[Q] FLAC in GB stock rom - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

can stock rom play FLAC files? (fw 62) GB
was using ICS stock rom, all my FLAC scanned and played smoothly...
but ICS lack of clearbass mod and laggy UI, so i back to GB
someone can port the FLAC codec to GB?
sorry for bad english

I think you'd be better off downloading another music player from the market (Most of them support FLAC).

but another player bad in DSP
poweramp plays flac, but sound like lossy mp3
tried another player, but not good as stock

[Q] FLAC support in Gingerbread?

Does Gingerbread have native support for FLAC playback?
Currently OpenDesire seem to support certain FLACs and players like Andless and Meridian support all FLACs.
But its best if Android itself has native FLAC support.
Hi guys, just to confirm whether GB / CM7 support 24 bits flac format? I have an album in 24 bits flac, can't be played in stock music player of CM7.2.1.8 + aNa kernel. I have to download and play with Meridian player!
Gingerbread does not have native support for FLAC playback. some custom roms do have.
as mentioned before some apps support flac playback. i can recommand poweramp music player. works fine ;-)
+1 for power amp

VLC is pretty great for being an alpha. Stock player is still the best though.
Nothing beats stock player atm. I'm on CM7, so I don't have the flawless Samsung player, hence I also need a replacement. The best I've got so far is mobo player, however it can't handle HD videos that well. There's also Rock player, but to me it seemed even worse than Mobo player. I've also gave VLC player a try, but in this alpha stage it's unusable; it has lower than 1 FPS on HD videos. So, I'm waiting for improvements on either of them.
I use QQPlayer for playing RMVB files. Super I should say
Vplayer, all the way.

Multi audio track in single file.
Single MKV/MP4 file may have 2 or more audio track.
some players like dice,mx can choose audio track.
Ohk. Thanks

There seems to be 2 Mobo players on the market. The original one, and a "newer" one. No idea if the newer one is legit or notably different.
Generally, there is very little the stock player won't handle, if you find something then Mobo seems to be able to deal with it.
My Samsung Galaxy s2 Stock Media Player dosent play ac3 Audio files or Mp4 Files with Ac3 audio decoded. I was able to play those using Dice player or rockplayer. But i dont have an option called 5.1 to enable on those players unlinke stock player.
The official Samsung Site or other specification gives the specification (This is from wikipedia)
For audio it supports (FLAC, WAV, Vorbis, MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA, AMR-NB, AMR-WB, MID, AC3, XMF). For video formats and codecs it supports (MPEG-4, H.264, H.263, DivX HD/XviD, VC-1) and video formats (3GP (MPEG-4), WMV (ASF) as well as AVI (DivX)).
Issues:
1. Stock Media Player dosent play ac3 Audio files or Mp4 FIles with Ac3 audio decoded (Stock Media Player gives the Option 5.1 to be enabled but ac3 not playing)
2. Other players play it Under software decoding, But main Problem is 5.1 isn't working with Head phones
I googled and found some Users were able to Play it with stock media Players. Read something like "I dont have any problem playing those files, I just copy and play them"
I am now confused is this happeneing with my device alone, So guys how do you dea this?
Please reply so that i would be grateful to you guys
Until someone makes video codec for the sg2 Mali gpu, no software codec will be able to handle high res video better than the stock video player, or lower res video with the same battery efficiency.
That being said, audio decoding and subtitle handling don't need that horsepower, and more and more players mix stock decoder hardware features for the video part and software management for the rest.

Something is wrong or missing, can't really give you an answer because I never seen that happen before. Should give more info about the file your trying to play.
Besides that, why not just stick to the 3rd party apps. I stop using stock since it barely plays anything correctly compared to both MX and Dice player anymore. Or is that 5.1 sound effect really that necessary to you?

[Q] Music Player recommendation

hi, i'm looking for a music player for my desire hd running on rcmix. becuase the stock music player keeps on detecting my ringtones as music. i want a music player that i can set the file size limit that would be detected as music, just like the miui music player. can anyone of you recommend ? sorry for bad english
Take a look at PowerAmp on the Android market - there's a free trial version, but it's well worth paying for the unlocker. Don't think it lets you filter ringtones the way you describe, by setting a filesize limit, but you can tell it to ignore specific folders when updating its library.
+1 for Power Amp. Great app.

Yep I use Poweramp. Not sure about the file size though.
thanks for the reply guys, i will buy the app =)

hmm...
There is a music player from the MIUI Rom - now available for all devices...
It might do what you want to...
download it from here
Music Player
MIUI Player is really nice but it craps the albumarts etc. in PlayerPro you can quickly let do and search up the albumarts and you can select the right one yourself and ofcourse also letting him do it automaticaly. PlayerPro also has many skins you can download , The new stock player from ICS is also and really good one. So my recommadations are:
1. PlayerPro
2 MIUI Player
3. ICS Stock Music Player
Definitely you should get poweramp or playerpro with the dsppack, they're both awesome anyway

CM7 music player app?

I recently changed my rom to the BCM CM9 rom and it works great. But the music player (apollo) is in my opinion inferior to the cm7 music player. I am currently using player pro but even that seems to lack something when compared to the cm7 music player. The cm7 music player is the best I've come across and I wish to use it on this CM9 based rom. My question is can I do that and how? Is it as simple as installing an apk or flashing a zip?
