Hi,
I've noticed that my wall charger makes noise, like a bee, especially when I'm using the touchscreen... If I put my ear near the charger and then I start moving my finger on the screen, it starts making noise... Maybe it is something related to the power consumption of the phone, that is increased when I'm using it, I just wanted to know if it happens also to you..

I believe it is a charger fault. Send for warranty.

Same here, Charger sounds like one or two fighting bees, horrible!
The charger sounds like its arcing, get it replaced asap.
I have it too, charging also takes quite long (up to 3-4 hours from 15% to full). Is that normal?
same here, makes tiny beep sound, but doesnt have to be connected th phone or usb cord. Did talk to repairshop and will get a new one.
I had this issue on my GN charger. I stopped using it immediately and then went back to it and the sound was gone. Can't really tell you why its happening. Might be an input capacitance charging along with a transformer coupling issue that goes away after the cap is charged. All sounds unlikely to me though.

Most chargers are standardised now, should be safe to use any.
Just check the wall plug output voltage and make sure its not higher than the HTC one. My gf got the same problem with her HTC cha cha back then. Tried with my DHD and confirmed it is a wall plug fault.

The apple wall charger has an output of 5.1 V and 2.1 A, while the HTC one has 5 V and 1 A... So if I use the apple wall charger it would charge the phone in far less time, but it could maybe damage the phone battery, or at least reduce its life, right?

Not at all. As long as the voltage is the same (5 and 5.1 are close enough), then the maximum power output is irrelevant. The phone will take what it needs (or what it can). It can do no harm to use the Apple charger. If it charges faster, then great...but I suspect it will be exactly the same amount of time.
Mine is quiet, but it doesnt work. It simply makes the led turning on red, but battery charge value remains stuck at the same percentage.
I've moved to ipad2 charger, 5.1v and 2.3A output, it works fine. I can also quickly charge the one x when attached to my laptop. The strange thing is that the stock charger works with other phones
Any idea?
Thanks

If it charges faster it would be great for me, but not for the battery health, in theory.. the lower the charge rate, the better it is for the battery health, if I understood well what I've read around the net.. btw, tomorrow I will call HTC support and see what they tell me.. I'll keep you informed

Sorry to bump an old thread. I'm having the same issue. Thing is, I have two chargers next to each other for two phones and right now can't reproduce it and don't know which it is. I believe it only happens with my one and not my evo lte. And apparently only when in use while plugged in for awhile. So maybe the draw/demand on battery causes it. Idk. Thanks for confirming it's not something that should be happening. I think I'll just take them both in for replacement. They should see the value of replacing a couple of chargers rather than risking a phone replacement.
These chargers have step down transformer hence the noise. brand new charger will not make noise to very little noise and will start to buzz as it ages. also more you abuse your charger like falling, banging etc. more early noise will come. small amount of noise is ok. but buzzing is loud stop using charger and replace it.
it is advisable to use charger with only 5V 1Amp(1000mA) output. with most of the HTC phones. if you use higher out charger it will eventually damage charging circuit unless there is a over current protection built in.
there is also a possibility of improper/loose contact in wall socket.

So if it's a creaky/fast ticking noise when touching the screen and it's not very loud, it's probably ok? Like I said I couldn't reproduce it right away either so I'm thinking it's only when under a fairly heavy load for a while.

No Ideally it should make any difference whether you touch the screen or not. I think your problem is with loose connection in the wall, if that is not the case then change your charger immediately or use different wall socket.

Hi guys,
I love my HOX, and all the G3 fans can bite me (had to take it out).
Now, my only issue, is when i GPS (Waze/iGo) i need to charge the phone obviously.
but after 20-30-40 minutes the phone show me blinking green-red led, and i understand it stop charging.
Anything to do with this ?
its big issue since its making the GPS kind of unusable for longer trips.
10x,
Chura
Hello, do you use a 1 amp car charger ?
Unless, the only solution i have seen from here is to "fake" the car charger as an AC charger
but i never had to do such thing by chance ... i never use GPS on long travels ...
Looks like some car chargers are seen as USB charger with limited amps ...
Modifying the cable or using another one makes phone believe it's on AC charger
and gets more amps to charge.
I'm aware of it, and i was about to make the change before i noticed the Green-Reg led.
how will it help to increase the Amp if the phone stop charging anyway ?

Red-green led is battery over heat, meaning your battery was at or above 48c. If you're rooted you can limit your phone too two cores which should help keep temps down.
If not then you will have to take breaks from GPS till its sorted by software update. I assume its using more Cpu/cores then needed, only a theory.

Thats basic design, how come HTC didnt get it tested ?!
worth openeing a ticket about it ?
i really hate to say this, but its deal breaker for me.
Does anyone know if the SGS3 have heat issue's also ?
EDIT: Opened ticket with HTC, hopefully for good news with some firmware upgrade or something.
Hi there,
well, it depends a little bit which charger I use but one some I have the bad experience that when I have the phone connected to power the display just goes crazy. Means that as long as the display is turned on it pushed/touches automatically some areas in the display without stopping. So when I want to do something I have to disconnect the mobile first and than I can work with it.
As someone similar experience or knows how to solve it?
Thanks
Stephan
btw. it happens also with different mods
LOL same sh!t happened to me today too.
I moved in another USB slot from PC and seems that issue is gone. But until today I didn't had this issue. Maybe is the polarization +/- from the charger.
Happens to me also with an universal charger. Touchscreen is almost unusable while charging and laying on the table. But seems to work fine if I hold it with my hands (grounding the aluminium body). This happened also with my Motorola Defy with the same charger. But it didn't have any metal components on the outside so it didn't work correctly in the hand either.

Scary
Hehe, first time I saw this was so scary, ghost in the phone.
That should be the charger. I have two non original charges one of then with 1A and the other with less. First of then affects the screen sometime and the other never gave me that issue.
Hope this helps.
Yes. It's because of the voltage fluctuations that the screen starts to react weirdly. The same happens when you use a non-standard AC supply too. Don't keep using that charger and/or USB port for long though.. it will cause damage to your phone screen and more so to the battery.
Yes, specially with blackberry chargers

Got my One X in the post today, plugged it in, been on charge for atleast an hour and a half but it's still dead
No signs of life, no charge light, can't turn on, can't enter bootloader
Anyone experience this?
Also the phone is stone cold, if the battery was charging I would expect it to get warm...

Yeh looks that way so that means no new phone for a week as I have to wait for them to collect it then send me a new one, can't just take it to a store which is stupid
Checked the pogo pins with a volt meter and it's reading 5v no problem so power is getting to the phone it just seems dead. No battery life and it won't turn on

When I got a replacement HOX from carphone warehouse that was dead too, but I left it plugged in for a few hours and it came to life.
If the battery has no charge at all it may seem like a fault.

Charger that came with it but checked dock pins to make sure voltage is present in the phone which it clearly is
Does sound dead sadly, should have some charge if it came new.
Does it get detected as anything by windows even if off?
Any repsonse if you hold down the power button and both volume buttons?
Mine did the same thing when it was fresh out the box. I just left it on sharge for a couple of hours and the charge light then lit and it powered up. The battery was just very flat on arrival.
Did your battery warm up though? This ones cold to the touch
I think it's dead so already called for a replacement but gotta wait for it
In the meantime I will leave it to charge overnight but I'm not hopeful at all, be better if we could access the battery instead of HTC going all apple on us
As I got my hox, it was fully discharged too, and it took ca. 30 minutes to bring it back to life...
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
When I first got mine was at 15% battery, after 24hrs charging (original charger, laptop, Inc s charger...) nothing changed.
Ended up with a replacement but took optus Australia 3 weeks to replace it.
...
Try to change cable I have to do that because stock cable that came with phone is sh..t.One day just stop working. Now using NOKIA CA-101 and no problem at all fantastic build quality. With stock cable had that problem couple times
Even if it does not light right up, the battery should get warmer when charging. Like advised, try a different cable, if that does not work either, then there probably is no simple solution that you can solve on your own.
hey guys!
I ofcourse have an HTC one X from rogers and I have recently acquired the innocell Plus battery case from Seidio.com.
i noticed that after plugging in the USB charger that came with the case into the htc wall adapter (that came with the usb cord for the one x) I have waken up to find the phone not charged and the case fully charged. I also noticed that the charge is very shotty via that connection as the indicator displaying the charge icon within the battery display on the screen will flicker and stop randomly as well. I only tried that connection because I have read online that the phone itself should be charged with the wall charger instead of the PC as the wall provides higher voltages needed to give the phone its maximum charge.
While trying to use the case to charge my phone on the go I have also noticed the same flickering at times with the case shutting off randomly as well. Last night I used the cable that came with the case in the USB port of my computer to charge my phone and case at the same time. This charged up my phone and case as normal. My concern now is that USB charging the phone itself will cause either limit its maximum charge capacity or slowly ruin the battery altogether. My other concern is that the flickering of the phone icon dude to the stop and go charging will ruin my phones charge capacity.
Any help is appreciated! and also, was there something I was supposed to do with the case at the beginning for those of you that use one?
thanks!

anyone have the same problem ?
before i use this rom (running stock rom) i also have this problem.
I feel like it takes the phone a little to "set up." When I first got the phone it took forever to charge, now it does it fine within 2-3 hours. I plug it in and I see it charges decently fast. When I first got the phone it was really bad at charging though, I really was about to send it back.
Make sure you use a genuine charger. htc or samsung chargers seem to work fine.
An under powered charger will cause the phone to whinge incessantly about low charging power, refuse to swutch off the screen and waste power like its going out of fashion.
Htc logic.. Something not to be desired..

Old thread I know but most relevant I could quickly find.
Using standard charger included with M9 I could charge from 0 to full in about an hour and a half to 2 hours maximum. Lately, it now is taking 9 to 13 hours with the same charger and cable. Have swapped out cable, no improvement.
On stock, no root, TMO, firmware 2.11.531.19. Charging with unit off, in recovery or bootloader makes no difference.
Any ideas?
Turn the device off and charge it. If it charges in the correct amount of time then you can assume you charger is good but the phone is demanding too much power.

I had problems with charging recently. Very obvious fluctuations in charging and not charging to 100%. The problem was lint in the micro USB. Search YouTube videos on how to safely clean them. It has to be worth trying.
Depends, I've had bum adapters before. Had the same issue with my old Note 3 using it's included adapter. I switched to a different one I had (an LG one) and it charged fine afterwards.
My issues were solved by the marshmallow update.
