So I just realized VZW 4g phones need sim cards. My previous phone was an original droid so I don't have one. Since I ordered a Gnex from wirefly, do they include the sim card or do I have to get it from VZW? What is the process like to get one?
I also had wirefly keep my original data plan (unlimited). Will that transfer okay and work with vzw 4g lte? My phone is arriving tomorrow so just want to be prepared so i can get up and running asap!
sorry
I got mine off Amazon, and the sin card was in the sealed nexus box. I imagine it'll be the same with wirefly, and my unlimited plan switched perfectly since I had it on my original Droid and Incredible 2

Yup, wirefly should/will include it in the box. You are set.
Be sure to call and have wirefly activate the phone. If you try to do it through the vzw website they will try to get you to change data plans to a tiered one. That is if you don't already have one.
I haz no sig
It comes packaged. If you ever need a new one go to Verizon and they will likely provide one free of charge.

I activated my original droid by just calling the activation number and using the automated system. Is it different on this device which requires you to call wirefly/vzw?
I think you'll be fine using the automated system. I doubt it'll change your plans without your consent, or at least without asking/warning u about it.

I'm sorry, activation wasn't the problem it was swapping my old phone with the GNex on Verizons website that prompted me to "upgrade" to a tiered plan. That was my experience. If you run into problems just call Wirefly and have them do the switch.

that's it they lost my business
damn Telus wasted me 2 weeks waiting for nothing
idiots at Telus don't want to sell the phone without a contract
bestbuy canada don't have them in stock, even though the website said they do.
checked 2 store already that shows, and still shows it has stock
most likely i'll be picking up the Tmo version instead, less hassle
WTF! You cant buy a phone outright, you have to be on contract instead? Thats insane.Does this apply to ALL phones?

why dont you get Rogers galaxy s2 LTE?
it has the same bands as Telus but with LTE added!
Most likely it's because they are low on stock and to get more commission they save it for contracted customers. I know that's what I would do if it were me.

my hook-up thread doesn't seem as bad anymore does it. I knew the big 3 would probably be as***** about it and so that's why i wanted a tmobile version instead.
You can probably buy it off someone who's trying to make a quick profit. $500 is a reasonable offer for a $100 on-contract phone.
Just try a different Telus store maybe?
Have you picked one up yet allgamer?

it should arrive in the next 2~3 days
If you know someone working for Telus or can get a hold of a Telus Team login, you can purchase the phone without a contract right now at $509

Good luck!
My bad. Thanks. I should have looked closer and do more search on the forum. I was just under the rush of almost buying a mint perfect screen Epic Touch in white for $80.00.
Wonder if its worth it since primary carrier is verizon, and j don't like any service from metropcs, cricket. And i currently have a Galaxy SII T989 in white.

If its only $80 buy it even if you have no use for it and resell it on eBay, you'll probably get around $200 for it there...

Any idea why it has a bad ESN?
I know for a FACT that if it's because someone had it associated with an account that went unpaid/defaulted, it takes roughly 90 days for the account to become completely "closed" and taken off of "non-payment" status, that will free up the ESN. This *just* happened to me with a Nexus S 4G that I used to have on a friend's account (and he screwed me over).
Not sure about other cases (blacklisted ESNs) though.
Was that with sprint? I picked up an og evo awhile back off Craigslist and got burned on it...first and last time I didn't meet the seller at the sprint store... it was past due balance (calling *3 confirmed this, as sprint " technically" couldn't tell me anything about the account other than it was not stolen)... regardless I held on to it for close to 6 months before I sold it (on ebay, honestly, as a bad esn phone and got close to double what i paid for it... so it worked out well in the end) and the esn never cleared...

The things is, you can't be too sure about CDMA versions on eBay and the likes. They could be blacklisted on the networks.
Yeah...sucks but true. Verizon is CDMA. No getting around that. Either stay with Verizon and unlimited data and pay full price, pay subsidized price and get reduced internet, or jump ship.
I personally am going to get the HSPA+ one and use it with T-Mobile. 5 gigs of 4g and unlimited 3g for $30 a month

You have 45 days to open a buyer protection case, so no worries there. Just buy from a reputable seller and you're good. If you put it on a credit card, you can always do a charge back. I've bought around 50 cell phones on eBay, and only one was blacklisted. I contacted the seller and he gave me a full refund.

If you sign up for a new 2 year contract on a Value Plan, then they'll give you $50 MasterCard.
Just FYI for those of you on another carrier and want a Note II on T-Mobile.
Don't mean to hijack the topic, but do you guys think waiting another month for Black Friday will have even more awesome deals from T-Mobile? $50 back is better than nothing.
I got 100 dollar master Card from them

Possibly, I mean if u wait a month after the release of a phone you'll get a better deal, but the plans themselves dont really vary much and promotions come once in a while. And no worries about thread hijacking not even sure if my thread qualifies for this thread

I am currently on Verizon, with a Galaxy Nexus. I bought a Droid DNA off of eBay (really good deal), and want to know if I can just pop in my sim card, and go. I know the sizes are different, so I can use a sim cutter, and go to town on it. When I was checking the ESN with the Verizon rep, they said I would need to call to activate the phone. I've read on the interweb you can swap sims on 4G phones with no issue. So, much like everything on the interweb, there is conflicting information. What's the good word?
Actually both the DNA and gnex require micro sims, so it should fit right away. and yes, you can just pop in the sim and wait for it to recognize, but do it on the sense ROM before gaining s-off and flashing roms because I remember reading that cm doesn't have a certain file or something that prevents you from activating it when you run a custom ROM. Anyways, to answer your question yes
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Verizon would need to activate because they use cdma and only use approved devices on their network.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Well Verizon exclusive devices like the droid DNA are pre-approved, and as long as it was sold by Verizon period, and is a 4g device, then you can swap sims all you want.

But this seems to contradict what is on Verizon's own website:
http://support.verizonwireless.com/faqs/VZAccess/4g_sim_card.html
Can I use my Verizon Wireless 4G SIM in more than one device?
Yes; the Verizon Wireless 4G SIM card contains all of your subscriber information, so the SIM card is portable and can be used in any Verizon Wireless-certified 4G device. All usage will be billed to the account associated with the 4G SIM card.

I'll find out for sure when my phone arrives in the mail, and I'll update this thread.
I took the Sim card from my wife's stratosphere and put it into my old droid charge and it worked just fine. All I had to do was wait for it to recognize the Sim.

I left sprint for verizon a little over a year ago. I have had no remorse leaving. Not to get too far off topic, but the only real benefit to sprint is their unlimited data. But since you can't connect to their network, or it's slow as hell, what's the point?
