[Q] App that allows to share directly to contact? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I can't believe no one has written an app like this or i just don't know about it...
I frequently want to share links and things with my wife, so when I go to share, it comes up with a list of apps to share the content to. So i click messaging and then i have to type her name in the TO box and hit send....
Well... wouldn't it be great if when i originally hit the share button, instead of the apps coming up, or in addition to, there was a Direct Message Wife option that would do it all (maybe except the sharing)... seems totally possible but i can't find that functionality. anyone have any ideas??

Send Facebook messages directly from Contacts

Hey there,
I just unpacked my T-Mobile USA Vibrant (modified Galaxy S). I love the phone, but as always, there are things that I think are missing. So I played around a little bit with it and one thing kept bothering me.
The phone integrates all my Facebook contacts, which is great. But I think it would be a slick feature if you could actually send them a message directly from the contact list. As of now, I have to go into a browser or use the FB app to send messages and I think it would be a lot more convenient to just go into the contact and send a message from there (like a text basically).
Does anybody now if there is an app or some piece of software that can help me out here? If not, do you even think it is possible to do it? I am not a developer, but I can imagine there are some issues, cause as far as I know Samsung didn't open there UI code for developers yet (or showed any intention of doing it).
So I am excited what you guys think of that and hope there is a solution somewhere out there
Phill
edit: I just saw there is a specific Vibrant forum. If the admins would like to put this post in the right place I would appreciate it. However, I think the issue is omnipresent among all versions of the SGS.
This would be a fantastic mod for contacts I would think I don't know why someone hasn't done this previously. I think if we get the guy doing the standard froyo / eclair dialler / contacts mod to do this it will be extremely innovative.
Contacts -> Groups -> Facebook -> menu -> Send message -> Choose recipient
Wow, long path... Should work though.
hey yea that works. but it is kind of a long way dont you think? Thanks anyway, it got me one step closer What I think would be a tremendous improve is to add the fb msg feature directly to the first contact screen. You know, when you slide left on a contact for texting and right for calling. If there is no number available but a fb contact it should automatically go to the fb messaging.

[Q] Reducing the list of share links

When I press the "Share" button (e.g. from the gallery) I get a list of ways to share (e.g. email, dropbox, etc). This list is getting a bit unwieldy with all the apps I have installed, and I would like to reduce the number of items that appear as I never use most of them.
Is there any way to edit this list, or ideally an app that lets me do it? Failing that, can anyone tell me how this list is generated so I can take a look myself.
Thanks.
Every time you install an app that can store or share something it is added to this list.
Without removing those apps I don't know of a way to edit the list.

[Q] Can't Share Link in Browser?

With previous versions of Android, you could long press on a link in the browser and pick Share Link. This also worked when you long pressed on an image. But it doesn't seem to work in the ICS browser.
You can however, go to a page and pick the menu option then Share Page. But that is not a good solution for everything. For example, if you have a list MP3s on a page, there would be no way to share those links with another app since you can't open that link as a page - it would just start playing.
Is this a bug, or was there some decision to remove that ability?
There's a copy url option, which means you have to open gmail or whatever yourself...
Yes, but that is a step backwards I think and isn't really what I'm looking for. One of the best things about Android is that different apps can work together by sharing functionality - like using the Share function.
I'll give you an example. I'm the developer of Juice for Roku, which lets you send music, photos, and video (in certain formats) from your phone to your Roku player. I also added Share functionality so if you were in the gallery app, for example, you can long press a photo, pick Share and pick my app - which would send it to the Roku.
I'm just now adding the ability to accept URLs from whatever app wants to share them. So for previous versions of the browser, you would be able to long press a link to a music, video or photo and pick share, then pick my app. Now you cant do that in ICS. It's just disappointing.
I agree, this is a step backward, and it's not the only one, either...
Interesting to hear about the Juice though - never heard of it, but I will be taking a look. Have you ever looked into dlna implementation? A serious drawback to the Roku...

[Q] Can someone make a module that lets you...?

Is there a mod or something that lets you pre-load web content for a web-based app allowing you to use an app while having no WiFi/data connection? Hear me out...say I have an app that will load galleries from an online database...you can run the mod, select which app you want to preload, run the app...then load whatever content you wanna save, and boom!! Haha...c'mon, no?.You know, almost like when you save a full webpage for offline use in a web browser... only it allows you to do the same kind of thing with an app, by saving the content in a cache!
Call me crazy, but I believe this would be possible for one of you genius developers to create (if not already created). And, I would gladly pay up to $5 for such an app...depending on how well it works
For a clearer example of what I'm talking about here, see post #5

Something like Pocket? I use it when browsing on my phone/tablet/PC. You can save web pages/articles/videos for offline reading later. It can sync across your devices.

Yes, but where it will allow you to use it with another app. Say I have an app like Dropbox...what if I wanted to preload my dropbox content (for viewing) for when I have no data/WiFi signal. I'm wondering if there's a mod that would allow me to select dropbox, run it...close it, then later open it again. With the mod, it would let you use view your dropbox app as if you were connected...all because the mod saved it in its cache

Sounds possible, it would just depend on the space available/what you're trying to cache. Although I suppose it would maybe let you select specific folders in the case of dropbox. I'm sure someone one smart enough would put something together. :fingers-crossed:

Yeah! Or even another example: say with using a reddit app...maybe first you would run the mod, open your reddit app through the mod...the mod would be in "caching mode" (with a limit of course) and would save anything you load in that app (while connected to WiFi/data)...then you would click a "finished caching" option and close out the app. Later, you can open the mod back up and select "run previously cached session" and you would see your saved reddit session and be able to run it with no internet!
This could be the case with several apps
So, please, someone with the working knowledge of how these things work, caching, permissions, development, etc. can you tell me if this sounds like something that could be created and funtional?

[Q] How to assign application to other?

I even don't know what keywords to use in search to find what I want.
I'll tell my question in descriptive way.
I have tourist application which shows me point to see.
When I click 'go to it' - I have choice. I can pick up Google maps or navigation.
Problem is that I have two navigations and would like to use the other but it is not on list.
Somehow application knew that I have navigation. Why didn't it pick up both?
Does user has any way to intervene and add extra choice?
This is real life example but this situation occurrs on other areas.
For example I want share a file, picture or something else.
One app allows me select AndSMB to send file, other doesn't have it on list however both use sharing feature and must be able to review phone to know what they have till hands..
It is general question but i preferred to stick to my phone model, just in case if it is significant..
Any ideas?
Choose the apps you mention, open in Settings -> Apps and click on Clear Defaults!
Not sent by me.
Yes but later you still can assign as default only one of suggested.
Question is - how to add one which doesn't appear on screen.
