Wildfire S replacement w/ pic and specs - HTC Wildfire S

I was wondering if HTC would do this, and this A.M. my curiosity was satisfied. Apparently it will be called the Wildfire C codename Golf.

The only thing I would change is the pixel density, but hey, it's a low-end phone. I think my next phone will be the One V anyway.

Looking good, although I want to last as long as possible with my WFS.
Especially useful for porting sense 4, no resizing needed, only a new kernel
Skipping sense 3.5 now but will give version 4 a try, HTC seems to have done some nice things.
I would maybe buy it if it had a hdpi screen in a 3.2 inch screen and a removable battery with lots of capacity which can stand 3 to 4 days. Also HD video recorder would be nice.
In my opinion, smartphones can be thick, (1cm or more) if there is a large battery in it.

This is good because I now have a new phone that I can buy in aprox. 6 months
This is also good because we WANT A LEAKED RUU so we can port this little thing. I'm guessing it will not be full, flat out sense 4 as it is massive and won't fit on anything less than 1GB if you want usable space. I would guess a modified Sense 3.6 and not 4.0 if this is not confirmed. If it is confirmed then I would love to know the storage space.

I doubt HTC is still developing Sense 3.X or planning to lay it over ICS. Moreover, the source article claims it will have Sense 4. My guess is that the Golf/Wildfire C will have scaled-back Sense 4 like the One V. It certainly looks the same in the screenshot.

Very nice, will definitely look into getting that.

I ordered a black version of ws, but a gray violet color arrives. but Im used to it. Next time I should see the actual look first.

This is really stupid -.-
If this phone can have offical ICS and Sense 4.0 then our phone should have it to!!

No, your expectations are ridiculous. HTC doesn't have an army of 10,000 software engineers sitting around developing new ROMs for every legacy device they ever made. Instead, they are producing newer, better devices and developing accordingly, hence this thread.

Exactly :s they sucks

if this phone comes with a 320x480 resolution then it will be nothing but crap........I mean SERIOUSLY!!!!! you put an hvga resolution with a 1ghz processor!!!!!!! the only thing it will be good at is for ports!!!!!

Latest on the Wildfire S replacement. First off, it's been renamed "Desire C".
The specs are disappointing:
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich w/ Sense 4.0
3.5" LCD of HVGA resolution (480×320)
Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 chipset with a CPU clocked at 600MHz
512MB RAM
4GB of built-in storage (plus 25GB cloud space from Dropbox for 2 years)
SD card slot
3G with 7.2Mbps HSDPA, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and USB 2.0
5MP camera with F/2.8 aperture and 34mm focal length
1230mAh
12mm thick with metal frame
I'm happy with the slight increase in screen size but really disappointed by the drop in pixel density. With a next-generation phone, I expected a better screen.
Not much of an upgrade from the Wildfire S if you ask me. The only improvements are screen size (but lower PD), frame (metal vs. plastic), ICS/Sense 4 and the memory issue is solved.
Sources:
HTC Desire C is a budget ICS droid with Beats Audio
HTC Desire C Specs
HTC Desire C is official - ICS, NFC and Beats on a 3.5-inch screen

I hear from my sources of Google and people that it will come in red, white and black.
it will also have an nfc chip.
It has the same resolution as our phones.
It comes in around £170 PAYG here, or £20.50 a month.
This is going to be my next phone probably
However I may wait for jelly bean, I don't see a massive rush to upgrade. Front facing camera would have sold it to me though.
One last edit: I'm so porting that.

Looks like HTC won the style war at least. That thing looks awful in comparison to the One X. Even the dummy case looked better.
Pentile matrix too.

Not really, both phones seems to have their ups and downs
The screen...for me, i prefer the slcd 2 over pentile amoled
Processors and ram are the same, im.sure some.tests will make winner exynos , some tegra
The good for G3 is the extra storage space with expansion ...for me.32. Gb is enough, but still is nice to have expansion
The only relay goodie is G3 for.me is the battery, but thats the sacrifice the HTC did for slicker appearance

I don't have a ONE X ( yet )! I was waiting for the GS3 to make my decision! Samsung made it easy for me with that ugly plasticky phone! HTC ONE X here i come!
Just pre-ordered one and will be saying good bye to my One X - The removable battery and SD Card slot sold me. May do for others also.
I couldn't agree more combat goofwing haha. I personally love the sense interface specially the new 4.0 build. Touchwiz on the otherhand is also **** ugly at least on the gs2 tried it many times and I just can't get along with it. I know there's many launches out the but it's god to compare manufacturers defaults.
I will retract my comment once I have physically seen the new touchwiz but as it stands I'd choose HOX + sense over sg3 + tw anyday

Just because I have a One X doesn't mean I can't sell it and get an S3. I was considering it up until I saw the phone.
It's the same old cheap, nasty, flimsy plastic that Samsung use on all their phones and it's a pentile matrix display with poor colour reproduction and lower PPI. Couple that with the fact the One X has exclusives like Dark Meadow and I have to say the S3 has failed to impressed me.

[Q] New phone - best quad core model

Hey, guys! I am owner of Xperia arc S (and developer of Jelly Sandwich, btw) and want to buy another phone in November. Of course I will still have arc S for development and other stuff, don't worry. I am thinking of one from these models: HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy S III, LG Optimus 4x HD. Which one is the best? Please, recommend something! LG tempts with its low price, but I don't really like its interface - even stock based custom ROMs will have this look. From the other hand SGSIII has its awesome Amoled screen and great support via custom ROMs (One X also does). Do you have any suggestions? I will choose 100% from one od these three phones - even latest Sony phones won't have quad core CPU. And, please... Don't try to make me thing dual core has the same performance as quad core. I just want my future phone to have 4-core CPU.
BTW, I like SGS3's light interface so for example Android Revolution HD ROM would be suitable for me :3
Thanks in advance for suggestions!
Cheers,
Max
It'd have to be the s3, if only because of its popularity. I've been thinking of a new phone for about 6 months, I've tried the xperia s, one x, s3, galaxy nexus and the note 2. The xperiaS was ok, but not a huge improvement on my arc. One x seems faster at first compared to the s3, but after 3-4 days use it felt laggy whereas the s3 actually felt faster. They're both on the large side though. Nexus is good but display lets it down. Note2 is f***ing huge!
I'll probably get the s3 myself, mainly as Samsung have actually put a bit of thought into the ui.

HTC One X.
But why?
Because I like the HTC Sense UI. But thats not the only reason and I think that doesnt rly help you.
Pretty good performance,
customizeable
materials (doesnt cares you, i know)
Even the S3 has got better ways for customization (popular, more private developers..) i would choose one X anyways.

Being quite alot into design, few words from that point of view:
1. You are seriously qualifying Samsung UI as "good one"?
2. How could one go for such uninspiring (not to say ugly) and washed out design, after having sexy beast like arc S?
Bottom line. I would not go for quad-core untill Sony, or anyone else, release an originally designed, true quad-core killer. Also, these first quad-core "experiments" you mentioned as options, will probably be ridiculous by the time Sony release their quad-cores, and generally second generation of quad-cores. One more thing. Quad-cores will be there for long time for sure, and in half year from now (or a bit more), there's a big chance that you will have the weakest quad core phone, of all quad-cores.
Anyway, good luck with shopping.
I have news for you:

That's the main reason I haven't gone for any new phone yet, the fact that the s3 and oneX are basically the first generation of quad cores. Plus as someone said previously, the s3 is pretty bland looking. I chose my arc over an s2 mainly due to its looks and actually think it's still the best looking smartphone, alongside the lumia 900.
many quad core phones are on its way..wait till Christmas if you can and you will have many options

HTC one x+ leaked

The HTC one x+ has been leaked supporting 64 GB internal and it looks like its got a new material around the camera ring which should make it more scratch resistance and it runs on jelly bean. If you look at the three keys on the O2 brochure the keys instead of a blue colour they are red. It's also been claimed that it will have 1.7 GHz processor this could be the tegra 3 which can be clocked to 1.7 GHz with all cores running and DDR3 which is better then the tegra 3 all the other phones are using including the current HTC one x international version, or it could be the same processor which runs at 1.7. GHz single core mode or it could be s4 pro which can run at 1.7 GHz. Most likely it will use s4 pro or the new tegra 3 model with a built in 4g modem.
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_one_x_makes_an_appearance_in_an_o2_uk_brochure_-news-4868.php
Their are no leaks on battery size or anything else the pricing is at £480.00 without contract on O2. The reason why they are releasing this model is because they need to release a phone with 4G which they already have but that isn't international and it has 16GB which isn't enough. the reasons why they are releasing this is because:
-they need to increase their internal memory because that was a major deal breaker for many people although I am okay with 32gb.
-they need a 4g version to compete with iPhone 5. HTC already have a 4g but with only 16gb which is less.
-they needed to redesign the camera lens so its not easily scratched.
-they need to put a better CPU as the current tegra 3 and s4 are not as good as A6 and s4 pro. Although it would be better I'd they where to go with s4 pro since that's the best CPU with excellent power efficient.
-if they do not place a s4 pro then hopefully they'll increase battery since although I doubt that.
-they need to have 1.5gb-2gb ram atleast so theirs no more slowness or sense crashes.

Many people are saying it's to soon for them to releases a flagship but with the likes of Nokia 920, iPhone 5 and others they need to release it. Its actually been 6 months since the HTC one x has been released so I don't know why people are comparing this to the sensation and xe that was released like two months after the sensation I think.
I personally think it's good that they are releasing this I hopefully will be getting it. Remember its called the one x+ it's just a improved version which will be much better on the software side of things. Atleast they didn't do what apple did release 4s after a year with only a few few improvements and no design improvements. I thinks its good of HTC to address the HTC one x's problems after six months.
Many people are complaining on other tech sites that it doesn't have removable sd or a 12 megapixel camera but theirs no need for that. Someone said that if the HTC one x+ has 64gb build in with no sd they won't buy it, first of all 64 gb is more then enough and why do people beg for a sd slot the only advantage I can see is when you have more then one android you want to swap data.
One thing that I have noticed about you tech lovers your so greedy you ask for one thing then you get it and then you want another thing. Your always complaining like you lot have any experience in running an electronic company like HTC. HTC must have done something right to get this far. Many people also compare a current model to a leaked which is obviously gonna be better.
What would you like to see in the new improved model, why and do you think HTC going back to the red keys like the xe was a good idea and will you be buying it even when it has 64gb at the same retail price as a s3 16gb?

Holy cow. That thing is beautiful. Maybe they've been listening to the customers by bringing back the SD slot etc. The choice of colours is pretty nice too. Also, anyone have any clarification on what this "with Google" thing is about, is it something to do with the multi-manufacturer/multi-nexus information we had a while ago, or is it simply going to be placed on all android phones in future?

"With Google" I suspect it is a branding that is gong to be coming to all devices running JB out of the gate going forward.
As nice as this device looks, is this supposed to compete with the Note 2? It seems to have no extra software tailored to use the extra real estate in any meaningful way over the One S even. Likewise 2000mAh battery on a 1080p screen? Unless the sharp screen technology is extremely energy efficient or I'd be surprised to see the device push 3 hours of screen on time at automatic brightness, which given its push as a media consuming / watching device because of its full HD screen is a bit woeful.
To me the device is a bit like 'the emperors new clothes'.... But damn they are sexy clothes.....

I think you're right, it's neither here or there in terms of size. If they were going to go direct with the Samsung they needed a bigger battery (at least 3000mah) and a 5.5 inch screen. I think this is just a "big phone", not a true phablet.
Holy crap!
That is amazing!
I'd trade in my HOX for that bad boy!
It has seriously good looks, has an MicroSD card slot, yes yes yes!
Onboard storage is lacking but I'm guessing that's to conserve space for the MicroSD slot, so meh...
I wonder how thin and light it is!
Its also called the Butterfly not the Butterly.
If you ask me, and you haven't, but I'll put my two cents worth in anyway! It just looks a little taller than the One X. Width and depth seem similar given the "impression" the pics give. Obviously HTC have more to offer than just a bigger screen unlike Apple with their iPhone 5!!!!
Pixel Density of 440ppi as opposed to the iPhone 5's 326ppi, take that retina display!
D: I hope this comes to Europe it looks amazing!

And nagging devs to optimize games for Tegra3!
I'm almost annoyed I'm in a contract for my HOX now as I know I'm going to want that so hard when it's released!
So much for HTC not diluting the market this year!!!
This phone will also be waterproof, the nexus variant will be released when the LG nexus is announced. It says on the back of the device with google because it probably has the hardware specs that meet the standards of the Nexus program.
Their are a lot if people saying that this phone has with google because it runs jelly bean out the box not true. Their are many device being released with jelly bean with no with google on the back if it.
Another reason why I believe this is a nexus phone because surely when they unveiled it they would have talked about the hardware but they didn't, because if they do then what are they going to talk about when they unveil the nexus edition in the coming weeks. They also have sad this phone will be available during December so why announce it now.
This is HTC's way of hinting they will be releasing a nexus phone. It looks best in black because then the finish of it is not shiny. Another thing I have noticed is the charger port has a flap that obviously points to it being water proof. They have only spoken about the display ppi they haven't spoken about the screen tech. This will only be spoken about when the google nexus phones are unveiled.
This is certainly the best nexus phone coming out easily beating the LG nexus. The only thing I want from this now is a good battery life which I think will be the same as the one x U.S variant, but slightly better since it will have android 4.2 running on it

But why still 8MP camera? Sharp announced 16MP already and I am expecting at least 12MP...

I thought we had moved on from the megapixel myth. Bigger is not always better....
I hope it still has use of the HTC Image Sense chip.
Looks great, but I honestly still like the One X's design better. Also, that new Sense variation looks weird, what with those strange icons on the left.

It's probably customizable, those could be widgets.

When will we recieve a Desire Z replacement?

Year in and year out, we desperately wait for the Desire Z to be replaced by something better (we don't care if its from HTC, Samsung, etc).
When will be the time?
Personally, and based on what we see with the Moto X, it will be the Motorola Droid 5. Yes, I know the Droid 4 was a piece of **** for XDA but now that it is Google's company....Maybe we will see a change with the Moto X and Google's involvement.
No thoughts on this?
I personaly kinda gave up the hope for a better qwerty smartphone
In my opinion from specs the mytouch 4g slide was one of the best with h/w keyboard, but from buildquality no phone reaches the DZ
And the developement for the mytouch is, well, not dead, but very little (guess there are 3 ppl who can port and 1 or 2 who really can build a ROM, yet no one who can port/build sense ROMs :/ )

A QWERTY brother of the HTC One would absolutely be the best. The chances of such a thing: nil.

Yea, I'd love to see a QWERTY keyboarded version of an HTC One - however I seem to remember reading somewhere that HTC has tossed in the towel on QWERTY keyboard phones...
Yah, Still going strong with DZ, And i wouldn't want HTC one with qwerty, unless it also gets removable battery and a memorycard slot. Right now the only upcoming and current phones I'm interested in is the Jolla, and maybe Adaia. Then there is ubuntu edge, that's not going to happen imo.
But Adaia is probably going to be too much on the expensive, in the woods type of a phone with hot swappable batteries, and satellite phone capabilities, running android. And no idea if there will be a hw qwerty.
Really interested in Jolla and Sailfish tough, with better multitasking, since on android only some apps have it. (you can't leave youtube video running in the background when checking mail or something) Also was hoping for a "the other half" with an slide out qwerty, but since looks like the back is only using nfc, and doesn't have a physical connector, it would have to be nfc qwerty with its own battery.
Then there is Samsung note series, my dad got a note 2. It's pretty big, but the stylus is great, somewhat interested in a phone with proper stylus. But i dont like the front button layout on the galaxy line, why mix capacitive and a physical button, its just, eeew.
Also read about a new samsung android FLIP phone with hw dumbphone keypad, and dual screens, could be good. Even Apple added dumbphone on screen keypad on the latest iOS, since turns out lot of ppl prefer it, and can type faster on it, than a qwerty.
Pics of this just popped up on engadget: http://www.engadget.com/2013/08/04/samsung-galaxy-folder-live-photos/
Anyway for now, Jolla is my number one choice for my next phone. Definately if they come up with a qwerty back cover for it.
It would be amazing if someone made a phone comparable to the G2. But I have a feeling no one is going to release a high quality QWERTY phone ever again as there is so little demand (except for us!), such a shame.
Giving up the ghost next month and going with the S3 and buying a sliding keyboard case as an attachment.

Probably the best we can do for now!

I imported a Galaxy S Relay 4G from U.S.
Snappy 4-row QWERTY keyboard, Jelly Bean, 1.4 GHz dual-core Snapdragon. Only letdowns are the WVGA pentile display and 5 megapixel camera which are definitely not high-end.
Compatible with GSM networks after unlocking and has fairly stable CM10.1 port if you absolutely hate TouchWiz. Here's video review to see the phone in action.

Wow that is cool, this would be the replacement option when my DZ dies. Do you know if there's a QWERTZ version?
Cheers, Ralf

Although it's rather fat. Maybe a phone plus an external keyboard when travelling would be better?
Just thinking. Cheers Ralf
Samsung is coming out with a flip phone. Try that
Well, some pictures of a Droid 5 just leaked. Now with Google in control, we can HOPE the bootloader is not as locked down as the Droid 4 and some good ROM work can come to it.
HTC One is Only HTC I liked after DZ. I think it will be my next phone
The new droid with the keyboard looks good, but we would need it to be GSM, and Verizon is CDMA. Hopefully Motorola will make a GSM version.

It wouldnt make sense to release a CDMA only version. The development and production costs would outweigh their gainings.
I am troubled though about both a europe and a US version. Did the Droid 4 get released in europe?
