[Q] Problem with my cwm,fixed - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Helo everyone,i have an unknown problem with my phone and i ask for advice.
The problem is that now my cwm is version 2.5 and i can't "update" it.I tried some methods like: using the app droidexplorer(which i used a good time for changing cwm versions) using the PC49IMG method (which never worked on my phone i don't know why ) and using cmd and fastboot method where i receive the message "status malformed 1 bytes". One more probleme here (which i think is related to the cwm one) is that my phone can stuck somwhere(screen is on but nothing is responding) and i should take off my battery for turning it back on. And this can happen not only when i am charging.
My last actions:
i created an ext2 partition (from my pc as i can't do it in cwm2.5)
i flashed rempuzzle rom (i don't think that the problem is in it,but anyway)
adb devices showed me this (but fastboot method don't work)
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *

it never changed my cwm version...in soft it was shown that it is 5.0.... but when i rebooted into recovery,it was the same :/

anyone?

When you reboot , the recovery that will be started is the one flashed with the update PC49IMG.zip. Rom Manager actually flashes the new (e.g. 5) recovery , but its somehow temporary , pinned to the rom. Using rom manager , flash the newest recovery and then dont shut down the phone, but from the program select reboot into recovery. Then the phone will go into this "somehow temporary" recovery. If you want it permanently flashed , im doing it again with the PC49IMG.zip update, somewhere in the forum there is version 5 in PC49IMG.zip format.
So you choose , it depends on what do u need it for. Personally , i have "permanently" flashed version 3.x.x.x and on the rom manager i have the latest 5.x.x.x so i can use them both

the PC49IMG method never worked for me,but i fixed my problem,i have just fully formated my sd and i installed it through my PC,thnx for help)

Next time make sure the pg49img.zip is the update and not a temporary fix one

[Q] HELP!!! =[ After flashing a rom, DHD is now on HTC logo

Help!!!
I rooted my phone then installed clockworkmod recovery v3 (not sure if it is actually there)
I installed Radio S-off but upon getting to the bootloader I see ENG S-off
I used ROM Manager to flash the Android_Revolution_HD_2.0.13.
I ticked the wipe data and cache but didn't tick the backup existing rom (noo!)
Upon rebooting it is now stuck on the HTC logo screen =[
I got into the bootloader screen and tried the following:
*factory reset -> ended up going to the HTC logo again
*recovery -> goes to HTC logo again
pretty much choosing any option = HTC logo
I've tried formating my SD card but that didn't change anything
sniff sniff
Help please!!!!!!!
Are you running clockwork mod 3.0.0.6? if not, update to that and that should fix your flashing problems. Not more than 2 hours ago i was in your same situation
Are you using the dhd from telus or elsewhere?
Oh, I believe I installed 3.0.0.5
How do I update to 3.0.0.6, I cannot get into the recovery menu =[=[
I've been stuck with this problem for the last 4 hours XD, I'm reading all the forum threads to try and find a solution
Oh yes I'm on Vodafone
Are you able to start the process over again?
just search clockwork mod 3.0.0.6 and there is a thread here with a zip file you can download and upgrade to ver .6

Can you get into recovery? try flashing the ROM from recovery and see if that helps. I have seen many people who say that their DHD is stuck at boot screen. And almost all of them have used ROM manager to flash the ROM...so i do not know if there is something going on there with ROM manager (which it should not).
Before flashing you should have made sure that, you have Eng S-Off. Read this if necessary:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537
try pasting PD98IMG.zip on your SD card again, boot the phone into bootloader, and let it install that zip file again.
if that doesn't work, turn your phone off and take out the battery, then put it back again, and try again the above.
it worked for me in a similar situation, I hope it will help you also.
Thanks everyone for your help!
I was able to get past the problem by downgrading to cwm 2.5.1.3
After 5 hrs at it I was afraid that I would end up with a brick phone!!
xxo!!!
I had the same problem yesterday...moving down to a clockworkmod 2.5.x fixed the issue for me as well. Glad you got it sorted out.

Let the guy tell us first what he was trying to do/wants to achieve, after that we can start giving instructions...
Lemme start from the top till last night I was just another noob with a stock DHD... I began on reading the guides as to changing roms and **** first from addictivetips and then from sea forums ... so after all those reads I was finally able to reach until that clockwork recovery mod 3.0.0.6 ... once ii got there I didn't know what to do next as the guide just said after reaching clockwork mod I should just restart my phone did tht .... phone restarted fine now I went to ROM manager to check for the roms I saw a tweak and clicked it ... the window opened asking to backup and wipe data ... I just clicked wipe ... the phone went into tht clockwork screen started up with he new Rom.... after 25 mins I see tht nothing had changed on my cell and rather then getting new Rom I was just on my basic Rom and tht I didn't see those superuser, Rom manager abd even my own apps ... pissed me off so j factory reset the phone ...formatted the SD through pc and gave a fresh go like attempting the Rom on a right out of the box kinda desire ...
After working now the thing is o have rooted my phone again with those same steps ... just that this time once i restarted my phone through tht clockwork thing pressing my power off button so now when I goto enter into the recovery manager or even anyother I see an error msg of privelledge ... one more thing when I open th supweuser app I don't see Rom manager as allowed I just see
Visionary
Terminal emulator
As allowed
I hope understand what I have been through !
try and remove rom manager then re-install, when you try to reboot into recovery it will ask you about super user access you need to press "allow"
Done tht still giving the same error me and my ****ing luck ! Please someone
Ok. Go to your bootloader by holding volume down while rebooting. Then read us the first line.
Also get root checker from android market, and see if you are rooted. Then come back and tell us, and we can help you further.

[Q] Rooted Wildfire S 2.3.5 stuck in bootloop...

Hi,
I've got a HTC Wildfire S, rooted and S-OFF.
But it's stuck in bootloop, I messed with the system/apps folder...
So now it's pretty much messed up.
Didn't install ROM-manager, I know it was kinda stupid.
How can I reïnstall a custom ROM?
Can anyone help me?
Go into recovery and flash from there, or if you backed-up then restore the rom. If you don't have any roms then you can also mount your sd card from CWM recovery. If you don't have any custom recovery then you'll have to flash it through fastboot. I would tell you the process but I'm really busy right now, but I'm sure someone will explain it to you.
Hi, thanks anyway... hopefully some other kind guy can help me
I don't have any custom recovery, only a ROM which I want to flash on to the device...

Don't install custom ROM's from Rom Manager's Download list. None of them are for Wildfire S.
Install CWM Recovery either through Hboot as a PG76IMG.zip or using Eoghan2t7's Windoze tool.
From there you should make a backup of your working ROM before trying any new ones in case of times like this...
Hi,
yes if I install the CWM recovery... can I then install my ROM? It's just a slightly modified Wildfire S Stock Rom...
And, I'm sorry to ask... But how do you install CWM through the boot menu?

Download that and connect your WFS to your PC, follow the steps which are quite easy. Then boot into recovery (volume down + power button, choose recovery by the volume buttons and power button), then choose install zip from SD and you can install the zip file (the rom) by selecting that file.
Let me know if this works
I have the same problem when using OC ROMs.
What am I doing wrong?
Now it's loading for ages or simply stuck in the bootscreen.
I too have the same problem when using OC ROMs. Why?
Hi, thanks for the help!
But I'm not quiet through yet... so I downloaded the WFS Manager, then I connected up my phone to the pc.
It was switched on, and just doing the bootloop again, showing the "Quietly Brilliant" sign over and over again.
And then I ran the tool, and it said "Please connect up your device" after I ticked on the first option ("Root And Install Recovery").
I guess this is because the WFS was bootlooping, and so the pc didn't recognise it. I also tried with the HBOOT menu on, but still the pc didn't recognise my phone. Is there anything I did wrong?
My pc (Windows 7 Ultimate x64), showed a popup saying there couldn't be found any driver for "Android 1.0". However it did work before the bootloo
If you have a card reader, or a phone that can take your SD card, then just remove your SD card, place it in an SD card reader or a device which can take your SD card, plug that device into your PC, place the ROM you want to flash onto the SD card, place your SD card back into your Wildfire, boot into recovery and flash the ROM from there.
I had a similar situation where I had an invalid xxxxIMG.zip file on the root of my SD card and a ROM that kept rebooting my device. Naturally, I started panicking, but when I got myself together, I just realized I could remove my SD card and then go into recovery, then reinsert my card and flash a working ROM.
Hope this works for you
Hi, thanks for the help. But I don't think you fully understand my problem.
So I have a stock ROM, rooted. And I messed with the system/app folder.
Now it's stuck into bootloop.
What does recovery mean? is it the menu entry in the HBOOT menu?
Because if I go to "recovery" and click it, after a few seconds I get a phone icon with a red triangle above it.
I tried putting the PG76IMG.zip file on the root of my SD card, but then in the HBOOT Menu, I get the message:
"CID incorrect !
Update Fail!
Press <POWER> to reboot."
What do I have to do?
find the cwm recovery thread and download the PG76IMG.zip then copy it to your sdcard then reboot to hboot. when it asks you if you want to flash recovry press volume up. then when finish instead of rebooting take out your battery. wait for 25 secs reinsert it then boot to hboot then choose recovery see new ui instead of the old one.

here you go forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213229
Hi, when I do what you say I get the error:
"CID incorrect!
Update Fail!
Press <POWER> to reboot."
This is my course of actions:
I download the PG76IMG.zip file from the CWM recovery thread.
I place it in the root of my SD-card.
I start my phone pressing the volume-down button.
It automatically finds the .zip file and tries to update, but then I get the error.
What should I do?
I got what you were trying to say, I just didn't realize you had no recovery installed. I had the same error message pop up when I tried to install the recovery. I think it had something to do with the hboot being newer than something, something, blah, blah, bliddity-blah.
Anywho, I think I had the recovery installed along with the root using SuperTool.exe, but that won't work for you, since you obviously can't boot up, so you can't connect to the PC. All I can remember is I had some sort of app on my PC that allowed me to push the CWM Recovery without going through all that hboot stuff, since the S-ON wouldn't let me install PG76IMG.zip. Again, this is useless to you
My best advice is to try another PG76IMG.zip file and just keep trying until you find one that'll work, which you'll place onto your SD card from another device, of course.
EDIT: Link to where I got CWM Recovery from.
In this post there's an auto-installer that I used to flash it onto my device.
The reason you are having bootloop problems with OC roms is because your phone doesn't support OC. Don't worry though it's not just you, even my phone doesn't support OC. The best ROM to go with right now is Alquez's CM7, but I'm sure other developers will make non-OC roms.
Hi, THANKS!
I used the auto installer, and now I have the CWM recovery!
Can someone tell me now which options I should use to install the new ROM?
Maybe an advice of which ROM would be the best one?
I'd like something fast and stable, it would be handy to have one which doesn't have any stock apps installed with it...
I'd go with Jikantaru's ROM, if I wanted a more Sense-ish experience (which I, personally, don't). It does away with the bloatware, but it keeps Sense UI. I couldn't use this one, since my SD card is only 2 gigs and I can't partition it correctly :\
Therefore, my pick would be Cyanogenmod 7, which gives you a pure Android experience (no trace of HTC's bloatware, spyware or crapware). It takes away everything you don't need or most likely don't use and keeps it all clean and speedy, since there's no Sense, MotoBlur, TouchWiz or any other company-created user interface, leaving you to run everything right on top of the Android system. However, I've had some trouble with this one. First I had no mobile data connection or WiFi, and when I finally fixed that problem, I noticed I had no phone app -.-
So, now I'm using m1ndh4x8r's ROM, and I'm pleased enough with it. It lets me overclock and stuff, though I fear I might have effed something up while reverting to it from my non-fully-working CM7 flash, and now I can't install most apps :\
Now I'm pretty much waiting for a fully-operational CM7 build to come out so I can finally use my phone's full potential.
white htc screen
Hey hey =)
I installed the cm7 by alquez (already tried the RC and the nightly build) and I'm stuck at a white boot screen - I don't know if this is the boot loop error - I only see the green HTC sign with white background
Yesterday, I unlocked the phone, rooted it and today, I installed the CWM and from there, resetted the phone, data, and installed the zip.
Now, the white screen doesnt go away, even after 15min or so
Is there a thing i'm missing?
Thanks in advance!

ok, shall I also format boot?
because I read it's pretty nasty deleting it if you don't install a new one, is that right? ^^

[Q] Stuck on cyanogenmod boot loop and no clockwork recovery...

Ok so here's the deal I have been working on this STUPID Incredible for a buddy of mine for like the last 4 hours trying to fix his boot loop issue. I have scoured the internet looking for a way to fix this problem and downloaded countless *.img and *.zip files and who knows what else...
[EDIT] Also if I reboot to bootloader (either through adb fastboot or through the phone (VOL (-) + POWER) adb can't find the phone I can only access the phone when it's actually trying to boot up
[THE ISSUE]
The phone boots up shows the white htc incredible screen than proceeds to boot into cyanogenmod 7.blah.blah.blah (don't know the exact version it's from a couple months ago) and than just continuously shows the skateboard dude and doesn't proceed past that point.
When I reboot the phone and load up the bootloader it runs fine and than when I try to do the recovery option it will vibrate for a second show the htc incredible screen and than show the fastboot usb options (bootloader, reboot, reboot bootloader, power down) and if I select reboot it just reboots to the same problem.
If I choose Factory Reset it goes to the fastboot usb menu but I can't choose any of the options and it just sits there, I actually have to do a battery pull in order to do anything.
I know that clockword mod was installed on this phone but I can't access it by any means.
I hooked the phone up to my computer and loaded up adb (which is installed correctly as I've used it on my phone and the htc drivers are installed correctly) if I try to access my internal sd card through an adb shell it doesn't list anything and I have root in the shell (#) and if I try to cd to sd-ext it says "can't cd to sd-ext) so I can put something on the cards and load them up (as far as I know) to get the recovery working or anything...
adb does see the phone sees the files on the phone I can do a adb reboot it and that works fine.

Sounds like something is borked with your install, and your recovery has vamooshed. Yes, those are the technical terms for it. Try an RUU.
http://pvillecomp.com/?page_id=22
That will give you stock everything, including recovery, you just have to flash CWM, then in CWM wipe everything (wipe data/factory reset, wipe boot, wipe system), then flash a ROM.
Edit: try Pons' method first.
First, the phone isn't stupid...it's Incredible. I mean seriously /s
Can you reformat the sd card, download CWM to the root of your sd card, then install CWM through hboot that way?
CWM is available from pvillecomp.com, download the file under the heading "Recoveries" and rename it to: PB31IMG.zip
Couple questions:
What started the bootloop issue? What steps have you taken to try resolving this issue?

CWM Boot Loop - Unable to access via Odin/ADB
I have the boot loader problem too... Last night, for no apparent reason, my phone turned off and didn't want to come back on again. I didn't change anything, plug it into anything, or do anything fancy, it just turned itself off and now it's stuck in a boot loop.
It boots into download mode okay, but I can't get it into recovery.
Win here too!
i bricked my phone running cm7 also and had the exact same problems right down to the T. ...SO!, that program that i installed on my computer took complete control of the phone and reset the rom. this is a wonderful piece of software. if you have an incredible download this program and dont worry about bricking your phone again.
how to obtain s-on now?
After I used the program from the website in the previous post, it brought me back to stock Rom and everything. Now it's still s-off, but I can't get into cwm, just hboot. My main goal is just to get this back to stock (unrooted and s-on). Can someone please explain how I go about doing this? I can get.any info needed ie. Radio etc.
Problem right now is in order to get into the phone I have to do the entire setup which includes activating it,which I cannot do.
Thank you guys much for this useful info.

Why do you want it unrooted and s-on? All you need to do is flash cwm recovery http://dinc.does-it.net/Recoveries/CWM_5.0.2.0/PB31IMG.zip thru hboot. From there you can flash superuser http://dinc.does-it.net/Superuser/SuperUser_3.1.1.zip and be rooted if so desired. If you really want s-on and stock you need to flash cwm http://dinc.does-it.net/Recoveries/CWM_5.0.2.0/PB31IMG.zip thru hboot, flash the 2.15.00.07.28 radio http://dinc.does-it.net/Radios/2.15.00.07.28/PB31IMG.zip thru hboot, and then flash the unrevoked s-on patch http://dinc.does-it.net/Unrevoked/unrevoked-forever-son.zip thru recovery. Once s-on flash a official ruu http://dinc.does-it.net/Stock_Images/4.08.605.15/PB31IMG.zip thru hboot and you will be stock s-on. Also if you want to bypass the activation just cancel it 3 or 4 times and it will let you skip it.

Tapping each corner going clockwise, starting in the top left, is an easier way to skip the setup.
thanks
Thanks guys. I ended up calling customer service and they got me past the activate screen. From there I re rooted the phone so I could use cwm recovery again and flash s-on then unrooted it and all is good now. Thanks

Forget about the post above finally...I've stopped having black screen I don't know how but there's something I've noticed...see:
***Unlocked*** - New Thing
Marvel S-OFF
Hboot - 1.09.0099 - New Thing
And now when I select recovery mode...I have this...
First an android phone down with a green logo like something sync and inside it an arrow upside down maybe download...then after that it disappears to show another Android Phone....and next to it there's a Triangle with an Exclamation Mark in it...so what have I done wrong...??
i think that's stock recovery that's not yet cwm have you flashed it is step 10???
NOT SOLVED! You need to change the title of this thread!
I have the same problem with my brand new Wildfire S.
I try to enter in CWM and it turns black. Almost bricked it with the solution above. I had to reinstall system.img and recovery.img manually with fastboot to fix it.
Mine arrived yesterday. My wife has the same phone but a few months older. Running CWM without issues.
Rommanager acknowledged that CWM is installed.
We need to find a solution for this. It is really a pain in the... . Just imagine you cannot recover your phone.

above steps are not a miracle.
Its a way cwm install Custom recovery from Ui of your phone, and relax i have not tempered or shared any links which are incompatible.
Its a way thats it ,its a default process of cwm for which it is designed for.
what a change here is you cant see anything, but cwm is still doing its work inside.
Ihave done several reserch and finally found that HTC has changed or improved Its Video Chip or firmware. which is incompatible with Cwm currently.
Above situations you have explained are not a sign of bricked phone dear...
follow this thread and make your device awake.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467844.
Remember bricking your phone means,(No way to make your phone alive) and this happens when bootloader is erased,in my case bootloader cant be uprooted in any circumstances.
so feel free work on these steps.

Yesterday I got my second Wildfire S with the firmware version 2.13.401.3 and I have successfully unlocked my bootloader via HTCDev. The flash process from the ClockworkMod 5.0.2.8 is completed successfully but the screen stays black for me too. Now I had tried this tutorial but it does not work for me. Then I had the HTC update the firmware version 2.26.401.3 and flashed now I can not even get root privileges. I had read something here now because of the Dalvik cache Wipen but what is the ADB to command? Thank you in advance!
Sorry for my bad english, I come from Germany!
