No I meant LIKE yea. Never like used it but like just trying it now and like its pretty sweet.

Poweramp is amazing. Though, I use Google Music now since all my music is synced there.

Gone mad music player for its customization and easy playlists.
Pandora for streaming.

[Q] last.fm alternative?

i'm bummed that they are now charging for last.fm.. i use it pretty much every day. Pandora sucks...
So, does anyone know of any good alternatives? otherwise i may actually consider paying for the service....

have you tried slacker?
I'm playing with it now... its weird, different. Their top stations are awful but I created a new station that was playing my kind of music.
The thing I loved about lastfm was their vast selection of music. They even knew about this local garage band around me. I guess time will tell if slacker is good, but I'm open to more suggestions

My favorite music app over and above all else is now AudioGalaxy. Check it out. It streams all the music from your home computer without you having to sync.
i like GrooveShark. its not free, but at 3usd a month, its not going to bankrupt me. you can cancel it anytime too, and you get to use playlists from other people(check out reddit, grooveshark playlists). you can see these on your computer and your phone, and mark favorites from them.
i'd check out the free version on your PC first, everything it can do, so can the mobile client.

HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS?
setting up when I get home today... wow, this would be my savior. I keep having to add/delete cds off of my sd card, this sounds like a much better solution.

I used Titanium backup to remove the stock music player and now my lockscreen music controls on CM7 and my headset music buttons work for AudioGalaxy without firing up another player. That used to happen to me. Sometimes I'd have 2 players play at the same time. Since AG is really the only mp3 player I need I uninstalled the other ones.
Another alternative is Grooveshark.

While I personally love grooveshark and pay for it to use the android app, the fact that such payment is required makes this a less than likeable alternative for many who are seeking something free like lastfm used to be.

Third party google music app?

Does anyone know of a way to use streaming google music content with another app? I really like having all my music on google music (although I wish there were more features, especially with the manager). I would really like to have my streaming music in a better made app like poweramp, but I dont know if its possible.
I read about a month ago that Google was releasing the Music API. At the moment its Gmusic stream and nothing else from what I understand...
thank you for your reply. I have come to the same conclusion, but I figure I'd throw it on the forums

lol almost. i provided the same answer to a user a couple weeks back. it only works for the ''offline'' music, not all streaming. google is releasing the music api so the devs of poweramp and the like will be able to incorporate it into their apps soon. thats all i know for now

Better music player than winamp??

Is there something better than winamp out there? It keeps locking up on me and uninstalling/reinstalling doesn't seem to help. I like the swipe to skip songs feature, so if there's something that has that feature, that would be great.
Any suggestions?
I'm using Apollo. Nothing fancy but it gets the job done plus it has equalizer settings.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
Can I get it from the market? The link to download it from the site is blocked here at work.
I used MysteryEmotionz Blacked out Miui Music. Works really well. It's in the old Epic apps area. Zip won't work in recovery, just push apk to system/app.
Poweramp... best there is!
I love player pro

I used apollo for a bit, but the sound quality was not great. i got a lot of distortion. the eq does not work at this moment to my knowledge. mine kept reverting to fx or w.e. its called.
to answer the OP question. Poweramp is the best, hands down. It is a few bucks, but you get what you pay for. The eqing and sound customization is phenomenal. The overall appearance (including the lockscreen) is great as well. Give it a test drive and youll see. I think its a 14 day trial.
edit: i dont use it, but im pretty sure you can swipe to go to the next song in the app and lockscreen

Poweramp. I believe you can still try it free for 30 days.
poweramp is great, only complaint (big one for me) is that if you use bluetooth for your car stereo, it doesnt pull the song title like the stock music player does

I believe so, atleast for me. like i said, you can give the full trial a go for 14 days
i got poweramp, player pro, and mixzing
i say poweramp, equalizer is better.
but mixzing was cool cuz it would set up a playlist for you and now it doesnt work well anymore.
its unanimous, poweramp. play pro is good too but I didn't like the eq very much
I was having massive winamp problems too and recently found Doubletwist. Its been working really well for the last week or so. It does shoutcast streaming as well, only complaint is that seems to time out and not reconnect to the stream if it drops for any reason.
JetAudio or Poweramp.
I used poweramp for a while but I'm really starting to enjoy JetAudio, it's brand new as well so it can only get better.
poweramp!!!
I just tested jetaudio. it doesnt display song title info from blue tooth on the car radio either

Honestly I think they both suck but if I had to choose between those two it would be Apollo. Google music caches random things I never asked it to and doesn't cache what I want it to. I use doubletwist.

That's not what was asked... apollo or google play or gtfo... I don't like either, but apollo sucks way less than google play music.....
Google play music, just because of the cloud (only on wifi, not 3g) and the default settings are perfect for car audio. I've played with the Apollo just couldn't find anything that makes it stand out from the abundance of music players on the market.

Apollo is garbage, I was just giving another suggestion because they are obviously not the only music apps. Gtfo? Ok
I use Apollo with the Black theme. I can't say I love it, but it plays music and has the "Hold volume UP to skip" feature... which is really all I need (I use Shuffle All while jogging and it's nice being able to skip a song I dont want to hear without needing to even look at my phone). Last time I checked the Volume UP skip didn't work with Play Music.
I do wish Apollo would get an update with more features, neater UI, and do better with album art.

If it's only used for cloud then it's ok. I live out west so when I leave urban areas service its spotty so I have to have music on the phone as well. Google music doesn't cache what I tell it to. It just caches random things so because of that I say it sucks.
Power amp could be good. It has a lot of features but the interface sucks.
you save music for offline mode before you leave the house. Google Music because of the free cloud service.
