Hi,
Is there any rom except cyanogenmod (or based on cm) which supports wide 5mp?
I tried oxygen, faster and stabler than cm but it did not support it.
Anyone who recommends me a good aosp with this feature or a mod for oxygen to support?

Hey !
I am running a custom ROM by Cyanogen on my HTC Desire. I have tried several applications for using the camera but none even come close to the Sense Camera App which is present in the factory ROM.
Where can I get it back from ? And how do I install it ?
I've tried installing the apk on several non sense roms and it just wont work. I don't think its possible

That's disheartening to hear! I might just consider switching to the original rom if there isn't a way to install it on cyanogen

You won't be able to run a Sense app (in this case HTC Camera) on an AOSP ROM.
The Sense app relies on Sense libs which are copyright protected and belongs to HTC. That's why none ASOP ROM uses HTC Camera (as they don't include the required libs). Also to make it work on a ROM which does not include the Sense libs, this would requires patches, or a port of the required libraries which is, if not impossible, at least very difficult.
Personnaly, I do prefer AOSP ROMs (and finally ended with Oxygen) as I prefer the advantages of these ROMs compared to Sense ones. I do occasionnaly use other application to take photos and I can live without the HTC camera app (which I must recognize is quite good).
Damn it! Well anyway thanks for your help.
Btw can u suggest a camera app which is good enough? The stock android camera sucks donkey balls and camera 360 is not that great either.

Hey, is there any way to get the stock htc camera app on cyanogen port????
Because, i cant get touch focus on the cyanogen camera....
I’ve tried installing the apk but it returns 'application not installed'...
Not possible, sense camera = sense rom.
Download camera360 from market for free. It has touch to focus and many other options!!
I don't like camera on cm also. Think picture quality was better with stock camera.

I bought CameraZoomFX as it is a great upgrade from any stock camera. Highly recommend it. It's now my default cam and has been for a while even when I was using Sense ROM's
Hi,
Currently im using Cyanogenmod, but i am searching a better rom which is based on cm. It should base on cm because i want 720p and widescreen camera.
Other cm things arent important but it should have a better battery drain.
which rom do you prefer?

if you want widescreen camera switch to 4MP
Yes i know, but i tried some aosp (non cm based) roms, for example oxygen, where you could only choose 5mp 3mp and 1mp but no 4mp wide like in cm
Would it help if i install other camera apps on aosp to support 4mp wide or it depends on system?

Honestly, I don't know.. I've never tried, I barely ever use the camera.
the ICS and JB qiss roms both have a full working stable camera and camcorder.. i can even say that the camcorder works better than on gingerbread roms for me ... on gingerbread rom, i had big issues with audio not sync with video, video freezing 1-0ms at times... BUT on other ICS/JB roms, camera is not that stable and camcorder is not really working... do you guys know why? how qiss rom has achieved this?? how come there is so much difference of stability between the qiss roms and the other ICS/JB roms in terms of camera and especially camcorder??
Do you have a link to these roms with working cam and recording ?? Cheers

qiss rom has stopped development unfortunately but marius.a has made a modded version:

try marius.a's version :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095658
it has m2sd and int2ext+ support. I am using int2ext and it works well
as much as I understood, they (qiss) are using some older versions, and it is not fully JB. and they do not give all their source codes, always, they are a bit "closed" chinese developers...that much I understood from searching xda treads...
Can anyone help differentiate between the pure aosp based & cm based ROMs? Regardless of what anyone says, pure aosp & cm are totally different.

They aren't totally different. CM is AOSP with a ton of modifications. When ROMs base off of CM, they're using CM's source code instead of using AOSP directly. In the end, you're still using a modified AOSP.

Yes they are different. Tw & sense are modified versions of Android as well.
I'm confused about what you're asking, since you clearly know how AOSP and CM differ...
Have you tried asking there?
https://plus.google.com/+CyanogenMod/
AOSP is pure Google hot off the press. AOSP is Google Nightlies.
CM is [was] based off AOSP but have pretty much rewrote the majority of it. The launcher, camera, dialer, music, etc are all different. The share the same core and look and feel, but CM is heavily modified and uses a CM kernel for drivers.
They both function the same but most of CM is a rewrite. CM is just not AOSP with a few tweaks. There is a lot different under the hood.
