DINC2 google talk video - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

sorry if this is a repeat, but I own a Droid Charge, and my wife has the DINC2, she does not like the idea of rooting her phone so I never read about it until now.
I noticed that the stock Rom does not have video call on the google talk app.
How would I go in order to get video call on her google talk?
Obs:. HTC's are new to me so if one could give an in depth look on how to get it done I would really appreciate it.

You're probably going to need to root it and throw on CM7/CM9 or MIUI depending on taste.

You can try Google plus or Skype. They should work.

Thanks for the replies. I will work with her about rooting her phone. Had no idea DINC2 had CM9 running on it. Anyway thanks for the help!

Why wouldn't you just turn on unknown sources within the applications setting and go find the newer google talk apk?
That'll give you google talk without having to worry about rooting if that's all you want.

HTC Apps on CM

I feel like I should know this but for some reason I don't think I do.
Anyhow, just flashed the latest build of CM and I miss the HTC Dialer, keyboard and Messaging app like crazy. Is it possible to just install them without the world ending? Also, does anyone have the apk's for these?
Thanks for any insight.

I searched for an answer to this (I only want the dialer) and found that no one has been successful at parting sense out. It is an all or none type deal. Sucks for me and sucks for you. If anyone knows a comparable dialer with that smart dial thing, give me a heads up. Thanks

Most of those apps need Sense to run. I tried installing the stock keyboard and just got force closes. I'm a big fan of Sense, but I'll make the sacrifice for CM. Hopefully when the full release comes out the devs will be able to incorporate some of those apps into CM.

Thanks for the info guys!
I think a Sense ROM will come using CMs work. CM just doesn't do it because it belongs to HTC. I think maybe s3vo is using CM stuff if not someone else will. I was trying to do it myself I'm just missing something. I'm fairly confident that I will figure it out eventually. Most likely though someone with more knowledge will output one long before I figure it out.

HTC G1 Upgrade... NO SOLUTION!!

I am at my witts end with this stupid phone. I am trying so hard to find an actual download for the android 1.5 cupcake update. I have been looking for two days straight. All I want to do is to get android 1.5 cupcake on this phone and googles link for the update has been gone for a while. I have seen MANY successful attempts at upgrading without root... Its as simple as renaming the file to update, dropping it in the sd card and rebooting with home + power button and hitting alt+L and alt+S and boom thats it...
Does ANYONE have a solution or better yet... a link to a working download of android 1.5 cupcake so that I can upgrade this phone? I am desperate. Thanks so much.
download link for 1.5
ok so here is a guide to unbrick a HTC G1....not exactly what you asked for, but bear with me. ---code.google.com/p/android-roms/wiki/Unbrick--- (apparently I can't post links due to me being a new user)
in this guide towards the bottom of the page, there are several link to the different android versions for the G1 and they are all good links...I used this guide myself, so I know it is solid.
take the time and read through this guide so that you will be better able to choose the files you want to download.
let me know if this helps (or if it doesn't)
Thanks
charlie
hey I really do appreciate the link. I will check it out and pray to God that I can get some success. With this phone the ONLY desire that I have is to get the camcorder anyway. I know there are alot of other nice features but if its this ahrd to do and I was able to get just the camcorder I would probably be stoked.
In the event anyone else reads this and has some feedback or a working link to a download of the 1.5 cupcake (even the UK download) I would be thankful. From what I have seen even people that used the UK download were able to get it working WITHOUT root in all of 2 minutes which is fantastic... If only I had a working download for it. Unfortunately google decided to take it down permanently and every time I do a search with google or yahoo, ALL the links for a download are to the google site which doesn't work.
So, if ANYONE has any help with this I would truly appreciate it because I am literally at my witts end. And charltonstanley... Once again, thanks alot and I will chec out the link of yours. I really appreciate the reply.
You're Welcome
You're welcome!
Like I said before, the links are towards the very bottom of that page.
I believe that with these, you can achieve your goal to make this phone a camcorder. But why not go all the way to 1.6 stock? Why stop at 1.5? The last download link on the website link That I posted is 1.6 stock. just use that one.
I do however believe that you MUST start flashing from android 1.0 and move down the list. I believe for one to work you have to have the others---at least that is what my experience was.
My recommendation is that you follow this guide completely EVEN IF your phone isn't bricked. That is what I did with my non-bricked G1 and everything works perfectly! No regrets!
Let me know if you need more help.
There are several more websites that I know of that have more tools that will help you recover your phone to stock, it just depends on your circumstances.
I uploaded this a couple years ago and apparently it still has seeders. http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4910197/Official_USA_T-Mobile_Cupcake_Android_1.5_Image_for_G1
I'm sure I'm not the only one who sees the elephant in the room... OP!!! Why u no root!?

i will definitely try that charlton. I am going to give that a try tomorrow once I get home from work and I will let u know hjow it goes or if I need any help.i really appreciate it. and I will go with 1.6 I just wasnt aware that 1.6 was even released for the g1. is it 1.6 donut?
benmarvin, thanks alot I appreciate the link and if this first solution doesnt work I will go to your link. Out of curiosity (because your post didnt say fr sure) is your link to 1.5 cupcake and if so is it USA or UK version that just gets dropped in sd card and renamed to update and yada yada yada?
flying fox the reason is because I do not have a huge amount of experience with rooting phones. I rooted two of my cellphones before but it always seems like something goes wrong and I feel that I dont FULLY understand or maybe I just dont trust myself to attempt root and bricking the phone when theres the possibility of doing it simply by dropping it in renaming the file restarting and hitting alt + l and alt + s. I just figure that was the easiest route. If someone had skype and was willing to step me through it now thats a different story .
Thanks to everyone and any more feedback is appreciated! dont stop with the answers! hah

First timer, need help!

Hey there XDA Community, I am trying to load a custom rom onto my Sprint Galaxy S II and I am having some major issues. I learn best through communication, so if there was any way I could talk to you through skype, it would be greatly appreciated. I do not have much I can give you in return, but I am sure I could work something out. Post your Skype name and I will add you. Thanks so much for taking the slightest interest in this post!

I do not have many posts, due to the fact that I am a new member, so I shall make this one count. I rooted my phone flawlessly. Now I want to add a rom, perferably ICS Or Cyanogen 9.0, something flashy if you catch my drift. I tried doing an ICS one and ended up clearing all data from my phone with out any movement forward. I am at a loss as to how to implement these roms!
F**k im bored...but i will not post my skpe info....send me a pm with yours or post it here. Im sure we can get you flashed, these things are easy compared to others..

[REQUEST] Wifi Calling Patch for AOKP/CM?

Okay, so my mouth has been watering over AOKP since it came out. I love the build, but I can't use it at my house due to its lack of Wifi Calling. I've tried pulling the apk from stock Touchwiz, but to no avail. I didn't expect that to work, but its all I could think of. Would it be possible to create a patch to flash on AOSP ROMs that would allow for wifi calling? I've seen it implemented in CM7 on the HTC Espresso, (a device where the last official HTC release was froyo) so I have a little hope. So I'd like to ask kindly, would someone please help me or work with me on a solution? I have google voice, but it doesnt support MMS, so I cant troll anyone with my meme app I pretty much live in Deliverenceville so reception is a joke on any carrier Thanks in advance. I really appreciate any help.

Hey guys, good morning. I am sorry to bother you but I couldnt get all the info i needed. So i recently returned to android after 2 years and i almost lost touch of how every thing works.
I have a google pixel2 xl and i wanted to install some custom roms. Thing is i dont wana lose the camera or performance. Can someone tell me if i will lose the camera quality and stuff? I couldnt find an answer elsewhere and having used sony and samsung i do know you will lose your camera drm and other stuff. And if the answer is no can someone link me to all the necessary files and pages to the best custom rom. Thank you much. Again i know how this works and posting something like this not cool to others but i will appreciate if I can get some help..

Look over the linked thread about unlocking the bootloader and rooting. Then you'll be ready to start flashing roms. :good:

Dirty unicorns and ressurection remix used to be my favorties, sag but cyanogen is dead long back lol
Nice roms on the development section, try some and enjoy it!
