I haven't been able to figure out a way to turn the phone off.
Does anyone know how I can turn of the phone?
To replace the screen, obviously I need to turn it off first...
Usually long pressing the power button, but it may be different. As long as it gets fixed within a month or so it you can let it discharge until it auto shuts down. If more than a year old replacing the battery when repaired is a good idea anyway...
I tried long pressing the power button with no luck.
I tried volume down + power button for 20 seconds, didn't work either.
I tried volume up + power button for 20 seconds, this I think reboots the phone.

Power button only might take 20 or so seconds.
Otherwise just like it sit until repaired.
Power button + vol up + vol down. Keep holding down once you feel the phone vibrate. Takes you to the bootloader screen
The battery died.. so that's good!
Thanks anyways
