Supposedly the best external battery available.

Does this batteries take energy first form mobile phone and then regarge with this attached power source or it just immediately use power from external source? I am asking because I think that the first case would decrease battery cycles of mobile phone so in the end it willdoesnt matter if I have external battery.. I want to spare my built-in battery..
On the other side.. what are you doing when you play games? The mobile phone drains too fast.. is it better to be always on electricity to regarge battery? Somewhere I read that when mobile is fully charged it goes down to 90 % and then to 100% again.. so mobile is still charging and batterz cycles are going down..
Thanks for reply

LED flicking

I was charging my HOX and when I played some game, LED diod was flickering.. So is possible that performance is higher than battery charger? IT would mean that one X will be unable to use for games.
Does your led flickering if you charger battery from 0%?

Game play can cause you to use a lot more power than the charger can handle... It helps that you leave the phone alone to charge it.

My led flickers from red to green rapidly when I'm playing riptide even though there is plenty of battery left, I've not searched the forums for an answer coz it doesn't bother me, I just put it down to possibly being coz the phone gets really hot so maybe it does that when it overheats?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
LED flickers two times related to battery condition.
1. It flickers when the battery temperature is high( above 50 Deg C i think)
2. It flickers when the battery is very low. (Below 5% i think)
Its already discussed a lot in mega thread and other threads that using the phone while charging makes the devcie to heat up fast. Its happening for me even after the latest update.
It is indeed displaying that because its getting toasty.
leave it for a bit unplugged and not playing games and it will be ok
So dont play games.. Dont use it?. Wtf?! This is the solution?

Play games or do graphic intensive tasks after disconnecting devcie from charging, atleast for now till HTC do something in future updates. Or sit in a room heavily airconditioned if you are in hot country like iam
Although I haven't tested it, I think charging may resume even with a warm battery (under 60c) when the battery voltage drops to 3.8V. I had a read through the logcat when my battery was about 53c, and the messages seemed to indicate this.
Code:
I/BATT_ALG( 136): batt_alg_overtemp_check: 450 < temperature(527) <= 600, set slow charging, 4.0V charging stop, 3.8V recharge.
I/BATT_ALG( 136): batt_alg_overtemp_check: 420 < temperature(439) < 450, set slow charging, 4.2 charge full, 4.15 recharge.
I/BATT_ALG( 136): batt_alg_overtemp_check: temperature(412) < 420, set normal charging.
yes don't play quad/gpu heavy games on the charger, simple
battery overheard bad when its low plus WiFi

[Q] Bigger Capacity Battery Percentages

Hi!
So, a few weeks ago I purchased the OEM HTC Incredible S battery for my Desire Z (Perfect fit, adds 150mAh capacity).
I did a battery stats reset when I installed the battery, but something strange happens with my battery percentage. It shows 100% remaining for about 2 hours after running on battery, even when making use of the phone. And, when charging, it takes little time to get to 99%, but takes extremely long to reach 100%.
So it seems that the extra capacity isn't being fitted in to the battery stats correctly, it's as if the extra 150mAh hasn't been averaged in to the battery stats, but rather just added to the top at 99%...
Does that make any sense? Am I missing something here?

It's normal for me..99% is always take much longer (30-45min) to charge compare to 20-50% it's fast

when charging... its temperature is around 35 celcius and when playing games.. it goes 40-45 celcius

What ROM are you using? Maybe the ROM who are using still has bugs that disabled CPU deep-sleep. Flash the custom ROM again or find another one to use.

Mate. Non-stop charging your battery doesn't kill your battery too much. It have extremely slight effect because smartphones can stop the charges from coming in when its full. Unless you charge it for like 2 straight days, then it might matter a bit. Or excessly game when you charge and the temperature goes up too high for too long.
And most importantly, The battery getting fat DOES NOT make the phone heavier.

BTW my battery gets fatter. what does it means? ( i notice when i pull out the battery and put it back again. coz it wont fit on my phone... by the way.
should i always charge my battery up to 99% so it wont have extremely slight effect ? and also. should i buy new battery ?? i hope there is some 2900 mah xD i saw one but it feels not durable...

btw sir. does bloated battery.... makes battery life worst? i mean is. if you have bloated battery. you must buy a new one? and also. does usb charging is bad ?
yep,, at 100%,, after an hour or two,, it drastically drops to 50% even when not using,,, and when i use it,, after 5-10 min hard gaming,,, it went off,,,,
so i've had no choice but to buy a new one,,,
btw,,
not that sure though,, conventional chargers,, the one that comes with the phone,,, has a voltage limiter,, which means,, it limits the voltage that charges the battery,,, while usb chargers,,, they dont have them,,,,

How to properly charge Galaxy Note 2?
Do you let it charge overnight no matter what the battery percentage is? Do you let it go down to 40%-50% and then charge it? Maybe 10%-15% and then charge it? Can you somehow damage the battery if you leave it on the charger longer than you should to?
Thanks in advance guys!

Google is your friend here. As a rule you should try to keep your device between 25% and 70% charge to get a long life out of the battery.

How to charge:
Plug in phone whenever you want.
Charge multiple times at whatever power levels.
Unplug whenever you want.
Enjoy life.
My batteries last a year using my patented "I don't give a F" method, so it's not worth stressing over "OMG I AM CHARGING ABOVE/BELOW X PERCENTAGE!!!!!111ONEONE" Replacement batteries are cheap and easy to come by, a year is a reasonable lifespan and not stressing over it is priceless.
However, if you feel the need to freak right the heck out over your battery, just do it over there in the corner where I can't see/hear you.

This advice is for battery lifetime, not battery performance. Quote from wikipedia:
A Standard (Cobalt) Li-ion cell that is full most of the time at 25 °C (77 °F) irreversibly loses approximately 20% capacity per year.[citation needed] Poor ventilation may increase temperatures, further shortening battery life. Loss rates vary by temperature: 6% loss at 0 °C (32 °F), 20% at 25 °C (77 °F), and 35% at 40 °C (104 °F).
When stored at 40%–60% charge level, the capacity loss is reduced to 2%, 4%, and 15%, respectively.[citation needed] In contrast, the calendar life of LiFePO4 cells is not affected by being kept at a high state of charge.[47]

Well it wouldn't exactly be full most of the time now would it
I won't deny that the maintaining a charge between 40-60% may prolong battery lifetime but the benefit of having A full battery at the beginning of everyday easily outweighs the "potential" loss of 20% battery capacity after a year. Also the hassle of maintaining a battery percentage between those limits is simply not worth it.
A new battery goes for as little as $6 here in Australia. IF there is any noticeable decrease in battery life (eg. From a loss of max capacity) then a new battery is cost basically nothing.
I charge all my devices over night if the percentage is lower than 85% and all of them still last just as long as the day I got them.

I mean seriously, why on earth people think too much about charging, when to charge and all, if my battery will be damaged or not, this isn't a phone of 1995! And there is no harm done if you charge overnight.
I've used all my phones like this and never had a problem with battery, not the slightest, however I don't use any phone for more than 18 months.

Just charge it when it need to be charged lol
There isn't magic tricks to charge it, and obviously you can charge the phone to 100%
Charging a lithium battery to a lower voltage can increase the overall cell cycle life at the expense of capacity. At 4.2v you may get 300-500 full cycles before you start seeing noticable degradation where at 4.1v you may get 600-1000. But the effort to track that and stop charging I think is negated by the fact this phone has such high capacity vs it's usage that even if it's degradated - you will still have a good run time!
With that being said - with root or a custom ROM - you may be able to set a lower charge termination voltage like on some Sony phones had an option for - but I don't know the details of how to do that.
For more info check: http://batteryuniversity.com/index.php/learn/article/charging_lithium_ion_batteries
I almost always charge from PC/laptop using regular USB port which can provide up to 500 mA. Usually when I see that is getting close to 40%. And often not charging over 80 but that depends do I need the phone for longer period or just forgot to disconnect. Fast charging in general is not healthy for battery, mainly because of heat produced.
On another hand, most probably battery life is longer than phone's. Just because phones are getting obsolete...
