Personally I would say Software, but unfortunately nobody knows for sure.
i have another problem to send "mms" i have correctly configured the APN
I bought 2 One X's, one has screen jumping issue and was sending back for replacement, another one doesn't has issue......yet. I believed that it is a hardware issue but just my 2 cents

I may have solved the problem but I'm not sure will carry out tests if the problem recurs to me more, I will tell you how I did it
I pretty much solved the problem of flickering and jumping screen.
I installed from the market ZDbox, enter "system cleaner" (to clean the cache) then press "clean all cache"
let me know if it works

Does it still work for you?
I tried your idea and i worked right after i cleaned the cache. After a bit it started to jump again.
Really hope this is a software problem that can be fixed with a patch. Anyone heard anything yet?
What are people doing with this ? I am having the same problem and I am wondering if I should send it back or hope that some kind of software update will fix it.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Believe me, this is a typical software glitch. I had it 2 times in the past 5 days, and most of the time it was triggered with the now known taskbar glitch.
At the moment when i turn my phone into sleepmode for a half minute or so and turn it back on the jumping is gone.
I can't imagine that this is related to a hardware fault. I have seen many hardware and software issues on computers/other devices throughout my life, and this one is acting like a typical software/gpu driver glitch
So what would you recommend? To send it back or to wait for HTC to release a update. I am not sure what to do.

I would wait indeed, or you can try out a custom rom which has the 1.28 update already baked in
OTA 1.28 is out now, so you could try that first before sending the phone back
I've tried 1.28 and 1.29 updates but the jumping still occurs. Annoying.

Dear aLL
I have been using custom rom (almost all of them) since i bought WFS, Recently it gives very annoying error like below :
Have to try several times to unlock the device
Some keys(w,r,a,d,c) are not working, after some while keyboard goes OK
The most thing is at some moment some place don't response while other do without any problem
Are these all of problem relate to custom ROM or my device getting an issue ?
If so, is there any tools/apps to check the problem finding/resolving ... ?
The problem creating very annoying situation when going to call emergency.
Give me a hand...
I know that there are a lot of phones like your's too

Same here.I am fed up by this issue.Never works when we are in a hurry. The problem became worse after the 2.3.5 upgrade with the new screen lock. The touch works absolutely perfect most of the times but sometimes it just behave abnormal.Does this have something to do with the internal memory ? .I am thinking of giving the phone to the service center to have a check before the warranty is over. Sometimes if the hands or the ear is wet with sweat the screen gets wet and that will affect touch response but cleaning it seldom helps. sometimes cleaning dust near the sensors helps. Wildfire s owners please share your views.Does rooting helps ? seems not from the OP
Sounds like a hardware issue.
When I first got my wildfire s, I had to get a replacement sent the next day, my problem was when charging, the touch screen would totally do its own thing eg scrolling, selecting icons all by itself, if I tried to scroll or swipe it would go mad and do completely messed up things.
Unplug the charger and it was perfect again, I read some other forums different HTC phones have this issue and seems to be an issue with the phone not being grounded properly.
My replacement was and still is perfect.
If you are still in warranty I would send it into HTC to be checked and repaired.

What do you mean by flash the system.
My WFS behaves the same way, cleaning cache partition and dalvik cache helps but after few days problems show up again: it it very hard to unlock the device, if for instance I ulock it in the phone app, the phonepad wont work. I have to returrn to home and press phone again and then it works. It is very annoyng anyways. Rooting and flashing a custom Rom did not solve my problem.

I would say its probably faulty hardware, if you still got warranty I would suggest using it mate.
I do not think it's faulty HW, actually I did send mine in service and after they did a factory reset the unit was working fine. As I mentioned, after wiping the cache the phone performs very well for a few days, then it starts playing crazy.

Did they fix it? It is very hard to replicate this behaviour. The moment you do a full wipe it is good for some time. All the service centre in Romania did was to re-install the rom and they said it's good...

Get to service center . I think, you couldn't fix it at home.
As I stated before, I already sent it to the service centre. All they did was wiping the device and reinstall the ROM. Does anyone have an explanation as to why the digitizer is sometimes broken and sometimes not?
Clearing the cache solves the problem temorarily, so I don't think it is a HW problem, but maybe I'm wrong...
I just don't wanna go through the trouble of unrooting and returning to stock if I don't have to.

What is digitizing... yes I agree that if its OK for most of the time then it may not be a hardware issue. Still if we go back to the unrooting phase, downgrade from GB 2.3.5... will it solve our problem...../// who knows

i have a strong feeling that this has nothing to do with the hardware. That is why it works "most of the times". The main problem is that we could not replicate the problem to show to the service center people. It happens most of the times but sometimes it will work when we are about to show the problem to somebody.I am on stock 2.3.5 and the problem is a constant head ache for me.I love the phone otherwise, its an awesome phone....
Hi guys,
Please see the attached video. As you can see a menu bar like band keeps flashing at the bottom of the screen. This happens even when I am on the Homescreen. It does not happen all the time but at Random. This bar flashes even when its shutting down and the HTC logo is being displayed.
I am using this phone since April and I have observed this problem since Day 1. I thought an upgrade to 1.28 might solve this but it hasn't. I even tried Hard reset but the problem persists.
Would like to know if anyone else is facing a similar issue. Is this just a software glitch or should I ask for a replacement?
Kindly let me have your feedback.

What's up guys, i'm new here . Three days ago, HTC sent back my phone after a checkup for a vibration problem. They said that they did a software update (false, it was already 1.29.401.11) and sensors calibration. Yesterday, the phone stopped vibrating again. What should i do now? I think that is a software problem (stock rom, never rooted). I'm sorry for bad english . Thanks

Don't think you can do anything much other than give it back and ask for a replacement as it's the second time this has happened... Also, try doing a factory restore and see if it works.

i cant figure out what's causing it any suggestions what it would be ?
not a incoming email vibration notification , not a wi-fi drop out vibration notification.

They actually scammed you by saying they updated it(when it was updated already like you say) You should go back, yell at them and take out some frustration if you wish =P
Don't root your phone to install another rom, try fixing it as is on stock rom.
I would try these:
1)Factory Reset
2)Update to latest FW
3)HTC Diagnostics Test (Has a vibration test)
4)Haptic Feedback On(To see if it vibrates on typing and tapping and such)
5)Phone Ringing with vibration
If any of the above work, then its definitely a software problem.
If they don't, either way you have to go back to HTC. Try getting a replacement. Say you're tired of coming back again and again to get your phone fixed, "Give me a replacement or My Money back"
I read another post a few weeks back where the user was experiencing these mechanical sounds on haptic feedback(I also have that problem) but his vibration stopped altogether. He got his HOX replaced.
Anyways Good Luck.

Sorry I'm probably stepping on his thread too, but please point in any directtion before I have an inoperable phone and a hard time getting HTC to cover.
However, I an issue that will f-up this phone I'm afraid. I have on a daily basis what I would describe as an alarm of some sorts (can't duplicate) that runs about 15 seconds once to twice daily at full vibration. Not rooted and have reset 3 times.
If you've ever run a battery drain program with full vibration on. Not good for the phone. I'm at a loss in this one, really dreading tech support or my local store. Will run the HTC diags but any other ideas greatly appreciated
No receipt, no box and I traded for it on Craig'slist 2weeks ago..

My friend had the same problem with a HOX - it wouldn't vibrate at all. He tried doing a factory reset and playing with settings, but nothing worked, so he sent it back and got a replacement. I'm not sure you can do anything about it since it's likely a hardware problem.
Hey guys, I have had my HTC One X for two months. The screen sometimes jitters and parts of the system ui blend into each other. It happens at random times and only lasts for a second and sometimes the screen takes a long time to wake and only the capacitive lights turn on. It happens in both apps and on the home screen. This was happening on stock rom and my phone wasnt rooted. I also rooted it and flashed a custom rom and i still had the problem. I also updated the OTA to the latest release but that didnt solve the problem. Anyone have an idea on how this problem can be fixed? Thanks.

I have the same problem, the problem is near usb connector mine must take it out from the battery door
After upgrading from 4.0 to 4.1 I found that my phone won't switch on until I press the power button three times although sometimes it does switch on first go. Then, I installed the latest OTA patch to 4.1.1, software number 3.14.401.31 (international version) and found that accessing the camera from the lock screen, with security pattern enabled, is very slow. That is when you drag the camera to the unlock ring and release, the lock ring pauses for about 5 seconds before the camera starts up. This didn't happen before the last update.
So far I have taken the camera out of the unlock bar and rebooted the phone and turned off geo-tagging photos. None of these options helped.
If I turn off the pattern unlock then accessing the camera from the lock screen is normal so this appears to be something to do with accessing the camera with the pattern unlock enabled.
Hi,
I have encountered the same thing - seems like you're the only one who has reported it on these forums so far. I hadn't tried disabling the pattern unlock, thanks for the tip. I'll try this. But I'm quite unhappy about this new bug that just came out of nowhere with the 4.1 update, especially knowing that the camera quick start was one of the features HTC boasted about so much!
Yeah, not much on it at the moment but the upgrade is quite recent. Hopefully more people will find this thread and we can get some traction.
Same problem here, me and my wife. Wery annoing!

No factory resetting my phone didn't work. HTC rang me back and said that I need to return it to who I bought it from. In other words no fix and returning certainly won't prove anything. I think I'll just have to wait it out until it is fixed with another update ... hopefully.
Or maybe we should looking at getting an app that provides the same functionality?
Have te same bug guys :/

I tried the factory reset too, to no avail. Seems like disabling the phone lock is the only solution, but that's not really what I would call a satisfactory solution, since I'm using a VPN on my phone and that requires a lock + I just don't want to go lock-free.
We need this issue to be known to HTC and hopefully a fix will come.
Ps I don't think this problem was present in the JB update, but only came in the small FW update that followed.

Yeah it only came in the small update after the JB update. But another problem that I'm having is that to turn my phone on via the power button, sometimes I have to press the power button three times. It doesn't always happen, but sometimes after the phone has been off for a while, I hit it once and nothing, hit it again, nothing and then on the third press it comes on. I'm not sure if they are related to the "quick" camera launch problem.
One work around for this bug, if you use your camera a lot, is to leave your camera in standby mode. That is turn your phone off while the camera is active and then when you hit the power button it will go straight to camera. I don't use this myself as I have the lock pattern on to prevent my phone from turning on in my pocket which is common on HTC phones
HTC support are a waste of space
I have this issue too. HTC told me to factory reset it, then when that didn't work they told me to return it to the store to be sent away for repair. They really don't have a clue at HTC support.
The phone was returned to Vodafone yesterday and the repair centre said "no fault found" What are they on!!! The Vodafone store confirmed the issue was still there.
I now have the phone back with no resolution.
Going to call Consumer and get some advice.
I have this problem too, quite annoying.
