Weird Thing About ICS's Touch Response for ARC - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
I Flashed Offical ICS Release for Xperia ARC S to my Xperia ARC, like many of us.
After few hours of usage.
I noticed, sometimes my ARC can't response properly to my touch.
Like, i try swipe left from home screen it swipe back itself.
it is also happening when im using Browser (Any Browser)
Sometimes, It's doing weird things after i touch it.
(BTW I checked my all other fingers and they are not touching to the screen )
And i remember, Xperia ARC's and ARC S's display drivers are different.
Is it driver related problem ?
Or is it just me seeing weird things
If it is driver related, will it be fixed when Offical ICS for Xperia ARC released ?
Thank you for reading.
Sorry for my English.
Best Regards.

try restarting your phone...my phone does that kind of thing sometimes while charging..

I restarted it a lot
Thank you for your answer.

i have this issue playing temple run on ics.......swipe to tuen and i jump!

Hm..
So maybe it is Driver related like i thought ?
Thank you for answer.

have you tried selecting in developer options "pointer location". Does it shows you something wrong with the touchscreen?

Are you running the ICS Arc S firmware on the vanilla Arc (LT15)?
If so, that may be it. I remember reading from Sony stating that there is a minor difference in screen (hardware/software...cannot remember which) when comparing the Arc S to the original Arc.
That could explain why Arc users may be experiencing a little touch delay when running the official Arc S ICS Rom.

The same problem on Xperia Ray ST18i too..

Yep...weird responses even if I didnt select them.
Especially in games.

AFAIK Sony did mention that you would experience lag on ICS as it requires a bit largers specs than the Xperia 2011 devices. Honestly I would expect these kind of situations specially this was the initial release.

If so, is there some possibility that some DEV could get the drivers from a LT15a/i to get implemented?

Yupp, This Thing Happens with me When I'm Playing Temple Run
Althouth In Normal Usage, It doesnt.

Anybody tried this : [ICSbeta] finally a responsive touchscreen + battery life *try this* : UPDATED 4/7/12 ??
Also add this line to build.prop:
Code:
ro.max.fling_velocity=4000

I have the same problem with Temple Run (Arc S) on the final ICS release.
I also occasionally open a game like Angry Birds, Frisbee, etc. and the touch controls just don't work at all. Other apps are fine (Draw Something for example). Sometimes a reboot fixes it - sometimes I have to power off/on.
It's driving me nuts.

I also have the same issue with Tempe run on ICS.

Yeah, I confirm it too. Happens in all ICS roms I've tried; CM9, JJ's 1.1, Arconium ICS 1.0 etc.
Temple Run is unplayable, what a shame.

I'm using ICS official, touch screen is not what is used to be on GB.
What a shame Sony

Single touch responsiveness is just as good as GB over here.
Simultaneous dual touch (tapping two fingers at the same time) on the other hand, is a different story. Most of the time it only registers the first touch and the second touch is slightly late.

Not really happy because..

Ehi guys!
I hope to write in a good english, because i'm italian.
I have an Xperia Arc and i'm not so Happy about it.
I'm going to explain why :
Before receiving this Arc, I had a htc hd2.
I was pretty happy, I had no problems whatsoever.
But now, with this Arc'm having a relationship not too happy because it is slow!
I installed several rom, The Arconium ics V5, V8 the ginger, the SEMC and other.
But I always have the same problem, as I listen to music, the phone slows down significantly, and if I try to run 3 apps simultaneously as WhatsApp, Music, Browser, the phone lags and becomes UNUSABLE.
If I get a call it, the screen remains black and I can not answer.
Well, maybe it's a ram problem?
Becomes really impossible to use, slow and I have to restart the phone.
also with the supercharger, is not good.
the phone has no hardware problems, so do not know what to think ..
If any of you could give me his opinion, I would be happy.
Thanks, I hope I was understandable.
What can I say, apparently HTC's programmers are far better than SONY's. I have my Arc S and I'm not fully happy with it either.
Ive never had a problem like that.
Are you using the latest software provided by sony ?
Tried overclock ?
From my sexy LT15i
Try V6 Supercharger
Sell it and buy another phone
Mine runs ok, not good but ok, looking forward to S III

then try something which is not stock
i was on CM7 the experience was quite good
now on ICS beta.. waiting CM9
i'm an arc user, installed the latest fw (4.0.2.a.0.62).
everything is stock. got around 130mb free ram on idle.
i have no problem doing wifi+music+facebook/download or 3g+music+browser(m.facebook). and i do this everyday.
I'm with Squalldua on this. I'm also an Arc user with stock rom / all bloatware remove / more or less changed some initial system apps to what I like and I get great speed and memory usage. I haven't seen lag or slowdown from opening and switching application.
There has to be other underlying issues with what some of your are experiencing. I can listen to music, browse online, facebook opened and gmail and it's running smooth and the music doesn't skip.
The question is what aren't you telling us? Worst case, SELL IT get a new one.
How much apps do you have?
I have ~100 apps and a lot of stuff running, updating and syncing

I had galaxy s before Arc, I liked the Arc more but I miss the super amoled screen.
try oc'ing and supercharging with CM7.2

Touch screen not responsive along the edges

Recently I have started noticing that Touch screen is not responsive on edges of the screen. This is actually annoying while using music players like player pro which has small buttons mainly placed around the edges of the screen. SometimesI have to tap like 2-3 times to register the touch.
Is this a hardware specif or software based problem. And is there anyway to fix this
BTW I'm using official ICS from sony on My Arc S
I want to know this too....
BTJ
I agree, it wasnt like this on GB tho.
Have this on both ICS and Gingerbread. Annoying in games and music players!!!
Skickat från min LT18i via Tapatalk 2
Anyone who has this that have flashed CM9 etc? Does it fix the problem? I have always thought it was hardware-related, sent mine to service but did not help.
Think it's kernel related. I'm on ICS and I'm not facing it with Doom Kernel, but I've faced with ArcKnight and XArc. I'm using Doom Kernel v04 without this problem. Still, I have this problem on Doom Kernel v05. Do some testing and flash different kernels.
The same problem
Anyone got an answer?
additionally, my problem is that I have to press very hard in other places for the touch screen responds

[Q] 2011 Xperia Lineup Update

I Just wondering, will there be a newer firmware for the xperia lineup than 4.1.B.0.431? Becouse in being useable the ICS on the Xperia Pro is quite lame, the facebook calendar sync eat my data traffic, the battery life poor, quadrant on .62 gingerbread is about ~1700 on ICS <1200, no screenshot, the hole graphical interface is a lagged sh*t, flash player is a shame too...
So I just wondering will there be an update wich fix these problems or these problem comeing from the hardware cannot hand the ICS? I have flashed my xperia back to the latest GB but I would be glad to use a sony ICS rom...
The fb calendar sync in GB used to eat data as well. Was a major pain. In the end, I just disabled fb.
I could have dealed with it in the GB firmware but it's not my main problem... it's it speed, it's being so laggy...
4.0.4 is running fine..gr8 improvement from 4.0.3 which was laggy...try scripts to make your phone smooth and fast like Thunderbolt and Supercharger
Now the amazing reveal: you have screen shot on ICS!

That's just deviating from the topic. And moreover, we had screenshot ability in GB 2.3.4 itself.
Hold the power button down and you were presented with a list of options. One of which was screenshot.

[Q] Issues with 3D games

Hello all!
Usually I strut about the Android Development forum only, but I've a question for you Arc (S) owners.
I own an Arc S, and I'm quite ok with it. One thing is bugging me though, and I want to know how you are doing with it to know if it's supposed to be like this or not.
Whenever I run a game such as Corby (great game, bought full content and also worked normally on my old HTC Desire), it goes crazy after a couple of minutes of playing. This happened on stock Gingerbread, stock ICS (though even quicker) and all custom ROMs I tried.
Going crazy here means: not accurately registering touch at all, or not at all, or at random, on and off. The game keeps on running, but the touch input is ignored at most, severed at best.
As Corby has a couple of levels to try for free, and as it's fun enough to play for say 15-30 minutes, I was wondering:
Could any of you perhaps install and play it and let me know how/if it works for you, and what setup you have? With setup I mean:
Phone: Arc / Arc S
ROM: Stock ICS/Stock Gingerbread/Custom, being...
Kernel: Stock ICS/Stock Gingerbread/Custom, being ... with ... governor and ... IO, on clock speeds ... to ...
Game: HD graphics/low graphics (switchable in game settings)
I want to know because if it does run properly for any of you, I'm going to return my phone and get another one back as it's still under warranty for me, though I won't bother the hassle if you all have the issue.
I'd really, really appreciate your help!
Oh, and here's a link to Cordy in Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.silvertree.cordy&hl=nl
Arc, Stock rom (v6 supercharged) & stock kernel (1ghz, deadline), HD graphics - i've played the game for about 10 minutes and i had no problems.
Just do full wipe and reinstall rom with pc companion, changing phone is a bad idea
Questions go in the Q&A section
Works fine, no lag, no errors.
Even with 1 Ghz. Settings: HD, smartassv2, sio

Changing as in replacing my possibly faulty Arc S with a normally working Arc S, a bad idea?
PS: Stock as in Gingerbread or ICS?
Believe me your Arc is not damaged ;p. I'm on gingerbread, on ICS i've got too many performance issues like yours here.
If you mean bugs like holding a button that I am not anymore holding, I have them as well in many games. It's almost like the game freezes, but without the graphics and sound freezing - no input is being registered for a few seconds, but game is "running" normally.
I explained this to myself by assuming it's when the phone runs out of RAM, but not sure..
mando: problem is, I have had it on gingerbread to, both Stock and Arconium...
matus: that's exactly what's happening, although, if my knowledge on Android's memory management is correct, that can't be the cause. If anything the entire game should close, not just the input. Also while you say for a few seconds, with my Arc S it's more: once it's gone it stays gone. Doesn't come back until reboot, and not for long either.
Anyone else got issues like this?

Actually..there is no problem with ics for arc s,
It is fast, and stable for daily use as it is official
But for hard gaming, it is sometimes laggy (but don't worry it is the same in gb)
All i can say is update your phone and amaze yourself for new

haha GB same than ICS for gaming, are u kidding me? GB is and will be the best for gaming + smoothness
If you like gaming stay in GB. In ICS you will have to make tweaks to run them smoothly.
Example (its for Arc but it applies to ArcS too since its a memory issue):
Dungeon Defenders: Second Wave worked ok in GB but on ICS it crashes after a while but when I use a Ram swapper (uses sd for RAM), its ok.
Try those new JB adreno drivers too.

If you like playing all games that can be played on arcs gb than stay on gb.ICS has camera recording issue, laggs.I have flashed 5 times ICS in hope i will find a ROM stable for playing, recording, but i come back to GB.The best in ICS is the UI it's very nice Rom but it's laggy and i don't like laggy.

at the moment, ICS on the arc is still buggy. the firmware has not matured enough not to have glitches. so far, the most annoying things I noticed are the terrible battery life, glitches like unexplained FC, and the network mode bug which resets your preferred mode after reboot. even sotck based custom roms are not immune to these problems since they practically use the same base software
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1983559
I have an Arc lt15i and i recently updated from GB .62 to ICS .587.
I found ICS visually better than GB, but otherwise not too much difference.
Bad points:
- LED notification doesn't work for received SMS
- System/user apps use more memory
- The phone gets damn near hot when downloading thru 3G, watching video, browsing internet.
LED not a bid deal for me. There's a menu in Settings called Developer Options which allows you to control the number of background processes. I set it to no background processes and kept my free memory up around 160-190MB instead of 50-60MB in standard setting. And the heat coming from the back/top-half of the phone was what bothered me, because it felt like it was going to damage the phone from overheating.
Good points:
- Phone Dialer a lot better to use
- Music player controls on lock screen
- Ability to 'disable' system/user apps when they can't be uninstalled.
I just found out today how to downgrade firmware and that's what i've just done. I'm now back to GB .42 and rooted.
In my opinion, try ICS out, cos if you don't like it just flash the old firmware back.
If i can get those 'good points' into GB, i'd be happy.
So long as you're using a custom ROM then ICS should be fine. I found stock ICS to be very laggy.
