Just plugged my 900 in to add music from zune, when the update tag when off.
A Nokia update is available.
I'll run it and see what happens.

No idea....most of what Seek puts in his post about the flashed phone is very evident. They claim a battery fix is in there too...no way to tell yet. I searched the ms site...I didn't see an update notice yet
I just got it too....
I just got update too and the phone seems faster all around....Mine just encountered the bug today and went nuts...had to reformat and start over....If only it had come a few minutes sooner!!!!

I hard reset after update anyway....so it makes no matter to me. I keep docs and pics online...and use reinstaller....and so its fairly painless
My " green dot " phone got an update notification too, I'm hooking it up now to see if it does anything.
yeah im use to format
yeah im use to format...I had original focus with the sd card fiasco!!!
Hmmm, its updating my phone too. I'm skeptical to why, unless the "Green Dot" fixed phones were missing some of the fixes Nokia intended.
After the update, my phone now get no signal what so ever. Reboot, get the signal back. But after one phone call, no signal again. The update seems to make it worse.
wow nokia is fast at updating
My Firmware updated from 2175.1000.8112.12082 to 2175.1002.8112.12084
I had incredible battery life before the update, I hope I don't lose that. Maybe it will be even better???
from here:

"Well my phone is now stably locked onto 4G. No more hunting around like before. Its hard to prove a negative but this seems pretty good so far!"
Any luck for us Canadians ?? I am not seeing it via Zune
No update for Camada ? Wake up Rogers !
Nothing for Canada. I'm sure we'll see it this time next year, though.
Just installed the update. Scrolling is better. Still nothing compared to my HD7.
Load times are noticeably faster though.

try a hard reset?
I just want to know if any of you noticed that after the update that the screen color has changed in low light. I noticed that my keyboard is now a warmer color, like purpleish when brightness is set to low and if it is set to medium or high it is gray. It is bothering me because when brightness is set to auto and when i'm browsing the web I notice the color change from purple to gray when the automatic brightness changes from low to medium.
I know for sure my phone was gray on low, medium and High before I had it replaced for a mic issue. The new phone I got already had the updated software installed. I was just wondering if the new phone I got has a defective screen.

I've been having a a bit of a strange bug with my GN...
When i unlock and open for instance messaging app to look at SMS's...i see the screen dim a lot and come back again. If i open up settings screen dims like an LCD panel with no backlight. If i click back, screen comes back again or if i lock and unlock screen, all is OK.
I've done some fiddling about and it only seems to happen on apps with white backgrounds i.e. messaging, gtalk, gmail etc. If i open dark background apps i.e. phone app, settings or gallery it doesnt happen.
But for all those other apps when i launch them, screen appears to flicker (dim) and come back again...messaging is the only one where it dims completely in settings.
Has anybody else noticed this?
And more wierdness...in the messaging settings menu, if i scroll to the bottom the brightness goes completely and then comes back again, and starts flickering a lot...
maybe i'll try turning off auto brightness and see if it still does it...
I've had a couple of customers come in already saying they always felt like the brightness was on notch to low sometimes or just very dim. Considered it user error, just got my nexus in the mail and after set up brightness just dropped randomly to almost nothing...
soooo guess we'll see
ah well still did it with auto brightness off
wonder if i've got a borked phone or if others do it and they just dont notice...
EDIT: if anybody's interested in seeing it i've just uploaded a vid here
And i know i still have the front screen cover on...havent wanted to take it off yet!
Restored stone to factory settings this morning and i've not installed anything else or changed any settings (other than turning off NFC, wifi and mobile data)...and it still does it.
Think i might have a defective handset then...annoying though, it's only 2 weeks old but the place i got it from states
Phones that are faulty out-of-box as determined by our warehouse can also be returned for an extended period of up to 7 days from date of delivery.

So if i can't get a replacement out of them, what are the odds of samsung replacing it for a new handset?
Hmm pretty sure it's hardware, set desktop picture to something quite bright/white and sure enough when i was scrolling through the 5 homescreens brightness was flickering from one to the next...
What are the odds of getting a replacement handset after 2 weeks? :|
I had this same issue when I got my phone. I had a yakjuwx build in my phone.
Ever since I flashed over to yakju I haven't experienced it.
You may want to check and see what you have.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
Mine is already running yakju from new :/ I might try re-flashing it tonight though just for the hell of it.
Is this not a bit weird that it happens only on bright/wight screens/backgrounds/apps? And that it's suddenly fine when you lock the screen...
If it was a laptop i'd be fitting a new panel to it but then i dont know what amoled's are like (especially combined with a light sensor)
Nope, still does it after a re-flash :/
Got a replacement handset now...
Like my first one, it was one of the early opened and re-sealed with samsung label handsets (and they hadnt put the battery door on properly, fingerprint on the SIM card slot!)
But anyways, waiting for the OTA update on this one
It's obviously running ITL41D and no OTA has come through yet whereas on my first handset it came through pretty much straight away.
Would the fact i've already had the OTA on one handset stop this coming through? :|
Hey everyone,
I'm currently running the latest Jackos and I believe everyone was fine with the speaker you hold to your ear in conversation until about 2 weeks ago. Maybe a week or so after I installed the newest Jackos. Now I can't hear anything on it, but the microphone works fine. Speakerphone works fine, and my bluetooth earpiece works fine. I've searched for help on this and can't find anything to fix this problem.
The other problem is right when I boot the phone, instead of getting the black screen with the red diagnostic text, I get a white screen with colored speckles all over the screen. The speckles don't move at all and if I let it sit for 20 seconds or so, it will then show the HTC logo on black and continue booting. I can't get into the bootloader, I can't hard reset the phone, etc. Any ideas how to fix this? I haven't tried flashing the same/another ROM yet, but I don't know if that's even possible with this snow screen problem.
I've run Task29 and all the usual stuff every time I've flashed and I have never seen this happen until a couple of weeks ago. It does it NEARLY every time I soft reset or shutdown and boot or pull the battery and boot. The battery charges fine and it runs fine otherwise.
The screen will get random glitches in it, even when the battery is full and it makes me suspect maybe the battery's going bad but it'll run all day without problems and it doesn't get warmer than usual or anything like that.
Also, sometimes it says there's no SIM inserted and I've pulled it out, the contacts are nice and gold and nothing seems wrong.
Any ideas?
My sig is out of date but I have to head out right now and can't switch it yet, but it's the latest Jackos with 6.5.
Thanks,
Eric
I would flash a different/stock ROM and see if anything changes.
If no, hardware problem. If yes, software problem .
You seem to think you cannot, but AFAIK if you can task29, you can flash a ROM. Either way, putting an nbh on the SD card and doing power+vol up+reset should work regardless, unless the device is really bricked - in which case it wouldn't be booting.
Okay thanks, I'll see what I can do with it.. It does boot fine, though for a week I thought it was bricked because of the snow, but I decided to just let it sit for a week and gave it a shot, and poof! no snow on the first boot. It had the regular red text on black. Then I reset it from the slide to reset menu item and it went to snow again. I let it sit there and about the duration that it would be on the diagnostic screen, it was snow, then magically showed me the HTC logo and booted normally.
So it seems to me that it somehow doesn't want to show diagnostic info but does everything else.. So maybe the bootloader mode IS working, I just can't view that. I'll see what I can do.
Does the screen corruption/no sound in earpiece seem like a ROM issue, or battery related, or phone going bad problem to you?
And I've been looking for a while trying to find a suitable replacement, but haven't seen anything that I really find appealing (either in Android or WP7).. Any thoughts on that?
Thanks again,
Eric

Flash stock, it re-flashes everything... Make sure it works, then flash back to Jacko's.

Talk about loaded questions! I haven't found anything that's appealing with a hardware keyboard yet... The supposed TP3 (on Sprint it's the "Arrive"...) was a real disappointment.
MT4GS looks decent, if you can live with tmo...
Thanks for your replies, I'm going to try to flash to stock in a little while and see how that goes.
The new Glide phone that AT&T has sounded promising until I read a review of it. Slow camera, 480x800 on a larger screen, etc. It didn't seem as cool as I had hoped it would be after that.
I'll write back with my progress or lack thereof with this TP2.
Eric
I installed HTC's official AT&T ROM and the screen corruption seems to be less extensive but looks different too. The snow at startup is still present though.
There was a radio that came with Jackos ROM, is there any chance that's to blame? Though it worked fine for a couple weeks before these weird screen things started happening.
I haven't tried making a voice call yet to test the earpiece/earphone/loudspeaker or whatever the proper name is for it but since nothing else is really 'fixed' I'm not sure it will work either.
Thanks,
Eric

task29 & flash stock? Otherwise perhaps you have a hardware problem... I don't know what to make of this snow .
The earpiece/loudspeaker thing isn't fixed either. I'll try a Task29 tomorrow or tonight if I can't sleep (thinking about this stupid phone! ) and then flash this ROM again and see what happens and let you know.

Happy New Year everyone!
I'm a complete noob to root/flashing my samsung captivate glide so please forgive me if these questions seems stupid. I searched on google and in this forum but can't seem to find answers.
I just recently rooted + flash to CM10.1 (android 4.2.1 beta) on my phone and I have been playing around with the software for the past 2 days. I'm pretty happy with it so far; patiently waiting for some fixes like Bluetooth and keyboard back light (like everyone else). I would also like to take this opportunity to say thanks to everyone involved in these kinds of projects. You guys fill the need left in the gap between the manufacturers and the service providers that decide that our phones are obsolete and shouldn't get updates even if the phone can actually benefit from said update.
Today I just tried something: I pushed the power button and on the screen there was a menu to reboot or shutdown: I selected reboot, and then had other choices on screen, and I selected "download" thinking it would go into update mode?... so the device rebooted into download mode and I see the green android logo with the words "Downloading..." in white and "Do not turn off target!!" in green. It's been like that for 30 minutes now and I was just wondering if it truly is downloading something and/or if I can just pull the battery out right now to turn the phone back on normally. If it really is downloading, I find it funny that it's taking so long since I have a 20 MB connection speed...
The reason I went into download mode is because I saw the options inside android 4.2.1 to update CM10.1 automatically (I chose "nightlies" and "check twice a day"...) and I have yet to see any updates being done. Will there be a pop-up of some kind if there are any nightlies available for download? Will I have to go into download mode to apply the updates? Do they auto-download when the phone is on and they update at next reboot? Please explain the update process...
Also. I don't know if this is a problem or not, but I noticed in JB that my battery seems to drain faster than with GB installed... nothing drastic, but noticeable. For example, if I turn everything off except cell antenna overnight, 10 hours later I have 10% less battery. It used to be around 5% less battery. Can anyone confirm that JB uses more battery than other android versions?
Thanks for taking the time to answer all my questions, I appreciate it and hopefully it will answer other noob questions in the future.
Download mode is used for downloading an operating system via Odin and USB connection. Rather curious how you would not have used that to get to where you are now, unless you obtained your phone with a CWM recovery already on it?
As for battery life, in my time lurking here, I haven't seen many posts about it, but can weigh in with my thoughts. I noticed a significant power drain when I had enabled Google Now. Once I had turned it off, my battery life improved drastically. Still does seem to drain a bit more than stock, but I suspect that is due to optimizations that need to happen for our devices and/or bugs in cm10 itself, as I have seen some things suggesting issues with the screen auto brightness in someone's ROM notes...
Hope this helps and welcome to the world of Android modding!

Thanks for your quick reply,
Yes I used the Download mode with odin to root my device, but I wasn't sure why it was written "Downloading...." like it was actually downloading something (like a CM10.1 update or something). Anyway, thanks for confirming that this is the same download mode as for odin.
Do you know how the CM10.1 updates work? will it post a message on the phone when an update is available?
I am already using auto-brightness so that's not the issue and all other antennas are off, except for cellphone antenna to receive calls.
anyway, it's not a big problem for now, there are still tweaks and updates to come so we will see how battery use develops in the coming weeks/months.
Thanks for your answers.

Purely guessing, but seeing as how the OTA updates work from carriers, you get notified in the notification bar and downloads the ROM while the phone is still up and running, I would assume CM would work the same way. But, I don't think it's actually enabled as of yet, since the ROM is still in development. Feel free to anyone to correct me on this, but I feel I am more or less correct on this.

That only works for official CM releases. You'll have to check the thread periodically and manually update by downloading the zip and flashing it with CWM.

JB battery has been better for me than the official ICS was. There's so many variables there though, you're probably doing something different or have some app installed that you didn't before.
I’m usually the first to hit the Update button on anything I own, but after reading about all the bugs that Sony introduced with the firmware updates following .114, I chose not to update mine. I’ve been stuck with a permanent notification in my Notification Shade informing me of the update ever since but that is a small price to pay for a relatively bug-free phone.
Now that .757 is released, is it safe to take the plunge? I am in no particular hurry because I cannot think on anything in KitKat that I particularly want and I know that Sony hasn’t fixed my major issues with the phone anyway. I know the camera isn’t any better in low light, the proximity sensor lag remains and the fast dormancy “feature” that drains up to 40% of the phone’s battery every day is still there.
But if it is as stable as .114, I’d like to be on the latest and greatest again. Your opinion is welcome. Thank you.
Android 4.4 has a general bug with the sound (google problem) but apart from that I can't find anything wrong. Battery seems great. In fact I like it better than the 4.3 rom.

Oh yes, I was nothing but shocked when I installed KK - I'm mean is this an open source droid or a locked down fruit phone?
Not to forget to mention that email+exchange permissions is changed (for my company mail which uses ms exchange servers).
PIN requirement is not enough on KK, only password with atleast 4 letters, 2 numbers and 3 signs
Takes a week to unlock your phone unless you root and install an old hacked version of email+exchange.apk+the risk of getting sacked (if they would find out).
Only thing I miss from KK is the Stamina icon but the GEL Xperia Xposed dev is looking into porting it :good:

Why do you think it is better than Sony’s Camera app? It does not remove the low light issue (where the camera bumps up the ISO much more than it strictly needs to and makes the photos a grainy, unusable mess) and it does not have a manual mode, so you can tackle it yourself. While I like the sparse interface, I have to stick with Sony’s app, because this phone’s camera is useless without manual mode in low light.
Also, on an unrelated note, can any one of you help me get the Personalised Recognition feature back in Google Now? I used to have it in the settings menu but don’t anymore. It disappeared while I was on .114 and I was hoping that updating to .757 would bring it back, but it hasn’t. Do you guys have it?
Sorry to keep bumping my own thread, but this message is just to help out other users who are thinking of installing this update. My recommendation is: go for it!
I had a long list of annoyances with this phone, but I updated to .757 yesterday and it has fixed almost all the issues I had on .114. The major issues that have been addressed:
The Fast Dormancy bug seems to be gone. That Android process that was eating up 40% of my battery life every day no longer shows up on the battery usage screen.
The proximity sensor delay is gone. You bring the phone away from your ear and the display turns on instantly. Magic!
So far, I have no experienced the keyboard skipping issue, so I hope that is taken care of as well.
The only major issue that remains is that the camera is still terrible in low light, thanks to the software that bumps up the ISO needlessly to insane levels. But I can live with that.
I no longer regret buying this thing.

I know it's not really a solution, but keep your cam in manual mode and alter the ISO manually. Every phone I've ever used with a camera (iPhones are particularly bad offenders) ALWAYS overcompensate on the ISO in every single environment other than outside on a bright day.
You'll get spectacular improvements if you just get into the habit of entering manual mode, and altering the ISO to the lowest you can get away with (while keeping all the other options on auto) each time you're taking a photo. As far as Im concerned it's far better that way and produces better results than either superior auto or the iPhone's one-button-capture simplicity.
Thanks. I already do that but the default camera app does not make it easy to change the ISO. It takes at least five taps from within the main camera interface to change the ISO and come back. Often, by the time you are done experimenting with the ISO settings, the subject has moved on. Or you end up with a reasonably well lit but blurry shot because the camera UI makes no attempt to inform you of the shutter speed when you take the shot. I have no found any camera apps on the Play Store that make up for these deficiencies either.

Good thing for me that went from .114 directly to .757 (i am rooted also)
Camera app have now a 15Meg option
Transparency
Bad things
Conversations.apk (the SMS/MMS app from Sony) is full of bugs. And when I mean full, I really mean it.
Sometimes messages that i already read in the conversations, disappears. All I would see is the blue bubble showing that there's a message, but without the text of the messages. So far this seems to only affect SMS, not MMS.
The color of the bubble when you type, let say blue, and the color of the bubble of the other person talking to you, let say faded blue, often get switch, so reading a conversation might become difficult.
To get the difficulty level higher in following your conversation, sometimes even the side of the screen your bubble is supposed to be attached switch. I mean here, that when you type, your message is next to right side, and your friends reply is next to left side. But now, sometimes you switch side all of a sudden, or worst, sometimes you're on the same side then your interlocutor. Reading SMS with the conversation.apk is totally hardcore now.
Another thing that really piss be off, but I do not know if this is from 757 or if it was already in 114, since I did not use this app in 114, it is the Email software. The Email software stacks/bundles all the messages with the same subjet title when someone reply or transfer your email. (like Gmail does in a browser by default). I really hate this functionality, I prefer to just scroll down to see the previous message if I need to. Unfortunately for me, there's no option in the app to unstack/ungroup emails messages.
Another problem I have with the Email app, this is a bug, because it wasn't doing this in previous build, it is that the Small yellow icon on the icon that tells you that there's 1,2,3 what ever number unread messages, and also the Mail icon in the notification bar, does not go away upon opening the email message. You need to actually press the back button to exit the new messages for it to be marked as read, so that the icon and the notification bar adjust. So if you open an email messages, press the home button to do whatever else, then look back at your notification bar or email icon, you'll think you got new email message, but in fact, it's the same one that is still marked as unread, even if you did open it and read it...
Email and SMS/MMS apps are what I use the most on my phone, I've been using them since I got my first Xperia X10 Mini Pro that was running 1.6, but I've never had that much trouble, they have so many annoying bugs right now. The only problem I've had was the notification LED bug on my Xperia Mini Pro running ICS.
Another thing that I hate, but this is not from 757, but from JellyBean. I come from ICS, and what I hate the most, is the damn white background of all apps. It use more battery and it hurts my eyes in low light room even with minimum brightness. I just wish a stable CyanogenMod with black background pops like in ICS so that I can install it. I've seen some topic about it over here, but they only explain how to uncompile and recompile, too much complicated, I'd rather simply have a package I could simply install with CWM.
EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention another bug. Somehow the auto-rotate of the screen stopped working twice in the last 2 weeks. Each time I need to go in the accessibility options and uncheck/recheck the auto-rotate option to fix this. (grrr need to wait 5 minutes to be able to edit my msg #xdaforumantispam)
This phone has an LED-backlit LCD display. It does not affect the phone's battery life whether the screen is white or black. Not enough to make a practical difference, in any case.

I am not entirely sure if I'm tripping, but I seem to be missing phone calls pretty damn often. I think I recall at one point I randomly grabbed my phone to have it by me and noticed that someone was calling me but it wasn't ringing at all, though the screen did light up. I made sure my settings do have have "Do Not Disturb" mode on. I have the CPH2451 and running stock with latest OTA A.10 update. After doing a brief Google search, I see that OnePlus has had issues in the past but those are from the OnePlus3 and OnePlusNord so I am not sure if that's still relevant in this day and age.
Anyone experiencing something similar or have any clues as to what might be going on?
Edited: Fat fingered the model #. Fixed.

This might be obvious to you, so just ignore if you know this.
When holding your phone in your hand like you're texting in portrait mode, there's a switch top right and on side of phone.
Adjust the switch so it's down.
Ive experienced this, even after swapping to 2449.
Seems theres a couple settings that revert on reboots for some odd reason.
Just go into the phone app settings, notifications and reset thr ring tone and all set after 2 times doing it ... annoying?? damn right!... but at least its fixable ....

That's so dumb... The more I use this phone, the more I get buyer's remorse.
I haven't restarted my phone since I got it I think but I'll try that and see if the issue persists. Thanks!
Edit: Any word if OnePlus is aware of this and plans on fixing it? If not, perhaps I should forward this to them.

don't know if they are aware. just to add to the weirdness of it... for me... after the second time, the setting sticks...
i have this problem with my 8 pro, the phone doesn't ring and i think it goes straight to VM? seems like something broke with one of the latest OP updates?
There's no such version as CPH2541.
And here it works perfectly. Factory reset and try again.
