You are not supposed to install the application, just copy and paste, then change permissions, and reboot and you will be able to use the widget.

Sounds like he isn't installing it but in fact doing it the way you suggest. OP, have you tried changing owner to root (both settings)?
Root explorer: long press app in system/app -> scroll down to change owner-> change both to root -> reboot.

never thought about that just changed them to root,
set permissions, reboot, but still not showing.

Also, fixing permissions in CWM should do this for you ...
The other thing, What is the widget, from what phone/ROM , know you said Stock weather, but if it is stock GB weather,
I am sure it relies on the GB TW-framework for the TWlaucher as the stock widget from samsung phones is a TW widget .....
Some widgets rely on framework or launcher items, and may not work on every phone/launcher ...

[Q] I want some apps back

Hi, Im currently using Bobaridier v1.3 but when i changed from 1.2 to 1.3 the developer removed the original email app along with googles and also removed the Microbes live wallpaper which i love.
I would like to know if there is a way for me to extract those apps from the old 1.2V. I tried restoring the Microbes wallpaper with TB but it failed. I also tries installing a dump from the nexus and it gives me a parsing package error.
Like i said id like the original email app from samsung since i hate the AOSP looks and interface.. Thanks
I think i will be going back to v1.2 and then trying to see if i can do a backup of the email app and restore it in v1.3 if not is there any good apps for email that have a similarity to the stock app? I hate the grey color in this AOSP.
I used to get the errors installing MicrobesLWP. easiest way to get it installed is just push to the apps folder.
Actually pushing everything to the right apps folder always worked for me.
Edit;
http://db.tt/6S1mZ48U (email.apk)
http://db.tt/cTF3DoJP (Microbesgl.apk)
Move those with root explorer or somesuch to /system/app should work

[Q] Can i push apps on stock rom ??

I have a question, im on stock rom dxlc1 and.. i wanna change my messaging app to GoSMS app.
Messaging.apk to Gosms.apk
Also the launcher too. TouchwizLauncher.apk to GoLauncherEx.Apk ??
Like i replace it. it is possible?
What do you mean seperately?
i just want to replace the stock one. can i ?
you can install them as usual then set them as default app. done. you don't need to push them into system. if you want to add them as system app you can use root explorer, copy the apk to /system/app, change the permission to rw-r--r--, reboot. make sure that you have rooted your phone and you have enough memory space before doing this.
So ican change my stock messaging app to go sms app like a default app? ang my launcher too? Thanks! do i need to rename it? Wait, when im asked to replace the current apk. i tap yes??
yes but requires root
ok... for this purpose you need to download an app called link2sd..
first, you must root your phone...
then install link2sd and grant ir SU permissions
once done open link to sd and search for your app (GoSmsPro or launcher)
tap on it..
go to actions-->make system app..
then search for your default android home app..
make it user app and uninstall it
same with gosmspro and you are done
Use ROM Toolbox
You can use ROM Toolbox Pro and uninstall the required all and make your app as the System App.. so it gets pushed as a System App

Do not replace the system apks..
just press home button, It'll ask you which app to use.. check on use always/default(dont remember exactly ) and tap on go launcher.
For messenger simply tap the messenger icon on ur home screen and do the same.. else u can use the alternative sms app to silent the native one..
No need to remove the apps, Please keep them as they might come in handy once you decide to remove the launcher and msg apps or they just get screwed.

if you replace the TouchWizLauncher.apk to GoLauncher.apk it's just the same...
when you press the Task Manager then they can see Go Launcher in Active application section, not like TouchWiz ... it doesn't show you to the active application...
Better install it normally ...
hope you understand what i mean & sorry broken english coz i'm Indonesian...

Well i cant freeze the launcher..
Well my phone is rooted..
it doesn't matter if your launcher is stock or not. the app will be loaded in ram as 'active app'. if you don't use it for a while it will dissapear automaticly and stored in ram's cache. don't freeze you twlauncher if you doesn't have other launcher in /system/app. your rom may not work if you wipe your /data.
just see to it that when you freeze the default launcher,
you don't forget to enable your secondary launcher first

ICS People App

I've looked everywhere that I can think of, or but can find what I'm looking for, and so here goes.
I was wondering if there is an apk available for the ICS Peoe app?

Using root explorer, it's x x, x, x from top down. Use your file manager to check permissions on another app and use the same.

And then?
What do I do after setting permissions & moving to /system/app? I can't find any way to open it, and it still won't install ("Parsing Error")
Thanks!
You reboot your phone and it should replace the stock app.
I followed the instructions.
1. Copy Contact.apk inside system/app
2. Changed permission to rw-r-r which is same for other apps
3. Rebooted, I see get my xperia stock contacts.
I am sure I missed something, when I try to install from system/app it does not install.

Great, but some how I can't find the default contact.apk to replace
Perhaps my mistake, using Xperia Pureness rom, possibly its moved somewhere else.
Look in the themes and apps section, I've uploaded the apps folder for situations like this.
Sent from my Phone.
Okay I found out that this rom is using PhoneBook.apk for contacts.
I tried removing PhoneBook.apk and keeping just Contacts.apk reboot
Renamed Contacts to PhoneBook reboot
But in vain.
Permissions are same.
Now restored PhoneBook.apk until I find a solution to get Contacts.apk to run.

binding wigets?

after i installed the latest version of my rom (infamous 2.8.5) i noticed it didnt have touchwiz launcher so i installed it from an apk i found here.
the only problem im having with it is there are certain widgets that i cant add to the homescreen.
every time i try it tells me 'not installed with permission to add binding widgets' (not verbatim)
i tried to install widgets from the play store they dont work either..i mostly tried clock widgets
any suggestions?
thanks.
Infamous should have touchwiz I would try re downloading the rom and reflashing could have been a bad download

Have you tried pushing into system? If you want a simple way of convert an apk into a system file, long press it in titanium, choose "convert into system file ". Older versions of apex use to have this problem. Pushing it into system solves it.

You can copy paste into system/apps and fix permissions then reboot. Just change them to the same as all the other apk's in the folder. But if it says donation version needed, I don't think I'll work

What are the permissions to be set at? I pushed this and the stock file manager to system apps, fixed permissions via recovery, but neither work. When I use Root Explorer to check the apks they show different permissions from all the other system apps. MusicPlayer and SecNoteMyFiles show rwxrwxr-x while the other apks show rw-r-r-- I guess I need to manually change them?
EDIT - Actually what happens is they don't show in the app drawer, so I tried to install them from the system app folder, but I keep getting an error "Application not installed".

No go for me. They just don't want to work. I don't know why. I was on the stock ROM via ODIN. Everything worked. I pulled five apks from the system app folder. Three of them work, but the MusicPlayer and FileManager don't. I tried them both ways. I left the permissions as is, rebooted, and nothing. I did what you said, and still nothing. Got me. I'm running Jedi Mind Trick JB 3.

First I want to thank you, and say sorry for making you help me so much, as I'm now realizing it would have worked if I just used your version from the beginning. I've been trying to get the one I pulled from my stock ROM when I was running it. It seems my APK is not the right one. Yours worked the very first time. It's also bigger than mine by about a MB. Where did you pull it from? I pulled mine directly from the system/app folder.
Also since mine didn't work for this, or my File Manager APK, would it be possible for you to share that too? Or tell me where to get it? Thanks again.
